Crime › Re: Biafra: The Nigerian Civil War In Pictures (Warning Disturbing Images) by aljharem11(m): 7:05pm On Jan 11, 2011 |
Mrs, Eve: From my understanding the Igbos wanted their own country. I do not see any harm in that. Traditional tribes were bent on having their own "land" and separate from other tribes or land. I listened to some of the stories from my Igbo families of how they lived through that and how bleeped up it was.
I wasn't born at the particular time but I can imagine what they been through according to my Igbo family. Mrs Eve, there is nothing wrong in them having there own country, absolutely nothing i think Gowen did a great disservice to Nigeria and also to the igbo people |

Culture › Re: Discrimination In Igboland by aljharem11(m): 6:50pm On Jan 11, 2011 |
Akhenaten: I do agree that Ebonyi people are often mocked. Many Igbos considered the Igbo clans from Ebonyi as backwards in a way. However, I do not think it is outright discrimination in the sense that they are preventing Igbos from Ebonyi state from achieving anything.
Igbos are known to talk about other clans so you should not lose sleep over that. People in my region like to make fun of Mbaise people. It is just harmless stereotypes.
You find this in many countries. People from New York dislike people from Boston. People from the West Coast used to dislike people from the East Coast. And so on and so on. This is not new.
No need to blow it out of proportion. Just grow a tougher skin. i understand what you mean, but do you not think that the people have to be educated to respect others, i might be, because just because u can take it does not mean other can do the same |

Akhenaten: There are similarities amongst most Nigerian cultures though. The Igbo clans of Onitsha, Anioma Igbo, Ika, Ukwuani, were heavily influenced by the Edo. Southern Nigeria has it linkages, that people rarely mention.
The Yoruba have been influenced by the Edo and Nupe and vice versa. We need to start recognizing our similarities instead of our differences. i like that |

Akhenaten: My question is, why do Igbos continue to go up North?
Is our love for money that great? For some reason, I have no pity for my brothers and sisters up North.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. why are you going to talk like that they have every right to go to every part of the country as they deem fit,, why can't they come to the north @ topic why are hausa people killing igbo are they crazy ,,,,,, 150 already those soldiers need to be arrested for not handling the situation in jos, i hope it does not spread round the country |
