occam:I am neither suggesting that nor do I support those who commit horrible crimes like this. I am only citing instances that may trigger such behavior which you may find helpful in protecting yourself. There is so much wickedness in the land and we may reduce the impact of frustration on people by simple acts of kindness. That car washer probably earn N15k/month and forcing him to repair your car may cost him 6 months of his salary which he may not have. He may have sold the only piece of land he inherited from his grandfather to settle an issue that will cost the woman only her lunch money. Such issues bring grievances and multiple frustration and may trigger a psychopath to do the unthinkable. There are people who can murder you over $5 and here in the states, small business owners tip the homeless who hang around their businesses because they always give them information pertaining crimes in the area and when the next one may hit. Now, a business proprietor may decide to shun them and evn call the cops on them but be rest assured that they may be laughing their azz off when an unknown robber put a slug in your head over $10. My point is, there are things we as humans should overlook because we have compassion. Compassion is an invaluable asset that we should not let go in our lives. In Nigeria, people eat people and nobody is ready to show any form of kindness even in the church or mosque. What kind of life is that?. All we care about is making money and oppressing those who are poor. That's why our leaders don;t care because we like glory and if majority of the citizens are well enough financially, nobody may have time to praise them. If you are observant, you will notice that such trait is seen among black people worldwide. We love to show off and match on the helpless instead of lending them a helping hand and that's why black communities are the most wretched in every part of the world. How many rich Nigerians apart from Bank Anthony, Udoji and Abiola[to an extent] have you heard that they voted all their wealth to charity upon their demise?. We will rather keep the whole wealth for our junkie children who will lavish it all on drugs instead of setting up a foundation that will make sure our orphanages are well catered for or our public schools are well equipped. Yet we clap for Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and co when they vote billions of their fortune towards a cause in Africa but we Africans cannot do it for our own brethren. I am sorry for the death of this woman and may her family accept my condolences but that will not make me relent from saying that we are scarcely compassionate for others and until we learn to do so, we will continue to have very bitter individuals who are ready to do anything among us. If you have employees, treat them right, pay them fairly, lend an ear to their private troubles and if you can, stretch yourself a little bit and offer a helping hand. Reach out and help someone for the govt will not do everything for us. |
Gboliwe:Of course he will have a story ready for you. The genuineness of that story may or may not be proven. |

He did not disclose his reasons for locking the gates to the church but a police officer who did not want his name in print attributed it to security precautions in the light of the Boko Haram threat all over the country. But worshippers disagree, saying that DCP Audu, a Muslim, might be uncomfortable with the Christians worshipping in the church. P.M.NEWS gathered that many police officers serving in the state command worship in the church on Sundays. Contacted on phone, pastor of the church, Senior Pastor Ezekiel Ekpinkhio confirmed that the gates leading to the church had been shut, adding that he had written to the state Commissioner of Police over the incident. “We wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Compol Yakubu Alkali over the matter a month ago, but there has been no response,” he stated. When P.M.NEWS visited DCP Audu in his office to get his reaction on the matter, he sent his aide to tell our reporter that he was too busy to comment on the issue. — Ayodeji Dedeigbo Enugu State http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2011/11/18/police-chief-shuts-redeemed-church-inside-police-college/ |
Lagos Water Corporation To Introduce Meters Mr. Shayo Holloway, Group Managing Director (GMD), Lagos Water Corporation (LSWC) said on Friday that the corporation had concluded plans to introduce meters to control water consumption in the state. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Holloway said that metering would help the corporation to conserve water in a meaningful way. He said that the gesture, which would help the corporation to regulate the volume of water consumption, would commence in the first quarter of 2012. The GMD said that the development would also enable the corporation to monitor the people who were not paying for their water bills. “The corporation has decided to introduce meter to various houses because it will enable it to know the level of water they consume so that they can account for it. “This development comes as a result of people doing illegal connection with the corporation’s pipelines and claiming that they are not using our water because they don’t want to pay. “I believe that with the introduction of meters, people will be conscious of water wastage as they will be reliable for their water consumption, ” he said. Holloway noted that with the aid of metering, it would make it possible for water to circulate the entire public, and check wastages drastically. The LSWC boss said that metering houses would help the corporation to address the challenge of illegal connection carried out by the public and the unnecessary linkages done on the pipeline. http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2011/11/18/lagos-water-corporation-to-introduce-meters/ |

