Eminent businessman and former Governor of Abia State has challenged the governments of the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany and other developed nations to support the anti- corruption war of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration by exposing Nigerians who have looted thenation’s resources, adding that previous administrations paid lip-service to the war against corruption.

According to the former governor, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which was established by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003 to prevent, investigate, prosecute and penalize economic and financial crimes, became an instrument of political witch-hunt and victimization, noting that the pioneer chairman of the anti-graft agency, Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, allowed himself to be used by former President Obasanjo for unpatriotic motives.

Kalu made these remarks on Tuesday while hosting a group of graduate African students of the National War College at Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The businessman-cum-politician, who has a pending case with the EFCC said, “Before venturing into politics I was an accomplished businessman beyond the shores of Nigeria having built a conglomerate with vast business interests in trading, aviation, publishing and oil and gas.

“During my stint as Governor of Abia State, despite the slim resources then, I improved the lives of the people through the execution of a wide range of projects including free medical and educational schemes across the 17 local government areas in the state.

“In less than six months into my first tenure of office, the then President Obasanjo, who was on a working visit to the state named me "Action Governor" based on the massive rehabilitation and construction of roads embarked upon by my administration.

“It is unfortunate that due to my campaign against the 3rd term bid of former President Obasanjo, he used the federal might against me. He directed Mr. Ribadu, former EFCC boss to clamp down on my businesses (including SLOK Airline, SLOK oil, Southgate and Hallmark banks).

“It is saddening to note that Obasanjo who was using the EFCC to crush his enemies spent $16 billion on power without any significant improvement in electricity supply in Nigeria. What about the $74 million Halliburton bribe to Obasanjo and his cohorts. It is only in Nigeria that a corrupt person can label another person corrupt.

“In 2005, President Obasanjo wrote to the UK and US authorities to indict me of financial crime but I was cleared innocent by former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair and former US President George Bush.

“I am a victim of political blackmail as I ruled Abia State with my conscience and the fear of God.

“However, I am happy that the current leadership of the anti-graft agency under the new Nigerian government has been focused on delivering on its mandate without fear or favour.

“I wish to appeal to the western world to help Nigeria by exposing those Nigerians who have looted the country’s resources to invest and buy choice properties in Europe, USA, UAE, Asia and Middle East.

“The international intelligence agencies have a critical role to play in fishing out those that have stolen the common wealth of Nigerians”

Chief Mao Ohuabunwa risks facing trial over charges on assault by a court Bailiff, Madam Chidnma Echere who have vowed to drag him to court for ordering his thugs to beat her up.

Madam Echere was at Ohuabunwa's Arochukwu country home Sunday to serve theembattled Senator with court papers on the petition by Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu but Ohuabunwa ordered his thugs to beat her up.

The enraged Senator said "You know that today is my Thanksgiving and you came here to spoil my event abi."

But the Bailiff explained that she had no knowledge of the event but was only at his house to carry out her duties after failed attempts on Thursday and Friday to serve him.

But her explanation was not sufficient for Ohuabunwa as he ordered his thugs to beat her up.

Madam, Nkechi narrowly escaped serious injuries by the enraged thugs when one Eme Uchanwa and Chief Ama Ibrahim (The Arochukwu TC Chairman) came to her rescue.

Speaking to our correspondent on phone after the incident, Madam Nkechi said that she has briefed her lawyers over the incident andwill soon file for damages against Senator Ohuabunwa.

Also an eyewitness who does not want to be named said it is the hight of irresponsibility and impunity for a lawmaker who makes law for the society to bully a public servant for carrying out her lawful duties.

