SACRED TITHE TO GOD

Leviticus 27:30.
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord
.

The sacred tithe to God was strictly to be managed by the priests for the sanctueary work and welfare for the levites and priests

Numbers 18:21-25
21 And, behold, I have given the Levites all the tithes in Israel for an inheritance in return for their service which they serve, the [menial] service of the Tent of Meeting.

God told the people to use another 10% for the poor every 3 years and another 10% for a feast .these have nothing to do with the sacred tithe to God .
THE 10% FOR FEAST
Deuteronomy 14:22-23
Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always.

10% FOR THE POOR EVERY 3 YEARS

Deuteronomy 14:28-29
At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

Dear friend, which Tithe is sacred and which is not sacred? Let’s not put a semantical spin on this. Tithe is Tithe, it is a mosaic law as commanded by God to Israelites.

Also, I have a question....have u ever paid Tithe to Levites before? Did you ever eat your Tithe everywhere and share Tithe with the needies and foreigners?

The only time money was referenced with Tithe was if your produce is so big that you can’t carry it to your choice of place to eat it.

There is never a place in the Bible where Christians were told to Tithe their church. 10% is too limiting of a giving principle for Christians. Rather, we were encouraged to generously give. Who cares if I choose to give 100% or 5% towards the work of God or help the needies? God loves a cheerful giver.

Christians are Givers, not Tithers!
Jews are Tithers, not Givers!!

You got it wrong . That’s a different 10%. It’s not the tithe given to God . Read

Leviticus 27:30.
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord.

Indulge me please....

So now there are different kinds of tithes...surely this is not totally accurate

10% as defined in OT is pretty clear to me, we should not try to use semantics to justify our understanding, or lack thereof a subject matter

Deut 14 is pretty clear on how to execute ‘tithing’, pls reread and come back to comment

Did our pastors tell us tithe is supposed to be an annual event? Not monthly? Did they mention how it should be observed the third year vs every other years? Deut 14: v22 vs v28
Religion / Re: TITHING: How Today's Christian Got It Wrong by Allta(m): 8:02pm On Dec 05, 2017
May I humbly add that those that tithe are supposed to eat their tithes, spend their tithe money alongside those who needs help most.

And for you guys who don’t agree with me, I beseech you tonstudy Deut 14 with patience.
Religion / Re: TITHING: How Today's Christian Got It Wrong by Allta(m): 7:59pm On Dec 05, 2017

15. No SINGLE Biblical instruction exists for tithes to be changed from AGRIC produce to money.
...I agree with the the OP for most part, but believe he is wrong with this statement here

Duet 14:24 - 26 is clear on this

“And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee:”

...“Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose:”

“And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household.”

There should be a public apology to whom this speech was addressed.

You can not hide the fact that Muslims kill more Muslims in Middle East than Western soldiers do.

I personally will like western soldiers to leave Middle East and deport all Islamic radical jihadists from western countries....but this is not going to happen.

If a Christian had done this stupid act in Saudi, they will not even take him to hospital......they will behead him right on there

Why are some so offended when they identify Michael with his fatherland? Afterall beheading is a norm in Jos and northern part of Nigeria....where Muslims behead pregnant women and Christians do the same.

Islam Extremists are first muslims before becoming criminals and kill even more of their own all in the name of Allah.

The fact is Muslims kill more Muslims than westerners do! These criminals have obviously been brain washed, the only solution is to enforce British culture and get rid of stupid multicultural integration in a western society, it has never worked and it will never work!!!

To the pro-Tithe folks, pls I'm still waiting on how you should or not should tithe ur proceeds....

Simple question: can I use tenth of my annual income to buy cow and eat it with my family and share it amongst the pastors of the church ... Will this qualify as tithe?

If yes, is it ok to do this on yearly basis as opposed to monthly basis widely preached in Nigerian churches?
Religion / Re: Questions For Frosbel On Tithing by Allta(m): 2:35pm On Apr 01, 2013
Don't believe anyone who say Ur pocket will be destroyed if you don't give money as tithe in the church.

Whether tithe, offerings or fruits.....the key is in freewill giving of any or all of these.

If you must pay tithe then do it the right old testament way...

“You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year. And you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always. (Deuteronomy 14:22, 23 NKJV)

But if the journey is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, or if the place where the Lord your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, when the Lord your God has blessed you, then you shall exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses. (Deuteronomy 14:24, 25 NKJV)

And you shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for whatever your heart desires; you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household. You shall not forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no part nor inheritance with you. (Deuteronomy 14:26, 27 NKJV)
Religion / Re: Taking Alcohol - Is It A Sin? by Allta(m): 2:33pm On Apr 01, 2013
I think the issue is more of the Nigerian Christian definition of Alcohol....

The bible is clear......don't be a drunk; there sev bible references where strong wine were served! If you can't control yourself from becoming drunk, then don't drink!!

Religion / Re: Is It Sinful To Wear Trousers As A Christian Lady? by Allta(m): 2:38pm On Mar 31, 2013
I know of male friends who wear skirts in Scotland as part of their traditional attire ... esp during traditional celebrations

They are Christians, so does this mean they are indulging in sin?

Also, I know ladies wear trouser geans in extremely cold weather to keep their lower parts warm. I've seen many many devout Christians do this, but I know of Catholics and Judaism females who will never wear geans no matter what. So does this mean those that do are indulging in sin?

Has Naija become better or worse within last 20years?
Can Govt guarantee my security when working in Northern part of the country as a western educated southerner against Boko Haram?
Can Govt guarantee the security of my foreign wife in Naija delta from being kidnapped?
Can Govt guarantee life changing operational procedures without the use of lantern and candles during surgical life critical operations?
Can Govt guarantee my survival within the system without partaking in wide spread corruption?
Last but not the list, can Govt guarantee 24hrs 5days Electricity supply to a business I'd like to startup?

Until all answer to most of this is yes, can't see reason why one should abandon a developed system for an underdeveloped and corrupt one like Nigeria's.

mrjingles:

Your theory is not unusual, rules like 25% in 2/3 of states are made to prevent one man winning by virtue of votes from one region. Buhari MAY win the popular votes but will lose due to lack of spread. That has been his problem all the while. Al Gore had the same problem. He won the popular vote but didnt win enough states. I dont expect Buhari to complain if he loses on that basis, the rules are clear.
That makes sense , IMHO, PDP is the only platform which has been able to capture wider spread in Naija. They might have performed less than expected last week, but I'm sure now that the presidential front is a different ball game entirely, my prayer is, whoever wins; should have enough support to move the country forward.
