Business / How To Write Job-winning Proposals On Upwork by AmakaWrites: 2:08pm On Nov 22, 2021
As someone who tutors freelancers on how to get their first/next client on Upwork, I’ve read a lot of proposals.

From my observation, I can confidently tell you that one of the major reasons most freelancers on platforms like Upwork never get hired is because they don’t know how to sell themselves, their services, or their skills through proposal writing.

You may be qualified for the jobs you see advertised on Upwork, but if you don’t know how to prove this to clients, you may never get hired. Less competent people will get hired if they can sell themselves better.

If you’re conversant with Upwork, you’ll know that as a freelancer on the platform you must submit proposals. What this spells is that you must learn how to write proposals if you want to see those dollars rolling into your account.

Initially, the argument was that Upwork doesn’t accept Nigerians on their platform.

But as most of us already know, that’s false.

So the new argument most people who haven’t been able to land their first client make is that- people don’t like to give Nigerians jobs. So they register on Upwork using the picture of a random white man or woman downloaded from Google and change their location using a VPN.

Yet, they don’t get any jobs.

Next, they get frustrated. And when you try to tell them that it’s possible for them to earn in dollars from Nigeria using their original identity and true location, they feel you want to sell them snake oil.

But whether you believe it or not, people are feeding their families and buying luxurious items with the money they make on platforms like Upwork and Fiverr.

So before you throw in the towel as a freelancer on Upwork, read this post till the end.

The main questions your proposal should answer are:

- How can I help my client achieve his goal/ solve his problem?

- What qualifies me to do this?

Most freelancers never answer these questions in their proposals. If you don’t answer these questions, it means you’ve submitted a selfish proposal, and no client will award his job to a selfish freelancer.

To easily answer these questions, put yourself in the client’s shoes.

Let’s discuss the first question;

How can I help my client achieve his goal/ solve his problem?

Answering this question proves that you have read the job description and you understand what the client needs.
But sometimes, you’ll need to look beyond what is written.

Here’s what I mean.

For example, an affiliate marketer uploads a job description stating that s/he requires the services of a product description writer.
The main goal of an affiliate marketer is to convince people to make a purchase so s/he can earn a commission from the sales.

So what this client needs, although he doesn’t explicitly state it in his job description, is a (copy)writer who can write persuasively/ convincingly, so his readers can buy the product/ service he is promoting. Thus, generating revenue for him.

While writing your proposal, hint on how you will help the client achieve this goal too.

Q2: What qualifies me to do this?

Talk is cheap.

What’s the proof that you are who or what you say you are? What qualifies you to handle the client’s project?

Experience has always been the best way to prove this. But other things like educational background works too.

P.S.: The tips I’ve discussed in this post are applicable outside Upwork too.

P.S.S.: Asides your proposal, your profile also plays a huge part in your client acquisition journey on Upwork. You may want to work on that too if you’re struggling to get a client.

Career / Get Remote Paying Jobs On Fiverr And Upwork Today by AmakaWrites: 1:40pm On May 11, 2021
Dear Nigerian youth, as you already know, unemployment rate is at an all-time high. But you don't have to be part of the number that forms the statistics of unemployment in Nigeria.

If you've been applying for office jobs/ 9-5 jobs without getting any, why not try remote working opportunities?

If you're currently unemployed and looking for a job, learn a skill.

If you feel you can't use your money to pay for classes that will fast-track your learning process, watch YouTube videos.

After learning a skill, try remote working job boards like Fiverr and Upwork. You earn in dollars on those platforms.

Most people in Nigeria earn as little as N45,000 as monthly salary (when they are paid o).

45k is about $100. You can earn over $100 in a month on Fiverr and Upwork.

Actually, you can earn waayyy more than that.

But let's say your goal is N100k in a month, you'll have to earn $250 to meet that target which is very doable!

Again, if you don't want to pay for classes that can help you fast-track your success, YouTube is your friend.

But if you're willing to invest in a class that will guide you on how to get your first client on Upwork, shoot me a message now on Whatsapp: 0706 252 5532.
I can guide you on how to create an approved Upwork account. I will also give you a template for writing proposals on Upwork.

If we're honest, most 9-5s in Nigeria are worthless. They steal your time, youth, and peace of mind.

But that's not all. Always upgrade your skillset.
Learn new things.

The truth is once you make your first dollar, you'll always want more.

The easier way of getting more is by attracting better-paying clients. Better paying clients require people with a particular level of skill set.
If you don't already have it, discover what it is and learn it.

For more questions about how to get gigs on Upwork send me a Whatsapp message on 0706 252 5532.

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Get Your Upwork Account Approved And Get Your First Client by AmakaWrites: 3:55pm On Sep 29, 2020
Get your Upwork account approved in less than 15 minutes.

Do you need help getting your Upwork account approved?
I have prepared a guide to help you with that. With N5,000, you can claim it for yourself.

But that won't be all. This one time payment will grant you free access to a class where I'll be discussing how to land your first client on Upwork. This class is a 6 day class and answers almost all your questions concerning Upwork and freelancing.

We discuss how to write your profile overview, and how to craft a compelling proposal as well as other things that could affect your chances of success on Upwork.

You can always make back that N5,000 and even more by creating accounts for people or teaching them how to.

Send me a Whatsapp message on 07062525532 to get it.

P.S.: You should know that if your account isn’t approved, you’ll have to wait for another 6 months before you can try again. That’s a long time to wait to make your first or next dollar.

