FOCUS NIGERIA With Gbenga Aruleba featuring explosive reveals on Ajaokuta Steel by Barr. Natasha Akpoti and Revive Ajaokuta Convener Dr. Arome Okeme will repeat on Friday February 3 at 10.00am on AIT. Don't miss it! |
gamargu:• Beware of generalising a nation or a community or a race !! The Messenger of Allāh Ṣallallāhu-'Alaihi Wa Sallam said: “Indeed, the greatest of people in slander is the man who insults a person by criticising the whole tribe and a man who disowns his father and accuses his mother of Zinā (adultery).” ● [Sunan Ibn Mājah no. 3761, authentic as per Sh. al-Albānī] And in another narration the Messenger of Allāh Ṣallallāhu-'Alaihi Wa Sallam said: “Indeed, the greatest of criminal from the mankind is a poet who defames the whole tribe.” ● [al-Adab al-Mufrad no. 870, authentic as per Sh. al-Albānī] |
Beloved Nigerians, I believe a number of you have read this false story circulating. Well, this is expected because our AIT interview squarely hit the "untouchables". I have decided to share the link to help them out with their mischief. Truth shall remain constant. As I read the piece carefully while laughing at the numerous mistakes, I wondered "Who would be behind this? Fayemi, Obasanjo, Alhaji or Gov. Bello? Then I came across paragraph 23 of the repetitive piece...read below: " We wanted to know the real reason Natasha is blackmailing everybody in the steel sector, who is behind this her restlessness and who is paying for her travels on the matter. We wanted to know what gave her the impetus to be abusing our state governor, why she has been abusing the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland and many other leaders while campaigning and praising the so-called Russian company". Dear Governor Yahaya Bello, I hope you are well. I did make some heavy allegations against you and I do have a name and a face to it. If you feel any of my words are lies or unjust, please institute a legal action against me and I shall happily meet you in court with all of the evidences ... so many more than I have shared. Mind you, these evidences have been submitted to the security houses in Nigeria and are presently in the chambers of 5 senior lawyers all around Nigeria. This is to curb your excessive actions which you may take out of vendetta. May I remind you that we still have an open case at the Force Headquarters instituted by the former IGP Arase. The content you are very much aware of as you pleaded endlessly I end the case as you would never allow any hurt come to me and my family. Well, YOUR EXCELLENCY, I put your words to you and remind you that the judos revival of Ajaokuta and itakpe is more important than you and myself. The longest you shall stay in the corridors of power is 7 years but a fully operational Ajaokuta will last hundreds of years. President Buhari is a man I believe in and it hurts to see some members of his economic team and even state executives shy away from the vision he has for Nigeria. I don't care about APC or PDP principles, ( they are all the same) but I care about the man Buhari and just like his dear wife Hajiya Aisha cried our via BBC, his good government has indeed been hijacked by unpatriotic miscreants...who by God's special grace, will NEVER succeed. May I also use this medium to state that HRM Ado Ibrahim is a father to me and he has been of tremendous support towards the Original Builder's return. Never, did I insult his highness or mention him during the AIT's interview. Moreover, the monies used for the Ajaokuta Awareness Walk was raised by donations of passionate Nigerians through this account: Revive Ajaokuta, 0235425152 GTBank. A sum of 822,000 (eight hundred and twenty two thousand naira)was contributed and I had to cook the meal we all ate at home to save cost. This might be strange to you but honesty and patriotism is a virtue some of us still have. Finally, I received a call from Daily post that someone in your team gave them this same story to publish. I shall advice that as you send your boys with crumbs to defame me, make sure you do have every evidence of funds I received from the Vaswani brothers. This would be necessary in the lawsuit. Have a very nice evening. Barrister Natasha Akpoti |
The Ruling about having shares in companies and banks – The Permanent Committee Question: What is the ruling about having shares in companies and banks’? And is it permissible for a shareholder (in a company or a bank) to sell shares, specifically after he has become a shareholder himself, to offices dealing in buying and selling (stockbrokers)? And from that which is possible is selling them (the shares) for more than the price that the shareholder paid. So what is the ruling about the profit which the shareholder makes every year from the value of the shares bought? Response: Having shares in banks and companies that trade in ribaa is not permissible. And if the shareholder wants to rid himself of any ribaa in his shareholding, then he should sell his shares at market value and take the initial investment only. The rest he should give in charity, and it is not permissible for him to take anything from the profits of his shareholding or interest. However, if the shareholding was in a company which does not trade in ribaa, then it’s profits are halaal. And with Allaah lies all success and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions. The Permanent Committee for Islaamic Research and Fataawa, comprising – Head: Shaykh ‘Abdul ‘Azeez ibn Abdullaah ibn Baaz; Member: ‘Abdullaah ibn Ghudayyaan; Member: Shaykh ‘Abdullaah Ibn Qu’ood Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa.imah lil-Buhooth al-‘Ilmiyyah wal-Iftaa. – Volume 13, Page 508, Fatwa No.8996 |
