ifyalways: Una go keee unaselves with all the format and stories for this section, I swear
Which kind money you dey expect for months?
You dey find work here but you no fit work for the hotel abi? Dem thief your phone, you never chop or bath for three days but you went to cyber Cafe, sit down, create profile, compose story and post for nld or wait. . . Someone lent you his laptop/phone/iPad.
acevic: The way people are castigating the op sickens me to the stomach.
Someone offers to do introduction which is the first step and go ahead with the trad marriage after she must have put to bed. How do that show unseriousness ?
The question is how old is the lady in question?
How wealthy are the parents of the lady?
Wealthy enough to see the guy as poor? Or poor enough to see the guy as not rich enough to shoulder some responsibilities from their family?
Do they have someone they woulda loved the girl to marry?
Do they even like the Op at all?
Are they the spiritual types that have received any warning of any kind?
If you have a daughter, you can allow her give birth from her father's house because introduction has been done and the man promised to marry her when she has the baby.
Introduction isn't marriage. If in the entire 9months of the pregnancy the man didn't think he could put together a little something to pay her dowry then I can say for a fact he isn't serious.
Think about it. Money or projects shouldn't be a factor in marrying this girl as even the people in the lowest financial and social strata still get married everyday.
Our gullibility could be so sweet. Anyone who buys this can buy anything.
Of course she's come to realise that the blackmail tactics didn't work In Obtaining serious money she thought she could get. The story went cold and she realised how foolish she was for trying to malign her biggest paymaster. She reached out to apologize to him and he realised some good could still come off it and together they arranged this farce. All for the money I tell you. Her original story was a 100% true.
If really people paid her to this, why didn't she give names or clues? Why would people pay her to tarnish his image? In Nigeria where cheating allegations has never brought a man of God or a politician down!
eyinjuege: It still doesnt make sense to drive her to his house. Is it in his house, in his compound she would now come down? Is that what you call conveinent? Why would he even move an inch with her away from her house if he wasn't going to take her to her destination? You also believe the story of saying just go, and I'll tell you where we're going on the way? Just go where? Next door? Next street? Abuja? As a taxify driver, you know your client can request to go anywhere within the city, otherwise don't log on and pick up calls for that day. Some drivers work mainly/only at night. There are police stations in every area in lagos, and they're often central. Its very easy to confirm the distance of his house and hers anyway, and see if its truly same estate. There's still no justification taking her to his house. Better a police station, than your house especially since you say she was making calls that scared you. Its just a shady behaviour to drive a stranger (who's your client) against her wishes to your house no matter how much you try to sugar coat it. She may have been a rude, unruly person but that's still no excuse. I'm removing all sentiments from this (I've never heard of the case till just now, i dont even know the girl in question or the driver).
If you live in Lagos, you wouldn't be saying this. There's some areas you'll go to where you car can be snatched at gunpoint. No Uber and taxify driver would agree to go to that place. For her refusal to tell him where she's going, she knows it isn't a place he would like to go to. Why did she refuse to come down. That's holding a person hostage. At the time he cancelled the trip, he was a free citizen with a right to movement. If he'd asked her to come down and she refused but willingly remained in someone else's vehicle, you can never term that a kidnap. she remained in that vehicle willfully so wherever he decided to go with his own car, you can never say he kidnapped her.
laudate: Most estates usually have the following: 1). A security post at the entrance of the estate, manned by security guards; 2). A police post (not a station); 3). A clinic or hospital.
Did their estate lack all three?
Do you live in Lagos State? If you do you would know the answer to these questions.
eyinjuege: He should have simply driven her to the nearest police station and dropped her there, and not driven her to his residence or better still taken her back to where he picked her up from. What is the purpose of driving her to his home? I still don't understand that. And why would you as a driver take your customer to the middle of the road in the middle of the night and say you're not going again when you picked her up from the confines of her home/residence? Does that make any sense to you. If you don't want to go anymore, then take her back to where you picked her up from. It's not rocket science, the safety of his customer whether she's a rude a$$hole or not should come first.
The Lady and the guy lives in the same Estate. He was in his house when he got a request for another ride. He drove over to her house (same estate) picked her up. He asked her where she was going, she told him to just go that she'll tell him on their way. The only reason she would say this was because he'll probably not agree to go to that destination ( maybe its far or a bad area. And we are talking 12 midnight) The guy know this too and still right in front of her house, told her he wasn't going anymore. She refuses to come down from the car. She tells him that she has to get another Taxify before she comes down. Again, considering the time and location, this might not be easily achieved. Guy gets tired and still insists that she gets down and she still refused. So he decided to drive home (Still in the same Estate).