Below is proof that this guide is effective and current. I've also attached proof that to show you that what you'll learn in the class works.
Send me a message on 07062525532 now to get started.

Investment / How to Invest Your First N100,000, Guaranteed to give You High ROI by AmakaWrites: 4:13pm On Apr 03, 2020
I remember when my bank account clocked N100,000 for the first time. I felt I would die of excitement. Lol. You see, 100k seemed like a big money to me then, but when I sat down to calculate how to spend and invest, I quickly found out that it wasn’t a lot of money after all.

I browsed and compared interest rates. The best I saw was 10% per annum. Meaning that if I invested all the money in my account at that time, I would make only N10,000 at the end of the year. Only N10,000 after 365 days! “There has to be something better,” I told myself. And there were.

I consulted a couple of people who I can easily describe as financially successful people. I needed their expert opinion on what best to do with my money. At that time, I was also listening to, and watching YouTube videos by Bob Proctor. His videos also informed the decisions I eventually took.

Sincerely, some of the advice I was given was not what I expected at all. But I took them because the persons that gave me knew something I didn’t and I am beyond grateful to God that I did because I am very certain that if I didn’t, I won’t be financially independent now. I will share some of those pieces of advice with you and I won’t be surprised if you object to any of them. Just take what works for you.

You can chat with me directly by tapping on the link below
http:///2347062525532

You should also know that the financial cost of implementing these pieces of advice wasn’t up to N100,000. So I didn’t go broke while implementing them.

1. Invest in yourself
As the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffet, said, the best investment you can make is the one you make in yourself. The more you learn, the more you earn.

You’ll soon find that people are willing to pay you more for being a better version of yourself. That’s why you find that in a structured organization, MSc. Holders earn more than BSc. Holders. Just as Ph.D. holders earn more than MSc. holders.

I’m not saying you should go back to school. No.

There are other less expensive and more effective ways of investing in yourself.
Choose a career and focus on getting better at it every day. Take courses, read books, attend seminars, conferences, workshops, etc, that are in line with your career choice.
An investment you make in yourself can never be lost or taken away from you. Another way to invest in yourself is by:

2. Learning a high-income skill

A high-income skill is one that solves a high-value problem; as a result, people are willing to pay highly for it.
There are countless skills out there, but not all of them can be qualified as high-income skills.
You should also note that there’s a difference between a skill and a job. A job is given and can be taken away from you. A skill is yours to take and can never be taken away from you because, like Peak, it’s in you.

You’ll need about 4-6 years of study to qualify for a job, but in less than 3 months, you can learn a skill and start making money with it. Web design and development, graphics and design, programming, digital marketing, cybersecurity, copywriting, etc are examples of high-income skills.
Some of these skills don’t need extensive training. For example, the class on Copywriting and Upwork I conduct is a 5-day class, yet people testify that they’ve been able to use what they learnt from the class to make money on and off Upwork. You just need to learn the basics as that would help you know where to start from and help you draw your map.

3. Create multiple streams of income

I’ve been hearing about multiple streams of income since when I was in the university, but it used to sound like ‘rich man vocabulary’ to me because I felt I would need money to start and run new businesses. But now I know better.
People say knowledge is power, but I like to say applied knowledge is money.
I better understood the concept of creating multiple streams of income by listening to Bob Proctor.

The top 1% earners in any economy have multiple streams of income. Look at Dangote, for example. The man has over 30 streams of income. Even if 20 of those businesses fold up today, he’ll still have enough to cater for his needs and wants.
We have multiple streams of expenditure, it’s only logical to have multiple streams of income.

From one salary, you pay your house rent, school fees, medical bills, electricity bills, send money to your parents, etc. It’s not hard to see why a lot of people are financially disadvantaged.

But just imagine how much better it will be to have multiple streams of income.

Opposed to what I initially thought, you can create related multiple streams of income. See how I did that below:
After taking a course on copywriting, I read more books on copywriting and started freelancing on Upwork. Before I joined Upwork, I had to pay someone to help me create an account because I tried multiple times and it was not approved.
I noticed a lot of people were facing the same challenge of creating an approved Upwork account, so I decided to learn how to create an approved account. I paid N10,000 to learn this, but I have earned more than 20 times that amount teaching and creating approved accounts for people. I still do that to date.

I host digital training on Copywriting and Upwork and I also have an e-book for people who may not be able to attend the 5-day class due to whatever constraint. So for me, I have 5 streams of income and all of them are related to Copywriting and Upwork.
What I learned by implementing these is this: not every seed is meant for eating, some are meant for planting. I'm glad I planted.

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Make The Best Out Of Corona Virus by AmakaWrites: 12:34pm On Mar 22, 2020
E don happun, I don tell am.

The previous article I posted on this platform highlighted the need to learn skills that can be transacted online. Not just any skills, but high-income skills (high-income skills are skills which solve high-value problems and as a result, people pay highly for them), as the naira was at risk of devaluation.
In case you missed that post, let me tell you some of the issues discussed on it.

We discussed the need to learn high-income skills, such as copywriting, web design and development, graphics design, etc and register your services on global freelance platforms such as Fiverr and Upwork. We learned that this is important because the naira was at risk of devaluation following the drop in oil price and the projected additional drop in oil price. These price reductions are some of the economic effects of the Wuhan Virus.

