@Zikkyy, I am not trying to explain it to you. It is possible to offer ones body to be burned or give all one owns without love of God. Jesus always explained and gave spirit led ways to do things.
You see, since Jesus, the Word Of God that came in flesh full of Grace and Truth, came to explain how we should tithe and you still don't get it, neither Paul's explanation by the Spirit, my words will not help either. So cheer up with your decision.

Luke 1:57-58
57 Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

@Udomama, the above scripture is for you. When your FULL TIME came that you should be delivered; despite all the quit notice wey you give baby before now, the boy just dey laugh you for belle; you brought forth a son, a child that came in to cool the heart of our sisters, a child that came when the thread was just picking up after a period of dryness, a child that came when we realised how important it is for us to lift each other up, a child that came to bring back our MIA mamas especially @safe (she brought her funnies to make us laugh more...Nehi?), a child that came to make us all rejoice with you when we see how God has mercy on us all.
Because of the joy in this thread which has strengthened us all the more, may this year 2013 also be crowned with the joy of conceptions for us all who wait on the Lord for God-glorifying testimonies. Amen.

@Joagbaje,
It is a thing of the heart. That is why they fight tooth and nail at tithes forgetting the scripture talks about both tithes and offerings. They are only trying to find excuses not to give tithes but God has said it: Tithes AND Offerings. It is hypocrisy that makes them chose one over the other.

What did Jesus say about giving tithe, He said there are weighthier matters of the law which are love of God, justice, faithfulness, mercy (per different translation) which if you look at well are more of the Spirit of the Law but still not to neglect tithing.
The whole law is hinged on and fulfilled in love, anyone who does not have love will not even understand the law. All they see is letters which killeth but the Spirit gives life.
Jesus knew that to give tithe right is to have the right heart and Spirit of giving. Paul confirmed it as well by trying to explain why they that sow spiritual seeds should reap material harvest referencing OT in I Cor 9:13-14.

So it is not strange that many stopped tithing as soon as they could for they never really had the right heart in the first place. They felt forced, coerced, angry, bitter and envious...that is well displayed here. They never believed they were giving to God so you wonder how they are able to even give offering since its still church that accepts it. I think one even admitted once that he doesn't give as much. Lol. It is a thing of the heart.
How many of this poor have they really helped ever since? God is not mocked!

All giving alms, tithe, offering, donations are to be given with the right heart and Spirit else it profits nothing as I Cor. 13 says. Giving from the heart of love is key. Let's remain cheerful givers, tithing never stopped me from alms giving, helping needy, and so many other givings, on the contrary it is increasing. Thank you Lord for supply.

Reach Outside Your Comfort Zone (1)

Thursday, 05 December 2013

'...How can they hear, unless someone tells them?' Romans 10:14

One author writes: 'While visiting my parents I needed a haircut, so I went to where my mum goes. As the owner Jim trimmed my hair, we started talking about spiritual things. The more we talked...the more he cut. I ended up with very short hair, but our conversation about Jesus was worth it. Later, when I suggested to my mum that she invite Jim and his wife to church, she said, No way they'd be interested...they lead a pretty wild life. I don't know two people further from God. Nevertheless...the next time she went to the salon, she shot up a silent prayer: God, I don't think these people are interested in You. So if You want me to say anything...make something happen. Just then Jim's wife said, I understand you're in a group that discusses spiritual things. We'd like to come. Pam and Jim...eventually prayed with my folks and gave their lives to Christ - all because of a conversation that developed over a series of haircuts. This kind of reaction rarely happens. Most Christians spend virtually all their time with other Christians...But when it comes to important matters...people listen to people they trust...especially about spiritual matters. Paul says, How can people have faith in the Lord...if they have never heard about Him? And...unless someone tells them? If people are going be reached for Christ, for the most part, it'll happen through friends, not . So, cultivate a relationship with somebody who works at a restaurant you frequent, or the people at your gym. Invite the neighbours over for dinner...follow Christ's example and befriend people who don't know God.'

