Customs officers have arrested an African woman at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) who attempted to smuggle cocaine worth RM622,000 into the country. The woman was arrested at the departure hall on February 14 at 9.30am. KLIA Customs director Datuk Chik Omar Chik Lim (pictured showing small chunks of cocaine hidden in chocolate packaging) said the 28-year-old woman was detained after Customs detected a suspicious item when scanning her luggage. “The arrest was made when the woman was waiting for her flight to Kota Baru. Our investigations showed that the suspect arrived here from Dubai on the same day at 7.30am via MH163. We found 166 chunks of substance hidden in a box of chocolate cans, which tested positive as cocaine weighing 3.11kg worth RM622,000,” he said at a press conference, today, February 17.” Chik Omar said the woman, who was unemployed was on her maiden visit to Malaysia. “She claimed she was going on a holiday in Kota Baru but we suspect she wanted to hand over the cocaine to a drug trafficking syndicate there,” he said. The woman had been remanded for seven days for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Act. The legislation provides for the death sentence upon conviction. “The arrest and seizure was the outcome of intelligence and monitoring work and sharing of information with authorities in other countries.” he added. “She claimed she's going on a holiday in Kota Baru but we suspect she wanted to hand over the cocaine to a drug trafficking syndicate there,” he said. 9. It’s in your face. You can’t run away from it. You can’t skip or forget day even if you want to, because it’s in your face. You stay at home and it’s being talked about on TV, radio and social media. Going out is not even an option because everywhere will be filled with couples and the colour red. 10. Public display of affection everywhere. Valentine’s Day is that day when all the restaurants, cafés, and hangout spots will be hijacked by couples. Everywhere you turn, there are couples holding hands or having a happy conversation. 11. Brings about pretense Some people go as far as sending themselves gifts just to show off to their friends that they are not left out. 12. Girls do whatever it takes to have a man on that day. I have seen situations where girls pretend to love a guy just because they don’t want to be alone on that lovers’ day and they want gift. After they’ve achieved their goal of getting gift, they dump the guy. 13. Leaves a hole in your pocket. Add Valentine’s Day to the list of expenses that burn a hole in your pocket. Money goes out for birthdays, anniversaries and other events and you have to add Valentine’s Day to it. 14. Another opportunity to show off. This pertains mostly to women who feel they have to compete among themselves, who received gifts and who did not as well as who got the most expensive gift. To some ladies, February 14 is a day to gloat about the romantic surprise they got from the boyfriend, and then to ask “What did your boyfriend get you?” One more reason why Valentine’s Day is overrated. Valentine’s Day may be an upsetting day for some, but those who remember the true meaning will be reminded that it is about those you care about, not only the romantic partners. It’s a day to simply remind others around you of how much they mean to you not just those you’re romantically with. Do you think Valentine’s Day is overrated ![]() Lalasticlala |
Every year on February 14, millions of people celebrate Valentine’s Day all over the world. The perfect card, the perfect gift, the perfect date, all these and more are used to mark this day, which is believed to be the most romantic time to declare love. A lot of couples dream of spending this day in a special and unforgettable way and when it doesn’t happen that way, there’s trouble in the relationship. With the way, Valentine’s Day has been commercialised, it appears that your love is measured by what you buy. This is not what love is all about. There is more to love than roses and chocolates and expensive gifts. I understand that it’s a special day to show love to those you care about but if you truly love someone, you don’t wait till its Valentine’s Day before you show them how much you love them. It’s something you should do every day and not wait for some day in the middle of February. People just assume that Valentine’s Day is only for people who are in relationships, which makes it even worse. But it shouldn’t be. You have your family and friends and they also deserve your love. Have you ever tried to understand why Valentine’s Day is so overrated all over the world? The materialistic focus has made it quite overrated. Let’s see some reasons below. 1. It has lost its meaning Valentine’s Day is supposed to be about people you care about. It doesn’t only have to be about the romantic relationships. In today’s age, the day’s meaning has become more materialistic. 2. It leaves many broken afterwards. Some end up with unwanted pregnancies. Just because you don’t want to be the odd one out, you end up spending the night with a man and rolling in the sheets. Months later, you discover you’re pregnant and he doesn’t want the baby. Some relationships never remain the same after that day. 3. It’s no fun when you’re obligated to do something romantic. There are no surprises, it’s the same routine. You get to buy gifts, you go out or spend the day together indoors. Even when you don’t have the money to buy gifts, you find a way because you don’t want to offend your partner. There are just no surprises, except maybe you decide to disappoint your partner by not showing up. 4. It makes those who are single feel lonely and unloved. What can be worse than feeling like nobody loves you or cares about you? It’s bad enough that you’re constantly reminded of your single life each time you see happy couples. Now, you have to deal with a whole day dedicated to mushy love songs, red everywhere and couples all over the place making out. Instead of feeling this way, spend time with your family and friends and forget about the loneliness. 5. Love should be shown everyday. Some people wait till its Valentine’s Day to show their partners how much they love them when in reality, everyday should be a day to express love. If you love someone, you should express your feelings to them on a daily basis and it’s not just about buying gifts. Your actions also matter. 6. It gives those who are in relationships a reason to worry unnecessarily. For some couples, Valentine’s Day is another day to be stressed out. You have to plan what to do, what to buy and how to impress your partner. At the end of the day, you freak out when those plans don’t go exactly the way you wanted them to. 7. It can either make or mar a relationship. A lot of girls expect their partners to get them gifts and if you don’t, there will be trouble. If you forget to call your partner early, there will be trouble. If you can’t spend the day with them, it’s another trouble which might even destroy the relationship. The girls come to the conclusion that you don’t love them or she is the side chick. Valentine’s Day seems to be the only day where showing love towards a loved one determines the status and outcome of a romantic relationship. 8. It strengthens gender stereotypes. For the ladies, Valentine’s Day is that day where they sit back, relax and wait for their men to shower them with gifts and also make the right arrangements for a splendid night. The men on the other hand have to go all out to prove how much they love their girl. Valentine’s Day just feeds the stereotype that men are dominant in the relationships and should be the ones doing all the spending. The giving should be both ways and not one-sided. |

I have seen the stress she always pass through anyday she's going and coming back from work. |
Good day Nairalanders. I really need your advice on something.I come from a family of five (5) and I am the 4th child. I have a sister who is in her late twenties(20s) and she work with a multinational company in Lagos. This is her Third(3rd) year on the job and I know she needs a car now(cos of the traffic and transport issue in Lagos). Now,here's the issue,my 2 senior and my junior sisyer thinks that getting a car is a bad idea. Why? Cos she's single. My beloved brother said it would push men away from her and I was shocked. Please, does this not sound myopic? I really dont get it. Nairalanders how do you see this cos she feels down right now. Lalasticlala Royalroy, please move to frontpage so that I can get matured advice. |
Thankfully it wasn’t anything dangerous, and instead
it was stacks of 20, 10 and 100 dollar bills! He
decided to snap photos of what he found and posted
it online, but remained anonymous out of fear the
previous car owners would contact him! Lalasticlala
|
When he got home he decided to carefully open the
bag, finding 7 duct tape bricks inside.
|
He’d found the cause of his electrical issues. Plastic
wrap, and a mysterious black bag holding something!
|
One man was cleaning his newly purchased car one
day and found out that the electric window did not
work. So he decided to check the problem by taking the
door apart.
