Salve Regina
mater misericordiae:
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus, exsules, filii Hevae.
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo, Advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos
ad nos converte.
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis, post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens: O pia: O dulcis
Virgo Maria.

English Translation
Queen, mother of mercy:
our life, sweetness, and hope, hail.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To you we sigh, mourning and weeping
in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

Hail, Queen of heaven, the ocean star,
Guide of the wanderer here below,
Thrown on life's surge, we claim thy care,
Save us from peril and from woe.
Mother of Christ, Star of the sea
Pray for the wanderer, pray for me.

O gentle, chaste, and spotless Maid,
We sinners make our prayers through thee;
Remind thy Son that He has paid
The price of our iniquity.
Virgin most pure, Star of the sea,
Pray for the sinner, pray for me.

Sojourners in this vale of tears,
Blest advocate, to thee we cry,
Assuage our sorrows, calm our fears,
And soothe with hope our misery.
Refuge in grief, Star of the sea
Pray for the mourner, pray for me.

And while to Him Who reigns above
In Godhead one, in Persons three,
The Source of life, of grace, of love,
Homage we pay on bended knee:
Do thou, bright Queen, Star of the sea,
Pray for thy children, pray for me.

hillsate: Wow! Never knew catholism is ladened with a lot of comedy.
Nice one guys, nice comedy.
1. Only in comedy Would Mary be the closest to Jesus in Heaven. She ma don dey for Godhead be that?

2. Only in comedy will Mary be called the spouse of the Holy Spirit. Spouse? Very funny.

3. Only in comedy will it be said that Mary never gave birth after Jesus, haba! Mary had a lot of s3x from Joseph. History even had it that Joseph died early because he couldn't keep up with Mary's libido.

4. Only in comedy would people centre a lot on Mary (Creature) rather than the creator (Jesus).

5. Mary cannot pray for you. She cannot intercede for you. She does not even pray for anyone. The only person who intercedes for us is Jesus.

6. The Mary in heaven today would suffer a heart attack if God shows her what her name is being used for by the catholics.

7. Mary was just a vessel God used to fulfil His plans for man. She was a good and righteous woman no doubt but she was human and equal with any human.
The last time i checked,

Ignorance is a deadly disease in your lineage

kingthreat: No offense, but I find it hard to believe that Catholics are actually christians. You perform rites that is completely out of biblical teachings. Rites that link to ancient Roman/Greek pagan practices.

The Greek worshiped Artemis, Romans worshiped Diana. Now you are worshipping who?
Teach your child the way of the Lord, that he may not depart from it. Its either you were taught but have been consumed by devilish thinking OR they didnt do a good job in bringing you up in the way of the Lord.

Join me in reading LUKE 1: 39-56

In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would bea fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”

And Mary said,

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.
For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
And his mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
he has brought down the mighty from their thrones
and exalted those of humble estate;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

And Mary remained with her about three months and returned to her home.

valicious1: When God changed Abram's name to Abraham did he still retain his former name? When God changed Jacob to Isreal did he retain his former name? When God changed Saul to Paul did he still continue being called saul? Catholics enough of all these blasphemy. Yes mary was a virgin when she had Jesus but the moment she started having other children she immediately stopped being tagged a virgin. Mary was not a virgin till death. Enough of this ignorance
Prove your statements with facts because it is evidently clear that you are the ignoramus element here. Mary never had any other children and that was why Jesus told John the beloved at the cross to look after his mother when he said...Mother behold your son, Son behold your mother.

JOHN 19:26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.

Jesus tenderly provides for his mother at His death. Now that He was dying and fearing what would become of her? He saw her standing by and knew her cares and griefs, and He saw John standing not far off. So, He established a new relationship between His beloved mother and His beloved disciple. He said to her, "Woman, behold your son, for whom, from now on, you must have a motherly affection," and to John, "Behold you mother, to whom you must pay a sonly duty." And so from that hour, that hour never to be forgotten, that disciple took her to his own home.

Isaiah7;14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel, meaning GOD WITH US

Isaiah 7:14 is a verse of the Book of Isaiah in which the prophet Isaiah, addressing king Ahaz of Judah, promises the king that God will destroy his enemies; as a sign that his oracle is a true one, Isaiah predicts that a young woman will shortly give birth to a child whose name will be Immanuel, "God is with us", and that the threat from the enemy kings will be ended before the child grows up.