Whilst our only fear at the time that article was written was the expected devaluation of naira caused by the Wuhan Virus, we certainly have more than just the naira to worry about. We have our sustenance and daily bread to worry about now because the Wuhan Virus which many initially thought was a White man virus has shown itself to be a Black man virus as well as is already in our country.

To curb the spread of the virus, schools have been asked to close, gatherings of over 30 (the number given differs across states) people have been prohibited and some workers have been told to work remotely.

What does that spell for you?

For some people, the recession has started already. For others, it’s a season of boom
While many are groaning and praying for this season to pass, you should look for the opportunities hidden in this challenge and feed on them.

Let me give you an insight.

The government may soon have to take stricter precautionary measures as the reported cases of people with the virus seems to be increasing by the day. As at the time of writing this, there are 22 confirmed cases in Nigeria, according to NCDC’s report. To curb the spread of the virus, more offices may have to tell their workers to work from home. You should expect a proliferation of online stores as offline stores may have to stop operation pending when things return to normal.

Where do you come in?

Think, what services would businesses new to the online environment need?
Copywriting: they’ll surely need to be able to attract visitors to their sites and convert these visitors into buyers through the ‘seductive’ use of words. As a copywriter, you are a salesman in print. You write copies which make people invest in whatever you are selling, even if they have to borrow to do so.

Graphics design: they’ll surely need a logo and other designs

Web design and development: They’ll surely need websites
Etc.

I hope you get the point now.

If you possess these skills, you are already at an advantaged position and you should look for ways to project yourself to your client.
If you don’t you should learn one of them.

Online stores like Amazon are experiencing a boom in sales as most foreign countries are not just practising social distancing but also self-isolation. Of course, people still need to shop, therefore online stores have become their go-to place.

If you’re a copywriter, this will be a good time for you as you’ll have a lot of product descriptions, buying guides and sales copy to write.

Now I’ve given you a hint on how you can make money despite whatever challenges there are now, what is your next action? Do you want to just sit and blame the government for not closing the border earlier and banning international flights or do you want to take advantage of the new opportunities before you, by learning copywriting or any other high-income skill?

Remember, you have no control over how things will turn out because of this virus. Therefore, be sure you’re one of the tough people this season will produce. Don’t get swallowed by the tough times.

Career / How Corona Virus Is Affecting Economies & What You Can Do To Be Financially Safe by AmakaWrites: 6:22pm On Mar 01, 2020
It’s just the third month of 2020, but the recorded disasters have been enough to spread through 5 years. The year started with the US and Iran going head-on against each other with threats of war following the murder of one of Iran’s top military personnel by the US. A lot of us were beyond certain there will be World War III. There were even several war memes flying around which served as comic relief.

After a while, the heat between both parties cooled, but before we could exhale, we were hit by another news- the Coronavirus. The coronavirus started in Wuhan, Central China’s largest city and has reportedly spread to every continent, excluding Antarctica. Let’s not talk about the death tolls so far or how this has greatly affected the economy of not just China, but several other countries.

The purpose of this article is not to scare you or make you start shouting ‘End time signs!’

No.

The essence of this article is to inform you and prod you to think.
Stock market reports show that ‘Stay at home stocks’ such as Netflix, Peloton, Etsy, Zoom Video are doing well, while ‘Go outside stocks’ such as Uber, Lyft Inc., Madison Square Garden, etc are declining.

In another language, people are going out less and staying indoors more.

Drastic measures have been put in place to curb the spread of the virus.
If you’ve been following world news, you’ll find out that the government of Japan has ordered the shutting down of all elementary, middle and high schools.
Saudi Arabia has canceled pilgrimage to Mecca.
Tokyo 2020- 2020 Summer Olympics- is in jeopardy of being canceled or postponed due to the virus.
The US and South Korea have postponed military drills over the fear of the virus.

In Lagos here, the Governor- Sanwo-Olu- has hinted that gatherings in public places may have to be banned if cases escalate. This comes after the first recorded case of the virus in Nigeria was confirmed in Lagos. It’s been reported that an Italian, who works in Nigeria, is the carrier of the virus.
As part of the preventive measures by the state, the office the Italian man works at has been locked down. This is because the virus can be transmitted by making contact with a contaminated surface, then touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

The purpose of this write up is to put to your consciousness that there are other ways you can make money without having to expose yourself by going out, especially when your expected monthly salary may not be worth the risk.

There are freelance platforms where you can sell your services/ skills for a good price. High-income skills like copywriting, graphics, web design and development are usually in high demand and people are usually willing to pay highly for it. Freelance platforms like Upwork and Fiverr pay in dollars. As freelance platforms, you understand that you can work from the comfort of your home instead of going out, thereby risking yourself.

Earlier this year, financial experts projected there’s a 72% chance the CBN is going to devalue the naira by 5-10%. Recently, the price of crude oil dropped. Considering that it’s Nigeria’s major export you can already tell how this will affect the currency.

Apart from the comfort working on global freelance platforms give you, you also earn in dollars, not naira. You could get paid as much as $20 per hour as a newbie. There are people who charge $100 per hour.
The current exchange rate for dollars is N365. I don’t need to tell you that for every dollar you earn, you’re 365 times richer than the Nigerian earning its unit equivalent.

Today is a good day to think creatively and proactively. You don’t need to wait till the government takes similar drastic measures like the aforementioned foreign governments did before you start thinking of an online source of income.
Take a step today. Learn a high-income skill like copywriting, register your skill on freelance platforms like Upwork where you’ll work with clients who value your work and will pay you well for it.

