Jarus: SUBS 12, BABATUNDE: Thrown into the fray for injured Oduamadi, and disappointed big time. I wonder how Keshi selected someone that plays in one backwater club in Ukraine that scored 2 goals in 44 matches. He doesn’t have the quality – maybe yet – to be a Super Eagles player. 3/10 13, AKPALA: I still wonder why Keshi invited this guy. He scored just one goal for Werder Bremen in Bundesliga last season and made fringe appearances. Yes, he used to prolific in Belgium, but football is about form. Bad decision on Keshi’s part. 3/10 14, Mba: Keshi threw in a midfielder with eye for goal for a good, but not-known-for-scoring Ogu. He needed an equalizer. But it was too little too late. The ‘elephant killer’ didn’t make much impact. 3.5/10 COACH: His attackers once again failed him. I’m not sure he made the right decision throwing Babatunde into the game that early. 4.5/10 OVERALL NEGATIVE: Super Eagles need sharp attackers. All their recent goals were scored by wingers, midfielders and even defenders (Mikel, Oboabona, Echiejile, Oduamadi and Musa). No reliable top 9 yet. I still think Martins and the Uche brothers are still relevant to this team. OVERALL POSITIVE: I think we expected too much from this team and we are impatient. The team is still under construction and these boys are still young. We also forget that Uruguay are champions in a continent that has Brazil and Argentina. What’s more, Forlan, Suarez and Cavani are no small players in world football. Not forgetting others players from Athletico Madrid, Liverpool etc. And this is a team we expected our own Ukraine and Belgian leagues players to defeat. It was a decent showing in my opinion.
http://jarushub.com/2013/06/21/player-rating-nigeria-vs-uruguay/ l completely agree with you; Uruguay is among the top 10 fifa team and also came 4th in the last world cup so I had always expected the Uruguay team to beat us because they have more world class players than our team. The only world class player in our team is mikel; while the other players are just average players. Considering the fact that we were the underdog, our players tried their best but were outclass by a better team. |

ivory23456: I got there at 5.30am for my 7.30am interview, lol. Black American lady Interviewed me at about 8:30am. I tried to greet and smile but was too tired, didn't bother. VO: pass me your docs VO: why did you choose pittsburg state uni? ME: its accredited by the AACSB and..... VO: (cut me short) that's same with all business schools. ME: (I just continued talking sha, cause I didn't want all I had planned to say to leave my head). Accreditation by that board is the highest standard of achievement for business schools, and as a graduate student I'd be open to research opportunities. Asides that the degree plan of psu consists of other fundamental components of ther programs like finance, HOUR, Internal auditing and these jobs are usually given to foreign professionals to handle for us in Nigeria(stole this line from mamacita) VO: where did you do your undergrad study Me: Uniabuja VO: what have you been doing since then? ME: did my nysc, got a certificate in mgt from NIM and joined the family business as a business analyst VO: what's the business about? ME: we supply, repair and do maintenance of computer systems for large companies. VO: did you apply to any other school Me: Yes, Portland State Uni and...(she cut me short again) VO: so why did you pick Pitts state over Portland ME: said same answer as b4 about degree plan of Pittstate VO: so what do you plan to do with this degree ME: I intend to grow the family business and get a top management position in a Nigerian bla bla VO: who is sponsoring you? Me: my sister VO: How many children in your family? ME: 5 VO: what position are you? ME: Last child( I'm not last, I'm 4th. Just said to make my case sweeter) VO: did you do any tests? ME: Yes, GMat and Toefl VO: oh, that's great. ME: (was about to bring out test score paper) she said don't bother. VO: so I'm approving your visa....bla bla bla ME: I said thank you like 4 times, lol VO: she just kept smiling I sha hurriedly left b4 she'd change her mind... That's it o, not a single documents was asked from me. The fasting and prayers paid off. Follow God o.lol Congrats. I am glad you finally got the visa.. |

