Djourou out for 6 MONTHS!

Arsenal defender Johan Djourou will be missing for six months, L’Équipe has revealed.

The 22-year-old Swiss international was expected to return to the squad later this month, but Djourou has been forced to get his troublesome knee cartilage problem operated on which means he will be on the sidelines for six months.

Although Djourou’s injury is a massive blow to Arsenal, they can count themselves lucky as his fellow compatriot Philippe Senderos is still available as back-up at centre-half.

Senderos was close to leaving the club this season, though it looks like he will be needed now along with former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre.

Alex Song, Mikael Silvestre, Philippe Senderos, William Gallas, Thomas Vermaelen, Kyle Bartley, Gavin Hoyte.

Bendtner and Denilson sign new Arsenal contracts

Denmark striker Bendtner, 21, and Brazilian midfielder Denilson, 21, have been rewarded for their impressive progress at the Premier League club over the last year.

Bendtner scored 15 goals in 50 appearances last season and has become a first-team regular this term following Togo forward Emmanuel Adebayor's departure to Manchester City.

"Nicklas has impressed me highly with his application and determination over the last season, you can see that he wants to compete at the highest level and win things with his team-mates," Wenger said.

"He scored a number of important goals for us last season and he will look to replicate that again this year. However, it's not just about the goals, his all round contribution has improved and will continue to do so."

Denilson, who joined the Gunners from Sao Paulo in 2006, established himself as a regular in Wenger's midfield last season, making more appearances than any other Arsenal player during the campaign.

"Denilson's contribution to the club last season was outstanding," Wenger said. "His work rate really was exceptional and it is valuable to have players that we know will perform to the very last minute in such a demanding league."

I don't have your time. . . . .Arsenal were BEATEN by the better side.
United had more possession, more shots on target and more corner-kicks.
After 95 mins. . . .It was Man Utd 2-1 Arsenal. Now go and worry about Citeh.
Citeh? that's BONUS!  grin grin

you have to worry abt Spuds and ofcourse Citeh in your next game as well. . .i see UTD coming out with 1 point of our a possible 6 at their best and at worst . . . they will come out 0/6 points tongue tongue tongue