You say he should have driven her to a police station but do you know how far the nearest one was and how inconveniencing it would be for him. Consider the time and the fuel scarcity)
Let's sometimes leave sentimentality out of it and deduce like rational beings. Which story honestly makes more sense to you?
eyinjuege: The main question that should be asked is why he took her to a strange destination. That's kidnapping. It doesn't matter if she didn't run out of the car (in a strange place in the dark), or she didnt scream long enough, or she was wearing clothes that exposed her body or whatever. What was his intent? Who's house did he take her to? Was he planning to rape and kill her? Was he planning to use her for rituals? Why did he take her to an unknown destination? That is an offence punishable by life in prison or even death if something had happened to her.
She called a taxify which ideally should be safe enough to carry her to her destination. Apparently she's going somewhere by 12 midnight. Its nobody's business why she is out by 12midnight. The taxi should have simply taken her to where she wanted to go or simply not picked her up at all. Why did he divert the journey? That could have also happened in broad daylight btw. Okada riders, bus drivers and even taxi drivers have been known to take their passengers to unknown destinations to steal, rape or even kill them. That's the advantage uber and taxify services offer as they can be traced live and are safer than other means. This is very easy. Taxify must have a record of her call for a taxi, and they know who went to pick her. She claimed he decided to go offline when he got there . It will be in their system if that's true. That raises another question, why was he offline when he had a customer with him? Its either he was trying to stiff taxify or do a crime towards his customer. Either way, it doesnt look good for him.
how can you even deduce kidnapping from this story.
Guy-- madam get out of my car I'm not going anywhere anymore
Lady-- I'm not getting out you must take me to my destination
Guy-- alright now, stay, me I'm going home ( guy drives to his house)
I can't fault the guy one bit. You can't hold someone hostage just like that. so If it were you, you'd have wasted your whole night because you met an unruly customer that decided to hold you hostage.
That lady is pur evil for tarnishing the poor guys image like that.
Nigeriadondie: That has always been my issue with her. U make ur opinion and the moment it does not align with her she starts to rain insults on d person. She is frustrated, animalistic, less-human. She is a complete nuisance on nairaland including those that follows her, the likes of Amya.
It's like there's something wrong with you. Get off my mentions.
People always confide in me for some reason. I've heard stories so abominable but I don't even flinch. I'm nonjudgmental so people sometimes trust me with their greatest secrets and while I can never swear that it never left my lips to another's ears, it's to ears that such information will be utterly useless to and identity of the teller shrouded. This is because secrets too can be a huge burden to the keeper.
Ginaz: Mine was a girl, she is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. I'm a fellow girl too but I couldn't understand why I felt so obsessed with her. I experienced for the first time how it feels for guys to stalk a girl.lol.
She is so beautiful, nice fair skin, fine white open gap teeth and well rounded body, nice character, perfect dress sense. She's perfection, I've never wanted to be someone's friend so bad. Well, seems I was just admiring her. I tried to find her on Facebook but couldn't. We talk in school but just " hi babe xup '' kind of conversation.
Well, we wrote our final exams and I left. I was glad to leave cos the obsession was turning to a damn sickness.
I'm a girl obsessed over another girl, lol. I'm glad to be out o, dont wanna experience such again in my life. It wasn't healthy.
But God was so merry when he created her sha, never seen a girl to pretty as her.
How in the world did I miss this. Your story takes the cake.
Nigeriadondie: Olosho. How market. Wht is ur worth? U dey here dey blab. Just ahead na that Dangote truck that wud delete u from existence at least to rid d earth of garbage. Go and bath abeg, ur stench is horrible.
I can't sink to your level to banter vulgarities with you. If you think all these you write will get a rise out of me, you must be kidding. Your comments always shows the level of your maturity which is I'm sure, completely nonexistent. I advised you earlier to hide your face in shame rather you chose to disgrace yourself further in cyberspace. You're not very smart to keep embarrassing yourself day after day in front of thousands of people.
