You know you can always do it the old-fashioned way 😂

All you need to do is go to your bank branch and ask them to help you print six months of your account statements and a bank reference letter.

They can even send you a digital copy (PDF) by email if possible but I think hard copy would be better scan and use

unhindered access to a stable source of funds to support their dependents and themselves during
their proposed stay in Canada. Based on the financial documents submitted, I am not satisfied
that the applicant has sufficient funds to pay for living expenses for the proposed studies.
Weighing the factors in this application, I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at
the end of the period authorized for their stay. For the reasons above, I have refused this
application.

Except for the funds, which they stated were low.

Just a little note: If a minor is travelling with only one parent, IRCC requires:

(1) A signed and notarized letter of consent from the non-accompanying parent

(2) A copy of both parent’s passport bio page

Without these documents, the application will almost always be refused.

Maybe that part was not properly explained to them, meaning the paperwork might not have been completed correctly.

That’s good. Working both as a PSW and a Community Service Worker means you may qualify under the Healthcare and Social Services Occupations draw.

From my understanding and a bit of research:

(1) NOC 42201 – Social and community service workers
(This covers Community Service Worker roles.)

(2) NOC 33102 – Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
(This typically covers roles like Personal Support Worker (PSW), when the duties match.)

That’s a very good position to be in. It may even be better if you take your time and apply for PR for yourself and your kids that could be the best option for you. Work for at least 12 months, write the IELTS, and make sure your CRS points are high enough.

I applied for admission in December and later found out in January that I'm pregnant with EDD of September. Apparently my classes will resume in September.

Other than the option of deferring the admission, which I'm sure I'll get, what other options are available to me.

My concern is if the pregnancy will be flagged during medicals and even if it isn't, will the airline lift a heavily pregnant woman.

This one is not the regular question I see everyday but I will try from my little understanding and people can correct me if I am wrong

First of all, congratulations on both your admission and your pregnancy

we need to break your question into 3 sections and look at it from the side of someone that is new to Canada with a child

1. Medicals and pregnancy

No, pregnancy itself won’t “flag” you in a bad way.

Pregnancy is not a ground for refusal and it won’t negatively affect your application. During immigration medicals, the only difference is usually around the chest X-ray. You can either postpone it until after delivery or do it with proper shielding if you consent. Many women complete their medicals while pregnant without issues. but for school I have not seen yet mostly Visitor Visa or PR I have seen.


2. Airline travel while pregnant


Airlines generally allow travel: Up to 28 weeks with no issue or 28–36 weeks with a doctor’s note or After 36 weeks, most airlines won’t allow boarding

If your EDD is in September and classes also resume in September, you may be very close to full term. Even if an airline allows it, long-haul travel that late in pregnancy can be uncomfortable and medically risky. except you want to give birth to the child on the plan or in Canada hahahah


3. Other options besides deferring

Aside from deferring (which is honestly the safest and least stressful option), you could:

Ask your school if late arrival is possible. normally school will say max 2 weeks which is not possible as you can not leave a 2 weeks child and come to Canada to school

you can Check if any initial courses can be taken remotely.

Travel earlier (if permitted) and settle before 32–34 weeks but then you need to consider healthcare coverage and delivery costs which without a health card and maybe your school insurance would have not kicked in then is expensive $$$$$$$$$ so that’s something to think about carefully.

Cost of delivery with out insurance from school and no health card is about $17,000 CAD

In all honesty, if your start date and EDD are the same month, deferring to the next intake might give you peace of mind.

You will avoid travel stress, delivery in a new country without support, and starting classes immediately with a newborn will break you down quickly.

Sometimes when you hear information from a friend, you have to tell yourself,

“Okay, let me go and verify what I’m hearing to see if it’s actually true.”

Nine times out of ten, it’s either not true or it doesn’t paint the full picture.

Yes, 438 is a low score. However, in healthcare which your sister qualifies for it might still give her a chance.

That said, based on the recent healthcare draws we’ve seen, it likely won’t be easy.

For example, on February 14, 2024, the Healthcare occupations draw had a CRS cut-off of 422.

On October 26, 2023, the Healthcare occupations draw had a cut-off of 431.

So 438 is competitive, but it’s still not very strong, especially looking ahead to 2026/2027 trends.

Maybe her friend didn’t tell her the full picture, or maybe the friend is just being pessimistic.

That said, she should still apply for PR this year in Canada and actively look for ways to increase her CRS score.

At 438 under healthcare, she has a chance but it’s still on the lower side for healthcare draws moving forward.

but a little more than 16k would be good to have

IRCC checks the actual funds you have at the time of submitting your PR application, not the amount you initially entered in your EE profile.

As long as you actually have the minimum required funds ($16,000 CAD) when submitting your application, this is not misrepresentation.

A CRS of 434 is low, I won’t lie to you.