Candour:

Who do you think divided Malachi into Chapters and verses? The prophet Malachi himself? Do you know the bible wasnt divided into Chapters and verses until 1227AD?

Please, you can choose to believe Malachi 3:7 stands alone, My own study tells me otherwise.

If Stephen Langton of Canterbury didn't try to help us arrange the bible better, we sure won't be arguing about this now.

The prophet Malachi penned a continuous discussion. If you wish to understand better, start from verse 1 of chapter 1. Malachi didn't have chapter and verse division in mind when he wrote that book. It will be helpful if you realize this truth.
Neither was the whole book of Malachi talking about Tithes and Offerings, it also spoke of those who oppress the widows, employees, strangers, orphans, divorce and so many other sins. God said He does not change, it is more like a Revelation of what God hated that the people had been doing. T

So whatever I chose to believe and what you chose to believe should not be termed a lie. Hold your belief and stand by it and it is clear that tithes and offerings was the key focus of Mal.3:8.
Thanks.

It's so clear i wonder how you insist on missing it
How I know its unclear to so many of you is because you fail to see where Mal.3:7 starts and ended, why Mal.3:8 starts with a fresh question and how it talks about TITHES and OFFERINGS.
Suit yourself but I know you guys are still unsure, reason for the numerous threads even with the clarity given by Jesus and Paul. wink.

2 King 3:15-18
15 Now bring me someone who can play the harp.”
While the harp was being played, the power of the LORD came upon Elisha
16 and he said, “This is what the LORD says: This dry valley will be filled with pools of water!
17 You will see neither wind nor rain, says the LORD, but this valley will be filled with water. You will have plenty for yourselves and your cattle and other animals.
18 But this is only a simple thing for the LORD, for he will make you victorious over the army of Moab!

Oh how soothing it is when God speaks to us. The armies of the King of Israel, Edom and Judah were to war against Moab and these armies got to a dry patch where there was no water after marching for about 7 days and they were afraid they would be weakened by thirst and get defeated but God spoke through Elisha that in that very wilderness without rain or wind, water will flow for them and their animals to drink. KJV says Elisha told them to dig trenches or gutters that the water will pass through. That is faith!
And water flowed. Lord, fill my trenches, dug in faith, with the rivers of your divine fruitfulness. Amen. Pray as led.

Have you dug your trenches/gutters/drainage today in faith of the outpouring of God's miracle of abundance, fruitfulness and breakthrough? Is your heart prepared with faith to receive the manifestation of the word of God?
Infact if you read on from verse 18, you will see that it was that same water that was used to defeat the enemy for the sun shone on the water after it gushed out and the moabite army 'saw blood' and thought the 3 kings had fought and killed themselves.
Hmmmn, May all who wish me harm, be confused at my testimony to their own shame. You can pray that prayer for yourself.

Good morning all.

Be Clear and Orderly

Wednesday, 04 December 2013

'Ezra...brought the Law before...all who could hear with understanding...' Nehemiah 8:2

You will accomplish more through others than you will ever accomplish alone. But you'll only do it if you're able to give clear direction. The story's told of a coach who always communicated his goal to his runners before the race. Just before the starter's gun sounded he would say, 'Stay to your left, and get back here as soon as you can.' It doesn't get any clearer than that! Ed Rowell says, 'A dream is a better future in need of an architect who will show others how to make it a reality.' So you must be an architect. You must identify the dream and be able to draw it, not only for your benefit but also for the benefit of others. If you create a fuzzy picture, people will follow you in a fuzzy way. Lack of clarity hinders initiative, inhibits persistence, and undermines follow-through. People don't give their best to something they don't understand. They don't stay on course for something they cannot see. Nobody becomes motivated by something they kinda, sorta, believe in. The Bible says, 'Let all things be done decently and in order.' (1 Corinthians 14:40) God is a God of order, and He honours our efforts when they are carried out in a clear and orderly way. God instructed the prophet Habakkuk, 'Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.' (Habakkuk 2:2) If you are not clear as to your vision, seek God's guidance, write down what He tells you, and communicate it to those you need to tell in a clear, step-by-step, orderly way.