Nigeriadondie: . With ur 100% IQ make u dey build Rome na we dey see. Sure Nigeria is a dead country. The constitution of that doomed federal republic states: ‘That the security and d welfare of the people shall be d primary responsiblity of the govt. Once a govt has failed to do that to its citizen then such a country is dead. Hence, looking forward to d day I would gladly renounce my citizenship to ur pain. Pls weep no more. I can send u sanitary pads when u re menses starts flowing. Go clean ur stench below u ir continue swimming in d mud like that grunting creature u truly are. Come on u re nauseating. Pidgin2 is on recess and I think that is what u need.
The government is the people dumbass. When the consciousness of the mainstream changes it reflects on the government.
Nigeriadondie: Shame on u frustrated woman. Ur hormonal imbalance is d cos of ur misery. U re d stench. (my nose closed and spits). Go take a bath u love peddler. It is night time. Work go soon start customers soon to holla at u.
You never disappoint. Your zero IQ will always peek through. A name has never been so apt (Nigeriandondie)
kroger: I cant still phantom how a so called country don't have an airline. its irksome and a disgrace to Nigeria. Common kenya has one of the best airlines to her name. Its shame!!!!
Shames on you too if you happen to be a Nigerian. You're part of that stench. wherever you, you'd be regarded as that "Nigerian"
Organs: Shaybebaby: I see your dilema, but you dont see it. You dont even know who you are or that you do not have an identity or the moral grounds to stand on and tell AMYA Nigeria is her HOME. You are actually lost and have no sense of "self" anymore. Your identity is complicated and you don't even know it. You sound like those yorubas you meet abroad that say "i don't know how you people live in that country".
AMYA: You are my Hero..... Your fight is my fight and your struggle is my struggle. This is my gift to you for all your faith, hope and the belief in the "Nigeria go Survive" dream.
shaybebaby: It hurts, definitely.. That you are comfortable with filth. If you have truly left the shores to travel, pray tell how does the state of your home not anger you? Your complacency irks and also denial of the sorry state of affairs.
For me personally, it's no longer my home, hasn't been for eons but just because I'm okay doesn't mean the plight of those suffering in that country doesn't break my heart.
I couldn't turn a blind eye if it were on my door step, so how come you people who live there haven't gotten mad enough to do something drastic to change it?
It is your home isn't it? Hence why we point it out, your home isn't right.
You have the option of renouncing your Nigerian citizenship and in that instant, Nigeria stops being your problem. Your way of dealing with Nigeria's problem is running away to a country developed by its people while mine is stick around to fix the problem in my own country, yet you dare point fingers.
With all I've written you still say I'm in denial of the sorry state of affairs. I know the sorry state of affairs sister and I'm trying in my own little way to be that change. With more like minded people more instantaneous changes will occur.
There are 2 types of people in this world, the one who complains but doesn't do anything about it and those who face a problem and try to fix it. That I go with the latter doesn't make me complacent, rather I try as much as I can to make change that'll eventually cause that ripple effect to a greater good. I'm sure we wouldn't be having this argument if I was Team-Nigeria-is-terrible-i-want-to-relocate, maybe then I'll stop being "complacent" in your book.
shaybebaby: Nope, just your measure of success which is the flawed mentality I'm talking about, prevalent amongst you and your ilk.
Now talking about gaps in the market, the gaps you identified, these are things that are norm and should be in existence in the first place if not for the crappiness of that country.
You are talking shopping malls?lol. This is precisely why you need to leave. No mention of stable electricity, maintaining and building new infrastructure, even running water no dey and yet it is people building malls that you are talking about when the average Nigerian cannot even afford it. What use is it except to enrich the pockets of the few. How is that making an impact in any meaningful way?
The rest of the world is talking about renewable energy, the rise of automaton and what that means for jobs, universal basic income, you are there talking about shopping malls.
I have stepped out of the country couple of times and I've seen all that you've seen but unlike you, I don't have the desire to move there as I have no real sense of belonging. Its organised, yes! everything works, yes! but is it mine? no! They all collectively worked hard to be where they are and as much as I desire those things, I would rather they're replicated in my country.
Things are bad in my country, yes! but rather than sit back and complain about how everything is not working, I'll rather contribute my little to the system with the hope that someday we'll be at par with world powers. I don't seem to get resentment directed at me and others that share my sentiments. Why are you people disgusted with any act of patriotism. If for whatever reason you're not, can't you leave those with well enough alone.
If my house burns to the ground, I won't move to my neighbours mansion comfortably as though it were mine, rather my mind wouldn't be at rest until that which is mine is fixed to what I want to be no matter how long. What if that seemingly benevolent neighbour one day decides not to be benevolent anymore, what do you really have?