All efforts to speak with Senator Ohuabunwa on the matter proved abortive as he did not pick his calls nor replied text messages

Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, said on Friday that the decision of the Supreme Court directing his trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged N2.4b fraud as governor is a welcome development, pointing out that there was nothing unusual about the order,
Dr. Kalu, who made this known from London where he is delivering a convocation lecture, declared that he was ready and highly disposed to the trial. “This is another opportunity to prove my innocence. I have all the records and facts of the case. I am willing to submit myself for the rule of law to take its course. That has always been my passionate advocacy right from the lower courts where the case emanated.
According to a release signed by his media adviser, Mr. Ebere Wabara, “this clarification has become imperative lest oppositional forces mischievously misinterpret the ruling and mislead the public by injecting their jaundiced opinions into the routine directive as had always been with similar cases where the apex court intervened. There is nothing novel about the latest manifestation in the on-going litigation—it was the next thing to expect.”
“I assure the EFCC of my continued support and profound cooperation in any further investigation into this allegation. Let me reaffirm that all the defence documents relating to the case are at my disposal and I am willing when the time comes to make them available to the agency.
“There is nothing surprising about this stage of the case. Having exhausted the lower court processes, the next level is where we have arrived and as I have always insisted I will be vindicated at the end of it all. I have nothing to fear as there is no skeleton in my cupboard hence my robust commitment to the rule of law in this and other issues involving me. This is part of the price I have to pay for opposing the third-term agenda fiasco of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. My happiness is that Nigerians are aware of all my travails for standing against evil in the country in whatever form,” Dr. Kalu said.

Reports just coming from Bende is that there is tension following the apprehension of PDP Chieftains with sensitive INEC election material for the Abia North Senatorial rerun holding this Saturday.

Barely 24 hours to the Abia North Senatorial rerun poll, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Chief Mao Ohuabunwa and his cohorts stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State to hijack sensitive and non- sensitive electoral materials deployed for the Saturday poll.



The PDP Chieftains: the Secretary to the Abia State government (SSG), Dr. Emeh Okoro, Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Cosmos Nduke, the Abia North PDP Candidate, Mao Ohuabunwa, Chief PC Mba and Chief Onyegbu had arrived Bende some minutes ago under the cover of the night, for a secret meeting with INEC officials at BENDE LGA Headquarters but unfortunately for them, the youths who have been keeping vigil over the coming election got wind of the meeting and stormed the venue. Immediately the youths arrived, the security details of the PDP chieftains started shooting sporadically but the youths were undeterred. As the angry youths surged, the security personnel smuggled the PDP Chieftains out of the venue through the back door. According to the report, Cosmos Ndukwe, PC Mba and Chief Onyegbu were not so lucky as they ran into the bush abandoning their cars.



As at the time of this report, their cars are still abandoned at the location, all tyres deflected by the youths. Many of the youths are still combing the bush to catch them.

Speaking to IGBERE TV under condition of anonymity, an election observer from Lagos said, " it is unfortunate that the PDP chieftains in Abia State can be this lawless especially with the actions of Abia State government political office holders.

"In a genuine democratic society, the electoral act must be strictly adhered to.

Following the Outburst of Chief Mao Ohuabunwa, casting aspersions on the person of the former governor of Abia State, and PPA Candidate in the Abia North senatorial rerun, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, during a BCA program this morning, Elders of Abia North have cautioned the former Reps members to stop disgracing the people of the region.

In a telephone chat with Igbere TV correspondent, Chief Akwara Uma said, "Does Ohuabunwa think we have short memory? Someone should go and tell him that we have not forgotten how he sabotaged Former Governor Kalu's project to reconstruct the Arochukwu - Uzuakoli road. I Heard he collected the money from Obasanjo and till today, nobody has accounted where the money went into. But one day, he must vomit all our money he stole. The spirit of Abia North will continue to hunt him because of this his senseless betrayal. Am a member of PDP but we have disowned Mao because we know he wants to go to the senate to serve his selfish interest and not the interest of the people."

Also the immediate Former Commissioner of Information in Abia state, Hon. Eze Chikamnayo also revealed how Chief Mao Ohuabunwa abandoned his duties at the House of Representative and was chasing after wives of prominent Arochukwu people, recording several cases of rape against young Abia North women. Recalling how Dr. Kalu gave life to the poverty stricken Mao Ohuabunwa in 1998, Chikamnayo condemned Ohuabunwa's brand of selfish politics. According to him, Ohuabunw wasted 12 years in the House of Representatives accumulating wealth at the expense of the people he was elected to represent.

Besides, a particular caller, Madam Ogbeyealu, was literally crying as she narrated how Chief Ohuabunwa evicted them from their only source of livelihood at the Ubi Farm (Rice Farm) Ozuakoli and initiated the construction of estates on the land.