How can a house girl steal up to N8M without her knowing it unless she carried the money at once. If so, how rich is this minister to the point of keeping N8m at home?. |
GAR3TH:You mean the governor cannot marginalize local governments especially if he is a tribalist? |
That pastor sef/ ![]() |
Araboy:My stance is very clear: practice your Islam as you wish but confine it to your homes and mosques. Unless there are public schools built by muslims, then they can promote Islam there. Araboy:Of course we accepted the religious diversity but imposing your diversity on others is unacceptable or do you see Christians imposing theirs on muslims?. What part of keep your religion to yourself is difficult for muslims to understand?. Islam is not part and parcel of Yoruba culture; it is Arabic culture and should be treated as such. The only good Islam has brought to Yorubaland is the proliferation of alayes and almajiris. 98.5% of all the alayes in Yorubaland are muslims and the new generation of almajiris rising in Yorubalanmd today adopted the Islamic culture. So tell me what social virtue and advantages the Yorubaland has gained from Islam. At least I can tell you that Christianity brought schools and hospitals to our shores. Araboy:Osun state is neither Oyo nor Lagos states. The population of muslims in Osun is about 2.78% and calling them a minority is an overstatement. The muslims populations of Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states are very negligible. So imposing your Islamic culture on us is pure religious imperialism. Araboy:Why do muslims get angry unnecessarily over issues concerning their religion?. That is why the ignorants among you tend to kill as the slightest provocation. Araboy:Back to sender. Oto oro o ko ro![forgive my poor Igbo]. |
Jenifa_:The typical mindset of a tribalist who is suffering from inferiority complex. You are making this a war when all I did was appeal and ethnicity has entered into it. Assuming I am Igbo, I am no more allowed to discuss the travails of my people in the soutwest?. Assuming I am Igbo, are there no Igbo children in Osun who could not attend school because someone wants to wear hijab to school?. Assuming I am Igbo, are there no Igbo children who will learn from muslims that you can waylay your teacher with thugs and beat her up like the article said. After all, this is not the first time muslims are murdering/mugging teachers in Nigeria. Remember Olufunke who got murdered in Gombe state by muslims simply because she allegedly desecrated the quran. You have a very dirty mind and I find people like you who introduce ethnicity in everything very despicable because you don't know anything about God. I want you to trust me that if you try that ethnic nonsense on me, you will completely fail. May the gods of Orolu land fire you with brimstone. ![]() |
Sweetnecta:Which war are you talking about?. The one Othman Dan Fodio invaded the South with sword?. I am confused because muslims today are still trying to forcefully convert Christians. It is the Christians who give muslims leeway to do whatever they want in their midst which includes attending their schools and hospitals. |
Jenifa_:Didn't I ask you a question about Christians being allowed to wear white veil to school?. So public schools should be riddled with religious bigots who intends to showcase the better part of their religion?. My stance is banning all religious attire whether it Cherubium and Seraphim or muslim or Guru Maharaji uniform. If students show up in school wearing hijabs, Guru maharaji gowns, olumba olumba vests, etc, how will the school look?. Instead of you to condemn the noble teacher who got mugged by Islamists whose relative she prevented from wearing hijab, you are here promoting religious hatred. Very soon, Boko Haram faithfuls will wear their uniform to school too and ban all muslims and Christians from the class. I wonder what you will say then. |
Dangote will frustrate that effort I tell you. |
Church Wedding: Anatomy of nonsense Written by Abiodun Awolaja Wednesday, 16 November 2011 As a writer, I do not look at faces. Church wedding is absolute nonsense without scriptural foundation. The idea of pastors joining anyone together can be supported by books written by the so-called men of God, but you will find no single Bible verse to support it. Real wedding is what we call engagement in Nigeria. “You may now kiss your bride,” they say, but nine times out of 10, the lady is already pregnant. It is a shame, but my niece once chatted her mother up on a show-of-shame wedding on Gbasemo Street, Ikorodu, where a naked bride and her equally naked friends were dancing in the church. They were US-based, and had reportedly offered the ministers a large sum. The ministers, loyal servants of their bellies, said nothing about their dressing. Before long, thugs and a few locals had stormed the frontage of the church, shouting obscenities at the ladies. “Ori awon eleyi daru ni?” (Are these ones mad?), etc. Now, what my niece said (and I do not feel comfortable saying it) : “My mummy, that sister is wearing blue panties.” It makes absolutely no economic sense to buy a foolish gown which you will never put on again. I have heard the claim that the gown will be put on the woman when she dies, but how do you know that you will die where your clothes are, or that that gown would still be your size? This is pure foolishness. Again, I’m still at a loss as to why Nigerians cannot just put on native attire