Last year saw the rain of prophecies from various quarters, as Apostle Joshua Suleiman’s of Omega Fire Ministry, said the former Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosu will not be reelected while governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State will move to PDP and  El-Rufai losing out in his governorship ambition in Kaduna.


Prophet Williams Onuoha of Galilee Christians and Prophet Anthony Nwoko were unanimous in their prediction of Igbo President succeeding former President Goodluck Jonathan. While the former categorically predicted the emergence of Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha as Jonathan’s successor, the latter simply foretold a Nigerian president of Igbo origin.


Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, Founder, Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), had during his New YearProphetic Message at Adoration Ground, where thousands of faithful converged for supplication on January 1, 2016, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be on his guard, prophesying that alleged beneficiaries of massive corruption perpetrated during ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration would plot to kill him, aprophecy which many dismissed and criticised.


Pastor T.B Joshua faced severe tongue-lashing after he prophesied the victory of Hilary Clinton over Donald Trump in the last US election, and that did not happen. In his reaction and defence he said the prayers of some Americans actually caused God to change the direction of the election result.

Primate Elijah Ayodele Babatunde of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, who amongst his several prophecies predicted that President Goodluck Jonathan would win the 2015 presidential election, also predicted that Governor Ahmed el- Rufai would not win the governorship election in Kaduna State last year and said Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party in the just-concluded elections in the United State will win. The latest of his prophecies is that the governors of Abia, Ebonyi, Kano, Sokoto and Taraba States will have issues with their deputies before the end of their terms in office, which has been greeted with reactions even from the deputy governors he talked about.


As the deputy governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Kelechi Igwe said in a statement issued on behalf of himself and the other deputy governors, the prophecyshould be ignored like the ones he had made before.
“We make bold to state that thisprophecy, like the ones before it, are fallacies meant to create tension, rancour and unnecessary friction in the polity. We vehemently reject this so-called prophesy, which, in our own estimation, is nothing but a figment of the imagination of the man who released it.

“We all have had and still have very good working relationship with our bosses in our various states and do not see any reason for the predicted crisis. We urge the government and the good people in our various states to ignore Primate Elijah Ayodele for he knows not what he is saying or doing.

“It was he who predicted that President Goodluck Jonathan would win the 2015 presidential election; it was he who predicted that Governor Ahmed el- Rufai would not win the governorship election in Kaduna State last year and it was the same man who recently predicted victory for Hilary Clinton, the Democratic Party candidate in the just-concluded elections in the United States,” Dr. Igwe said.

Meanwhile Dare Ajiboye, General Secretary of The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) while speaking exclusively withIndependent Sunday said fake prophecyis becoming a thing of concern in Christendom as “so-called ministers of God” keep giving fake prophecies. He said that the way to know if a prophecyis fake or not is the manifestation of it.

“To those who understand the Bible, the way to know if these people areprophets or not is when what they say does not come to pass because God cannot lie. It simply means that when aprophecy does not come to pass you question the person that prophesied.

“Some prophesy to favour the power that be so that incase the prophecycomes to pass they would be running after them. But unfortunately that should not be because prophets are meant to declare the truth of God’s words and not people trying to curry the favour of those in authority.”
On the other hand, he remarked that the manifestation of a prophecy does not make it authentic as some prophets do not prophecy with God’s spirit.

He added that it is unarguable that genuine prophets/prophetesses who hear from God and speak God’s mind do exist. He however warned people (Christians) to stop running from pillar to post in search of prophecies but should learn to hear from God themselves.

Rev. Uche Ume, President of Power World Ministries, Umuahia, while responding on the latest prediction of Primate Ayodele about the five deputy governors said that a prophecy must tally with the scripture, be edifying and comforting and not to cause confusion. Being particular about the situation in the country, he stressed that it is important that prophecies of solutions be given and not the opposite.

You guys are ignorant and aren't taking a lot of factors into consideration. Who says you must be puffed up twice the size of Ambode before you get a heart attack? You can be as slim as Obama and still have atherosclerosis. As long as you eat and leave a relatively sedentary life, you can build up atheromatous plaque in the lining of your artery. So looking fit is not a good indication.

Other footballers and athletes slumped? Yes if they were not watching their diet. If your sport involves great physical activities and you eat oily and fatty foods, you could slump. That's why top athletes, like Ronaldo, have chefs that regulate their diet.

He was playing basketball? And so what? Is it implied that he was a frequent basketball player? Is it implied that he visited the gym regular? Perhaps his friends might have said "join us this once and play basketball" and he went not knowing basket ball involves some intense activity. Haven't you seen governors play ball even though they are at risk of heart attack with their pot bellies? Does playing ball that once mean they were fit? Of course not.

We need a fitness culture in Nigeria. People focus too much on money and when you are growing fat people say that you are enjoying.
