better, all his noise has not gone unnoticed. He really needs to be careful |
As a proper Lagosian born and raised in my father's land, I can categorically tell you that a typical yoruba man is not a bigot neither is he moved by ethnicity or religion. All you even see on nairaland is because of the Igbo bigots and that is about it. Although I am a yoruba muslim ( as most TRUE LAGOS INDIGNES are muslims), it is not religion that drives us but competency which can even turn to oppression at times. Good luck with your quest but I can assure you that if SW is destabilized, the whole country would feel it. |
shymexx: Laughable... It's not by force to write in English, bro.. definitely not |
but the igbos are doing the same with the nigeria army, aviation and customs. |
tarryT: U dey find trouble o... Make those "lord parasites" wey dey form merger everywhere no catch u... ![]() |
ngozievergreen: Kolanut is produced by yorubas more but the hausas eat it more.Mistake my sister. Kolanut is a nut from a tree ONLY found in tropical regions this it is not produced by yorubas but by west africans, NOTE : The only tropical part of west africa so likes of (extreme) northern ghana, Northern nigeria etc does not favour the growth of kolanut. |
Eifeh: Yoruba people how true is this? I have not seeing it in any yoruba restaurant over my 2 year in ibadan. No my brother Egusi or Egwusi is purely Yoruba and not Igbo. Water melon does not in tropical climate like in the east but savannas likes those in northern Oyo, Kwara, Niger, Kogi etc. So given that fact, it could only have been introduced by either nupes or yorubas. Please we should stop feeding people with uncomfirmed informations. |
For some reason, when Northerners talk about the south they mean Igbo in particular. What's up with that?
because yorubas/edos/itsekiri are NOT southerners but westerners |
in support. just post the date |
van bonattel: My friend, it seems you are swimming in an ocean of iberiberismI beg wetin be iberiberism, another achebe's work ? LOOL |
You see op you come across as an unserious fellow. LOL WHAT IS ACHEBEISM ![]() |
van bonattel: Achebeism, a new subject being introduced in secondary schools by Eze Nyesom Nwike. OK on a serious note, what is Achebeism in a short and precise definition ? |
ijaw citizen: The response to the topic was just what I expected. So Pathetic!bia bia bia, Never ever ever compare yorubas to Igbos We don't support corruption and have never supported any corrupted YorubaWe do not like Tinubu and Niaraland does not represent Yorubas . Lagosians don't like tinubu neither do we like GEJ because they are the same |
revolt: M a full nwafor.I'm fully igbo nd on GEJ 2015 I stand. We igbos seem to have gained our rightful dues in this govt @least makes us feel like were of equal rights in naija unlike past govts tht was strictly hausa n yoruba affair plus this govt promotes MERIT. iLike you have a choice. It is either GEJ or political suicide |
not new, the SW and north have done the same. |
very comical ![]() |
Abagworo: Alhaji boko haram please can you educate me on the origin of the name "Yoruba" and which people it was applied to? Were Ijebus Yorubas? Were Ijeshas Yorubas? I'm not interested in migration as everybody seems to have migrated and remigrated. Some people in Ondo like Ilaje claim to have migrated from Ife which means the present day Ilaje was not their home. Same applies to some Igbos that claim to have migrated from Benin and some Ijaws who claim to have migrated from Benin as well. Now I know where your confusion is coming from. The word "yoruba" is a relatively new concept but the nation "Omo Yoruba or Omo Odua" is not new. Lets not mistake the two |
I mean it is ridicules to compare the history of yorubas with the history of Igbos. ![]() |
bigfrancis21: Yoruba is not an indigenous language of Togo. The yoruba speakers found in Togo are yoruba migrants from Nigeria who still make return trips back to Nigeria. Emmanuel Adebayor, the Togolese player, was born in Togo to yoruba migrants from Nigeria. His father still strongly identifies with his ancestral home. Adebayor is as Togolese by birth as any Nigerian kid born in the US is an american by birth, not origin.can you people stop these ignorant statements. No one mentioned Adebayor as his parents are Nigerians. I am talking of indigeous Yorubas in Togo and not likes of Adebayor http://www.linguistik-online.de/43_10/fabunmi.pdf When we say Ewa Agoyin which is a type of beans who do you think we are refering to ? Do you know the meaning of Agoyin ? ![]() This is a book by Robert Smith in 1988 I please you an nnenna should educate yourselves if you are ignorant and stop arguing http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=ric6OhxbCS0C&pg=PA55&dq=indigenous+Yorubas+in+TOGO&hl=en&sa=X&ei=o3NqUbyUKsSn0AXapYGQBg&ved=0CDQQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=indigenous%20Yorubas%20in%20TOGO&f=false Go to places like Tado an Atakpame in togo, there are indigenous and even have a king The word Anago or Nago, where do you think it came from ? From Nigeria or from the sky ? The Itaha group of Togo what do you think they are ? You can educate yourselves more here http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=fwc5AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA14&lpg=PA14&dq=Yoruba+togo&source=bl&ots=baYzgidZ_o&sig=o__Iq2xgvY7b_1Re7dUp2aCGzkA&hl=en&sa=X&ei=pnRqUZyBD-2l0wXaloD4Cw&ved=0CDgQ6AEwATgK#v=onepage&q=Yoruba%20togo&f=false PLEASE ABGAWORO, DO EVER COMPARE YORUBAS TO IGBOS. Igbos are migrates to Cameroun just as they are in Lagos. Yorubas are not Migrates but indignous |
to some people, ACN can never be wrong. Fasheun loves yoruba people more than any tinubu |
These aren't the history makers, these are some of the wreckers of Nigeria.