Happy new month dear.

Career / Strictly For Lagosians Earning Less Than N100,000 A Month by AmakaWrites: 4:57pm On Feb 17, 2020
Following the recent ban on okadas and kekes (tricycles), the alternative means of transportation for Lagosians is trekking alias OTrek alias Leggedis Benz.

To you (non-Lagosian), it’s a joke and a source of new memes, but to us (Lagosians), it’s no joke. If you think it’s a joking matter, ask that horse that fainted after working for just less than a day why it couldn’t bear the pain.
Initially, trekking might seem like an exercise, an opportunity to burn some fat. But at a point, it no longer feels like exercise. It becomes a punishment. Come on na. Do you know what it means to trek from GRA to Alausa under this hot sun?

Research shows that trekking too much poses various health risks such as ankle, knee, hips and lower back injuries, inflammation, dehydration, delayed-onset muscle soreness amongst other health challenges.
Apart from these health risks, have you also noticed that you get to work feeling exhausted, sweaty and unmotivated already?
The result?
You’re just not the best version of yourself. Your productivity level is below par.

Let’s say you decide to use Uber instead. The cost of Uber has nearly doubled for obvious reasons. Can your N100,000 or less salary comfortably book your rides daily, or as often as you’d like?
How much money would you have left if you decide to go the Uber way? Would it be enough to feed and pay your other bills for the rest of the month?

If your answer was ‘no’ to any of the above questions stick with me for just two more minutes.

Let me ask you a question, please.

For how long do you want to trek? Or spend your salary on Uber rides?
If you’ve been following the state government’s updates on this situation, you must have read that there’ll be no going back on the ban. So, either you prepare yourself mentally, psychologically, emotionally and otherwise for more trekking or you start thinking of ways to get yourself out of this suffer head situation.

If you want to get out of this suffer head situation, I have 2 suggestions on how you could make things easier for yourself;

1. Start a passive business.
A passive business does not necessarily need your time and attention. Starting a passive business means you can be making money from it while at work. A complementary business would be a good example of a passive business.
Let me explain what a complementary business is using an example.
Let’s say there’s a tailor on your street who doesn’t sell materials, s/he only sews. Buy materials and put them in his or her shop. A lot of people do not have the strength to go to the market to buy materials when they want to sew. Others could just walk in, like the materials on display and buy.

After sales, you go and collect your money. Instead of trekking, you can use the profit you make from your passive business to book Uber.
Apart from complementary businesses, there are other passive businesses you could start.
But hold on, because my second suggestion is sweeter than my first and will give you the opportunity to save money instead of spending your profit on Uber. It will also save you time and energy.

2. Learn a high-income skill

A high-income skill is a skill which solves a high-value problem, is in high demand and as a result, people are willing to pay highly for it.
Copywriting is an example of a high-income skill. Most business professionals rate copywriting as one of the top 10 high-income skills for 2020.
There are other high-income skills such as web design and development, digital marketing, public speaking, consulting, media buying, sales funnel building, cybersecurity, etc.

You see, the thing with learning a high-income skill is that there’s so much room to grow and the better you get, the higher you’ll be paid. Learning a high-income skill is a self-investment.

Personally, I’m a freelance copywriter.
This means that while other Lagosians are waking up by 4/ 5 so they can start their trekking early, I’ll still be asleep. The time now is 4:18 pm. I am seated on a chair pulled close to the ironing board (which I have converted to my work station), typing this. I haven’t stepped a foot out of my house today. If my gate has been repainted, I don’t know.
I am at home, working under correct fan and earning over N100,000 a month just from writing.
You could too if you want.

Now I’m not saying you should quit your 9-5 job and stay at home.

No.

As a freelance copywriter, working on freelance platforms such as Upwork and Fiverr, you get to choose how long you want to work, how many projects you want to take on and how much you want to be paid.

Guess what, you get paid in dollars, not naira, working via those platforms.

Career / 5 Money Secrets: How Money Really Works According to Multi-millionaire, Dan Lok by AmakaWrites: 3:15pm On Feb 10, 2020
1. Money moves to those who are not afraid to talk about it
Don’t be ashamed to talk about money with people. A lot of people feel shy/ ashamed to talk about money, which is wrong.
They justify this shame and fear by saying things like, ‘money is the root of all evil’, ‘money is not everything’, etc.
People who think and talk like that are broke.
If I keep saying ‘Favour (replace this with your name), you are the root of all evil’! Will you keep coming around?

Money has feelings and like every other thing, it obeys the law of attraction.
You attract what you always speak about. If you don’t talk about money, it’ll rarely come around you. If, when you talk about money, you talk about it with sadness or talk about it negatively, it will rarely come around you.
If you always talk about people negatively, you’ll find out that people will rarely come around you.
When they do, they want to leave your presence almost immediately. It’s the same thing with money.

It’s not enough to talk about money, do so with happiness and nice words.

A lot of us grew up associating money with negative things and memories. For example, when you ask your parents for money, the first answer you get is ‘there’s no money’ or ‘do you think I pluck money from trees?’
Some parents even accompanied their replies with a slap, because they feel you ask too much or to cover up for their inefficiency.
For most Nigerian parents, money is always the cause of their fight.
Subsequently, because you have grown up in an environment that’s hostile to money, you unconsciously become hostile and evasive when money is mentioned, and you pretend that money is not everything.

