Politics › Re: 10 Lies Most Politicians Tell During Election Campaigns To Deceive Voters by amzee(m):
The reasons politicians lie is because the public doesn't want to hear the truth. People want to hear what they want to hear.

When two candidates are running and one of them tells the truth and the other says what the
public wants to hear, the one who says what the public wants to hear wins the election. Thus, and there are exceptions to this, if you want to win an election, you
better start lying, because the guy who's telling you the truth doesn't have a chance.
Celebrities › Olajumoke Orisaguna's Mother In-law Speaks : Read What She Had To Say by amzee(op): 2:12pm On Feb 23, 2016
The ex bread seller turned model, Jumoke Orisaguna’s story will not be complete without inputs from her immediate family.

In a recent interview with Saturday Tribune, Olajumoke’s mother-in-law, Mrs Janet Orisaguna talks about how she met her son.

JUMOKE ORISAGUNA (EX BREAD
SELLER) MOTHER IN-LAW SPEAKS: READ WHAT SHE HAS TO SAY and her daughter- in-law’s fame.

Read Excerpts Below:

Q-How did you receive the news of Olajumoke’s fortune with her pictures in newspapers and on social media?

A-”She is my son’s wife but I treat her as my own daughter. I felt very happy when I heard the good news”.

Q-Since your son, Sunday, married
Olajumoke, how would you describe her attitude?

A-”She has always exhibited a good character. My son met and impregnated her when she was learning hairdressing.
My son had phoned me from Lagos and said that if I heard that he impregnated a girl, it was true and he was ready to marry her. In the evening of that day, somebody
brought Jumoke and mentioned Sunday as the one who put her in the family way.
I said there was no problem and asked her to come and stay with me. Some weeks later, she brought her luggage and began living with me here. I soon went to meet her parents and told
them that we had accepted her as our wife and daughter. Since she gave birth, I have been taking care of her. Sometime last year, she told me that she was going
to Lagos to work and I gave her my blessing. She dropped her firstborn for her mother but when the child was sick, my in-law brought her to me, saying that
she said he wanted to see her father (Sunday), who was then in Osogbo, where he was learning to make aluminium doors and windows. Sunday came to Iree for the weekend and we took the child to the hospital and thereafter, she was okay. But
when Jumoke heard that her child was sick, she said she wanted to come and take her to Lagos and I said there was no need for that. Not quite long afterwards,
she came to Iree and started staying here.
However, in January, this year, she told me that she was going back to Lagos and I asked about her decision to return to Lagos. This time, she took her two children to Lagos but I was not comfortable with it and I gave her husband money to go and bring back the
first child so that she could continue her education in Iree. I didn’t want anything to disrupt her education because it might
be difficult to find a school for her in Lagos.
She later brought the child back to Iree.
About a week after, she went back to Lagos and the next thing we heard in the news is that she has become a model. We did not really take the news seriously at
first. Her husband called and told me that he wanted to travel to Lagos because some people took the picture of Jumoke and they were looking for her and eventually found her at the bakery where she usually bought bread in large quantities. He said they asked him to come to Lagos over the matter. I gave him the
transport fare and he left for Lagos. When he got to Lagos, Sunday called me and said that it was good news and we were
all happy”.

Q-What is your advice for Olajumoke now?

A-”This is a thing of joy for me and Jumoke’s parents. For us in the Orisagunna family, we see it as a big success. Jumoke and her
husband, my son, should continue to pray and thank God and realize that it is God who has brought them this far in life.”

Romance › Nigerian-born Gay Activist, Bisi Alimi Goes Ring Shopping by amzee(op):
The controversial gay Nigerian man, Bisi Alimi, took to his Instagram page to gush about his upcoming wedding.

The Nigerian UK-based gay activist, Bisi Alimi, shared photos of himself and his partner, Anthony, shopping for their
wedding rings in South Africa.

Bisi who is set to wed his white lover in a couple of weeks, has been very open about his sexuality, a cause for which he
has continually come under fire.

Some Nigerians who have an obvious dislike of his sexuality, took to the comment section to express their distaste. Here’s what some of them had to say:

“It is epistemologically proven that @bisialimi and the other goat is a waste bin, demented soul and a completely deranged man!” – @johannes_francesco “Werey …come and marry him in
Nigeria” –
@Usmanoyeleke “@bisialimi You’re a demented soul! I
wish both of you a looooooooong
vacation in hell! And its gonna be soon.”
– @johannes_francesco
“@favour_omo You are a Fool, a slowpoke! And as for you @bisialimi For you being a Nigerian?Yoruba, you are a big disgrace, I pray that God’s rode will strike your gayish ass soon, Nuisance! I dare you to come to Nigeria, i will forward your passport to the Nigerian
Immigration department…London yen lo ma Kusi. OMO ALE!” –
@tolienjoe-Meanwhile he had some of his followers defending his decision.

Here’s what they
had to say: “@tolienjoe but what is your business though? Does he marrying this guy affect you in anyway? No it does not. If
your religion or culture does not believe in something then don’t practice it. Another person’s sin is not your sin. Coming on here and calling people names is a sin because you are cursing people which God is against. If he is
going to hell, let him, it’s not you going to hell. Instead of focusing on your own problems and your own way of worshiping God, you are busy disturbing someone’s IG page for no reason.” –

@thatsoshelly “Stop the criticism. It’s because of these negative things people say that make
some people die in silence nd end up being disgraced. Here is someone proud nd happy nd haters re hating. Com on get a life.
Ywc @bisialimi” – @_queenfiona

Politics › Boko Haram: Civilian JTF Arrests Shekau’s Suspected Impostor by amzee(op): 7:45am On Feb 22, 2016
By Kingsley Omonobi.