How ? |
First TV in Africa! Imagine if we had continued with that speed? By now we'd have been the best country in Africa, but now, all we have is regret, hatred and bitterness! And now, south Africa is exporting dstv to us!
You are very correct I could just imagine. Then Idddiots like Tinubu would be comparing himself to Awolowo. |
very good thread |
Haha wow! Seems that the this whole cultural claiming thing is a special Nigerian niche. Ga people and Some parts of Togo are now Yoruba. Some Latin Americans also speak Yoruba as a second language. Okay o.
Cultural claim ? I don't understand. It is what it is, there is no claim. Facts are stated Now when did I infer that Ga people are Yorubas ? Togo yes and quote me anyday Latin America yes, quote me any day |
As much as I question some of the claims being made in the OP's write-ups I can't help but notice that this cultural supremacy war (also aimed at belittling others) is a two-way street. Aside from Benin Republic, I don't think there are other countries with Yoruba speaking groups. Diasporan people that retain several aspects of Yoruba ritual and dance don't count as Yoruba speaking, unless you want to back this up. There are also several cultural remnants of other African groups (including Igbos, Efiks, Sahelian Africans) present in the diaspora as well.
I think I disagree with you in that aspect. I also don't think it is good to make misinforming comments. In as much as it is your opinion, we need to take into consideration how you minds are taking some of this post we write for example the OP is a clear example of misinformation by another party. Yoruba language is spoken in many countries and indeed Yoruba language is indigenous to many countries as well. Yoruba language is a tree on his own aka Yoruboid and Nago. To the extent that the Ga tribe of Ghana ( a very small ethnic group) speak a yoruba dialect and that is why YORUBAS and Hausas were two of the first african migrants to trade in Ghana due to the little or no language barrier for some. Togo is another country where yoruba is spoken there. Places like Plateau Region, Ogou and Est-Mono prefectures; Centrale Region and Tchamba Prefecture. This is a third of the country so lets get our facts right. Disporians you mention are not disporians. Now what is the meaning of dispora and meaning of indigenous ? When a significant amount of people practise, speak and mediate on a culture in the country they call home all their lifes ?, you still call them disporians ? when history is there for us to see |
Thankgodifeduba: yes Igbo means bush in Yoruba. And did you ever bothered to know how come Igbo came to mean bush in Yoruba? Re read my posts again. EGBA(IGBOS) ARE FOREST DWELLERS OR BUSH PEOPLE. Thats how IGBO/ EGBA came to mean BUSH in yoruba LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLYou might be right ![]() |
solomon111: yes,i agree that Nigeria cannot continue the amnesty way.I disagree, the issue of boko haram is not as complicated as we make it look. Listen to their demands and give them. Initially if you have been following the metamorphosis of this group you would observe that their first agitation was the inequality by the government of Nigeria. (I posted this in 2010 when things were still ok). The agitation was borne out of the fact that some parts of the country are collect more money due to the statue of oil producing, then another 13% of the oil budget is given to them apart from their normal share of which likes of Alams became rich from. Their second agitation was the amnesty given to this same state as if the trillions a year is not enough. Knowing full well how short changed their people were, they decided to then take things serious aka bombing. Oh well, we just hope this would reduce the tension a bit |
solomon111: The mend amnesty was carried out very poorly, but atleast it has brought relative peace to the niger-delta,and allowed the army bring down quickly any remaining trace of militancy.WHat, to what year do you think Nigeria can do that for. Amnesty is encourages militancy. Nigeria can afford it but Amnesty is not the way forward. Free money encourages |
A more practical solution to Boko haram is first of all address the issue of amnesty to any stu.pid lazy militants Secondly, arrest likes of dokubo and co and serve their term with hard labour or be killed off for killing millions Thirdly Alams should not be pardon Fourthly, this 13 % crap should stop Then their would be peace |
solomon111: will you please cut the insults?Sir, do you think an amnesty would stop boko haram ? Indeed you sound naive to say the least# Has Amnesty stopped Mend from operating when they are not paid their allowance ? NO DO you think Nigeria upon how much we are struggling and managing can afford Amensty to faceless non existing individuals with account numbers which would be directed to the sponsors account ? Do you think to stop terrorism in Nigeria from springing up again, Amnesty is the answer ? LOL |
thoth: I will really the situation to escalate and degenerate into war, Igbos really need to be taught a lesson. Why ? What have they done ? |