stabbo: Thanks for the GRE link francis, my interview on May 8 went thus:
V.O: Gd afternoon, Me; Gd afternoon...I handed her my documents
V.O: Why are you going to the US? Me: To study for my masters V.O: What school? Me: Academy of art university
V.O: Whats your course? Me: MFA in Web design and new media (V.O then checks my i-20 again, the course name on my i-20 is "Web page, digital multimedia and inform",but the course name at the school and on my acceptance letter is actually "Web design and new media". She tries to confirm the name of my course and I explain to her telling her the actual name of my course which I was accepted for. She then says ok and continues typing on her computer.)
V.O: How long do you intend staying in the US? Me: I intend staying for 2 years (On my i-20 it says 4 years but Im sure I will complete my requirements within 2 years and I dont intend staying for longer)
V.O: When are you resuming classes? I told her precisely when (At this point she was putting the green pick up ticket in my passport, then she continues on her computer)
V.O: Whos paying for your trip? Me: My Mom
V.O: What does she do? Me: She imports heavy duty vehicle parts and computer accessories from the UK)...She types on her computer briefly
V.O: What have you been doing since you graduated? Me: I have been working (I briefed her on my work history precisely since I graduated in 2010)
V.O: How much do you earn monthly? Me: 150k basic plus add ons amounting to about 190k (she then continues her typing for a bit and then says, "Im sorry but unfortunately I cannot grant you a visa at this time, Im very confused as I thought she was about to approve me and I then walk away dejected).
The interview was quite brief and I answered her questions as accurately and sincerely as I could, she didnt ask to see any documents and I got the feeling she wanted to approve my visa from her first impression. Please explain where I could've gone wrong and recommend correction tips for my next interview. Thanks a million. stabbo: Nah man I think its the schools reputation, I'm not too sure and I'm open to advice though I am sorry for your visa denial. I live in the San Francisco bay area and I have been to the Academy Art university campus in Powell street, San Francisco a couple times. I used to live close to the AAU campus in San Francisco. it is one of the largest art school in the States and also one of the best art school in US(you can verify AAU reputation on Google). In-fact, AAU has the largest art museum in California. I have a very good Ghanaian friend in that school and AAU is a pretty damn expensive school. I think you should reapply again. Make sure you are confident and your answers to the VO questions must always be consistent with what is stated in your I-20..Good luck!!!!! |

50calibre: Haha! You must be kidding me. I can't believe you are here advocating illiteracy and manual/unskilled labour yet you claim to have two degrees.
You are giving me examples of entrepreneurs who had great business acumen or ideas, and left school to pursue them, but you fail to look at basic statistics - for every bill gates or Steve jobs, there are a million other people who didnt succeed. You use the likes of bill gates Steve jobs and dell, yet you also fail to realise they all sent their kids to get degrees.
Stop making unnecessary and illiterate comparisons many Nigerians make, comparing the value of dollar to naira, thinking " oh if I convert this $1000 to naira, I have N150,000" it doesn't work that way.
Naira for naira and dollar for dollar, a banker in Nigeria is better off, the question isn't what the dollar can do for you in Nigeria, it is what the dollar can do for you in the US. After tax, utilities and other miscellaneous expenses, Can a cab driver afford a decent mortgage or rent in the US? Can he afford a decent suit and a pair of shoes? A banker in Nigeria can.
I'm not in Nigeria, but my judgement isn't clouded, think straight Perfect!!! The average cab driver in the States earn about $25k per year after taxes. however the poverty level in the States is $18,000 per year.. on the other hand, A banker in Nigeria earns far above the proverty level in Nigeria. Most Nigerians back home dont really know that the cost of living the States is very high. The average rent for 1 bedroom in NY or Cali is about $1100 ( 176000 Naira) per month. On the other hand, the Average rent of 1 bedroom in Lagos or Abuja is about less than $200 (32,000 Naira) per month. An Average banker in Nigeria is better off than an Average taxi driver in the States. |