Engr James Ismaila: REVIVAL OF AJAOKUTA STEEL COMPANY IS THE ANSWER TO THE PRESENT MENACE OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND LOW STANDARD OF LIVING IN NIGERIA. PART 1. Great compatriots, I count it a great honor and a rear privilege to use this medium to express my feelings concerning our age long abandoned company- Ajaokuta Steel Company Nigeria Limited. According to her vision statement, the company was established for the “Production of quality steel and steel products for the industrialization of Nigeria while meeting all standards” After many years, the company cannot boast of meeting up to 10% of her vision. In my own view as a Metallurgist, I believe that the reason why many Nigerians decide to keep mute on the passive status of AJASTEEL, is because they know little about the inherent benefits which everyone stands to enjoy once the Company swings into action. Revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company has the capacity to industrialize the whole Nigeria. Did you say really? Yes! The whole Nigeria will be industrialized. Quickly read through this page to know the rationale behind my assertion. Ajaokuta Steel Company is primarily an Iron and Steel production company. Iron and Steel are produced through blast furnace reduction of Iron ore. During the production processes, raw materials like Iron ore(Haematite or Magnitite), Limestone and Coke are charged into the blast furnace to obtain Pig iron, sludge and other bye products. Raw materials like Limestone, Coke and Iron ore are mineral resources which are found in abundance in Nigeria. The revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company will awaken the dead Enugu Coal Production plant. This is because Coke is obtained from coal through destructive distillation process. Also, limestone has been discovered to be deposited in large quantity in various states within the four geographic locations in Nigeria i.e Abia, Ondo, Borno, akwa ibom e.t.c. The Revival of the Steel plant will also create great market for the raw material ( limestone) which is still wasting at the moment in their various locations. Iron ores are also deposited in large quantity in various states in Nigeria, another employment opportunity and great source of revenue. Ajaokuta Steel Company Nigeria Limited by design, is to produce per year: 48,000 tonnes of tar: This can be used for road construction 210,240,000cm3 of Coke oven gas : It can be used as source of fuel 350,000 tonnes of steam : Useful in food industry, textile industry, Power generation e.t.c 12,000 tonnes of Ammonium Sulpahate (fertilizer) : For food production Billet mill (BM), Medium Section and Structural Mill (MSSM), Finishing Mill (FM): All these are useful in engineering constructions. In addition, blast furnace is designed to run for a period of at least ten (10) years, before it can be switched off for routine maintenance like replacement of its lining bricks. This simply means that Nigeria will experience an uninterrupted power supply for ten (10) years. Yes ten years. It is possible! The refractory bricks of the Blast furnace are made from Alumino Silicate clay. Alumino Silicate Clay is readily available in large quantity in many state of the Federation. Your guess is as good as mine. That is more job opportunities. There are many other benefits that are inherent in the revival of Ajaokuta Steel Project, but time will not permit me to go further. Join us in rendering your VOICE to the revival of this GREAT project, for us and the future of our children yet unborn. Revival of AJASTEEL is going to mark the end of recession, hunger and other negative social vices in Nigeria. LONG LIVE NIGERIA, LONG LIVE AJAOKUTA STEEL COMPANY, SHORT LIVE RECESSION, SHORT LIVE UNEMPLOYMENT. |

By Rafiu Ajakaye LAGOS, Nigeria Nigerian police have arrested 10 people for allegedly publishing and circulating a secessionist tabloid, Biafra Times. Biafra refers to the secessionist bid of the Igbo ethnic group of Nigeria’s southeastern region. “The printing press has been shut down and the environment is being monitored. This is an offense punishable under the Criminal Law of Lagos State,” Lagos Police Commissioner Fatai Owoseni told reporters in southwestern Lagos Monday. Owoseni called the publication “seditious and malicious” and said the suspects would face charges in court. Peter Eke, publisher of the tabloid, denied being a member of any secessionist movement. “I decided to specialize in the Biafra Times when I discovered it is always a sellout anytime we published stories about the eastern parts of the country,” he said as police paraded him and the nine other suspects. “We usually print about 5,000 copies,” he added. Agitations over Biafra, a secessionist state that was the cause of a 30-month civil war in 1967, have risen in recent months. Its main proponent, Nnamdi Kanu, is being tried for treason and leading an unlawful organization -- the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a secessionist movement. http://aa.com.tr/en/africa/nigeria-10-held-over-pro-secessionist-biafra-tabloid/738086 |
FG Urged To Revive Ajaokuta
Steel

A nongovernmental organization, Ajaokuta/
Itakpe Revival Movement (ARM), a
component of the Nigeria Alliance for
Industrial Revolution and Advancement
(NAIRA) has called on the federal
government to as a matter of urgency
revive Ajaokuta/Itakpe Iron Ore and Steel
Plants.
Speaking to journalist shortly after an
awareness walk not a protest against the
government but, rather a campaign to draw
the attention of Nigerians and the federal
government to issues as well as the gains
of completing the Ajaokuta/Itakpe Iron Ore
and Steel Plants, the convener, NAIRA, Dr.
Okeme Arome called on President
Muhammadu Buhari to handle all
businesses relating to the steel plants as a
way of cutting out the cabal, bureaucratic
bottleneck and also getting firsthand
information on the processes and
procedures involved in its revival.
Arome urged President Buhari to set up a
high powered delegation to meet with the
President of Russia, Vladimir Putin to open
bilateral talks that include finding ways of
bringing back TyazhPromExport (TPE), the
original builders of the plant to complete
the remaining two per cent for the plant’s
take off.