Yes the shopping malls and other new innovations are nothing compared to the social amenities which should be number 1. In as much any well meaning wants that but the fact we don't have it yet does not mean we should run away.
As I said earlier any one who thinks migrating to a developed country gives them life's fulfillment, good for them. Whatever floats their boat! Why this topic gets a rise out of some of you based abroad is somewhat confusing. You live in a country where everything works, you're happy, life's beautiful yet it hurts you to see that someone you don't even care about somewhere isn't eager to leave the hell hole of a country. So strange!
For me, I'll travel everywhere in the world as my pocket allows but Nigeria is my home.
kroger: Not until they step out the Jungle, they wont realise what having basic amenities means.. Spending Millions to renovate a poultry called an Airport.
shaybebaby: Time for a bit of a lesson in history. AMERICA: Is a country built by immigrants. Asides from the native Indian, the land was populated and built by like minded people who left their (UK, Irish, Italians etc) home countries in search of a better life.
When there was famine in Ireland in the 1800's, a lot of them left for the UK to ensure their survival.
When the brits set off to colonise Africa and Asia, the proceeds of their invasion and theft was used to develop their home country. Even where there was corruption, the average persons still benefitted from the wealth of the British Empire not just a select few hoarding it for themselves.
However, however old their history might be, they have always followed the rule of law, their laws, from the time of monarchy to a parliamentary system fought for by Oliver Cromwell. So regardless of what hardships, challenges they may have faced, those laws ensured that things did not deteriorate into total anarchy so there was always method to rebuilding afterwards.
But that's not the case in Nigeria is it? People are not law abiding, jungle justice mentality pervades. You open your gob to say people become millionaires overnight and a part of your brain did not even pause to question "how?" The end for you people justifies the means hence you don't care about the process. Is even becoming a millionaire an achievement or rather the success of an entire society? I look down on you, not for living in Nigeria but for your typically Nigerian mentality which is feral at best.
When you start to talk about access to quality education, health care, basic amenities and security for all, then I might start to think yes, there is something worthy in that place. However if you keep chatting shit about millionaires, then you deserve that hellhole you live in. Why? Because your measure of the success of your society is the reason why it's fvcked in the first place.
Now let me explain how the overnight millionaires concept works. Wealth is created when there's a gap to be filled, a need to be met and a discerning mind to meet that need. A wise person who has seen how things work in the western world would look to see if something like that existed in Nigeria and if there isn't, he gets to work. He gets people to invest or even approaches the government and if that it idea is deem worthy, a contract is set and money is made.
That is the opportunity you can find in a still young and developing economy that you can never find in already developed economies. Opportunities are innumerable my sister, only the truly discerning can see that. You not only contribute to make the country meet up globally, you also make money doing it. So technically they are making the country better and also getting paid. Ten years ago, there were hardly any malls or big supermarkets, but someone somewhere identified that need and is now a millionaire for that. Global franchise stores are rushing in, they're not fools. Young Nigerians are trooping in from everywhere in the world back to their homeland because they've identified the opportunities present in this country. Slowly but surely, i believe we will get there.
You say you look down on me because i have a Nigerian mentality. Nigerian mentality because I don't fancy relocating? Nigerian mentality because i believe in my country? Nigerian because I believe there are opportunities down here? If all these make me have a Nigerian mentality, I'll rather keep having it
kroger: I once had your submission about Nigeria, not until reality dawned on me. Let me tell u something a country dont just get better by chance, it takes Proper planning, Having a set goal, vision and discipline. For example china did not just from no where become what they are today, it was a step by step project. Right now Nigeria dont even have a vision for the next 50 years, we just live as it comes, no future projection, corruption is the order of the day, when i came back some few months ago It was pathetic. Look at our students abroad bagging first class doing excellently well, living their dream.. U want us to to fix nigeria problem collectively, you will just die before your time.
The system doesn't allow no one to fix anything, life is too short to start fixing a country that lacks vision. No one is saying people living abroad are better, but dont lie to us that we have millionaires on every street.. I wish those who wants to fix the country good luck.
Good for you. You have that power of choice. However, those of us who still believe and want to contribute our quota should be left alone. There are people that become millionaires overnight in Nigeria through hard work same as I suppose everywhere in the world.
elfmann: When will Nigeria move past? Baby steps for 57yrs. IF UR CHILD DOESN'T WALK IN TWO YEARS, SHEY U GO HAPPY?
