Quite on the contrary, northerners are not that greedy so I am sure the Kanuris would be willing to share. cool
On the other hand I can easily imagine how your greedy lot would start scheming and squabbling among yourselves for greater than your own fair share till you break up from national to village level and beyond - it won't surprise me one bit, cos thats what you could expect from those that can eat their own cannibalistic kind angry

Sokoto Caliphate fell under the weight of the British quite easily, even though they had firearms. And their Emirs were left paying homage to their white masters. Funny how these weak people didn't want the British to leave them.  grin
you and chyz do not know what you are talking about

did the sokoto caliphate fight against the british people when they came

do you think if they did not respect us, they will successful rule us

Their is something i don't understand, why should we support the huasas to go but not the ibos. Am i missing something?
yes you are missing a lot because igbos are the weakest people in africa

they never had an empire nor a king, thus no ruler to coordinate them in battle

hausa people, fulani people, kanuri people, even yoruba and edo people all have kings and leaders to coordinate them so it is a bit difficult to tell them NO if they want to secede

igbos are known to be secessionist even to there ethnic group

moreover igbos can leave so long it is just the 5 igbo states and nothing else unlike biafra that had, cross river, akwa ibom, baleysea etc

well, we need to get some of the oil revenue since we had to pull up with these people for too long
gbammm, remember some of our northern brothers have oil blocks in niger/delta and south-east

that way northern solders can secure those oil blocks and can through air we can be getting some of the oil in the north

remember most southerners are dishonest people, the yorubas will not remember 3rd mainland bridge by ibb (a northerner)

the igbos will not remember health services and others things they have benefitted from northern leaders including abacha

all they do is hate and hate

well i still support solders been taken to south-south and south-east to protect our brothers that are drilling the oil for us wink

PoliticsWhy North Dumped Atiku by aljharem11(op): 5:11pm On Jan 15, 2011
THE perceived sins of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar against northern leaders during his first term in office played a major part in the decision of the region to turn away from him in spite of the Mallam Adamu Ciroma-led Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) to prop him up as the region’s consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Saturday Tribune’s investigation revealed that despite spirited attempts of the so-called “nine wise men” to appeal to the sentiments of the region using PDP zoning argument, the people shunned the Turaki Adamawa in Thursday’s primary election in favour of President Goodluck Jonathan because they have not forgotten his insult on northern leaders.

Specifically, it was gathered that prominent people in the North worked against the election of Atiku over his criticism of northern elite during a Northern Economic Summit public lecture in Arewa House, Kaduna, while he was serving as vice president.

In an apparent effort to drum up support for the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, during the lecture, he blamed the poverty and underdevelopment of the region on the pursuit of self interest rather than the people’s interest by the leaders.

Atiku accused northern elite of piling up money in pits and under their beds while the rate of poverty among ordinary people of the region continued to soar.

According to Saturday Tribune sources, “Atiku came to Arewa House to abuse our leaders in their presence when he knows that in the North, we revere our leaders. Nobody has forgiven him since then.”

They were also miffed by his privatisation exercise which he spearheaded as they believed that he carried out the campaign for the benefit of Southerners rather than the North, his primary constituency.

The former vice president was also never forgiven for other comments he made which appeared to hurt the sensibilities of the North, including his declaration that even though the North was his primary constituency, he would never be tempted to use his position as vice president to feather his political nest.

CrimeRe: Biafra: The Nigerian Civil War In Pictures (Warning Disturbing Images) by aljharem11(m): 2:49am On Jan 15, 2011
beneli:
No, Alhaji, the war did not happen in 'a distant past that everyone in Nigeria has forgotten'.

The war was from 6th July 1967 to 15th January 1970. It was not 'about 50 years ago' - today is 41 years since it ended. And it may interest you to know that even here on NL you have a few people who actually fought . . . and were scarred. . . in that war.

If, like you hinted, you prefer 'to forget' such a tragedy that happened in your nation - and even in your own family, as according to you, your own relatives were also victims - you may want to know that a lot of people have not forgotten. They may have moved on, but they still carry the memories and the scars with them. . .

Perhaps these pictures tell only the Biafran side of the story, as some are quick to mention. That's fine, but like I mentioned in my other post on this thread, these pictures tell part of our collective story. . . they are part of Nigeria's history, just like the other pictures the poster has been kindly posting in the politics and the culture sections of NL. And as a nation we should not - infact we cannot afford to - forget this part of our history, lest we allow it to occur again.

People who feel uncomfortable that only half of the story is being told, should endeavour to post their own pictures so that we can see our 'complete' history of the war in all its glory . . . and gory. That's what they should do. And not to continue to berate a hurting people.

The truth is that very few nations - infact hardly any nation - can heal if they do not talk about their pains. When they try to suppress it, it finds outlets, which ultimately force them to come back to deal with their issues. Personally I think that if Nigeria really wants to heal then it should confront the ghosts of its past and try to resolve the underlying problems.

Trying to sweep the problems under the carpet is not a good strategy at all.

@ MzD@rkSkin, your observation is the reality - to some people it was - and always will be - about the oil. Human lives lost or destroyed means nothing . . .
I have to forget about it because i can not be holding hate in my heart just because of some people's mistake undecided

Should i say because i have died family member during the war, i should hate my igbo brothers,,,,,NO

If some igbos still hate Nigeria for the war, why do they interact other non-biafrans as if they are friends undecided

@ Akhenaten,

You're right. Sometimes I don't know what Ohanaeze is doing. They should start persuading our people up there to come back to the East permanently. If they knew what they were doing, they should have scheduled it for upto 5 (or 7 ) years for a proper un-rushed resettlement in the East. Last year over 150 Yorubas were murdered. Did they ask all Yorubas to leave jos(I know they dont ask for their dead).

Have the hausa fled jos?

If you are brave enough to go up North. Protect yourself. Fight back or die as a weaklings. All Igbos up there knows this. So they should be prepared to be hit or go back home.