It's you that needs to cool down and digest that verse. Mal 3:7 ended with a question mark, so where was the answer you claimed was embedded in that same verse 7?

I too am not surprised at your impatience in addressing the issue.

Thanks a lot for the birthday wishes. God bless you plenty grin
Amen. Thanks lol.

God was simply saying they departed from His ordinances given long ago and have refused to keep them so they should return back to Him BUT they are still asking him how?
The answer was before the question.

It was more a question of 'and you are still asking me, even after I told you you have departed from my ordinances?'.

Mal. 3:8 was another statement.
But since you feel its a lie. It is OK. It does not change anything anyway. You will not accept even the ones written bodly for you to see. So no biggie.

Careful not to get drawn into what has been discussed on prior threads. The ordinance in Mal. 3:7 was NOT what was describing Mal. 3:8.
Malachi 3:7 question was asked and answered in Mal. 3:7; Mal 3:8 was a seperate statement.
The arguements are just being recycled as always.

I Am Not Ashamed' (3)

Tuesday, 03 December 2013

'...Let me not be ashamed of my hope.' Psalm 119:116

The Psalmist wrote, 'Uphold me according to Your Word, that I may live; and do not let me be ashamed of my hope.' What is our hope? It's found in the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Paul spells it out: 'We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him...For the Lord Himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air...' (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17) Jesus said, '...For a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out - those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.' (John 5:28-29) In that day the Lord's Prayer will finally be answered: 'Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven.' (Matthew 6:10) The hymnist Horatio Spafford wrote, 'O Lord, 'tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait. The sky, not the grave, is our goal. O trump of the angel! O voice of the Lord! Blessed rest, blessed hope of my soul.' Jesus has not changed His mind; He's coming again. Coming for whom? For a prepared people, to take them to a prepared place, where they will dwell with Him forever. Are you planning to be there?

@all, life is full of phases. Our growth and development as Christians involve a lot of trails and temptations but it is how we react or respond to it that will determine our progress. See a challenge as an opportunity to learn, to improve on something, to cause a change, to draw closer to God. To really appreciate our husbands or wives, children or family members. Their is a reason for every challenge, if you can find it, it will give you a greater level of peace and confidence.
When we post here atimes, even the poster gets encouraged. As @mychildren said, there are times I post that the post even ministers to me as I type and I gain more insights and comfort. That is why the bible says to be a help to people because in many cases you end of helping yourself.

cheesy @Gombs,
Are you a commentator? Lolz. Their not believing is proof of what happens when people live life in the physical and do not understand divine principles. Some blessings will seem like a lie to them.
God's principles are eternal, belief, praying, studying more about God and walking with him, which gives us the right heart and mind in the first place, giving, fasting, diligence at work and business, honesty, intergrity, staying away from sin and so much more.
All these work together to help.in abundant life and we should expect persecutions, and trials but they all work together for our good.

@Joagbaje, why should they faint? I thought they give their all, 100% cheerfully and without compulsion in the first place.
I remember where you shared how you helped that poor, naked man that was said to be mad on a thread a long time ago and people still did not believe it, infact they supposed 'advicates' of the poor started castigating you. It was proof to show it is all a show of words they claim to profess to help. By God's grace, I have picked a beggar and refugee from the street, preached to him and paid his airfare back to his family and also assist with his school fees and needs. Now these are such testimonies we should be hearing more, Isn't it?
And how is the young man now?
Religion / Re: Tithes And Offerings by Alwaystrue(f): 8:21am On Dec 02, 2013
@Bidam,
I learnt about giving all my salary in a month once and I laughed the first time I heard it. But after laughing I talked to myself and later prayed for grace to do it. That is why I say grace is an enabler. Do you know God provided in such an amazing way?
In the church I attend now for some years now, they do not talk about giving all salary but I did not forget my experience and since then for over 5 years, a salary a year is used for people (needy and ministers) and nothing of it comes to me.