Arome also urged the federal government to
facilitate royalties and compensation for the
community that houses the steel plant,
including families of those who lost their
lives in a genuine cause of fighting
patriotically for the protection of our
national interest during the Ogaminana
Massacre of 2008.
‘’We urge President Buhari to terminate
forthwith any agreement with Global
Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (GINL), and
that the company be declared Persona non
grata in Nigeria. If achieved, these
objectives will no doubt start the
conversation to bring Nigeria close to
becoming a major player in the
industrialized world, a vision that should be
shared by all Nigerians,’’ he added. ...Culled from LEADERSHIP NEWS PAPER. |
By Syed Rashid Husain PRESIDENT Donald Trump has opened a Pandora box. While addressing the intelligence community in Washington DC, a day after swearing in, the president said: “We should’ve kept the oil when we got out of Iraq”, regretting the slip, he then said, “OK, maybe we’ll have another chance.” This is dangerous. To say the US may “have another chance” to seize oil in Iraq suggests Trump doesn’t understand the risks of war or the damage such statements could do to the global standing of the US. Later, in an interview with ABC, he emphasized “to the victor belong the spoils. And you know, it’s very interesting, had we taken the oil, you wouldn’t have ISIS (today) because they fuel themselves with the oil. That’s where they got the money. They got the money […] when we left, we left Iraq, which wasn’t a government. With the US budget drained by its involvement in the wars in the Middle East, Trump went on to add another dimension to the debate. “If we took the oil you wouldn’t have ISIS (today). And we would have had wealth. We have spent right now $6 trillion in the Middle East. And our country is falling apart.” When asked by the news anchor whether he plans to fix that mistake and claim Iraq’s oil, the president said he would rather not give away his military plans. Clarifying the scenario later, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer stressed the economic argument behind Trump’s statement. “We’re going into a country for a cause. Trump wants to be sure America is getting something out of it for the commitment and sacrifice it is making.” The statement by the president, however, ignores history. The US still has troops in Germany and Japan but did not take into possession their natural resources. And mind it, taking Iraq’s reserves, the world’s fifth largest could never have been a walkover. It required an immense investment of resources and manpower in a country that the United States couldn’t quell after spending more than $2 trillion and deploying at one point more than 170,000 troops. Trump statement brought about a sharp response from both, the Iraq leadership and the common man on the streets of Iraq. Iraq’s oil is the property of Iraqis, Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi said last Tuesday. “It wasn’t clear what he meant,” Abadi added. “Did he mean in 2003 or to prevent the terrorists from seizing Iraq’s oil?” Trump words shook common Iraqis too. BuzzFeed News quoted a 27-year-old, Iraqi security official as saying: “We kept our ammunition and weapons from the time the Americans left, for fighting ISIS. But once ISIS is gone, we will save our weapons for the Americans.” This debate is not new – and I stand a witness to it. The Iraq war is for oil, many argued then. “Though most Americans don’t believe this war is about oil, much of the rest of the world does,” Steven Clemmens wrote in The New York Times on April 9, 2003, the same day US troops helped topple a giant statue of former Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein. All this was not without a basis. Even people in Washington, commonly referred to as part of the establishment have been conceding the role of oil in the Iraq (mis)adventure. Washington insider, the former US Federal Reserve chairman,Alan Greenspan in his 2007 memoirs ‘The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World’, concedes “I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil.” The commander of the US CENTCOM during the Iraq War, General John Abizaid, too agreed in a BBC commentary: “Of course [the Iraq war] is about oil, we can’t deny that.” Writing for The Guardian on the 11th anniversary of the 2003 Iraq war, Dr. Nafeez Ahmed too underlined: “So Saddam’s WMD was not really the issue (behind the Gulf war) – and neither was Saddam himself. The real issue, he argued is candidly described in a 2001 report on “energy security” – commissioned by then US Vice-President Dick Cheney and published by the Council on Foreign Relations and the James Baker Institute for Public Policy.” The paper warned of an impending global energy crisis that would increase “The US and global vulnerability to disruption”, and leave the US facing “unprecedented energy price volatility.” Dr. Ahmed then argues, Iraq appeared as the answer to the US woes and hence the invasion was planned. “Eleven years on, there should be no doubt that the 2003 Iraq War was among the first major resource wars of the 21st century. It is unlikely to be the last,” Dr. Ahmed underlined. And he has a point. Before the 2003 invasion, Iraq’s domestic oil industry was fully nationalized and closed to Western oil companies. Some 13 years later, it is largely privatized and utterly dominated by foreign firms. From ExxonMobil and Chevron to BP and Shell, the West’s largest oil companies have set up shop in Iraq. The objective seems to have been achieved. And who knows in better than Rex Tillerson, the new Secretary of State. All this is not out of blue. Even in 1973, when the Arab world used oil as a strategic weapon against the west for siding with Israel, Washington considered taking over Arab oil fields. British government documents declassified in 2004 reveal that the United States had considered a military seizure of Middle Eastern oil. Though no explicit military plan was mentioned, but the documents do