rationalmind: I'm not the type that dreams often. And I didn't tell you this is the only dream I've had that came true. Moreso, that others are yet to come true doesn't mean they won't come true.

Everybody dreams. Often. They just don't remember it. It's like when you look in a direction for something specific and someone asks what did you see and you say "nothing". That's impossible. You may think that you have seen nothing, but your brain silently and unconsciously records billions of data that you were not interested in at that point which it will analyse later.

On the night of 25th december 2004, I drank like a mad man at a friends house. In the morning, they put me in the car and my girlfriend drove us home. I was passed out all through out and hit the bed when we came home and I slept all morning. When I woke up in the afternoon, I told my girlfriend that I had a dream that there was a great flood that carried everything away. She laughed and told me about the tsunami in South East Asia that morning. Then she told me that the radio was talking about it when we were coming back home and I was passed out drunk in the car. You see, I could have sworn that I never heard the info and that the dream was a supernatural occurence but the truth is that my brain unconsiously recorded what it heard on the radio and played it out in my dream. Everthing has an explanation. We just need to find it.

rationalmind: If the guy that won the lottery saw the numbers in a dream prior to winning, I dont think it will be easy to pass it off as just coincidence or say his brain had unconsciously stored it up

The problem with people like this is that he had also had thousands other dreams where the outcome wasn't as dreamed but chose to ignore those dreams and remembers only that one where the most probable coincidence happened.

rationalmind: I think I share some of your views and thats one of the reasons I don't call myself an athiest. I don't want to be grouped with people who see nothing beyond the material universe.

Something happened to me when I got to 500L. I was to register my courses for the session only to be told by my course adviser he couldnt see the result of a course I had passed while in 200L( had different course advisers in 200L n 500L). He told me I had to re register the course. It was a very terrible course I couldnt just imagine writing again ( Engineering drawing). I wrote a letter to the department of mechanical engineering to please help resend the result to my department. I explained that, when the result was originally released, I had a C (Please note that, in my school, my department to be specific, your exact scores are not released. Just the grades).

When i got home, I was dejected. What if mechanical department said they didnt find the result, that means i have to re-write the exam.

I slept that night and i had a dream. In the dream, i saw that mechanical dept saw my result and said I had 57. When i woke up, i narrated the story to my roomate n he laughed it off saying my thoughts before i slept led to the dream.....

To my greatest surprise, eventually when the result was found by mech dept, they sent my score, 57 to my department. This was a score i had never seen before other than the dream.

It will be difficult to waive the dream and that occurence as just coincidence simply because, I could had had anything between 51 and 59 as C.

While I'm not making any conclusion as regards my experience, it however made me skeptical about attributing everything to the material.

Who knows, maybe one day, science will provide answers to mysteries like this.

But till then, I remain an agnostic.

What happened to you was nothing supernatural at all but your rested brain working out things it had stored up unconsciously.

striktlymi: The above makes sense but it might lead to some unwanted results; e.g:

1) No suspense element. If everyone knows the nature of the event before the due date, then there won't be anything to look forward to.
2) Mods are having some personal ish...they might not work together as we expect.

I have no problem with everybody knowing what is going on. I even think it is better.

If mods can't show some sense of responsibility for this one time event, then it's not worth the effort of organising it.

I would rather we do it here. Obadiah should be a member. He should be in charge of hiding unwanted posts and banning repeat offenders. He has some integrity. The two other mods must accept not to intervene, ie no post hiding (except in extreme circumstance and obadiah is not around, which is very unlikely)

I believe this will keep the process transparent, and prevent us all going elsewhere and restarting another process of registering and all that.

striktlymi: Not sure but I am thinking FB. Maybe create a group there. Each member can create a new FB id that should help with the privacy ish.

striktlymi: It's not about secrecy but about having the freedom to speak our minds without having our comments hidden. We need to explore everyone's thoughts in order to arrive at the best possible solution to any obstacle. We can't do that here because of the sensitive nature of the section.

The nominees will decide the best way to go about this, that would be convenient for everyone. Trust me, Whatever we do will be made public. If it does not, you will be there to speak up. It's all for the good of the section.

I am a very patient person. I seldom resort to anger. Being polite keeps my blood preasure down. I find being polite an effective tool in getting what you want.

It can also really piss people off when they are being confrontational.