You won't be happy but you won't throw your child away even if he doesn't walk all his life. You'll only play your active part as a parent to ensure that kid walks.
Nigeria is our collective responsibility. Running all over the world to countries that collectively fixed their problem and abandoning yours is being penny wise pound foolish. It still your country whether you like it or not and you're representatives/ambassadors of it whereever you find yourself. If you keep tarnishing her image, you're tarnishing your own image.
I'm not against migration, to each his own. My comment is merely aimed at those who think the fact they migrated to a developed country makes them better than us who even if offered a chance to live anywhere in the world would still choose to stick around to contribute our quota to the system.
The US, The UK and even more recently China... They didn't get to where they are easy and they did it with the genuine love they have for there country.
Nigeria might have a terrible history like these other nations did in times past but like them also we will move past it . Most of these 1st world countries are many centuries old to our 57 years old. They've had the time to get it together and make their countries what is.
Nigeriadondie: What do u know about Gene modification? I know if it were u dat chicken wud ve been shared by all in ur family to last fir days. When was d last time u ate chicken? How re u sure it was not fed with artificial additives? What do u know about food safety? Come on stop being jealous. Pidgin2’s bp is up. I guess she is dead now. Ur turn next.
And here you're talking about chicken? Chicken! I'm ashamed on your behalf.
Nigeriadondie: I ve never made empty claims. I ve proven my envious critics with evidences beyond reasonable doubt. So if u doubt my educational credentials it is ur headache while living in a country where education is free at all levels. Be living in denial when d likes of u wud be begging us for change when we come visiting. Be bragging of d Otedolas and Dangotes which are just few compared to the vast majority who are merely surviving. U fail to realize that countries dont need to ve several billionaires but to ve majority of its population in d middle class. But sadly that middle class has shrunk. Even in developed countries u dont need to be Dangotes or Otedolas. China for example with a population nearly 8 times ours succeeded in lifting more than half of it populace in to d middle class.
You're not very smart. You'd have hidden your head in shame as I'd advised earlier rather than to come spew more nonsense that shows your stupidity to the world. I cringed inwardly at all your comments I read. I found it hard to believe that someone's brain okayed all he was spewing out. Your decision to migrate elsewhere is your choice, your business. But for you to condescend on folks back home shows the level of your very low IQ. Have you thought that if everyone decides to runaway like you then there wouldn't be anyone to fix the country.
All first world countries also had their shaky history, but the people rather than runaway to somewhere better stuck around to make their country better. If you don't have any positive contribution for your country Nigeria then shut up and face your life. No matter how you point fingers and condescend, you're still a Nigerian. Run to the ends if the world and that stench would still follow you.
Organs: God bless you Amya...... the runaway guy is even posing with those nonsense genetically grown chicken can you imagine.....
He thinks that the fact he can afford chicken means he's living the good life.
My problem with people like him is that they think they've made it in life because they crossed border. They think everyone wants to runout like them and get very pissed and full with resentment when they see people are not so eager to leave like them. I think its envy in reverse, because if he's really happy with his life, he should face it and enjoy it but rather he's here seething and bitter. He's secretly unhappy with his life as Europe wasn't as enjoyable as he'd hoped and shame wouldn't let him come back.
Nigeriadondie: Ur mother i am sure is d daft who begot a daft which is u. Wait for me to window dress d country whose image is already tarnished. U should be ashamed of yourself cos u never got d chance to be where we are. I feel ur pain but not can be done to redeem ur pitiable situation. Nauseating pig head go and die let me pee on ur corpse as it wud be dignifying to give u a funeral.
Wow! I knew you were dumb but I never knew to what extent. You're way way beneath where I'd placed you at.
I should be ashamed of myself because I never got the chance to be where you are? Did you really read what you wrote? You really think living in some other country is a privilege? really? You think everyone envisions being second class citizens of other peoples country? You really believe you're better than the Dangotes and Otedolas in Nigeria that can afford to live anywhere in the world yet are based in Nigeria.
Yes Nigeria's a mess, but it my mess too and I and other well meaning people will make it better. Migration is a personal choice, but I love my Nigeria, warts and all.
When you manage to save up a flight ticket to visit Nigeria ( after 5 years), you'd see that those people you left behind are doing very well and you have nothing to show for the wasted years.
PS. While you're at it, invest in a quality education because I doubt you have any.