show that British leaders were worried by a conversation between US Secretary of Defense James Schlesinger and Lord Cromer, the British ambassador to the United States. Schlesinger told Cromer then, “It was no longer obvious to him that the US could not use force.” British Prime Minister Edward Heath too was worried by Schlesinger’s tough talk, as well as hints of military action from the then Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. A British intelligence report then concluded that the United States “might consider it could not tolerate a situation in which the US and its allies were at the mercy of a small group of unreasonable countries. We believe the American preference would be for a rapid operation conducted by themselves to seize (Arab) oilfields.” However, the report warned that “the American occupation would need to last 10 years as the West developed alternative energy sources, and would result in the ‘total alienation’ of the Arabs and much of the rest of the Third World.” British analysts also worried about the Soviet reaction, though they concluded that Moscow would be more likely to respond with propaganda than force. America could have seized the oil fields with little problem, the reports underlined. President Trump is now reigniting those fears. And these carry grave consequences – one could say with some certainty. Geopolitics is up in the air. Is the newly elected president aware of those – still remains to be seen? http://saudigazette.com.sa/opinion/energy-outlook/trumps-remarks-draw-eerie-feeling/ |

A slave or a Saint? Ajaokuta Revival, a clarion call! I bring you greetings once more in the name of struggle. Focusing on the dreams of tomorrow and forgetting the history of the past is profitable and conservative in achieving our goal(s) but reminiscing on the past history put us on track and safe us from such quagmire. I have an uncle that was giving a brand new Peugeot 504 upon obtaining his Bachelor in Education (geography) from ABU. I have a neighbour that turned 'free education' in their time into a song for my hearing. Our roads, institutions and refineries were constructed and built with agricultural produce but today, farmers are far less valued than bush animals in the hands of Herdsmen. They know you are not safe in the farm, yet they told you to go into agriculture. They refused to fund education so you can graduate as 'half baked' They have bogus salary and allowances, go on vacation overseas, bought most expensive and exotic cars for themselves and family members yet they told your parents no money to pay salary or declared them ghost workers. You sing their praises, massage their ego for using tax payers money. Oh no, may be you think they are saint, you are no different from a slave. Wake up from your slumber. How long? Again I ask how long? They promised jobs just to win your vote! You were fooled! Do you care to ask were is/are the industries? Initiating and fueling ethno- religious crisis and recruit you in force(s) and use you as a willing tools is not a help. If you think is a help, wake-up. Ajaokuta steel company have the potential to employe you if fully operational but you know what? It was abandoned so you will continue to be a slave to them and their children. You think they are saint? Sorry you are just been deceived! Remove that veil, shake that dust off you neck and break that yoke of slavery. It is not too late a time to start. Be a saviour by resistantly refuse slavery. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Let's come together and constitute a strong tide of resistance against this governmental tyranny. Hope rises, freedom knock and greatness is at sight if we can damn the consequences and turn the tide of continuous slavery. How long will you continue to serve your slave Master? Join Ajaokuta Revival Now! Don't just be a history reader, Be part of history maker. ...............Comr. Pharm Wada Success |
ArabMopol:Ndi IpoD go and get real education. |
ArabMopol:Ndi IpoD my tribe is not Yoruba go and cure your ignorance sha. Stop behaving like an osunized individual I.e a slave |
ArabMopol:Nairaland is not my only source of information in this globalization era only an unserious minded person will rely on Nairaland alone for credible information. As for your ilk you really on beer parlour gossips to feed your ego and ignorance. Now walk away Ndi IpoD |
ArabMopol:Upgrade your memory capacity so as to have more space to learn something new. Okorocha was right after all. |
ArabMopol:To an ignoramus like you once a person exposes your ignorance and uncouth behaviour then you start screaming Afonja because that's the only thing ur 1bit brain can carry. Let me there are like 500 ethnic groups in this country and you're very likely to have a representative from each group here on Nairaland, so Nairaland is not for the 3 major tribes alone. Let me school Ndi IpoD Ajaokuta Steel Company is located at Ajaokuta Town in Kogi State North-Central Nigeria. If FG can somehow get the Company working alongside Delta Steel then our Industrialization dream will become a reality and there will be no forex shortage. |
ArabMopol:What can one expect from an empty barrel IpoD yewt except loud noise with no substance. If you call Ajaokuta a village I won't blame because it was said about 75% IpOD yewts don't read news or watch news. Na ur type Naija politicians dey rape and u go still dey thank dem for a job well done. #ReviveAjaokutaSteel |
Truth234:I'm quite impressed with your submission and some of the FG's policies on economic diversification, but my fear is how sustainable it is considering the Nigerian factor which can often prove destructive. Take for instance we need oil money to diversify our ailing economy but there's growing unrest in the oil producing region? |
Epitome of get rich or die trying syndrome. Meanwhile, #ReviveAjaokuta |
ArabMopol:You no dey tire with dis ur dullard chants? Meanwhile, all I'm saying is that we should join the #ReviveAjaokuta movement for a better Nigeria oya come follow me. |
God bless Nigeria and Nigerians.
