this onye ofe, when will you ever make a single sense?
But it is what I observed that I am saying

Igbo presidency is dear to Ohaneze (they have the right to do so) and to be president, you need the north as well not just the South. Unless of course my observation is wrong.

You see, Ohaneze does not want to the north to think what's stopping the amnesty are the Igbo leaders. It's call "playing it safe". Good political calculation by Ohaneze.

Iteskiri-Yoruba no difference only iteskiri refused to be identfied as yoruba. Its kinda like the urhobo and isoko situation. some ikwerre and igbo situation. and the names were tosin afejuku, ayo afejuku, neema ajejuku-adelaja. now equally come here and tell me tosin, ayo and adelaja are not yoruba names but benin.
Ok you are right grin grin grin grin

2legit2qwt: It's still less than 10 posts and you've already concluded? WOW! People like you are the reasons why Nigeria is where it is, you don't give anything a chance.

Who says this is gonna completely stop tribalism? This is a step in the right direction to at least curtail it. We need the younger generation to start seeing the positives and stop passing along the venom. This is the same attitude our parents had back then which allowed the whole thing to spiral down. Now you hate someone because of what you most likely never experienced.

It's gotta start someone bro, don't shoot it down at its infancy
Ok I would give it a chance, I would listen to you but if the issue is not addressed in my believe, then it is like fighting the wind. We have some many post, topic articles and even books on nairaland to stop this so called tribalism but it keeps getting worse.

Crayola1: Utter bs. Nigeria is more divided now than it ever has been way before Achebe. Cowards like you like to hide their crimes under a scapegoat to make yourselves feel better. You were a crook long before someone called out your crookedness you are just mad that he called you out. In reality you were never hidden you just thought that the rest of the world was stupid.
yes you are right, with the raise of likes of Boko Haram, surly Nigeria is more divided. Now let me ask you, What is the purpose of Nairaland apart from getting information and trading ? Ofcourse is to SOCIALISE and of course being "Naira"land we are to socialise with people from other cultures in Nigeria.

Now Issues and topics are brought up by people mostly journalist, writers etc outside the walls of Nairaland, if this issues are tribal inciteful surely there WOULD BE ETHNIC WAR IN TERMS OF WORDS. Yes exactly that is where Achebe came in, rather than use his talent to create harmony in the minds of young adults, he used his to create discord.

Not only likes of Achebe, their are others but Achebe comes to mind first.
Roflmfao. Benin really? since I'm on the phone, idk how to take screen pics on it so I'll write it out for you. A small google search of that last name came out with Tosin afejuku, ayo afejuku, neema afejuku-adelaja. I bet all you did was google the man, since there is no biograpghy on him which included his origin thus you saw the university he taught and made the assumption he's from there. SMH. we all know the difference between a benin and a Yoruba name and though una share some alike, this does not look like a benin name and i googled, the man is iteskiri/yoruba. una need to stop lying and using other clans as shield especially you. if you no sabi, mechionugi. how many times have people told you that? sssssh when you don't know
grin grin grin grin Ignorance my brother is your problem. Even if the name is Mayowa Afejuku, it does not change the fact that it is NOT a yoruba name. Maybe Itsekiri, maybe Edo but not yoruba.

That is why I tell you Igbos that the west is more complicated than the uncivilized place you call your village. A man named Henry James might not necessarily be from England he might be french.

A man named Mohammed Sanusi might be necessary be Hausa he might be Yoruba.

very funny. The issue of tribalism on the internet (not only on nairaland) cannot be tackled by mere post, bans and warning. It has to start from the top, likes of Sun newspaper and Odili news. Also with like of Achebe and co inciting the young generations into tribalism, I am sorry but it cannot end, it can only be reduced in moments.

Take this from me. Thanks to Achebe, the progress black have made in years to unite has just been broken again.

By AbdulSalam Muhammad, Kano.
KANO – The President- General Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo World Wide, Chief Gary Nnachi, has enjoined the Federal Government to hasten the Amnesty program to members of the dreaded Boko Haram, so long that will guarantee peace across the federation.

The President General of the Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo who was in Kano in company of top notch of Pan Igbo social group to build confidence among the Igbos in the north following the recent bombing Luxurious Bus Park, noted that “peace is the only thing that will guaranteed development and wellbeing of the Nigerian citizenry and federal government should be in the vanguard of ensuring such peace, therefore the government should do whatever it takes including giving amnesty to the Boko Haram members if they will lay down their Arms and leave peacefully with everybody’.

The Ohaneze boss stressed that “Nigeria is a country for everybody, be it Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa or any other Tribe, we don’t have any other place than this our beloved nation and its time we stop deceiving ourselves and leave peacefully with one another, and the freedom of movement, right to leave and ownership should also be guaranteed’.

Chief Gary Nnachi said that “Nigeria is at cross road, and there has never been a time when the country need everybody to fully participate than now in the development and peaceful coexistence of the nation, as such government should use the opportunity to make sure that such chances are not been neglected”.