Most of us didn’t receive any education about money from our parents or guardians. The highest form of education we may have received came in the words, ‘you must learn to manage what you are given.’
No talk about how you can multiply the money you have.
No talk about how you can earn money in the first place.
If you want to have money, you must throw that useless fear or shame away and talk about money openly: The same way you talk about football, as a guy. The same way you talk about make-up, as a lady.

2. Money moves to those who love it the most
Following the first point, money moves to those who love it the most.
For the rest of this class and after, I’ll like you to think of money as a human being. It has feelings and it flows where it feels welcome. Smile when you think of money.
I have this habit of sniffing money and smiling (I don’t think it’s healthy to sniff money shar). Credit alert gives me joy.
I’m sure it’s the same for all of us here.
If you want to get rich, you must think of ways to invest and multiply your money. People that are financially disadvantaged always think of how to spend money.

You get your salary today, the first thing you’re drafting out is a list of things you’ll buy. No plans on how to invest and multiply the money. That’s why you think of money in terms of something that’s limited, as a result it finishes before the middle of the month and you’re already shouting that you’re broke.

Why won’t you be broke? If you keep taking water from a drum without refilling it, won’t the water finish?

Let me ask.
If you have a boyfriend/ girlfriend and anytime you go to visit, s/he always asks when you’ll be going back home without welcoming you or offering you something to eat or drink, will you keep visiting? How long will your relationship even last?

Money is like your girlfriend/ boyfriend. Make your relationship with it last long by treating it right. You must understand this.

Think of money as something that’s abundant not scarce, because money is really abundant. If you think I’m lying, ask Abacha. Abacha died years ago, but he’s still funding Nigeria. The money he embezzled is the real definition of ‘money wey we get e no go finish.’

In fact, DJ play me Money by Soft and Wizkid. Lol.

On a serious note, you’ll find that rich people keep getting richer because they have a good relationship with money. Every rich person invests, that’s why money keeps coming back to them. it’s not jazz. Money has seen that rich people treat it right and welcome it, so it keeps going back to them.

You’re broke, you managed to see money, but instead of thinking of how to multiply that money by investing in yourself through a skill, you spend it on clothes, shoes, phone. That money will be the last you will have in a long time.
Love everything including money.

3. Money moves to those who understand it the most
The people you have chosen as friends are the people who understand you the most. Your best friend is probably the one who knows your thoughts and can complete what you’re saying even before you finish talking.
If you understand money, money will become your friend.
As I’ve emphasized before, money is like a human being.

Think of money as somebody that speaks a language. You’ll communicate better with people who speak your language. Some of you, the only money language you understand is ‘spend’. Dhazull
How much focus/ education did you get about money while growing up? For most of us, it’s very little. How do you make money? How do you keep it? How do you invest it? How do you multiply it? You never received this education, not from your family and not from school either.
That’s why you must charge yourselves at this age to read and learn about money.
How do you master money when you don’t understand its language?

4. Money goes to those who know how to circulate it
A naira saved remains a naira. In fact, a naira saved could become a kobo by the time the bank debits you for card maintenance, text messages, etc.
If you notice, I’ve not said save money. Instead, I’ve said ‘invest’. Investment leads to multiplication.
The best form of investment you can make is in yourself. Learn a skill. Practice it. Upgrade yourself by learning every day. People will pay you for becoming a better version of yourself.

Have you asked yourself why companies pay people with MSc. better than they pay people with BSc.? It’s because they are presumably better.
You can begin to invest in properties only after the investment you have made in yourself has started paying off.

Money is meant for spending, not hoarding. If everybody decides to hoard money, how will it get to you? Money is a currency, let it flow. It will come back to you.

Money goes to those who know how to circulate it especially in terms of business.
Open that new shop. Hire that person who is better than you.
If you master the art of selling every day, a debit alert will not make you unhappy because you know the money will come back to you. The debit alert that is making you unhappy is the credit alert that is making somebody happy.

If you’re happy spending your money on someone else’s product or service, people will be happy spending on yours.

5. Money moves to those who know how to multiply it
I’ve stressed this point several times in different ways, so I won’t stress it again. Before spending money, invest.
Spend what is left thereafter.
Not the other way

Once you know how to multiply money, you don’t have to chase money. Money chases you.
At this point ask yourself;

Do I talk about money?
Do I love money?
Do I understand money?
Do I know how to circulate money?
Do I know how to multiply money?

Investment / [UPDATED] 4 Best Ways To Invest Your First N100,000 by AmakaWrites: 2:20pm On Jan 27, 2020
I remember when my bank account clocked N100,000 for the first time, I felt I would die of excitement. Lol. That was about three years ago. You see, 100k initially seemed like a lot of money to me, but when I sat down to calculate how best to invest it, that’s when I found out it wasn’t much.
I checked and compared interest rates, but the best I found was 10% per annum. 10% of N100,000 is N10,000. That means if I decided to invest that 100k, what I’d withdraw after one year is N110,000. Nah. 10k isn’t worth my 365 days.

So, what did I do instead?

I solicited advice from some people whom I admired, especially because they were doing well financially. I figured they must have experienced my confusion at some point. I took some of the advice they gave me and left some. Therefore, I don’t expect you to take everything I’ll write below.
1. Invest in yourself
Warren Buffet said, “The best investment you can make is an investment in yourself. The more you learn, the more you earn.”
You’ll find out that people are willing to pay you more for being a better version of yourself. In a structured company, degree holders to not earn the same salary as Masters holders, just as Masters holders do not earn the same as Ph.D. holders.