Abraham gave his all (His Isaac), and God had to swear by Himself, a blessing we all enjoy now but many cannot even give their 100% to very same poor they keep advocating for yet their hypocrisy is glaring. What is so big to give God?
If we claim God owns our all, at least let us show some of it in unrighteous mammon.

When you give to poor or the church, who do you? When you drop an offering, tithe, give alms, is it the beggar you see or God. That will determine how and why you give? So when people say tithe is giving to Pastor, what about offering thatbis also collected in church? What about the alms given to beggars or giving to needy people?

I do not like talking about myself much but decided to give a tease of it when I saw some claims.
The church and those in it give and that is why they are always in the news for their exploits and some bitter people get angry.
If you do not believe in worshipping in the church you attend, why are you even there?
Religion / Re: Tithes And Offerings by Alwaystrue(f): 7:54am On Dec 02, 2013
@Gombs,
If we start with testimonies, many people will be dazed. Is it about getting a brand new car even when we have the money to purchase one, is it about a trip abroad FOC and your money returned to you? Flying business class or even on economy you are treated special, Is it about getting property in a choice location without having to take a bank loan and the owner of the property just loves your family. Or having property abroad as invetment? Is it about being the one people run to for assistance and instead of getting annoyed you ask God enlarge me so I can give more? Is it giving food to help families in need, restoring people back to their families and even paying the airfare, giving out cars to people.

For us it is about what we give out and not even what we get and not just the end or the result but how it came.
God showed the people His acts but Moses His ways.
The major testimony is how these things come about, this is just a tip of testimonies.
And to think we (me and my hubby) are salary earners from our secular work.

For me it is about giving resources,. tithe, offerings, whole salaries for people and the gospel. When God knows we will spend His resources well, He gives more. It is a thing of being faithful and that is why i feel so sorry for those who do not have undertsnding of this and keep straining at the gnat.

'I Am Not Ashamed' (2)

Monday, 02 December 2013

'I am not ashamed of the Gospel...' Romans 1:16

As a follower of Christ you can also say, 'I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...' Our Gospel is not education or sophistication, but salvation. It's not reformation or rehabilitation, but redemption from the penalty and the power of sin. The Bible says, 'If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.' (2 Corinthians 5:17) This is not the old car with a new set of plugs, points and a carburettor; it's a brand new model. Notice the words, 'For everyone who believes.' By placing your trust in Christ you are forgiven from all sin, clothed in Christ's righteousness, made fully acceptable in God's sight, and qualified for Heaven. You ask, 'How long does a prayer for salvation have to be?' The thief on the cross prayed only nine words: '...Lord, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom.' (Luke 23:42) The tax collector in the temple prayed only seven words: '...God, be merciful to me, a sinner.' (Luke 18:13) When Peter was sinking in the Sea of Galilee he only had time for three words: '...Lord, save me!' (Matthew 14:30) And the good news is - Christ saved them all. You ask, 'How do I receive this life-changing power?' By faith! 'For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.' (Romans 10:10-11)

Isaiah 51:1-3
1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.
3 For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

I was in church yesterday when I got the message above for our and said I would post it our parents here.

Hear the word of God, ye righteous ones who seek God, remembering that Abraham and Sarah who are our Fathers of faith bore even when they experienced delays but did not stagger in unbelief, the Lord is comforting all we daughters and men of Zion and making us like Eden, rebuilding our 'ruins and waste places', joy, gladness and songs are found here.
He is turning our mourning into dancing. What do we need, faith, believe and the peace only He gives. Rejoice this new day, week, month for the Lord has comforted His people.

Fully agree with this. This is what i've been trying to say. Regeneration of the spirit, reformation of the soul and redemption of the body. They are all different and don't happen simultaneously; and are not instant except for regeneration of the spirit. Thats why i don't call a christian who still sins a sinner.