The President General, accompanied by the Chairman South East Council of Traditional rulers, HRM Eze C. I Ilomuanyi, Senator Hope Uzodima, Chairman Abia Council of Ndi Eze, Eze JA Akilaro, assured that, “as leaders we will do all we could to make sure that Nigeria leave in peace, and we shall continue to protect other ethnic nationalities leaving in the East”.

On his remarks while at government house, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankawso noted that the last month attacked on the Luxurious Bus Park was nothing but a war without border because it affected almost all Nigerians who are doing business or travelling on that day.

The governor who spoke through the Commissioner of State Affairs, Comrade Aminu Abdusalam, stated that what happened at the Park was most regrettable and condemnable, adding that the attacked simply taught Nigerians to be vigilant in their dealings.

Kwankwaso noted that “the right of living and worship should be ensured and assured to everybody regardless of what he worship or how he wishes to live, so long he has not contravened the laws of the land”, adding that “Kano has been so generous in living with their fellow countrymen, something that has vindicated the fact that the last month attacked was carried out by some miscreants who never wish the state well”.

He said the central message of the government and people of Kano is that “everybody should live in peace and love, with a lot of affections and care, this will inculcate into Nigerians that they are brothers who should help one another in his/her cause.

You see, you all cannot counter my points other than insults and tribalistic slurs
una see why this man irks me so much, if i ever meet him, I'll probably shoot him after I've stomped his head in and take whatever jail time they give me. honestly there is some people that are a waste and this nigg@ is one of them

1.) Achebe was given that name by not igbos, not Nigerians but in fact outside of the shore he came from and till date been recited by other Africans. A mhuge Fact. now go shove your head in a crate of snakes

2.) and who are this nigerians that's criticize him? hmm lets see bigots like are YOU and other yorubas. unknown trying to make a name for themselves like omatseye that's very yorubanized and who else oh year that one bello we've never heard about till today. now compare that to soyinka, okri, heck even most politicians we no like don praise the man. I don't even know why this people, anything they.don't like something they start shouting "majority of Nigeria" like as if their opinion immediately translates as every ones opinion. my guy sit your chamelon @ss down. don't even try on the comparison on how much he's condemned compared to how much he's praised before or even after his death. me and you know who will lose if we all start trolling this forum with praise against critcism.

3.) so is this man trying to tell us the entire world are uneducated including most nation journalist, writers and especially African writers including the one you are comparing Achebe to really? even went as far to call them ungod fearing?even mendela? see your stupd1ty you no dey shame.

4 and 5.) monkey telling people how someone benefitted them or not. na u be master to preach, taking aspirin for everyone abi? even going to the point of talkig about sh1t he's clueless on.better go and read about his african series work. abeg sit your chamelon, monkey looking, bigotted @ss down. its not a must you have to jump on every thread jumping around like an illiterate on crack. when people are conversing and you have nothing tangible to add, be like the rest of us and STFU. don't make yourself look like a damn fool. Ewu
Lie number 1 : Just like many icons in history which have been over-emphasised by their race, ethnicity and culture, likes of Ojukwu, Gadaffi, Bush are no different from Achebe rise to "unglorious glory" by his people aka Nigerians/Blacks. I liked Achebe and no matter what I say, those that would respect him would still do so.

Lie number 2 : Criticism would always come from those he defamed in his last book. Whether you like it or not Achebe's name would some disappear as he had no record set neither did he do anything worth emulating or remembering that likes of other non-bigoted writers don't have.

Foreign Journalism : All they did is pay respect to a man like Micheal Jackson who would rather associate with other countries than his fellow people. Question why was Achebe in America not Africa ? Do you think likes of Mandela would be respect by blacks if he ran to UK rather than stay in SA ?

Lastly, again what is the point of all the respect and "adoration" if he cannot use his power and influence to help those with no voice.

Look in as much Emeaguali is a fraud, I would always respect him more than Achebe. Take it or leave it and anyone that know the history and life style of the 2 would do the same.
PoliticsRe: Sam Omatseye, Under-Fire For Column On Achebe by aljharem(m): 10:24pm On Apr 08, 2013
Look here are facts and I am waiting for any bigot to dispose of it.

1. How did Achebe frictional/personal encounter translate to African writer's best

2. Achebe can never be respect in Nigeria because of his last book that has destoryed the progress we have tried to foster among Igbos with other ethnic group

3. The world elite and educated, God fearing ones can never respect Achebe because he was a known bigot

4. Achebe has achieved nothing for Igbo people other than create hate in the hearts of younger generations fact

5. Not only did he not achieve anything for Igbo people but also he has no contribution/charity/foundations etc for any african society upon his statue so of what purpose is his "respect"

It also baffles me that some people actually think Jonathan had a deal with Tinubu to deliver Lagos votes to him. How's that even possible? Most of my family voted for GEJ except myself.