#ReviveAjaokuta |
Truth234:Thanks. I have another question what's the long-term solution to this? |
We are just one foolish Nation wallahi! You see the Indians doctored the settlement out of court and grab the most potent aspect of our steel dreams, the raw materials at itakpe in the guise of making their $525m which they claimed the pumped into our steel sector back. Nothing on ground or abroad verified their claims but because they had government conspirators and accomplices who are presently enjoying from this treacherous, unpatroitic, treasonable arrangements, they are still holding us by the balls. They are comfortably mining our iron ores with no resistance whatsoever! I think they say wisdom comes with old age, why are our leaders not wise enough then? For how long will they continue this mining and depleting of our natural reserves? A day they spend there, they would work their heads out just to scoop as much as they can seeing that they have gotten Nigeria by the whiskers and knowing fully well that one day we would arise from our slumber and they would be kicked out. So they would work tirelessly before that day. We need to arise today! The time was yesterday but we can still salvage it today. Are we are angry enough?! |
@OP forgive my ignorance but why can't we have a single exchange rate instead of these numerous ones? |
The revolt of Saeed bin Jubayr against al-Hajjaaj. Question: Some people are very relaxed with regard to revolt against the rulers. They use as a proof that which occurred at the time of al-Hajjaaj and those who rebelled against him, at the head of them Saeed bin Jubayr (may Allaah have mercy upon him). So what is the response to this point? Answer: This speech is totally baseless and rubbish. The Muslims have never ceased to cling to hearing and obeying (the rulers), even if some differences occurred in some periods of time. However the majority of the Muslims have stuck to hearing and obeying. And if there occurred from some of them differences or errors, then they would reject it. And Saeed bin Jubayr (may Allaah have mercy upon him) was from imaams of the Taabi’een and he was unjustly killed, and even if he did rebel then this is something that is not agreed with. Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan Al-Ijaabaat al-Muhimmah fee Mashaakil il-Mudlahimmah” by Muhammad bin Fahad al-Husayn Translated by Abul-Irbaad Abid Zargar Source; http://www.salafitalk.net ________ Concerning Correction of the Rulers Imaam Barbahaaree on the Manhaj of Dealing With the Rulers Author: Prepared by Abu Talhah and Abu Iyaad Source: The Creed of Imaam Bukhaaree /Explanation of the Creed Article ID : MNJ160002 Imaam al-Barbahaaree رﺣﻤﻪ اﻟﻠﻪ said: "And that we do not contend with or attempt to take away the command from those assigned with it (i.e., the rulers) due to the saying of the Messenger: "There are three things towards which the heart of a Muslim never shows hatred or rancour: 1. Making ones action sincerely for the sake of Allaah, 2. Giving obedience to the rulers (wulatul-amr) and 3. Sticking to the group (jamaa'ah) for verily, their supplication encompasses those who are behind them (i.e. those whom they rule over)." [2] This is confirmed in His saying: "O you who believe! Obey Allaah and obey the Messenger, and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority". [an-Nisaa (4):59] And that the sword is not to be raised against (any of) the Ummah of Muhammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam). And al-Fudayl said, "If I had a supplication that would be answered, I would not make it except for the leader (imaam) because when the leader becomes righteous, the towns and servants become safe and secure." [End of the words of Bukhaaree] Imaam al-Barbahaaree (d. 329H) also said, "Whoever rebels against a Muslim ruler is one of the Khawaarij, has caused dissent within the Muslims, has contradicted the narrations and has died the death of the days of ignorance." (Sharhus-Sunnah [p.42]) The Khawaarij are a group who first appeared in the time of 'Alee. They split from his army and began the grave innovation of takfeer (declaring Muslims, rulers or the ruled, in their view guilty of major sins, to be unbelievers). The Prophet s warned against them in many authentic ahaadeeth, "They are the dogs of Hellfire" [3]. He also informed us that they would continue to appear until the end of this world, saying, "A group will appear reciting the Qur'aan, it will not pass beyond their throats, every time a group appears it will be cut off, until the Dajjaal appears within them." [4] Imaam Al-Barbahaaree (d.329H) also said, "It is not permissible to fight the ruler or rebel against him even if he oppresses. This is due to the saying of the Messenger of Allaah to Aboo Dharr al-Ghifaaree, "Have patience even if he is an Abyssinian slave," [5] and his saying to the Ansaar, "Have patience until you meet me at the Pool," (reported by Bukharee from Usayd ibn Hudayr). There is no fighting against the ruler in the Sunnah. It causes destruction of the Religion and the worldy affairs." Sharh-us-Sunnah, (p. 43). Abu Bakr al-Aajurree (d.360H) said in ash-Sharee'ah (p. 28), "It is not fitting for the one who sees the uprising of a khaarijee who has revolted against the Imaam, whether he is just or oppressive - so this person has revolted and gathered a group behind him, has pulled out his sword and has made lawful the killing of Muslims - it is not fitting for the one who sees this, that he becomes deceived by this person's recitation of the Qur'aan, the length of his standing in the prayer, nor his constant fasting or his good and excellent words in knowledge when (it is clear to him that) this person's way and methodology (madhhab) is that of the Khawaarij." And Ibn al-Qayyim (d.751H) said in Miftaah Daaris-Sa'aadah (1/119), "And as for Imaam Maalik, then Ibn al-Qaasim said, "I heard Maalik say, "Indeed there are a people who desire worship but squander the knowledge (being deprived of it) so they revolt against the Ummah of Muhammad with