AtbuAbdul: What do u mean by "Oh lady of fatima"? cud u throw in some more light
Fatima is a village in Portugal where the Blessed Virgin Mary (B.V.M) appeared to three shepherd children namely Lucia 10yrs, Francisco 9yrs and Jacinta 7yrs on May 13, 1917. Our Lady of Fatima is the title for this apparition because of its prophecy concerning World War and the conversion of Soviet Russia.

Before Mary appeared to them, they had earlier been visited by an angel on three separate occassion in order to prepare them for the apparition.

According to Lúcia's account, in the course of her appearances, B.V.M confided to the children three secrets, now known as the Three Secrets of Fátima.

Francisco (1908–1919) and Jacinta Marto (1910–1920), were both victims of the Great Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918-20 while Lucia died on February 13, 2005 at the age of 102yrs.

Pataki: I never knew of cabs that carry more than one different passenger on the island. I know of danfos and mostly keke maruwa. Except if the OP is talking of keke maruwa which is unlikely the case.

I am fully aware of drops though. And quite frankly, with the unsafe situation in Lagos, entering such cabs is like signing your own death issuance.

This is why, if I have any business to do on the island, I charter a taxi - drop from a bus garage. This way, you are one step safer in Lagos.
you can get such cabs at the following locations in Lagos:

1. Obalende under the bridge and they ply Ikoyi.

2. Obalende park and they ply Bonny Camp, Bar beach, Eko Hotel route

3. Check point bus stop along Akin Adesola Victoria Island, and they usually source for passengers at Law school. They operate betwen 5:00 AM till about 7:00AM every morning and they ply Ajah axis

4. Ogudu and Ojota. They ply Ogudu to Ojota to and fro....These are the ones I can remember now.

@PATAKI, the fact that you dont know doesnt mean that it doesnt exist....always make your research before you comment online.

FoodRe: Ewa Agoyin And Agege Bread: The Fading Delicacy Of Lagosians by alextayo(m): 2:24pm On Apr 17, 2013
Ewa Agoyin is best enjoyed when it is cooked for house hold cunsumption and as part of menu in a party. Honestly speaking, i pity those who buy this beans when it is being cooked for commercial purpose. I grew up on Lagos Island and lived among the Togolese who brought this delicacy to Lagos, infact they occupied half of the compound where i lived and they are specialist in preparing this meal if they really want to. They initialy started well and that was when the beans became the darling of many Lagosians.

Unfortunately, greed sets it and the high rate of cutting corners to maximise profit makes them at times do the unthinkable against the good mind of the unsuspecting public.

How many of you are aware that at times they cook white beans and use tonic grass (a local herb that emits red colour when cooked and you can get it at the local herb market)to turn the beans colour into brown .This is the period they add more palm oil to your beans with little stew. In some instances they cook a mixture of white beans and olo 2 mashed together with the left over from the previous day.

And presently what we have on the street of Lagos is EWA KWARA being hawked by Kwara girls and claiming it to be Ewa Agoyin. Anybody can cook ewa agoyin once you can mash the beans and get the right recipe for the stew.

CrimeRe: Student Killed As LASU Reprisal War Gets Bloodier by alextayo(m): 2:41pm On Mar 08, 2013
It is just a pity that LASU is going back to its old status. Who ever is killed as a result of cultist activities deserves what befalls them. Why would a sane and visionary student with a bright hope for the future engage in cultism. It really pained me that my LASU is now reclaiming its infamous identity just when we thought the school has been sanitised. I remembered how I shed tears after writing my final paper in LASU almost 9yrs ago because I looked back at all the people who have lost their lives. I remembered my couse mates, friends and even those that i dont know but witnessed the gruesome manner in which they were killed.

CULTISM DOESNT PAY AND ITS HIGH TIME THE DUMB JAMBITES WHO ADD TO THEIR NUMBERS GET THIS INTO THEIR EMPTY HEADS. A word is enough for the wise.

I took my time to read all comments on this thread and I'm just surprised that some unrepentant Idiotic guys are supporting and glorifying cultism. I am an alumni of LASU where I spent almost 6 years for a 4 yrs degree LARGELY due to strike and cultist clash and I make bold to say that anybody killed by CULTIST in LASU is also a CULTIST. The only instance that I know where non cultist was killed was in the case of Late Tunde Salau (SUG PRESIDENT). Salau was in 300 level (i was in 200 level then) accounting when he supervised the lynching of GASBY and another unidentified cultist by student mob and that was few months to SUG election which he eventually WON partly based on his heroic deed on this particular day. He was eventually killed on 13th February 2003 when he was writing his final year exams.

