Alj-harem,

You miss the whole point, what has revenue generation got to do with contribution to economy?  shocked shocked shocked Although I don acknowledge that IGR is directly related to economic fiscal policies such as taxes etc, but that does not answer the question of what contributes to the economy. Rather than arguing on false rumors, my advice is to take a look at

1. What contributes to the growth and development of Nigerian economy (or GDP)?

2. What are their components and sub-components and how do they measure up across regions?

A lot of you guys call oil, oil contributes about 14% to our economy (third), Retail trade contributes about 19% to our economy (second), while Agriculture contributes about 43% (First) to our economy. Having seen that about 73% of our economy comes from these, I was expecting someone to explain further how these components attribute to each region and their contribution.

This is one of the reasons why I like to stay away from topics like this because it's hard explaining certain things for some folks
1. Again SW contributes more GDP than SE minus lagos in terms of GDP according to you

Rank    State                     GDP (PPP$)
1 Lagos State           33,679,258,023
2 Rivers State          21,073,410,422

36 Yobe State      2,011,499,081
-       FCT                   5,010,968,012

Now the zonal contribution in GDP terms according to you

South -south total GDP contribution = 74.52 billion dollars

South-west total GDP contribution miuns lagos = 45.13 billion dollars

North west total GDP = 41.28 billion dollars

South east total gdp = 36.79 billion dollars

Please NL I am tired of all these idle talks that must ALWAYS connect IGBO, IGBO. . Can someone explain to me why it is easy for anyone not to identify Kwara state as North Central, but  rather, Tunder Bakare  (just an example of Kwara man) is always seen as Yoruba/SW.
But All Igbos in Delta,Rivers and Bayelsa are always stressed to be SS. Please did God create any tribe called SS.

Can we discus something other than to hunt Igbo,Igbo interest and Igbo identity. This shows me all eyes of Nigeria are on NDIGBO, na waaaoooooooooooooooooooo. Enough of this nonsense, or is it because the owner of NL is a Yoruba ma (Oluwaseun).
"If you are busy talking about someone, you make him very important"
"If you always identify others faults, you forget you have one and yours get worse"
Atypical example is the fact that this present government seems to be without the SW. The previous ones that had them, they would always shout on the media(all media) that others (Igbos, Ijaws etc) are not politically sophisticated and hence have lost out. Now look at the offices of the Federal government and tell for yourself

Please let us discus ideas not tribes and poeple especially Igbo man

PoliticsRe: If There Is Sovereign Nationational Conference, What Wld You Demand? by aljharem(m): 1:14pm On Feb 04, 2012
1. I would demand the country divides into 3 regions again with part of delta in the eastern region and part of the north central in the western region. To avoid any future fight

2. Each region should control their resources be it oil, agriculture etc you control you own thing

3. Each region control their police system and it is completly detached from the center

4. each region contributes certain billions to the center regardless of what you earn or what resources you have

5. We have only one capital commercial, admisrative etc all in one state or FCT

6. The only job the FG needs to do is organised the military, build 6 roads that link each region and other international events

7. No matter what is happening, they do not intervain into any region's business unless it is affecting other regions

8. Everyone goes back to their cultural state, there is no I am yoruba but born in Kaduna or I am igbo but born in lagos. Unless they want to fight for nothing because hostility would increase greatly

9. Each region builds their own univeristies etc there are no more federal road, federal university, federal hospital etc it ends

10. No one drop of oil should be taken from the Niger-delta again ( I mean parts of delta, balysea, rivers) unless the new eastern Region decides to or not

I am only trying to show those that call others disgusting names such as parasites who they really are.

"It is a case of remove the log for your own eyes before removing the speck from others"

In terms of Individuals

we have

1. Ibeto - SE

2. Adeunga - SW

3. Dangote - NW

4. Innoson - SE

5. Onado - SW

6. Danjuma - NC

7. Dantata group - NW

8. Coscharis - SE

9. Silverbird - SS

10. Dopeski - SS

So all this who contribute what etc is a dead argument to me. Those living in Nigeria, look around you and tell me what you see, yes poor people. Yet we come on the internet everyday calling other parasites etc. It makes no sense

Although I had to show some people the mirror so they see their reflexion and relax to see they are not the only ones contributing into this Nigeria project.

Again once we learn to respect ourselves then we can move forward
PoliticsRe: What Does The Ss/se Contribute To Nigeria? by aljharem(m): 12:08pm On Feb 04, 2012
@manny for life

1. Apart from South-south, the South-west has the highest IGR for Nigeria miuns Lagos and followed by the SW

2. Cocoa is the second highest foreign ezchange earner in Nigeria while rubber is third and the fourth is palm oil of which are all produced in the SW region and cowpea/soyabean are firth are produced in the north

The agricultural products of Nigeria can be divided into two main groups: food crops, produced for home consumption, and export products. Prior to the civil war, the country was self-sufficient in food, but imports of food increased substantially after 1973. Bread, made primarily from US wheat, replaced domestic crops as the cheapest staple food for much of the urban population. The most important food crops are yams and manioc (cassava) in the south and sorghum (Guinea corn) and millet in the north. In 1999, production of yams was 25.1 million tons (67% of world production); manioc, 33.1 million tons (highest in the world and 20% of global production); cocoyams (taro), 3.3 million tons; and sweet potatoes, 1,560,000 tons. The 1999 production estimates for major crops were as follows (in thousands of tons): sorghum, 8,443; millet, 5,457; corn, 5,777; rice, 3,399; peanuts, 2,783; palm oil, 842; sugar cane, 675; palm kernel, 565; soybeans, 405; and cotton lint, 57. Many fruits and vegetables are also grown by Nigerian farmers.

