aurenflani: Ok I get it. So what you are saying is that you want the Yorubas to remain a slave to if igbo-Ijaw? But you people don't even respect the Yorubas and treat them as enemies at any given chance. See what you just wrote above.
My fulani brother, yorubas are no slaves to Igbo/Ijaw

Omexonomy: The yoruba has never being slave to the igbo or ijaw they have always being slaves to the hausa, fulani and kanuri from time imemmorial. As usual thiefnunbu went to his slave master the emir of kano on behalf of the Yoruba people to ask for amnesty for his master sons BH so that Buhari ur master can unseat gej.
My Igbo brother, yorubas are no slaves to hausa/fulani

You all should leave yorubas alone

OP add the following

13. First television station in Africa WNTV now known as NTA started in Ibadan by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. This was before France even had theirs.

14. The first modern free education was stated also in Nigeria by Awolowo even before Britain taught of having one as it was not economical in their own terms.

elopee3000: Yoruba people ve been to America even before Christopher Columbus why did they come back? and still white people came to buy slaves from Yoruba land and took them to Brazil ,please tell this story to egun people in badagry not matured guys like us here.there is no African city name in the whole USA .lagos is Portuguese name just like ondo
You are not only ignorant but also you showed the world how unintelligent you are by suggesting that Ondo is a Portuguese name

That is 1 now answer this questions

1. Was there any african civilization that conquer USA ? You only get a city named after your civilization either through diplomacy or conquest. Conquest is the most common in those times.

I am yet to understand one thing and I really really wish a sensible igboman can answer me without insults

WHY DO BAIFRAN WANT THE WEST ESPECIALLY LAGOS ?

Why Lagos, why is it so important to baifra ? It was a capital of the country but also predominately ethnically owned so why would you choose that as a point of attack because I am really confused on this one.

Thanks
PoliticsRe: Additional Strategies The Biafrans Should Have Adopted To Win The War!!!!!!!!!!! by aljharem(m): 2:35pm On Mar 26, 2013
Another thing biafra could have done is to try to make sure ALL south south groups are for biafra and the SW and middle belt are neutals so your war would be easier.

Biafra as a young nation does not need to trust any nation but need to make sure they dont create enemies and are seen as neutrals by others.

Op

You made your first worst mistake by talking of attacking lagos. Automatically, you have successively created 3 enemies for biafra ( sw, ss and nc) not to talk of other countries such as benin, uk and co.

Secondly, by destroying buildings and not killing people tells your enemy that you are weak. A better way of doing things is to not even attack any one or thing but rather use diplomacy to fight. That way, even neutrals would fight your battle

bolaino: I'm from Delta state my good man, honestly I never expected the answers I got from these ibo people, why are they so full of hatred?
Very good, I am glad you are neither yoruba or hausa but a neutral that see some of the things I see.

I love the way you gave achebe his respect because he was still a great writer and no one can take that from him, however you have hit the nail on the head with great accuracy.

Thanks man but some of us cannot open such a topic without being labeled yoruba, hausa etc
Achebe actually succeeded in denigrating the leaders of other tribes while making his own people the best thing that ever happened to Nigeria. This is definitely not the quality for a man who will make a great contribution to the progress of his country. Great men are never divisive characters, especially when it comes to nation building. Achebe definitely misfired in his last book, and he regretted the uproar the book generated. The book even went to the extent of undermining to genuiness of Igbo intelligentia, hagiographically portraying them false story tellers. It is sad that Achebe who wrote 'Things Fall Apart' in 1958 could descend (through his personal frustration with Nigeria) to the level of writing 'There Was a Country' in 2012. I have read the book twice and I know what am talking about. Nigeria is not a perfect country, and Achebe's last book is definitely a badly written book with his intentions best known to him. Achebe should have known that an elder should not be the one to start a war or foment hatred amongst his people. All the same, we cannot kill the dead. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
sensible igbo man finally

God bless you EOD !!!!!

KenGali: Well if the Generations of Nigerian students who have had to study his work as part of their curricula, for over twenty years do not constitute Average in Your mind Kindly enlighten me on who is. Almajiri is a feature of northern Nigeria, so is below average. but even they will benefit from his work in the course of education in the almajiri schools.
You see the problem here ? His books have not really taught people on how to govern different set of people and taught people how to relate with people.

I my humble opinion I have read "Things fall apart" and "There was a country" two IMO are the most popular of his books. Both of which are not really thought provoking but personal encounters.