their swords. And if they had followed the knowledge, then it would have prevented them from doing that." It is authentically reported from the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) in the hadeeth of 'Iyaad ibn Ghunum who said, "The Messenger of Allaah s said, "Whoever desires to advise the one with authority then he should not do so openly, rather he should take him by the hand and take him into seclusion (and then advise him). And if he accepts (the advice) from him then (he has achieved his objective) and if not, then he has fulfilled that which was a duty upon him." [7] Reported by Ahmad (3/403) and Ibn Abee 'Aasim (2/521) with a saheeh isnaad. And it is also related by Ibn Sa'ad in Tabaqaatul-Kubraa (7/163-165): A group of Muslims came to al-Hasan al-Basree (d.110H) seeking a verdict to rebel against al-Hajjaaj [8]. So they said, "O Aboo Sa'eed! What do you say about fighting this oppressor who has unlawfully spilt blood and unlawfully taken wealth and did this and that?" So al-Hasan said, "I hold that he should not be fought. If this is the punishment from Allah, then you will not be able to remove it with your swords. If this is a trial from Allaah, then be patient until Allaah's judgment comes, and He is the best of judges." So they left al-Hasan, disagreed with him and rebelled against al-Hajjaaj - so al-Hajjaaj killed them all. [9] About them al-Hasan used to say, "If the people had patience, when they were being tested by their unjust ruler, it will not be long before Allaah will give them a way out. However, they always rush for their swords, so they are left to their swords. By Allaah! Not even for a single day did they bring about any good." NOTES 1. When changing the evil of the rulers, then this should be done by the scholars and not openly as is mentioned by a clear hadeeth of the Prophet, "When you wish to correct the sultan then take him by the hand in secret and advise him." [Aquidah at-Tahawiyah] 8. He was ath-Thaqafee, and is well known. Adh-Dhahabee said in Siyar A'laam in-Nubalaa (4/343) at the end of his biography, "We revile him and do not love him, rather we hate him for Allaah. He had some some good deed, but they are drowned in the ocean of his sins, and his affair is for Allaah!" _____ Affairs of Aqeedah » Imam Ahmad a good example of implementing the Sunnah over desires Imam Ahmad a good example of implementing the Sunnah over desires book mark this topic Printer-friendly Version send this discussion to a friend new posts last Imam Ahmad a good example of implementing the Sunnah over desires The following is from Shaikh Jamaal Al-Haarithee from his comments on Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan's Beneficial Answers to Questions on Innovated Methodologies (hafidhahumullaah): It is reported in the book as-Sunnah of Ibn Abee 'Aasim (2/351), al-Mustadrak of Al-Haakim (3/290) and the Musnad of Imaam Ahmad (3/404) from the narration of 'Iyyaad bin Ghanam that the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) said: "Whoever has some advice for the leader should not speak it out in public. Rather, he should take his hand and sit with him in privacy. So if he [the ruler] accepts it, then he accepts it, and if he doesn't, then he [the advisor] has performed what is required of him and what is for him." The wording of this hadeeth is from Al-Haakim, and it is a sound hadeeth. Look at the example of the Imaam of Ahlus Sunnah, Ahmad ibn Hanbal (rahimahullaah). He was beaten with a whip, dragged on the floor, and imprisoned due to the [the deviants' claim] of the Qur`an being created. But in spite of this, he would refer to him [the ruler] as the "Commander of the Believers" and tell the people: "Do not rebel (against the leader); be patient." Don't we have a good example in our righteous predecessors? Or is it that we are more knowledgeable and braver than them?! Imam Ibn Rajab al-Hanbalee (rahimahullaah) said in his book Jaami'ul-'Uloom wal Hikam (pg. 113): "Sincere Advice to the Muslim leaders means cooperating with them upon the truth, obeying them, reminding them, cautioning them with gentleness and ease, preventing an uprise against them, and supplicating for them to be guided." Imaam Ash-Shawkaanee said in his book Raf'-ul-Asaateen fee Hukm-il-Ittisaal bis-Salaateen (pg. 81-82): "It is well established in the Mighty Book (Qur`an) that we are commanded to obey the ruler. Allaah put obeying the rulers after obeying Him and obeying the Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam). There are many ahaadeeth in the purified Sunnah, i.e. the main collections, and other books that state that it is obligatory to obey them [the rulers] and to be patient with their oppression. One of the ahaadeeth in which the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) commanded us to obey them [the rulers] consists of the words: '...even if he beats your back and takes your money.' It is also authentically reported on him (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) that he said: 'Give them what they are entitled to (of rights), and ask Allaah for what you are entitled to (of rights).'" Comparing Manhaj, Characteristics of the Salaf concerning the Rulers - oppressive or just -Verses Manhaj, Characteristics of people of Bid'ah concerning the Rulers and the evil of revolting Point 135 of Imam Barbaharee's Sharh-us-Sunnah: Know that a ruler's oppression does not reduce or remove anything which Allaah has made obligatory upon the tongue of the Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). His [the ruler's] oppression is upon himself. Your acts of obedience and good deeds along with behaving well towards him are complete, if Allaah - the Most High - wills. Accompany them in all acts of obedience such as the congregational and Jumu'ah prayers, for you have your independent intention in that. 1 Shaikh Muhammad bin Ramzaan Al-Haajiree (hafidhahullaah), in his highly beneficial sharh of Sharh-us-Sunnah, said: quote: And this is the position of Ahlus-Sunnah. The ruler will be held accountable