I lost my friends to cultism because they want to belong. Those that wants to belong are no more and those of us that are Jew Men still belongs to this sweet world where i still eat my Eba and drink my Star Lager Beer. My life is so important to be jeopardised by enslaving myself all in the name of cultism. THOSE WHO HAVE EARS, LET THEM HEAR.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It Right For Churches To Pay Instrumentalists ? by alextayo(m): 9:28am On Nov 26, 2012
Everybody may have idea about music, but it takes extensive study and training to bring out the best in you and these studies/training does not come free. How do you expect me to play for a church for free when it cost me many thousands of NAIRA to even get MUSON Grade 6 certificate. If intrumentalist are to play for free in churches, then the church should be ready to bear the financial cost of their training. Instrumentalist spend money to purchase their instruments, the church collects money through offering, tithe and other means, pockets the money and all you get to hear from the Pastor is God Bless you.

My Brothers it doesnt work that way.... go to Orpheus bookshop at Awolowo Road, Ikoyi or Ilupeju, The Saints Music Store and Emycil both at Ojuelegba and ask how much a music manuscript cost... Music is a profession and i dont think any professional works for free.

If you are the type that supports instrumentalist playing for free in churches, its not too late for you to go to a music school, use your salary to buy books, instrument and pay for tuition, then after your graduation.. go to churches and play for "MAY GOD REWARD YOUR EFFORT" words from the Pastor.

Tell me a gathering of men where there is no evil...even the so-called rigtheuos bible believing churches are all embedded in one form of scandal or the order.... tribal sentiment, leadership tussle, revenue/profit (offering) sharing, and many more...... wat do you say of a G.O who took in a new wife barely 18 months after his wife passed away...please spare me those craps.....i challenge anybody to come out and tell me a church where there is no corruption...i mean any church.

you dont come here and indirectly promote a church .
Christianity EtcRe: The Nigerian Church Is Losing Its Purpose - By Ayobami Oyalowo (A Must Read!!!!) by alextayo(m): 2:34pm On Nov 15, 2012
This corruption now permeates all the churches in Nigeria...orthodox and pentecostal. Christians are being deceived everyday by inglorious men who calls themselves men of God.

They keep their worshippers dis-satisfied so that they will keep on coming, knowing fully well tthey wont come to church again once their problems are declared over..... Christians are blindfolded to perpetually fight imaginary spiritual battle against the devil and they cast, bind and curse the devil even in the house of God....Jude 1:9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

When Jesus fed 5,000 people, he collected the food from a young boy....if it were to be our Nigerian Pastors, they would have conned the boy into giving out the bread as either special offering, seed sowing, tithe or prophet upkeep...promising him a reward that never existed and quoting Matthew 10:41 The person who welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet's reward.
Christianity EtcRe: RCCG Covenant Partnership - Scam Of All Scams? by alextayo(m): 6:00am On Oct 16, 2012
Trials of Brother Jero written by Wole Soyinka clearly depicts the slavery that Nigerian Christians have engaged themselves in...have you ever seen a church where it is declared that members dont need blessing/miracles again becuase they have gotten enough...NEVER, I SAY NEVER....on of the rule is to keep your followers dissatisfied so that they will keep coming.

This is nother form of monumental scam just like they succeeded with tithe scam....ontological inquiry into tithing starts when God demanded that the tribe of Levi be set aside for his work and they are not to have land portions....the remaining ten tribes will work and bring 10percent of the proceeds for the sustainace of the tribe of Priest and Levites....how does tht affect me an African Man, am I a Jew? is there no difference between being a Jew and being an african?.......

Nietzche once highlighted how lazy men have taken over the affairs of the society all in the name of religion.....they dictates our life for us... whom to marry, what to do in your home, whom o give alms to ....etc...

One of the key points about Christianity that made it so successful was in the way that it addressed the question of suffering. Ever since there has been man there has been suffering in man, it abounds everywhere and is something which is impossible to ignore. This is what the G.O's and M.O.G now uses to exploit us....I am expecting backlashes from those NL Christians who follow chirstianity without reservation.