Correct me if I am wrong and I am willing to learn from you with superior knowledge.
PoliticsRe: Did Chinua Achebe Actually Do Anything To Promote Development In Nigeria? by aljharem(m): 3:29pm On Mar 24, 2013
KenGali: I think I understand your problem Mr. Harem. Stems from not having seen the doors of the University.

Let me help you, improving better life of an average Nigeria extends beyond infrastructure. Their is such a thing called intellectual development. Achebe contributed greatly to the intellectual development of the majority of Nigerian students by providing them a world class intellectual fodder. Not just for Nigerians, but to the world actually. same as the likes of Charlse Dickens, whose Oliver Twist you must have read.
For the minority African and Nigerians who have to deal withe the rest of the world, He created a great perspective for that interaction on elevated footing in the work, Things Fall Apart.
Thank you.
Oh I see, thanks but you and I would agree that what you just said is what I was getting at

My brother, THAT IS NOT AN AVERAGE NIGERIAN. I hope you are getting my point, what impart has he made for the average almajiri or what you people in the east call "Youths"

Timehin: What a paradox!
Am just wondering when some nls will learn to stop this bigotry eating their souls.
And if i may ask hope u aint finding it challenging raising your yoruba kidshuh Since u claimed your husband family are the only "few" trustworthy amongst us!

No insult intended just asking...
bros you get time oh, you just be watching them dig a pit for themselves without anyone chasing them

Look at what she wrote and yet she is still defending her husband grin

Thus, it you would require a truth serum with a lie detector test machine to extract his true feelings or position on any issue at all.
Then this

Mind you, I'm yoruba by marriage, but i can confidently tell you that apart from my husband's people, i'm yet to come across a yoruba that isn't wholeheartedly anti-igbo and also committed anti-hausa, but just don't have the nerve to express their true feelings in your presence, except when you leave. Most of the yoruba internet warriors here will serve an Igbo friend delicious amala if you visit their homes. But the Igbo that hates yoruba here, will not even invite them to his home. That is the difference, and it is a critical difference when trust is at stake.
grin grin grin grin grin grin grin You really know paranoid people when you see one.

1. She claims she is now yoruba thus part of the people that can't be trusted

2. Based on her assersion, how does she know whether her husband and her people truly love her, OR DID SHE USE A LIE DETECTOR shocked shocked grin grin grin grin grin

3. Achebe married his daughter to another yoruba dude that he does hate and does not trust, does that make him a hypocrite as well ?

All I can do is laugh grin grin grin grin Orisirisi indeed

Any educated non-baised person would understand the QUESTION HERE AND THE ANSWER I AM GETTING

Question

What did Achebe do to improve/advocate to better the life of an average Nigerian

Answer by Igbos bigots

He was an Icon, He wrote so and so book, he brought African/Nigerian Igbo culture to the international literature world, his book is translated to 1200000 languages etc

Has this answered the question I asked or the OP answered ? If indeed we have sensible people who are defending this man know what a direct question and direct answer is.

Look all, I did not see the doors of a university but if indeed this is what University education entails then it is good as I can see lots of wasted investments grin

Simple direct question, to answer it is difficult.

It is clear we have a very big problem with this nation. NO ONE COULD ANSWER A CLEAR CUT QUESTION WITHOUT INSULTS.

They ramble with no answer. See stu.pidity

This does not change my views and respect to the great writer Achebe. I still respect him as a man. So no one should view my CLEAR direct question as disrespect for Achebe.

We love Igbo people. smiley
He doesn't even need to go outside of NL. One member yesterday opened a thread about Achebe, bringing out his works as well as what others said about him as a way to pay him his last respect and wish him goodbye. The guy (alj_harem) that asked the question was too busy dancing up and down yesterday over the death of Achebe to pay it mind. Why then should anyone waste their time educating the well known bigot of NL. Leave him jor.

This thread should have ended hours ago at least in my opinion. I don't even know why the entire eastern and some SS populace are trying to change some bigots mind about this man. What they see him as shouldn't matter really.
one Naira, You sound like one of those that don't even bother to read before replying.

Now here are facts

1. Achebe is a well respected man whether anyone likes it or not. I respect the man's achievement (personal)

2. Achebe's works (writings) are great !

Here is the question

What is Achebe's impact to the life of an average Nigerian ? Did he AT ANY POINT fight or make any impact or even attempt to make the life of any average Nigeria or even Igboman better ? Or he just focused on his writing and his personal acheievement ?