for his oppression; it will be against him. But the mercy is general. If this ruler has mistakes, or he oppresses, or he's doing something wrong, this is against him. But if people were to revolt against the ruler, then what will result from this revolt would affect everyone, not just the ruler. His oppression will only affect him, but the revolt against the ruler will affect everyone - the general population. Will the revolt affect the general population or just the ruler? [The general population!] Would you like an example? [Yes!] An old example, or a new example? From [past] history or from something that you yourselves have witnessed? Somalia. The example of Somalia. The believer is not happy with the situation in Somalia. The previous ruler was an oppressor and he died. Was the oppression in his time worse, or the situation they are in now? The people probably wish day and night that they could return to that oppressive ruler. And because of this, the Salaf said: 60 years under an oppressive ruler is better than one night with the fitnah that is continuous. Another example is Saddam Hussein in 'Iraq. Saddam Hussein's rulership is well known. No details are necessary to explain what his oppression was like. But is the situation today like the situation in Saddam's time? Answer, o people of intellect. Allaahul Musta'aan. (Allaah's Help is sought!) An example from history is what happened during the killing of 'Uthman bin 'Affaan (radiallaahu 'anhu). They accused him of whatever they accused him of, and they were lying in terms of their accusations. However, what they wanted - in reality - was wealth. And the proof of that is that when they killed him, they went straight to Baitul-Maal (the general treasury). And if they truly intended Deen [the face of Allaah], the first place they would have gone to would have been the masjid. And if they wanted the religion or Allaah's face, they wouldn't have killed 'Uthman. Do you want another example? The killing of 'Alee ibn Abi Talib (radiallaahu 'anhu). What happened when they killed 'Alee. Did they want Islaam to be raised? This ['Alee] is a person who was promised and given glad tidings of Jannah. And like this in every age. We ask Allaah to rectify our matters. Point 136 of Imam Barbaharee's Sharh-us-Sunnah: If you find a man making supplication against the ruler, know that he is a person of bid'ah. If you find a man making supplication for the ruler to be upright, know that he is a person of the Sunnah, if Allaah wills. Fudayl ibn 'Iyaad 2 said, "If I had an invocation (du'aa) which was to be answered, I would not make it except for the ruler." It was said to him, "O Abu 'Alee, explain that to us." He replied, "If I made an invocation (du'aa) for myself, it would not go beyond me. Whereas if I make it for the ruler, he is corrected and throught that, the servants and the land are set in order.3 We are ordered to make supplication (du'aa) for them (i.e, the rulers) to be upright. We have not been ordered to make supplication against them, even if they commit tyranny and oppression, since their tyranny and oppression reflect only upon themselves but their rectitude is good for themselves and the Muslims. Shaikh Muhammad bin Ramzaan Al-Haajiree (hafidhahullaah) [url=http://ahlussunnahaudio .com/en/sharhsunna.html]said[/url]: quote: This should be highlighted. This is an exposing characteristic. So any person you find cursing or disparaging the ruler, know that he is not a good person [not upright]. This person should make a du'aa for the ruler. Why would a person make a du'aa against the ruler? If you make a du'aa for the ruler, then the people would become upright. And if you make a du'aa against him, wouldn't the situation become worse? So from the signs of Ahlus-Sunnah is that they make du'aa FOR the rulers, and the from the signs of Ahlul Bid'ah is they make du'aa AGAINST the rulers. And then the author [Imam Barbaharee] gave an example that was related by al-Fudayl and also by Imam Ahmad (rahimahumullaah). And this was related from Imam Ahmad even though the ruler of his time oppressed him and beat him and tortured him. However, Imam Ahmad's outlook was the outlook of the Ummah - not for retribution, or revenge. Rather, he gave precedence to the outlook of the overall general population over letting out his own anger. _____________________________________________ __________________ The following is from SayingsoftheSalaf: quote: Abul-Haarith Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Saa'igh, the close and respected friend of Imam Ahmad, reported: quote: I asked Abu 'Abdillaah (Imam Ahmad) about something that had occurred in Baghdad, and [because of which] some people were considering revolting [against the ruler]. I said, "O Abu 'Abdillaah, what do you say about taking part in the revolt with these people?" He decried it and started saying, "Subhanallaah! The blood [of the people], the blood [of the people]! I do not believe in this and I do not tell others to do it. For us to suffer our situation in patience is better than the fitnah (tribulation) in which blood is spilt, property is taken, and the prohibited are violated (e.g. the honor of women). Do you not know what happened to the people (in the days of the previous fitnah)?" I said, "And the people today, Abu 'Abdillaah, are they not in fitnah [because of the ruler]?" He replied, "If so, it is a limited fitnah, but if the sword is raised, the fitnah will engulf everything and there will be no way to escape. To suffer patiently this [current difficulty], such that Allaah keeps your religion safe for you, is better for you." I saw him decry revolting against the leaders, and say, "[Do not spill the people's] blood. I do not believe in this and I do not command it." Abu Bakr Al-Khallaaal, Al-Sunnah article 89. FootNotes from The Creed: 1. Shaik ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said in Majmoo' al-Fataawa (22/61): "The rulers are not to be fought due to committing sins. Even though a person may be killed for some sins, such as adultery and the like. However, it is not permitted to fight the rulers for doing such things for which a person may be killed, since the corruption caused by this fighting is far greater than the corruption of a major sin committed by the ruler." 