at their reception. Certainly, my own God is not English; He is the Lord of Glory, a most gracious God who has not instructed me to copy any culture without applying a bit of commonsense. If you cannot see revelation here, it is a sign that you are not meant to see. A teacher who earns N20,000 a month will nevertheless want to kill a cow, rent a hall which costs N200,000, and make a cake which will be the talk of the town. Actually, we do not need a cake on a wedding day; what we need is sufficient amala and pounded yam for our people, with a lot of egusi. I was bored stiff once in Ondo when, acting the best man for the first (and now I know, the last) time, the best lady started pouring some creamy / foamy nonsense on me. Notice that I am not condemning the beautiful idea of a best man, but I had previously disagreed with the best lady who wanted me to wear hand gloves, when I was not a foolish corpse, or a parade commander. Yes, of course I wore a suit, but I put it off during the reception because the place was quite hot. And I asked for my food while some people were busy giving senseless admonitions which I knew they themselves did not observe in their homes. Let me tell you about Pastor Ganiyu, a relation of mine. Well, this man insisted on one Brother Gbenga’s wedding day that the offering, which the church normally collected before joining any couple together, must be N30,000, or no wedding. People made donations and N28,000 was realised, but Pastor Caniyu said no way. Eventually, Pastor Ganiyu joined the couple at a few minutes past 4p.m, but Gbenga was fuming. “Upon all my work in this church as an interpreter, Pastor Caniyu, my own very brother, has refused to join me and my wife. All my ogas who I wanted to give cake to have gone! This is wicked. This is my last day in this church!” And it was. Both are extended relations of mine, and do not make the mistake of thinking that I have invented a fable. The bride was very hungry, but said she did not want to eat while wearing the gown, but Pastor Ganiyu would not budge. The Muslims who came to the wedding were saying: “Is this how Christianity is? Well, we do not do our own things like that!” What a shame! http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/opinion/31253-wedding-anatomy-of-nonsense- |

Ondo to establish sugarcane plantations Written by Yinka Oladoyinbo, Akure Thursday, November 17, 2011 The Ondo State government has said it will establish sugarcane plantations in each of the three senatorial districts of the state in its bid to ensure maximum utilisation of the agricultural resources for economic development. The move, aimed at creating employment for the people of the state, is also for the industrial development of the state. The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Ademola Olorunfemi, told newsmen in Akure, on Wednesday, that the government had concluded plans to acquire large expanse of land in the three senatorial districts for the purpose of the plantations. According to him, such lands would be allocated to farmers who would be clustered, for maximum derivation of input assistance from the state. He said the project, which would be a pilot one for the development of sugarcane farms, would be implemented with the involvement of local farmers with the aim of creating employment. http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/31401-ondo-to-establish-sugarcane-plantations |
Jenifa_:The Methodists built the school for Nigerian children irrespective of their religious background. The Catholic missionaries built more schools in Nigeria followed by the Anglicans, presbyterians, methodists, etc. All were built for a good cause and not for educating only Methodists. In the same vein, they built hospitals and many of them are still in existence today. Should those hospitals be treating only Christian methodists?. What is the source of your frustration here because I can't see it for real?. Only you grew up in Chad, you should've been aware that there are many missionary establishments in Nigeria that are serving the public. Are you suggesting we rename the Methodist school so that Iwo muslims will feel better?. Why are they even making noise over something they didn't contribute a penny towards its actualization?. |
Jenifa_:Yes it is called Methodist grammar school because it was built by METHODIST MISSIONARIES. So Christian nepotism is to be blamed for the backwardness of Yoruba muslims against Yoruba Christians ?. |
LadyT:Don't mind her. |
Jenifa_:Public schools have a code of conduct in southWestern Nigeria and religion is not part of it. What will then happen to the school uniform is mujslims are allowed to wear hijab, Christians are allowed to wear veil, pagans are allowed to wear draws, etc?. There are private and religious schools in Nigeria if muslims insists that their daughters must wear hijab, they can send them to muslim schools and if any Christian girl is enrolled in that school, she must abide their rules or look for another school. What will they demand for next if they are allowed to wear hijab?. |
Jenifa_:Who denied muslims formal education?. Western education came into Nigeria through Christians and they didn't discriminate against anybody besides, the govt took over most of the mission schools, built newer ones and made them public. If muslims decides not to attend school on their own accord, how is that denial? |
