Six persons were found dead and two unconscious this morning in a hotel known as 50-50 located around Uyo street close to First Bank in Umuahia ,Abia State capital.

IGBERE TV gathered that the hotel is a brothel and the girls living there have had experience of mysterious slaps some weeks back that left one person unconscious.

Our attention has been brought to the arrest of Mr. Iroegbu Emenike, a Blogger, Publisher of Abia Facts Newspapers, and The Abia State Secretary of Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (AMPON), by officials of the State Security Services (SSS)

Mr. Emenike's home was stormed by the State Security Services officials on the 6th of September at 1pm. His home was ransacked, his phones and laptops confiscated including his wife's phone before he was taken away by the men of the SSS.

No reasons have been given for this arrest and we the Association of online publishers find it worrisome that the SSS could behave in the manner reminiscent of dictatatorial regimes.

It is unfortunate that this is happening in a democracy where the mantra of "Change" is drummed into ears daily.


Just a few weeks back, another online publisher Abubakar Sidiq Usman had been arrested by the EFCC for alleged Cyber stalking the Chairman of the EFCC. It was only after a public outcry that Abubakar sidiq was released. This is a bad precedent that must be nipped in the bud before it becomes a norm.

We hereby condemn, in the strongest possible terms, this arbitrary arrest which is contrary to the tenets of democracy and engenders free speech.

We therefore call on the Abia State Governor, who we were relaibly informed Ordered the Arrest of Mr. Iroegbu to also Order for his immediate release from DSS custody.

The illegal arrest of Comrade Iroegbu Emenike of Abia Facts Newspapers (An Online Media Outfit) by men of the DSS in Uyo, Akwaibom State, and his subsequent transfer and detention in Umuahia is an anti democratic affront that must be condemned by all men of good conscience and lovers of democracy.
It would be recalled that officers of the Department of State Securite Service (DSSS) yesterday violently stormed the home of the Abia born Media Practitioner in a Nazi Gestapo manner, ransacked and scattered his house, took his
phones and laptop before bundling him into their car and subsequently took him to their station where he was briefly detained before being taken to the Abia State capital.
Emenike's illegal arrest is alleged to have been masterminded by the agents of Abia State Government which is why he was bundled down to Umuahia from Uyo.
The fact that the members of the DSS came with no warrant, and gave no cogent reason is a confirmation to the illegality of the arrest.
It's important that members of the DSSS learn a big lesson from what happened to some soldiers and other security agents who made them selves willing tools in the hands of some enemies of democracy before and during the 2015 general election.


Members of the DSSS should not play into the hands of enemies of Abia State who are determined to perpetuate misgovernance and dictatorship by silencing the voices of the media and the opposition through intimidation, illegal arrest and incarceration.
If the DSSS and their sponsors thinkthey have got any issues to settle with the media, critics and opposition members etc, the instruments of the law must be applied.
If Abia State government and their agents are truly responsible for this primitive kind of political harassment as being alleged, I would advise that they retreat, because anti democratic harassment of this nature has never triumphed over democratic voice of reasoning.
Comrade Iroegbu Emenike's illegal arrest is wicked, insulting, undemocratic and embarrassing to Abians hence the need for his abductors to immediately release him unconditionally in the interest of peace.
Decomcracy has come to stay in Nigeria, and Abia cannot be an exemption.

A DSS Operative, who does not want to be named confirmed that the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu ordered the Arrest of the Blogger.