I’m not saying you should go and get a second degree or Masters or Ph.D. No. There are other less expensive and more effective ways of investing in yourself.

Choose your career path and work towards getting better every day. Take a course, read books, attend seminars, conferences, workshops, etc that teach what’s related to your career path.

An investment you make in yourself can never be lost or taken away from you. Another wonderful way to invest in yourself is by;

2. Learning a high-income skill
Notice that I didn’t just write 'skill'. I wrote ‘high-income skill’. There are countless skills out there, but just a few of them will give you the opportunity to earn millions through them.
There’s a huge difference between a high-income skill and a high-income job. No matter where you’re working, you’ll one day have to resign or retire. You may even be sacked and that would be the end of your high-income salary. What happens then?

Your job can be taken away from you, but your skill can never be taken away from you. That’s why most professionals recommend that you have a skill.

You’ll need 4-6 years of study to gain the knowledge that will qualify you for a job, but you could learn a high-income skill in less than 6 months and start making money with it already. Web design and development, programming, digital marketing, cybersecurity, media buying, etc are all examples of high-income skills. But you see copywriting, that’s about the easiest high-income skill you can learn.

Copywriting is one skill anybody can learn, even people who think they are dummies. It’s a skill you can easily thrive in by modeling. Just model the best. You don’t need to reinvent anything and you’re good to go. It’s that easy, I tell you.

I host a class where I teach copywriting. I not only teach, but I also show people where they can apply their copywriting skills. It’s intense and value-packed. The link to join is at the end of this article.

3. Start a passive complementary business
A complementary business is one that leverages on another.

I’ll explain.

Most tailors around me don’t sell materials. They only sew. If you notice the same thing in your area, buy materials and give them to sell for you. When people walk into the tailor’s shop, they’ll buy the material because it will save them the stress of going to the market to look for materials.
Let what you bring complement what’s being sold, or the services being offered already. If it’s a salon, you can buy attachments and drop there if the hairdresser doesn’t sell attachments already. Don’t go and drop foodstuffs in a salon. It doesn’t complement the business.

The sweet thing about complementary businesses is that you can easily combine it with your studies or 9-5 jobs. You don’t need to be physically present to make your money.

4. Create Multiple Streams of Income
The top 1% of earners in any economy have multiple streams of income. Dangote has over 30 streams of income in different countries and is still diversifying. Even if 10 of those businesses fold up, he’ll still be earning in millions.

We have multiple streams of spending, it’s only logical to have multiple streams of income.

From one salary, you pay your rent, send your parents' upkeep allowance, pay your health bills, send your children to school, feed your family, buy clothes, pay electricity bills, etc. Do you now see why you’re seriously struggling? It’s not your village people and things won’t get better till you commit to doing something about it.

Apart from freelancing on Upwork, I create Upwork accounts for people and teach people how to create Upwork accounts. I also host digital training on copywriting as I earlier mentioned.
I paid someone N10,000 to set up an approved account for me, but I charge just N3,000. I also paid N30,000 to learn how to create accounts, but I could teach you for just N5,000 (offer valid for the first 10 people.) The fight is against poverty. I’ve earned more than 3 times the amount I paid to get an account and learn how to set up accounts. You can earn more than that.

Most Nigerians are living below the poverty line which is about $2 a day. That’s why Nigeria has been described as a multi-dimensionally poor country. Don’t be among those Nigerians that are described as multi-dimensionally poor. Learn a high-income skill such as copywriting today.

Business / 4 Simple Ways To Boost Sales As A Business Owner In 2020 by AmakaWrites: 3:44pm On Jan 24, 2020
Except you’re running a charity organization, the main reason you started a business is to make sales.

When you pray for your business, I’m sure your prayer point goes beyond, “God please give me customers.” You pray for lots of customers, customers that will come and clear your shop in one day. Customers that will clear your container before it even touches land (if you’re into importation).

I’m here to tell you your prayer point is valid and achievable.

Today we’ll be discussing how to boost sales using 3 strategies that have been proven to work.

1. Offer things for free

2. Survey

3. Adverts

4. Recommendations and referrals

- Free things
I know you’ll be wondering how giving things for free helps you boost sales. I’ll tell you.

This technique involves ‘deceit’ sometimes. Let’s say you sell fashion items- shoes, bags, clothes, etc. You could tell your customers, ‘buy a shoe and bag and get a shirt for free’. But the shirt isn’t free. Do you know why?

Because before giving the price of the shoe and bag, you must have added the price of the shirt to them.

Most of the ‘buy 1 get 1 free’ promo you see are not really promos.

Everybody likes free things.

But you shouldn’t always use this technique ‘deceitfully’. Sometimes give people things for free indeed, but not to the point that it affects your sale. This is where discount comes in.

Give people a discount. Let’s say you’re supposed to make a profit of N5,000. You can decide to make a profit of N4,000 instead. But as I said earlier, don’t let it affect your sales. You can do this especially when you want to do away with old stock. It’s like the clearance sales you see around.

- Survey
Survey could be in the form of questionnaires.

You write out very simple questions that should take less than 5 minutes to answer and send them out to your customers. If you’re an online store, you could do this through emails. If you’re an offline store, you could have them complete your questionnaire.

