How will you feel if your partner/spouse is disturbing you to befriend his/her EX?. Will you see it as a harmless thing and indulge in it or will you suspect that it could be a ploy to bring him/her around so that Okafor's law may be fulfilled?. What if it is an innocent request? |

FOR CHRISTIANS: Would you rather marry a Muslim than a non-serious Christian (like those that just answer Christian, go to church only on Christmas and Easter day, and have no life style resembling that of a Christian?) FOR MUSLIMS: Would you rather marry a Christian instead of a non-serious Muslim (those that barely say their daily prayers, hardly fast, barely give alms and dont even read their Qur'an or know not much about the Prophet and his teachings) How has inter-religious marriages worked among the people you know?. Do you think it's something you may try someday?. |

If a man wants you, If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache. Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's not meant to be. Slower is better. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend. Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is. Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better. The only person you can control in a relationship is you. Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently? Always have your own set of friends separate from his. Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up. Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later. You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within. Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are, even if he has more education or in a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less. Never let a man define who you are. Never borrow someone else's man. If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you. A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you. All men are NOT dogs. You should not be the one doing all the bending, compromise is a two-way street. You need time to heal between relationships, there is nothing cute about baggage, deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship. You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you, a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals, look for someone complimentary, not supplementary. Dating is fun, even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr. Right. Make him miss you sometimes, when a man always know where you are, and you're always readily available to him- he takes it for granted. Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others. copied from my inbox. |
I read the thread through and through but still cannot draw a clear line between both denominations. Shia muslims do feel they are more holy and align themselves to unalloyed teachings of Allah. Since you barred me from using the word "liberal" and co, how do you expect me to differentiate a shia muslim from a sunni?. I ask again, do they have behavioral differences, do their regards for women differ?, who is less worldly because I suspect that Islamic giants like Sani abacha, Tafa Balogun, IBB, Bola Tinubu and co must belong to the sunni sect. |

Evil Brain:The only Nigerian who has shown kindness to women is now being questioned on his intentions. He doesn't have to throw money at women if he intends to run for presidency. It is actually advisable for him to keep the money so he can buy bags of rice for running his campaign. Nigerian men are largely chauvinists for real. |
igbo2011:Haters call him a thief. |
igbo2011:Do you have proof that he stole your money?. I am saying this because in Yoruba culture, the asiwaju title cannot be given to a thief. So people actually did background check before honoring him with that title. |
Dangote empowers women with N600m By Our Reporter 22 hours 45 minutes ago The Women Empowerment and Free School Feeding Schemes of the Kano State Government have been flagged off in Kano State with the Chairman of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote donating N600million towards the programme. Also, the business mogul promised to build a 500-student capacity for the Kano State University. The programmes are key components of the Poverty Eradication Agenda of the state government. Speaking at the ceremony held at the Sani Abacha Stadium Indoor Sports Hall, Dangote said the donation under the auspices of the Dangote Foundation was to complement the state government’s efforts at reducing poverty to the barest minimum, especially among women. He said:”The Dangote Foundation would like to send our best wishes to the women, who will benefit from our grant and, indeed, from other government initiatives. It is their efforts and business success that will strengthen family and community bonds that are needed to transform this great state and this great country.” The women, who will be reached through the Community Re-orientation Committee in each of the local government, have already been selected through a process of assessment by a joint Kano State Government and Dangote Foundation. The state governor, Engr Rabiu Kwankwaso thanked Alhaji Dangote for the good gesture and expressed the state government’s appreciation for the fund. He explained that an arrangement has been made to ensure that not only the right women from the grassroots benefit from the scheme, but that the fund is judiciously utilised when requited and necessary. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/business/26207-dangote-empowers-women-with-n600m.html |
Banking reforms: Lessons from Canadian regulatory system WEDNESDAY, 09 NOVEMBER 2011 00:00 BUKKY OLAJIDE BUSINESS SERVICES - MONEY WATCH Do you know that the global recession that hit the world’s financial sector, which started from the United States of America did not affect Canadian financial sector? In 2011, the World Economic Forum named Canada’s banking system, the world’s soundest, which makes it the fourth year in a row that the Canadian banking system ranked number one in the world. BUKKY OLAJIDE identified robust risk management as one of the major factors that characterize Canadian banks. IT is a known fact that Canada’s banking system is the World’s soundest. So many reasons could be responsible for this. First, Canadian banks are well managed which makes them less prone to risk-taking than their counterparts in the United States and Europe. They are well regulated, forced to adhere to stricter rules than those that govern most other banking systems including those in the United States. Canada’s banks are also well-diversified organisations whose investment banks are anchored by solid deposit taking institutions. Consequently, the banks are well capitalised, having more cash-on-hand than most similar institutions in the developed world, taking a very conservative approach with their investors’ funds. The country’s system of national institutions diversifies regional risk, so a downturn in an individual economic sector is balanced while national system contributes to economic growth by moving funds from areas of excess deposits, to regions where growth is creating demand for new credit. At the yearly lecture of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria ((CIBN) which took place recently, the choice of Canada and specifically the Royal Bank of Canada as the reference bank is informed by the facts that Canada remains the only big economy in the world not affected by the global economic meltdown. The Royal Bank of Canada, apart from being the largest bank in Canada, as observed by the President of CIBN, Mr. Laoye Jaiyeola, has very robust risk management and governance framework that ensured its withering through the global economic crisis unscathed. “The banking system of Canada is strong and resilient and we need to hear how they make it,” said Jaiyeola. The yearly lecture of the CIBN is a traditional public policy lecture instituted to acquaint the Nigerian public with developments in both the local and global economies. With this year’s theme: “Building a Resilient Financial System to withstand External Shocks: Lessons from selected economies, the lecturers over the years have been delivered by renowned experts in chosen contemporary areas of the economy. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=66935:-banking-reforms-lessons-from-canadian-regulatory-system-&catid=30:money-watch&Itemid=593 |

