eku_bear: Nah, I don't like Beaf's sycophantic attitude w.r.t. GEJ, but it isn't really for ethnic reasons, imo. He is against the existing power structure mostly, and he believes that GEJ is the best bet to change things. no i know it not because of ethnic reason, the reason he is dating GEJ balls is because he has a connection with him and he will benefit from his government may he is his child, cousin, political related,.,. there is a connection trust me,.i know that is why people like him are bas.tards because they do not want the nation to grow instead they put there interest first |

first of all, how does he intend to do this when his people are kidnapping traditional leaders and are protesting for anemesty money as if they can not work for money themselves like other nigerians.
secondly, if he does not make basic amenties in nigeria avalible for nigerians, then tribalism will never end,.,,.,.

excanny: You are correct. Epe is quite rural. Even the Yorubas from other state hardly live there, usually it's the natives you find around there. But most of the youth leave those areas to the more populated areas as soon as they become young adults.
Apapa and its environs however hold very little presence of Yorubas. It seems these areas never had any native settlements.
But all in all, there.g no doubt the Yorubas still command a large presence in Lagos. It's either they are at par with the non-Yorubas or slightly less. maybe we can never tell unless there is an ethnic census in Lagos |

excanny: Maybe his 45% percent might have been exaggerated. But it's actually nothing less that 30%. You hardly go into some of those corners Wadoeye mentioned without running into an Igbo.
But have you considered the Edos, Urhobo/Isokos, Igalas, etc. This will surely give their votes to Jonathan. you are right about considering the population of edo, urhobo/isoko, igala and even hausa/fulani but the population of igbos in lagos is almost at par with the population of us northerners together if not less. there are lot of areas in lagos that you will not find 1 igbo or northerner there,.,.,., there was a time i went to deep epe because my wife wanted to buy fish. the people i saw were mostly from benin republic yoruba and indigeous yoruba.,.,.,., no single igbo or northerner now that is just an area there are others,.,. infact i can count the amount of igbos in isale eko and ebuta-metta they are not more than 10,000 at most (ie maximum which i over estimated ) there are others like that even ikoyi, VI it is mostly yoruba northerners and few rich igbos lekki is mostly yoruba as well few igbos and very very few northerners makoko is mixed with about 60% yoruba and 40% igbo ajegunle is mixed with igbos, ijaw and yoruba equally even idumota is not sure for igbos i can go on and on and on but if you think of it even sokoto state have igbo area, yoruba area and other areas,.,.,.,. just my mind |

Now shut up, because this topic deals with politics. Is creating a thread dedicated to Igboland bad?
yes it is bad, infact it is terrible in the sense that igbos are nigerians and what affect igbos affect everyone in nigeria. how many ethnic groups have you seen do that if not igbo. it just shows that there is inferiority complex worrying igbos on nairaland it is all about igbo, why not go to the cultural section |

EzeUche_: The PEOPLE do not know what is good for them. This business as usual attitude that I see prevalent in Nigeria is astounding. I have a hard time comprehending, why the people do not rise up against our leaders. In addition, I cannot understand why Nigerian leaders, who have been abroad, do not wish to emulate the infrastructure of the developed countries they have been too. ezeuche, it goes more than that our leaders know what to do but they can not do it for simple reason called internal forces (tribalism, business men etc) and external forces (UN, western countries etc) |

ChinenyeN: Alj Harem, every group must not respond the same way to a particular situation, and not everyone within a particular group must respond the same way to a particular situation. Ngwa does not have to respond the same way Nnewi, or Oka, etc. respond. Likewise, I don't have to respond the same way some of my uncles and aunts have. By the way, discrimination has long since been happening. Most of it is more or less taunting, but it's discrimination nonetheless, and I've given it a good thought, for the past 4 years or so, but to be honest, my mindset just isn't bringing me to that point where I can simply say "yes", as if it doesn't matter. It's just not there for me. Thanks, I guess. perfectly understood, not everyone has to respond to something; yes you are very right but brother come to think of it, the world is globalizing and most people are now speaking english. now brother not that i mean to offend you but do you think ngwa will survive in the mist of 1 igbo dialect and english answer, i may but it is very much likelly to be diluted with the 1 igbo dialect and most of the ngwa words will be missing also do not get me wrong, i see were you are coming from (as an individual) but at the end of the day it is your choice brother i mean no one will live forever ( you might want something, the next generation might want another). thanks for you time alj harem |

afam4eva: You will feel more comfortable speaking English to a unified Igbo? I'm really not in favour of the extinction of our dialect but at the same time i hate your guts. You seem to hate the idea of being Igbo. Why not join your Ikwerre brother who have disclaimed their ethnic heritage instead of always causing discord in Igbo threads. I've never met an Igbo person like you in my life. TUFIAKWA can you just be sensible for once !!!! learn to talk to people ChinenyeN: I think you really misunderstood that statement. When I said I feel more comfortable speaking English, I meant that literally I feel more comfortable speaking English. For as long as I can remember I haven't really been able to grasp speaking central. I can write it okay, but speaking it is something completely different. I've been told that I actually don't sound right, and I stutter quite a bit when I try to speak it. Then there's the aesthetic factor, where forming my mouth in such a way to make those sentences feels very awkward. It has nothing to do with hating the idea of being Igbo. So, please don't misconstrue my statement. No form of speech is easy to preserve in its original form, unless of course it is a dead language. ChinenyeN, i agree with you that we can keep our dialect; whether ngwa, oku, nnewi, oka etc but brother you have to see reason here, what i mean is that; there have to be common language that unite us igbos think of it, in the future when all the igbos have adopted 1 dialect and ngwa is still differnet, do you not think ngwas then will say they are not igbos or do you not think discrimination will start think if oka, nnewi etc drop there dialect for the greater good in aligbo what make ngwa different remember unity is first before any dialect we are keeping, the more united we are in terms of language and culture the better it is for us. i know you love ngwa dialect but at the end of the day, please ChineneyeN give it a good thought |

dominique: igbos on nairaland, this 'everybody-hates-us-cos-we're-ibo' attitude is starting to get old. you people are guilty of the tribalism you're forever accusing the yoruba of. i'm starting to get paranoid if my ibo friends are really my friends afterall you have to understand the igbo brain there are 2 types of igbos in the world 1.) the biafra supremest ones /stup.id ones mostly found in the east of nigeria and america 2.) live and let's live igbos they love everyone,.,.,., they are mostly found in lagos, abuja etc now you have to ask you friend what he think about biafra to be able to categorise him/ her if his respond is " i do not care we are brothers" or something along that line, then he is number 2 but if it is " you bloody yoruba/ hausa people are killers may they rot in hell" or something along that line then he is number 1 try it it works all the time i am igbo myself |