You mentioned a PhD, but with that PhD, you need to ask yourself: how much will your CRS score actually increase? And is the PhD in an in-demand field that could make you eligible for a category-based draw once you get a job in that area or any PNP focused on people with PhD?

Canada has over 100 universities offering master’s degrees, including MSc programs. You need to be specific about what you want and consider what life after school will look like.

Don’t just choose an MSc program anywhere or in any province. Pick a school and program that will give you better Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) options after graduation, or an MSc that aligns with in-demand fields and a job in it for Express Entry draws.

Do some research and choose the program that gives you the best opportunities..........don’t just go for anything.

If I may ask, what about your husband/ Father of the kids? That can help us understand the scenario from IRCC’s perspective.

Since you are on a temporary visa, the officer may believe that if your children come to Canada, there would be fewer ties to Nigeria. For “insufficient ties,” because your children are minors, the officer mainly assesses ties through you.

They may feel that if you do not get PR after your work permit expires, you may have little reason to return to Nigeria.

Regarding insufficient funds, bringing three children on a single income can raise concerns. Unless you are in the top income bracket ($120,000 above) supporting a family of four in Canada is expensive.

For a family of four (you + 3 children), officers may expect to see approximately $25,000–$35,000+ in available funds (depending on the province and whether tuition is involved). If you showed only $16,000 in total savings, that may have contributed to the refusal.

To strengthen a future application, you would need to clearly demonstrate that you will leave Canada if you do not obtain permanent residence when your work permit expires. Strong ties to your home country (employment prospects, property, spouse, extended family, financial commitments, etc.) can help.

It may be wise to have a professional review your case. You can search for a licensed immigration consultant in your city to properly assess your situation and advise on the best next steps.

Some people might say it is good enough, but even Visitor visa. The IRCC website’s “Apply for a Visitor Visa” page suggests providing at least six months of bank statements.

However, for a study permit, I have not seen a specific number of months officially required. That said, in good faith, the longer you can show a consistent history of funds in your account, the better picture IRCC has of your financial stability.

In my opinion and from experience, three months is not enough for Canada

maybe countries like the UK, Spain/other Schengen countries, Japan, and Switzerland. Some student visa instructions in those countries specify the last three months of bank statements showing the required funds.

For Canada, it is generally better to show more than the bare minimum required.

Remember, you are competing for one of the 155,000 study permits allocated to new international students in 2026. The remaining 253,000 permits are expected to go to current students extending their study permits.

So effectively, you are competing within that 155,000 cap unless you are applying for a master’s or PhD program.

There is a letter which is called a legal submission letter from the consultant, this letter will break everything down to the Visa officer, when he reads it he will understand what your application is all about, that helps them.
I paid in $$ good sum but I got my Visa !! 9 years..
Like I said make sure you use a consultant in Canada and a registered one who is experienced, it will save you a lot of stress , They are not cheap !! other wise if he isnt registered you will be banned for misrepresentation.
Also, try and use ChatGPT too, it helps ... What ever question you are asked, Ai will help you list the documents ...
Make sure you are genuine, NO forged documents !! otherwise if they find out , it's over..

In the history of Express Entry, STEM draws have only been conducted three times, with the last one held in April 2024.

The reduction in immigration targets announced on October 24, 2024 also explains why we haven’t seen additional STEM draws.

If you’re already in Canada, in my opinion, it’s better to forget about STEM and focus on CEC.

If you’re outside Canada, your options are quite limited unless you qualify under healthcare or French-language categories.

387 is a very low score. Even people with Canadian work experience and a master’s degree, scoring around 485, are not getting ITAs except category-based draws

Try using the CRS calculator to see what you can improve. Max out your points where possible and focus on category-based draws if you qualify.

The Provincial Nominee Program used to be a strong option, but many provinces are now reducing the number of candidates they accept, even for those already in Canada.

Your last realistic option may be to learn French. It can be challenging, but right now, those are the main pathways available.

From my understanding, if 8 months is all you have, you are technically not eligible to submit a complete PR application, even if you received an ITA. Submitting without meeting the minimum requirement can lead to refusal.

I’m looking at joining the pool and I’m not sure how to go about the job experience part. For context, I will be 29 next month, I will almost be round up my masters in the US in May. And I’m planning to take the CLEPIP exam during summer after my masters.

My main problem is the job experience part, I have always been a freelancer. I have over 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst and around 1.5years experience as a Data Scientist. My Masters is in a related field but my undergraduate degree is in Engineering.



Assuming I max out the English language points, do I have any realistic chance of getting ITA? I also have Canadian tourist visa if it matters.

The tricky part is proof. For freelance work, IRCC will want reference letters from clients (including duties, hours, duration, and pay), contracts, invoices, bank statements showing payment, and tax filings, if available.

IMO: working off-campus in the USA on a F-1 student visa without explicit, prior authorization is a severe violation of your visa status and acts as a massive red flag to IRCC

Assuming you can provide proof of your work experience and achieve maximum scores on the English exam, what is the projected CRS score you are looking at?