rcb34: Ma question here is to enlighting all of us here, sometime ago b4 I registered for DV2014,I was havin a background check so that I wunt fall into the hands of fraudsters,I came across a government link, have bin checkin so I could post,@ that time I read this "that a country becomes ineligible if that country has sent more than 50000 immigrants to USA within the 5 previous years", I min 5yrs back, bt I saw and calculate from www.travel.state.gov within 5yrs Nigeria dint send such an amount, please enlightin us, is it th@ the calculation is from 1996 till date or from 5yRs back,I really need mature minded people to answer to dis question, Boss @ Justwise would appreciate if u have sometin to say base on experience and base on ur level of achievment, and pls any comentin should nt insult oda pipus opinion, thank you I guess you only calculated the number of visa lottery winner immigrants from 5 years back. you should know that visa lottery is not the only way to immigrate to US. In-fact the easiest way to immigrate to the US is through marriage to a US citizen ; there are thousands of Nigerians who get married to US citizens. For example, there are thousands of Nigerian-Americans who come back home to get married to Nigerians. Also many Nigerian students and overstay Nigerians in the States end up getting married to Americans and end up getting the green-card.. so if you add the number Spouse visa and Visa lottery green card in the past 5 years I guess it should be more than 50000. The reason why countries like China and Mexico have never be qualify for the visa lottery is because the number of spouse visa green-card every 5 years exceed 50000. So I won't be surprise if Nigeria is not qualify for the next 5 years too. |

mr swagger: Hello everyone, I say a big thank you to u all for contributing actively to the growth of this thread.
I have a little problem. I applied to my school in US for undergraduate studies for Fall session. I mailed my mastercard Card Number when filling the application form to the school in US to pay for my application fee.
The school contacted me yesterday and told me that I should send my mastercard verification code, which I later sent to them. The 3 digit number at the back of my mastercard was what I suggested was the verification code which I sent to them.
I have used that same Mastercard to buy My SAT textbooks online on Amazon. But I was shocked when they contacted me today and said the card did not work.
Please what can I do. Does anyone have any idea or have encountered similar problem like dis before.
Thanks guys. Waiting for your anticipated response. you should contact your bank..I think they will be in a better position to advice you. |

ivory23456: Hey, thanks for the reply. But I mean.... Even with half of my fees already paid? did you go with any prove that you paid the school fees during your visa interview ? Unlike UK student visa, it is highly unusual for schools in US to demand for school fees before you get your visa. Anyway, I still think it's better to use one sponsor with sufficient fund of at least one year school fees in his account when you reapply..I wish you good luck. |

Confirmvisa: I was deny visa in the morning after reading all your posts. The VO's were unfair rejecting everybody. I have read this page for sometimes and people are not solidarified by correcting our interview anymore. imperiouxx, justwise, yvete, mamacitta, anthonymighty you all gurus were once in my shoe and if you want god's blessings be of help to others continuously. Its not by quarelling rubbing shoulders and ignoring our help. Anyway this is my 2nd rejection in the us embassy: I - Good Morning Sir! (smiling) VO- So what program do you wish to pursue? I- Computer Science sir. VO- Ok which university are you planning to attend? I - american intercontinental uni. VO- which of the campus? I- Atlanta campus sir. VO- Atlanta? I- yes sir. VO- Which all universities you applied to? I- Cameron university, aiu, blablabla VO- So why aiu? I- Sir this university is the best match for my profile in terms of course, curriculum and finances. I’ve been in touch with some of the faculty members. VO- Sorry sir… I cant issue you a visa today… I- sir why? you didn't even ask why usa, who is my sponsor blablabla VO- Even today I cannot issue you a visa this paper explains the reason and hands me over the same 214b paper again. I- Would you like to see my documents?VO- No we don’t see any documents. Please leave and thanks for coming. I- Thank you sir. what should I change before I go back? I don't really know why you was denied visa but you should wait for a while before reapplying because this is your 2nd denial this year. it's very difficult( tho it's possible) to get a visa after the 2nd denial, so you should wait for a while before applying again. You should also try other countries like Canada |