2. Al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyaad ibn Mas'ood, Shaikh us-Islaam, Abu 'Alee, al-Yarboo'ee, al-Khursaanee. He was born in Samarqand and grew up to be a highway robber. However, his heart was moved upon hearing the Qur`an recited and he repented and then teavelled in search of knowledge to Koofah, eventually settling in Makkah. Some of his students were Ibn al-Mubaarak, Yahya al-Qattaan, 'Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Mahdee, 'Abdur-Razzaq, ash-Shafi'ee and Qutaibah ibn Sa'eed. Ibn al-Mubaarak said, "No one better than Fudayl ibn 'Iyaad remains upon the face of the earth." Haroon ar-Rasheed said, "I have not seen any scholar with greater dignity than Maalik, nor anyone more pious than al-Fudayl." As-Siyar (8/421-441) and Tadhkiratul-Huffaadh (1/245-246) of adh-Dhahabee. 3. This narration is reported by Abu Nu'aym in al-Hilyah (8/91) with a saheeh isnaad and by al-Khallaal in as-Sunnah (no. 9). Source - http://www.salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=8&Topic=9719 |
Good day great minds. Today we shall storm Facebook just as we did on twitter yesterday and believe me the effect was imposing. So we shall make our mark today on Facebook. Let's make a little noise with social media as we prepare for the protest march. Today we shall be making use of the hashtag (#) and the Facebook tag (though it doesn't work for all). We shall send some images later for which we are all required to post with an accompanying article (bothering on the resuscitation and revival of Ajaokuta). Now the idea is to precede every keyword in your article with the # sign. For example: words like; #industry, #industrialization, #economy, #nigeria, #ajaokuta, #iron-ore, #Itakpe, #kogi etc. The need for this is to allow indexing, and that way your posts can easily be discovered through Facebook search. And for names mentioned on your post you could tag them up so that they can also get the post on their timelines. I am sure we all know how tagging works on FB. I do hope we all understand this. The time is 4pm to 6pm. If you can't write a post you may visit our fb page and share every post you find there regarding the steel plant. https://www.facebook.com/ReviveAjaokuta/ Thank you. *TO EVERY NIGERIAN YOUTH WHO DOESN'T FEEL MOTIVATED* There is no sacrifice too big for a project such as that bordering around the resuscitation of Ajaokuta steel company, Nigeria's key to industrialization. If we have decided to be a part of this Noble course it means we have completely and diametrically agreed to carry whatever cross it comes with, no matter how heavy. This we do with the consciousness that the road will be tough and tortuous, many may be discouraged and consider throwing in the towel, many may think it a wild goose chase or building castles in the air. But let me tell you something, nothing good has ever come easy. America is great right? She got independent from the same colonial master as us. You envy her land right? They were as messy, bushy, rocky, irregular as ours. She has had her own fair share of corruption and mismanagement, her own fair share of wars and civil disturbance, but today she stands as the most developed in the world. Let's come a little closer home- Dubai. Dubai was a desert about 30years ago. They were then merchants, trading mostly in corals, but today they are the number one tourist destination in the world scooping well over $6b in just tourism alone. We wish to spend holidays there, don't we? There are 5 structures one sees outside the ionosphere when one looks down on earth, Dubai has 2 of these structures, America has one and China has another. All these people had one thing in common- the character. They possessed the character, the zeal and resolution to change. To use their resources to make life's stress a little easier to bear. They were united as we appear to be today. They were goal driven as we are today. They were motivated as we claim to be today. They were willing to sacrifice as we have promised to today. They had the bad guys too, they had the rich bad guys that were all about their immediate gains but they didn't let that bother them, they fended for themselves without resorting to these big rich guys by believing in their abilities and capacity, and they boycotted these bad guys to be what they are today. A Lot of them that fought valiantly and patriotically are long gone, their children however are on their lands, not globe-trotting begging from one country to another, not being molested or racially abused because of the sacrifices of their forebears. Now we wish to be in their lands because everything seems rightly situated where they belonged in their lands. Why is our case different? Simple, our forebears were greedy. They ate their cake and had it. They grabbed their neighbor's and had it too, now we are left with nothing. The sad picture is that their heirs are carrying on from where they had left off. Now that is sad. Quite a number of us here have kids, don't we? Take a poignant look at your child or children. When you die, what world would you have left them in? A world where opportunities abound for them or one whose future is bleak and precarious, one which the certainty of another generation is unsure? We can still safe Nigeria, together, determined with a new character and discipline. Sacrifice your time, last dime, and sweat for the children yet unborn, your children's children so that they can have a land they can call theirs proudly with all they can ever dream of in it. So that they are not made slaves in another man's land. You have a golden opportunity, don't waste it off in complacency. The time was yesterday, but we can still salvage it today. #revievajaokuta #Industrialrevolution *Dr. Okeme Arome* _(social activist, medical doctor)_ |