I want to use this medium to appeal to good spirited muslims from the SouthWest to please ask your muslim brethren in Osun to desist from introducing religion to our public schools. Osun state is unarguably a Christian state and is only 2nd to Ondo in SW states with the highest concentration of Christians. Introducing Islamic hijab to our schools will surely introduce dichotomy and that is not what we need now to build our nation because we want our children and younger ones to focus on their education. Please do reach out to the Osun muslim community and beg them not to scuttle our academic program with frivolities. Insha Allah https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-806040.0.html |

ARTICLE OF FAITH: There is no salvation by faith without works By Femi Aribisala November 14, 2011 05:10PMT Andrew Badejo went to church one Sunday morning. The pastor preached a fiery message about going to university which made a deep impression on him. He had always dreamed about going to university to get a degree in engineering but, alas, he had no interest whatsoever in studying. The pastor itemised different opportunities available to university graduates and, at the end of the sermon, he made an altar call. "All those who would like to go to the University of Lagos should come out." Andrew made a beeline for the altar with others. The pastor asked them to make a confession; then he declared: "You are hereby admitted as students of the University of Lagos." A deceptive grace From that day, there was a new spring in Andrew's steps. He was overjoyed at the prospects of being a university under-graduate. Nobody in his family or village had ever had that distinction. He day-dreamed about the different things he would do for his community when he graduates. He would send some people to school. He would sink a borehole in his father's compound. He would make the world a better place. Every time someone asked him about his future plans, he told them he would be studying Engineering at the University of Lagos in the coming academic session. Many were impressed with him. They never thought he had it in him. So Andrew would be going to the university. How wonderful! Faith without works This continued until one day, a gentleman pressed him further about his impending studies at the university. He wanted to know which courses were his favourites in school. But Andrew could not answer. Then the man asked Andrew which courses he took in his JAMB exams. But Andrew did not know what he was talking about. He had not taken any JAMB and did not even know what JAMB meant. "So how did you secure a place in the university?" the man asked in astonishment. "I did not take any exam," said Andrew, becoming a little confused and also getting irritated. "I answered an altar call." "What altar-call?" his nemesis wanted to know. "Three months ago, my pastor preached a message about going to the university. Then he made an altar-call and asked all those who wanted to go to the University of Lagos to come forward. I went forward with others and he prayed for us. He told us that from that day, we are all now students of the University of Lagos. So I plan to join the university at the beginning of the next academic session." "Tell me one thing," the man probed Andrew further. "Is your pastor a lecturer at the University of Lagos?" "No he is not," Andrew replied. "Is he the Vice-Chancellor of the university by any chance?" "No he is not," Andrew replied again. "Is he a graduate of the university?" "No, he is not." "So why do you believe him?" the man asked with incredulity. "But I am not the only one," Andrew responded defensively. Everybody in our church is going to the University of Lagos in October." "And are you all going to be studying Engineering?" "I don't know. But I know we are all going." "But Andrew, you have not even taken the entrance exam. How do you expect to be admitted?" he asked. "Our pastor says people are admitted into the University by faith. He says Jesus has taken the exam for all of us. All we have to do in October is show up and we will be admitted." Blind leading the blind At the beginning of the next academic session, Andrew showed up at the University. He was pleased to find members of his church there. But they could not find their names in the register. After a lot of arguing, they discovered they were not admitted into the University of Lagos. There was much weeping and gnashing of teeth (Mt 8:12). They all descended on the pastor's house, undecided as to whether they should beat him up or even kill him. They discovered on getting there that he had been ejected from his house. All his belongings were lying on the sidewalk. The pastor looked at them despondently and shook his head. "I have been the victim of a cruel hoax," he cried. Paul says: "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Rm 10:9). But Jesus warns: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven" (Mt 7:21). Lawmaker accuses Oshiomhole of marginalising Esan on NOVEMBER 18, 2011 · in NEWS By Simon Ebegbulem BENIN — Member representing Esan North-East and Esan South-East Federal Constituency of Edo State, Mr. Friday Itulah, yesterday, lamented that the people of Edo Central Senatorial District of the state were the most marginalised in terms of projects and appointments in the current Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN-led government in the state. Contrary to expectations from efforts by Governor Adams Oshiomhole to purchase water-drilling machines to solve the water problem in Esanland, the lawmaker said there was no water project in the area. He added that the only water project in Esanland was the one initiated by the former chairman of Board of Trustee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, which he said will be commissioned on November 28 by Vice President Namadi Sambo. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/11/lawmaker-accuses-oshiomhole-of-marginalising-esan/ |