Abuja — As the battle for the final clear out of Boko Haram remnants continues in the North East, the local security volunteer group, known as Civilian JTF, in Konduga
Local Government Area of Borno State, yesterday, claimed it had arrested a notorious Boko Haram kingpin, named Bashir.

The Civilian JTF noted that the Boko Haram kingpin, popularly called Bashir Sarkin Yanka, which in Hausa means “Bashir the King of Slaughter” had been the terrorist acting as Abubakar Shekau in some videos on the social media.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian military,
yesterday, said it was yet to confirm the speculation over the arrest of the Boko Haram kingpin.
A statement signed by Air Commodore Dele Alonge from the Information Office of Operation Lafiya Dole also disclosed
that two suspected Boko haram
members, who infiltrated an IDPs camp, have been arrested.

The statement read: “The Nigerian military has arrested two suspects, Audu Umar and Hassan Umar, for smuggling themselves among the Internally Displaced
People (IDPs) brought from Pulka to Gwoza IDPs camp in Borno State.

“The male suspects, who gave their names as Audu Umar and Hassan Umar are undergoing interrogation by the military and intelligence operatives.

“Meanwhile, the Nigerian military is yet to confirm the speculation over an arrest of Boko Haram kingpin, popularly known as
Bashir Sarkin Yanka, which in Hausa means “Bashir the King of Slaughter.”

The spokesperson of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-East, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, said the military cannot confirm the arrest of Shekau’s actor even as the military has sustained its counter-
insurgency operations where some terrorists have been eliminated and others apprehended in the North-East.
The arrested suspect was reported to have confessed to the Civilian JTF that he had acted as Boko Haram Leader, “Shekau” in some videos and was responsible for the death of his (Bashir’s)
mother, two sisters and brother, apart from engaging in mass slaughtering.

Nairaland General › Top 10 Lagos Slangs You Should Know by amzee(op): 1:08pm On Feb 20, 2016
Lagos, the big apple of Africa with a population of over 15 million people. With a population larger than that of some countries, it wouldn’t be strange to find
uniqueness in the way they do things even when it comes to communication. So, if you’re new to Lagos and want to mix up
easily without getting yourself out as a newcomer, I've got you covered as I’ve outlined 10 of the most popular slangs you are likely to hear on the streets of Lagos…

1- Street ti take over: It means the street has taken over in Yoruba. It became very popular after the Headies beef between producer Don Jazzy and YBNL boss Olamide.
The term was used by Olamide during his rant on stage at the 2015 headies.

2- Leave trash for Lawma: Just like the first one, this was also used by Olamide in furtherance of his beef with Don Jazzy during his many Twitter rants.

3- I never experredit: In proper English, it is ‘I never expected it’ – When someone wasn’t ready for something and BOOM! it hits
their face.

4- Your father: It is used to hush a second party, when the person is lying or says something the other person doesn’t agree with.

5- Your head dey there: This is usually used as a compliment for someone who has impressed you.

6- Turn up: To go out and have fun.

7- There is God: It was made popular by the former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan during her address about the abducted Chibok girls. People now use this
as a slang for exclamation.

7- Issorai: In proper English, ‘It’s alright’, which means everything is OK!.

8- Street is here: It is used by someone forming ‘bad guy’ when they make an entrance into a place.

9- Skiibiid: It means to die. This slang was made popular by the MMMG artiste, Skiibi who faked his own death just to promote his new song.

10- Jega(ed): It means to be very calm in the face of chaos and confusion. It was coined from the action of the former INEC boss,
Atahiru Jega when Godsday Orubebe made attempts at disrupting the proceedings of
the 2015 presidential election collation.

Health › ‘strange’ Disease Kills 25 Children In Lagos [DETAILS] by amzee(op): 7:42am On Feb 20, 2016
The Lagos state government has confirmed the death of 25 children, whose agse range
from 8 months to 6 years old, in Otodo-Gbame community, Ikate Lekki area.

The children are said to have died after an outbreak of a ‘strange’ disease.

According to the Lagos state commissioner for health, Jide Idris, 34 persons are currently under close supervision.

Idris noted that the cause and source of the disease is yet to be identified, however, the
commissioner acknowledged that the disease has similar symptom with Febrile Rash Illness (FRI).

“The disease causing the outbreak is yet to be confirmed. However, the signs and symptoms are suggestive of Febrile Rash Illnesses (FRI). Blood samples (and throat swabs) from the patients and water samples from the community have been taken to the Virology Reference Laboratory
at LUTH and Lagos State Drug Quality Control Laboratory (DQCL), LASUTH, Ikeja respectively. The source of the infection is still under investigation.”

He further stated that: “The graves of 20 children who died from the FRI since the day of onset of signs and symptoms in the first case on January 6 were identified by
their parents.”

“Also, 34 cases have been line listed so far with 17 males and 17 females; 17 dead patients have been identified with nine males and eight females, all are within the age range of eight and 72 months. The source of the infection is still under investigation and until we know the required source, we cannot say for sure, what is causing it.”

The disease, according to the
commissioner, is believed to have broken out on January 16 “but the community would not alert the health authorities of the outbreak on time”.

The community where the disease broke out is said to have a population size of about 100,000 people. The place, basically, is a slum with waste deposited at different spot and shallow wells scattered around.

“The water from the wells is used mostly for bathing, washing and cooking. Majority of the residents claimed it is not used for drinking but a few said they sometimes
drink from the well. The community head, Chief Hunpe Dansu confirmed the outbreak
of the Febrile Rash Illnesses.”

“Seven cases were already followed up as at February 15, 2016. Six had recovered while
one who was still ill was immediately taken to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Ikate
for further medical attention.”

The commissioner also added that plans were underway to begin complete supplement immunization for all child.