The essence of a survey is to know what your customers want.

Ask your customers what they want. You’d be surprised to find out that what you think they want isn’t what they want/like. You’d also be surprised to find out that there are other services you could be providing that could earn you money, but you’re ignorant about those services.

Make sure you collate your findings and act on them. If you don’t, it’s as good as not taking any survey at all.

- Adverts

I’m sure adverts aren’t new to us. Use adverts to promote your sales. Coca-cola is one of the biggest multi-national companies, yet they are always in your face with their adverts. Be like Coca-cola. Always be in the face of your customers and for every time you’re in their face promise them value. When they come, make sure you give them that value.

The world is noisy. If you’re quiet about your business, you won’t be heard.

The reason you should keep advertising is that many people won’t hear you the first, second or third time and unfortunately, you can’t tell which of your adverts will strike someone to buy.

There are different avenues for adverts. Find out the one that works best for you and maximize it. While maximizing that one, keep testing others too.

- Recommendation and referrals
Nothing beats this. I can't count how many times people have come to me and said, "XYZ said you're a wonderful copywriter and you helped him with his sales copy. Please help me with mine too."

But people can only refer or recommend you if what you’re offering is valuable and you’ve shown yourself capable of maintaining that standard.

If I buy something from you and I’m not satisfied with it, even if you pay me I won’t refer or recommend someone else to buy from you because if I recommend something that lacks quality it means I have poor standards, and I don’t.

So, ensure that every deal you give people has value. It will be easier for people to recommend or refer you that way.

Celebrities / Revealed! The Real Source Of Toke Makinwa’s Money by AmakaWrites: 9:10am On Dec 27, 2019
Recently, controversy has trailed how Media personality, Toke Makinwa makes her money. People have been itching to know what she does that affords her her luxurious lifestyle. Well, we decided to do some snooping around and we found out 6 ways she makes money.
1. TM Luxury Bags

Toke Makinwa launched her luxury bag line in November 2017. The vlogger leveraged on her impeccable fashion style to design bags pleasing to every bag lover. The TM Luxury Bags are sold from N35,000 and above.
2. Glow by TM

Toke has not been pretentious about how she changed from being dark-skinned to being fair-skinned. Everyone who cares to know, knows she bleached her way to fairness. She has also often expressed how much of a sucker she is for skincare products. In 2018 she launched Glow by TM which was a partnership she had with Buluwa Inc.

The skincare brand offers a wide range of face and body products for traditionally hard-to-manage skin tones. She sells them for about N45,000.
3. Book

In 2016, Toke wrote On Becoming- a book which chronicles parts of her life that we didn’t know before. The book was rated as a best-selling book and is still up for sale on different platforms such as Amazon.
4. Endorsement deals/ Brand ambassadorship

Over the years, Toke has signed different endorsement deals including Nestle Nigeria, United Africa Company in 2013 and Mecran Cosmetics in 2016. She presently has endorsement deals with Ciroc Vodka Nigeria and OPPO.

She makes millions from these deals.

5. Vlog

Toke has a vlog whereas she says, she shares a special side of herself with the world. The vlog was launched in 2012. I can’t categorically say how much she earns from vlogging, but she should.
6. Appearances

You know you’re big when people not only invite you but also pay you for coming to their event. Toke is big. Last year, she shared with her Instagram followers how much she charges to make an appearance in some events- half a million and above! That’s good money.

The media personality probably has other sources of income, but these are the ones we know of. It’s admirable how she has established her brand and continues to promote it despite the criticisms she receives for being herself. It’s something worth emulating.

Family / See How Three-year Old Girl Put Her Parents In N10,000,000 Debt! by AmakaWrites: 8:59am On Dec 27, 2019
A three-year old girl in China has put her parents in huge debt amounting to the sum of approximately 10.34 million Naira (200,000 Chinese Yuan). The little girl went with her parents, who were accompanying their friend to a car dealership centre, where she used a stone to draw into the paint of 10 new cars including an Audi Q8 which is valued at almost 25 million Naira.

It wasn’t until after the visitors left that the company discovered the damage the little girl had done to the cars.

The dealership has gone ahead to sue the parents of the girl for 200,000 Chinese Yuan, stating that the vehicles can no longer be sold as new cars due to the damages. They add that they may have to increase that amount if the vehicles are found to have depreciated after respraying.

What would you do if you were the parents of this child?

Do you think the company was harsh with the compensatory amount they asked for, considering that the girl is a small child?
Education / Great News For All LASU Students! by AmakaWrites: 8:49am On Dec 27, 2019
Studying at Lagos State University may get easier following the announcement of the state governor- Babjide Sanwo-Olu. Plans have been made and partnerships signed, for the erection of the first-ever bed-space accommodation in the school. The governor made this announcement via his Twitter handle.

This turn of event comes 36 years after Lagos State University existing as a non-residential university.

The 8,200 bed-space hostel accommodation will be built in partnership with 6 private developers and is expected to be ready for use within the next 18 months. The hostel, when completed, will accommodate 30% of the 26,000 student-population. You may argue that this is not much, but for a school that has no existing accommodation arrangements, it’s something.

Many people have reacted to this news commending the state governor for this initiative. Some alumni of the university have gone on to share their experiences living off-campus, with one recounting how his brother was shot twice during a robbery in their off-campus hostel.

