Hello,

Is there a way to find any info about when the next round will be in Calgary? No info of such nature on their website currently.

jesusbaby01:

Two methods..Either fill the form online and approach the embassy yourself in Ottawa or get in touch with the Nigerian Association in Calgary, you'd pay slightly higher which won't equal the cost of a plane ticket. Nigerian Association does rounds for passports and do it in batches every year.

Good day All,

I just wanted to know how to go about Nigerian passport renewal. Already applied online and paid. But it seems they randomly assign interview date. The issue now is that the date assigned is too near and flight cost from Calgary to Ottawa for that period is crazy.

Is it possible to request for another date so as to check for cheaper flights and plan better, essentially?

Are there any tips, pros and/or cons? Or is just straightforward?

How can one go about getting a visit visa for a friend (prospective partner) living in the US (finished Masters and working)?

This your response is a banger! Can we get someone to just play you guitar for life? Beautiful!

Guitarlife:

I am a bit confused by your stand in the bolded ?
1. Are you saying its okay to divorce ?
2. Are you a christian or muslim, its the holy book that says women should submit if you want to have a happy and long lasting marriage not me (Turns out the book is right as nations that have this order reversed have the highest divorce rates).
3. Each person has a choice to make, for me I have decided it is in my best interest to avoid women who want to stand up to their men. Are you saying there are no women even in the western countries who do not consider submission slavery ? Are you saying all the women abroad stand up to their men and form equality?
4. Lastly, are you inferring that the only set of women that submit are those that are financially handicapped ?
5 . I had to address the last bolded, Marriage for you may appear like an hobby or a to-do list but for some men, men like me its a lifetime commitment to support and remain faithful to one partner. Now you'd agree it will be tragic to get married to a lady who thinks she has the right to pop out of marriage at the slightest hint of unhappiness like you have posited she has a right to, ofcourse she does but I do not pray to meet such a woman in this life .
I pray for a woman who understands the sanctity of marriage and is ready to weather the storm even in those times when things will not be rosy, this is life and not a film or hollywood fantasy movie, challenges will come and such a woman with the mindset you described above will run.

Same with UK visa? Is it as straightforward as that of US, based on someone's PR status?

If not for the travel cost from Canada to the UK, I would have applied as well. grin grin grin
I got the US Visa with 10 years validity as you correctly mentioned.

Boss13:

You won’t be rejected because you are a potential Canadian PR holder. However, they will give you only 2 years. On the other hand, if you land, you get 10 years US Visa.

Same with UK visa. If you apply from Nigeria, they will give you only 6 months.

LOL. Thank you.

The "funny one" is really funny! But I understand.

Snappyfingaz:

I am guessing you're in Alberta?

What you can do is keep a clean driving record as you go forward and also get your home premium on the same plan for a discount.
Alternatively (this one is funny), you can move to Saskatchewan. Auto insurance is subsidized by the Govt. of Saskatchewan and is pretty cheap compared to other provinces. Same car you have right now might get you a monthly insurance of between $100 - $140 in SK.

Thank you for the detailed feedback.

I'll put the advice to use.

Blackbuddy:

Hi, after shopping around to find the best deal which I'd like to assume you've done, the next thing would be to ensure you keep a clean driving record. If you make no claims (and no claims are made against you as well) then your premiums ought to drop for the next insurance year.

You can also consider combining insurance plans. When I first came in, I was offered combined auto-apartment/home contents insurance package and when I compared it to having only auto insurance, the combined package was a better deal.

Ask your current insurer if they have a driving monitoring program. An example is Ajusto Program offered by The Personal Insurance in Ontario which is a usage-based insurance program that you can access directly from your smartphone to help you monitor your driving habits and save up to 25% on your auto insurance premium. There's a little gadget that they affix in your vehicle which tracks how you drive, wether you accelerate and decelerate properly, apply brakes properly and maintain safe driving speeds, wether you drive less during high peak period and at night etc. Once they see you are a low risk driver, they will reduce your premium/offer you a discount on your auto insurance premium in as little as 100 days—just by driving carefully! This is what I and my wife, some of my friends here used on our cars to bring down our premium. For my friend who has been using them for 4 years now, it's been driving down his combined insurance costs every year and keeps you motivated to be a good driver. Hope these help you out, hopefully others in Alberta can chime is as well.

Hello All,

Any idea on how one can reduce one's monthly car insurance payment?

I've been paying ~255CAD monthly and I was just wondering if I could negotiate for a review any time soon.

PS: It's a brand new car and I'm on Class 5.

Sorry to have engaged you thus far.

No point anymore.

But before I go, does your no. 1 point pertain to churches in the western world - and even Nigeria where ladies adorn trousers to church? Or is their Bible different? Or are they lesser Christians than your lot?

Then your no 2 point reeks of the gutter that made Jesus lambaste the pharisees.

PS: Do not major on the minor. Focus on what really matters!

Bye!

Shelumiel:
Of course Jesus would have sent her back . And the reason is :
1. He would have followed the scripture that said " a woman shall not put what pertains to a man on ".
2. She refused to subject herself to the authority(the church) that lords it over her .

Funny. Out of context? LOL.

What the church did is out of syllabus! Jesus did not give us that assignment.

Shalom means peace - and your Bible must have told you to follow peace with all men.

Final question: Would Jesus have sent her back?! (You cannot answer that without a mind shift.)

Shelumiel:
You are just talking out of context because of your hatred for churches who frown at women who put on trousers . Every church has its doctrine by which it operates; learn to respect and live with those doctrines . Shalom
Events / Re: Lady Sent Out Of A Church Wedding For Wearing Trousers by Ambidextrause: 7:42pm On Nov 12, 2018
What justifies a church to send anybody back - even most shamefully on the basis of wearing trousers?

Even Jesus would shake his head simply because He would not do that.

Shelumiel:
What prevented her from wearing a skirt and respecting the wishes of the church she was visiting, ehn? If the company she works for decided to tell her to wear a hat as part of its policy , would she not have done so? Mtchww. ..
Events / Re: Lady Sent Out Of A Church Wedding For Wearing Trousers by Ambidextrause: 7:36pm On Nov 12, 2018
I am not particular about the lady.
It's the thought process that termed wearing of trousers as "lawlessness" that's interesting. No excuses here, only the truth!

Shelumiel:
Read the post ; the lady said she is a Christian. So stop looking for excuses to justify lawlessness

Totally inapplicable. How did God enlist Rahab the harlot into the same family as virgin Mary - the genealogy of Jesus?

What if the church just lost a prospective member of the Jesus family by that insensitive act?

Same scenario here. So I called their office yesterday to find out what's up. The lady who spoke with me said they are currently treating profiles of those who sent in their photos in the first week of May - that they are dealing on a weekly "batch" basis. That sort of made sense because I sent my photos based on their request in the 3rd week of May. July looks highly probable, I guess.

How long does it take to get the PR card.

3 weeks ago, a little over a month of landing I was asked to send new passport photos which I did send and got to them 4 days after and til now no PR card, No update, nothing.

Is this normal?