Islamic scholar jailed four years for attempting to sell boy November 14, 2011 05:01PM A self acclaimed Islamic scholar, Adamu Alkali of Paiko in Pakoro local government area of Niger State, has been arraigned before a Minna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly attempting to sell an 11-year-old boy, Usman Abubakar to some unknown buyers. The prosecuting counsel, Mohammed Mustapha, told the court that Alkali connived with two commercial motorcyclists (okada riders) Haruna Idris and Baba Sha’aba, all of Lapai local government area of the state to abduct Usman, who they took to a hotel in Chanchanga, a suburb of Minna the state capital. The prosecutor said they offered the boy for various amounts before they settled for ₦26 million, following which they brought the boy to the hotel to seal the deal but unknown to them, the prospective buyers were operatives of the State Security Service, who had trailed them to the hotel on a tip-off. He said they agreed to collect the agreed amount in cash from the buyers and were arrested in the process. Mr Mustapha said the alleged offence was contrary to section 79 and 273 of the Penal Code. The chief magistrate, who tried him summarily, described Alkali as “fake and foolish,” insisting that he was one of those that assemble children under the disguise of teaching them Quran, while actually selling them for rituals. Policemen, Alhaji in police net for illegal arrest, extortion I was just an informant - Alhaji Written by Oluwatoyin Malik Sunday, 13 November 2011 https://www.tribune.com.ng/sun/images/stories/jan2010/ast%20features%204.jpg Alhaji Razak Olatunji with the phones and laptops allegedly recovered from his group by the police. Photos: Oluwatoyin Malik The Oyo State Police Command recently arrested four serving policemen working with Force CID, Alagbon who had been coming to the state, on the pretext that they were working on petitions, to carry out indiscriminate arrest and extortion of people they tagged Yahoo boys. Oluwatoyin Malik reports. MENTION the name, Alhaji Razak Olatunji, and many may not be conscious of the name but once there is a mention of Alhaji Gay, what would follow it would be torrents of comments, mostly negative. This is because of the image the owner of the name had cut for himself. Alhaji Razak had been allegedly notorious for going after people he tagged yahoo boys to extort them. However, he was able to succeed in his illegalities with the assistance of some serving police officers with whom he usually went after his targets. Alhaji Razak’s modus operandi with the policemen was said to be such that made people to wonder whether they were armed robbers hiding under police uniform and using police weapons to dispossess members of the public of their belongings while pretending to arrest them for fraudulent activities. It was further gathered that many people had fallen victims of Alhaji Razak’s gang, with their mobile phones, laptops, cash and even car impounded. One of the victims who spoke with Sunday Tribune under the condition of anonymity said his car is still with Alhaji’s group which they told him they had handed over to the EFCC in Lagos. Alhaji Razak had allegedly perpetrated his criminal acts in different parts of the South Western geopolitical zone, posing as informant for the police and EFCC, and joining the policemen in arresting ‘suspects’. He was said to have been to Ogbomoso, Malaysia, South Africa, Dubai, Ife, Ibadan and other places and had been making a lot of money from this. They were said to usually present a fake petition and warrant of arrest. However, his cup became full on Saturday October 29, 2011 when he was arrested with the policemen working with him by policemen from Monitoring Unit of the Oyo State Police Command. According to information gathered, on that day, Alhaji Razak had arrived Ibadan on Friday, October 28 with four policemen who left their duty posts at Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Lagos and three other civilians. Armed with guns, they had allegedly stormed one Segola Guest House at Apata area and broke into one of the rooms where a guest lodged. After ransacking the room, they were said have robbed one Richard Adebayo, alleged of being a fraudster popularly referred to as Yahoo boy, of his United States passport, a Gucci wallet, handsets, laptop, N35,000 and $1,650. http://www.tribune.com.ng/sun/features/5562-policemen-alhaji-in-police-net-for-illegal-arrest-extortion-i-was-just-an-informant-alhaji |