Romance / 5 Best Ways To Reply 'I Love You' When Someone You Don't Love Tells You by AmakaWrites: 11:00pm On Dec 26, 2019
There are things we have no control over, such as how a person feels towards us. Heck! Sometimes we don’t even have control over our own feelings so how can we dictate how another should feel.

This brings us to our topic- How to reply to someone you don’t love when the person says, ‘I love you’.

1. Silence
Yep. Don’t reply. It will make things awkward and the person will be forced to talk to cover up for the awkwardness.

2. Thank you
Thank you is a magic word for a reason, after all. Just tell the person thank you.

3. Tell the person what you really like about the person
It could be as simple as how the person smiles or how the person smells. Just look for something admirable about the person and compliment it. It comforts the person’s ego.

4. Tell the person how you feel without hurting the person
You can say something like, “Sam, I really enjoy spending time with you, and I like you as a friend. But I don’t feel the same way you feel towards me. You’re an amazing person and I’m sorry that things will not go the way you would have loved for it to.”

5. Give some space
It could hurt the person but it’s for the best, right? The person probably started developing feelings for you because you guys spent quality time together. But try not to make the person uncomfortable when the person is around you by bringing up the subject.
If you don’t feel the same way about the person, don’t lie. Don’t ever lie to avoid creating false hope in the person’s mind.

How to Write Catchy Headlines: Get More than 100k Clicks When you Apply These Tricks

Headlines are to writers what baits are to fishermen. An unattractive bait will catch no fish. Same for headlines: an unattractive headline will catch no readers.
Unfortunately, a lot of writers do not know how important headlines are. They believe writing qualitative content is enough. But that’s not true. Writing qualitative content is vital, but it’s not enough.
Think about it.
If people don’t click, how will they read your article? How else would you get people to click if your headlines aren’t catchy?
Do you see why you should take your time in crafting attractive headlines?

For writers aware of the vitality of headlines, most face the challenge of how to come up with catchy headlines. Headlines that make people desperate/ eager to read the full article. If this is you, then this article is for you.

This article will teach you how to write headlines that convert into over a hundred thousand clicks! Good thing is, there are different ways of doing this, so your headlines don’t end up sounding monotonous.
Before we proceed, I need you to recognize that there are different types of copies, and as a result, the headline that’s applicable to one copy may not be applicable to another. However, you’ll find a workable headline guide from the tips we’ll share below.
Ladies and gentlemen, shall we.

#1
Use Numbers and Units
Numbers and measurements, like words, paint a picture in the mind of readers. They also help readers gauge the value of what they’re about to get.
If this article was titled, “How to Write A Catchy Headline In 2 Minutes.” You’ll still click because ‘2 minutes’ gives you a mental analysis of how fast you’ll become at crafting headlines.

In the same vein, if this article was titled, “How to Write A Catchy Headline In 4 Hours,” the chances of you clicking will be low because you’re looking to spend less time crafting headlines, and 4 hours is such a long time.
Use numbers and units to your advantage. It doesn’t have to be the only time.

#2
State the Benefit the Reader Will Get from Reading the Article
Research shows that people do not have the patience to read. You don’t want this to make you lose clicks. If you tell the reader, through your headlines that they stand to gain XYZ from reading your article, they’ll quickly jump on the article if they want to know or get the value your article promises.
Study the headline used for this article, for example. The benefits you’ll get off reading this article are stated
• You’ll learn how to write catchy headlines
• You’ll learn how to write catchy headlines that get you over 100k clicks!

#3
Report a Speech in Your Headline
This technique works for interviews and while reporting things people said. To get the most out of it, apply it when reporting things popular people said.
For example, if reporting an interview Alex Ferguson had, highlight (part of) something he said in the headline. This way football lovers will want to know what his complete statement was and what led to the conversation.

#4
Use Sentences That Create A State of Express Curiosity
Sentences like: You Will does not Believe What Tonto Dikeh Told Ini Edo.
Upon reading this, the reader will be desperate to know what Tonto Dikeh told Ini Edo and will click to find out more.
If you’ll adopt the example given above, ensure that the characters you mention are popular. In fact, if you’ll use someone’s name in any headline, be sure the person is popular and can easily be identified by your target audience.

#5
Tell People what to do. Include a CTA in your headline
Sometimes, people want to be told what to do. Tell them. Tell them what you want them to do. Spice it up by adding a reward to the call to action
Ex: Click here to Get the Latest Samsung Phones at the Cheapest Price
‘Click here,’ is the CTA. ‘Get the Latest Samsung Phones at the Cheapest Price,’ is the reward.

#6
Use Testimonials
If you’re selling a product or service, people will feel safer and more confident patronizing you if they’re sure the product or service will serve its use. They want to be sure it has worked for others. There’s no better way to ease their worries than the use of testimonials.
That’s why headlines such as, “How I lost 40 pounds in 2 weeks” attract clicks.

#7
How To
Headlines that teach people how to do A or B have very high click percentages, this is because most questions typed on search engines begin with ‘How to.’
Examples: How to Write Attractive Headlines
How to Write Interesting Blog Articles, etc.
From the examples given in each category, you’ll find out that most of the tips given above feature other tips as well. Let me explain.
The tip on including a CTA (call to action) features the tip on telling people the benefit they’ll gain from reading the article.
The tip on making use of testimonials features the tip on starting your headline with ‘How to’.

A powerful headline would include more than one of the tips shared above. However, this doesn’t mean you should cram all the tips into one headline.