Hmm i always say 'we will get there' when i wana sign out of an argument. But now we are really getting there. We will still be united in faith and knowlegde. I believe it.

Say hi to your husband for me. Guess you don't argue with him as with us here. grin

God bless

Lolz, thanks.
A sinner is he who sins, excuses the sin and is confident in the sin not a righteous man that falls, repents and uses the grace of God and help to keep him from falling, not keeping him fallen in sin.

That is what I had always been talking about if you read my posts well.
And that is why we said when people stop at the spirit restoration and now fail to work out their salvation claiming they are saved and need to do nothing more, the above explains they are the ones to hold on to the faith and possess their souls for the soul needs to be saved and it is by the word of God that happens.

Because I do not agree with all everyone says here especially when they give their own opinion without biblical inspiration or are giving rational thought to spiritual things should not be seen as argument.

I don't take such things hook line and sinker because I am a woman, if you call that argument then that is your opinion again. Lol.
Good morning Ayoku.

All glorious mums and dads, Congrats and welcome to the month of December 2013. May this last month be crowned with all the goodness of the year. Keep your trust in God.
@ayaakanoh, cjnone, pink22, tbaby4real, chi16, chidinma, muma, ebony, omonikiba, safe, Beloved, double blessing, uteh and all others plus newbies, God is faithful.

@Sotum, congrats! Was it not you that almost wanted to commit suicide? This is just to tell you when there is life, there is hope. I am glad you were advised by our parents here and comforted thus you were once again with hope.

@my children, if I remember correctly we still held fasting in October. However we have to always be alert, prayerful and maintain our joy and peace. The thread and other threads on NL are viewed by different people who we don't know so it is more about the people than the thread. Where there are good things happening, like a flower, bees gather. It is left for us to guard ourselves. Lets not be discouraged. Many have gained a lot from this thread and helped many to stay trusting God.

@goldenbaby, wow. It has come to that. You are now done here. It is alright o, I wish you the best.

@all, willing to rebuild the 'ruins' of the thread, please stand up...the remaining 300, let us reactivate this thread for God. When our dear @Mamatriplets our prayer warrior had some challenges, we should have spent time to interceed more for her but it is not too late to retrace our steps.
I was on the 30day fertility challenge thread, so I am back by God's grace to continue to share God's word. Let's not be weary.

@twinsgirlsbaby, I know. God is faithful o. We will continually rejoice more and more.

My husband and I just finished a discussion of salvation and I gained this:

Ephesians 2:18
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Our spirits are reconciled to and with God.

2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.

Our souls are transformed as we behold ourselves in the mirror of the Word of God with eyes of the Spirit.

Philipians 3:21
Who will transform and fashion anew the body of our humiliation to conform to and be like the body of His glory and majesty, by exerting that power which enables Him even to subject everything to Himself.

Our bodies are to conform to be like the body of His Majesty. We put it under subjection.

@Pastor Olu T, thanks for taking time to post this. It is enlightening. Jesus came as ransom for our sin and restore our fellowship with the Father through quickening our spirits and thus restoring life/commnication to God. We are now like Adam was before sin though we are still prone to fleshly actions and memories of past life which we have to gradually renew our minds of, to have the same mind of Christ.
This is where many do not yet understand that Christ has given us all that pertains to life and godliness by our new spirit so it is left to us to pursue this in our souls for it will be terrible to lose the soul despite what Christ did for us when we refuse to work out our salvation.

Hear Jesus:
Luke 21:19
By standing firm, you will win your souls.

dammygoody:
My Question is; in what way can we blaspheme the Holy Ghost?.

Mark 3:28-30
28  Truly and solemnly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever abusive and blasphemous things they utter;
29  But whoever speaks abusively against or maliciously misrepresents the Holy Spirit can never get forgiveness, but is guilty of and is in the grasp of an everlasting trespass.

30  For they persisted in saying, He has an unclean spirit.

Isaiah 5:20
That is why we should be careful of what we say and guard out lips. James 3:2.

Judging people and and judging their actions righteously are not the same thing.