Although cocoa is the leading non-oil foreign exchange earner grown in the southwest, growth in the sector has been slow since the abolition of the Nigerian Cocoa Board. The dominance of smallholders in the cocoa sector and the lack of farm labor due to urbanization holds back production. Nigeria has the potential to produce over 300,000 tons of cocoa beans per year, but production only amounted to 145,000 tons in 1999. Rubber is the second-largest non-oil foreign exchange earner. Despite favorable prices, production has fallen from 155,000 tons in 1991 to 90,000 tons in 1999. Low yield, aging trees, and lack of proper equipment have inhibited production.

Fact!

In 1990 Nigeria overtook Liberia as the largest rubber producer in Africa. Production rose from 60, 000 tons in 1986 to 147, 000 tons in 1990. It dropped to 125,000 tons in 1995 and 107, 000 tons in 2000 but went up again in 2003 to 142,000 tons and remained at 142, 000 in 2004. Benefits from a replanting programme in the eastern States, Edo and Delta states have yet to materialize, and local demand from tyre and footwear industries continues to outstrip domestic supply. A programme to increase output of rubber and palm kernels, with financial assistance from the World Bank, is being implemented. Also various state governments are encouraging farmers to increase rubber production by providing interested farmers with subsidies (FMEN, 2001). Compared to the previous years’ production (1995 – 1997), cottonseed has continued to increase and some of the reasons for the increase were considerable public and private investment in the sector, as well as incentives for local textile companies and higher tariffs on imported cotton.

This happened due to SS/SE

Abuja - Following the expected loss of AU chairmanship to Boni Yayi of Benin Republic, President Goodluck Ebeble Jonathan’s administration today threatened to breakaway from Africa and form an independent continent of Nigeria.

In a terse press release signed by Mr. Reuben Abati, Nigeria stated:

"Since Africa does not consider our President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan good enough for the Chairmanship of the African Union, then Africa does not deserve our presence on the Continent."

Following the statement, Africa's most populous nation has given the AU an ultimatum of 1 week to regroup and crown GEJ the head of the prestigious union otherwise there shall be consequences.

The press release also advised the advisory body of AU not to bother trying to contact GEJ on the matter as it is non-negotiable. The document pointed out that the Nigerian president is currently too busy negotiating with more important personalities like Boko Haram who the AU should not force him to exile to their countries.

http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=229187

Meanwhile, Gminers, cabals, and members of parliament are believed to have secretly convened to decide how Nigeria’s breaking away from Africa should be organized to ensure that the Igbos and other Southerners do not use the opportunity to slip away into the Atlantic with their oil and also form their own continent.

Abegi angry angry angry stop that rubbish, it is a know fact that the only animals reared in Nigeria in large scale are in Kwara, Ogun, Adamawa, Nasawara, Borno, Jigawa and kebbi.  Infact the word fulani cow is not new to the market

6. Right now food produce are being smuggled from Benin Republic (seme border). A time would come when we would begin growing our own foods in massive quantities or we simply import from Benin Republic (seme border)
Yes some smuggled but majority of the food are either imported or grown in Nigeria. and you know it

40% of out GDP is from argiculture. 30% of our National consumsion is home grown

fuckilious:
7. Wheat is does not come from the North,  it is imported? Find out and you would discover that most of the wheat used in the South is imported!
Some are imported and some are grown in the north. Nigeria export wheat to even EU and USA

10. Dangote is a big company no doubt, but there are other smaller companies that rival each of his companies (when it comes to flour ---> Nigeria flour mills, cement, sugar all have companies that compete with Dangote!)

I can keep going on and on,
@alj harem your point are useless,  please verify my replies and you would see that I just gave facts!
Alhaji, we are not talking about natural resources put there by Allah which the SS people have nothing to do with. What have they contributed?

Their governors have received $1trillion or more to date, that is not a bad repayment if you ask me.  What portion of that money did they budget to reclaim their land which may have been destroyed by oil exploration? I do agree with you that, more should be done to clean up the damage.

What annoys me is that as soon as Shell and others payoff their elders, the companies are allowed to continue to exploit with impunity.
LOL yet they always blame the Northerners, SWers.

One of the richest Nigerians today are like of edwin clark and co who have used this money to fund weapons instead of development for the state.

I have studied their politics languages etc in the south-south and I can say one thing is certain ,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,., I would put you on the suspense grin grin grin

Now What does the South-east produce ?

The IGR of showed they were one of the lowest and they makes the most noise here.

Higest is the south-south because of Oil

followed by the South west because of Oil and agriculture minus lagos

followed by the noth west because of agriculture

followed by the North central

then south east before north east

yet they would say others are parasites lipsrsealed

South-South have contributed Oil to Nigeria. The only thing Nigeria used to repay them is to destroy their livelihood. that to me is not fair.

SE oya defend yourselves since you shout more than the South-southerners themselves
