3million jobs created by Buhari Government so far!

The joke of the week must be the tweet by @chidiajuzie,
illustrated with a picture of fuel hawkers. He wrote:
“Nigeria has so far created 3 million jobs, all in the
Ministry of Petroleum, Street Petrol Hawking Division.”
I’m still laughing. Without this sense of humour, most
Nigerians would be walking the streets with severe cases
of madness. The searing heat and deafening generator noises are enough to blow up the fuses in the head and turn us to mental cases. But thank goodness, humour is helping us out. It is bad enough that there is no power; but to get fuel for your generator is something else. And what about the horrific traffic caused by fuel queues?

– The federal government has given automatic employment to 105 Nigerians affected by the 2014 NIS recruitment. – Three beneficiaries were selected from each deceased applicants’ family. FG gives automatic employment to 105 candidates of the botched NIS recruitment As part of efforts to compensate Nigerians affected by the 2014 botched Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment, the federal government on Monday, April 4, gave automatic employment to 105 candidates and relatives to deceased applicants from the aborted exercise. In a statement issued by Bassey Akpanyung, the permanent secretary of the ministry of interior, the NIS said the 60 others who sustained injuries in the exercise would also be given employment after due verification. . . The ministry said the two categories of beneficiaries are now undergoing training at various camps of the NIS in compliance with the presidential directive. It noted that after due verification, employment was given to three family members of each deceased applicant from the aborted exercise, of which fifteen families were identified, and a total of 45 family members selected. . . “After verification, 15 families were identified, and a total of 45 family members selected from the deceased families. Similarly, approval was given for those who were injured in the same exercise to be employed. “After due verification by relevant agencies of government, 60 of those affected were considered for appointment,” it said. . The recruitment conducted by the special presidential committee constituted in the wake of the aborted exercise of March 2014 was being looked into. The interior ministry advised all those affected in the exercise to remain calm and observe decorum while the matter is being resolved. Meanwhile, the Nigeria police’s commencement of its nationwide recruitment exercise ended up in disappointment for many Nigerians who flooded their official website. The Nigerian security outfit had announced openings for about 10,000 Nigerians and on the first day of the exercise alone, about 8,000 individuals had registered, leading a sudden crash of the website on Friday, April 1. . . . Open letter to his excellency, the Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. Dear Sir, Don't worry you will not die. Those pronouncing death do not have the power to create life and were not authorized by Christ to verbalize anyone's death! Do not be afraid, here is biblical evidence standing against their proclamations. Jeremiah 23:16 KJV [16] "Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord . Jeremiah 23:21-23 KJV [21] "I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. [22] "But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings". [23] Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord , and not a God afar off?. My advice is to continue listening to God as he would offer you direction, wisdom and protection. Stay blessed Sir. Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State on Saturday verbally attacked fiery Muslim preacher, Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, at a prayer session in Ado-Ekiti. . The cleric had courted the governor’s venom by urging him to show more decorum in his public utterances. The altercation took place during a prayer conference and award ceremony organised by the Southwest branch of the Ansar-ud-Deen Muslim Society of Nigeria between March 25 and 28. On Saturday, Fayose was in attendance at the event, which had as highlights prayers for the country and the honouring of deserving Muslims with awards, when the outspoken preacher offered his advice. Those at the event said the preacher told Fayose that as the Number One citizen of the state, he needs to be more cautious in his public utterances. The unsolicited advice apparently did not sit well with the governor, they said, as he responded with abusive words at the preacher, who attempted to reply him but was restrained by some of the elders in attendance. His microphone was disabled. The elders also appealed to the governor to leave the venue, having already performed his role, but he bluntly refused, an action that led to a three-hour disruption of the programme. The governor subsequently left the event, which ended on Monday morning. Attempts to interview the cleric, who was present until Sunday, proved abortive. Mr. Lere Olayinka, Special Assistant to Fayose on New Media, expressed the view that the cleric deserved the insults the governor drenched him in. The dream of every undergraduate is to land a very rewarding job upon graduation. Nowadays, this dream seems to be a mirage for many Nigerian graduates, who in most cases are poorly equipped with the right technical skill to cope with the ever changing demands and requirements of the labour market. Apart from your degree, what else can you bring to the table? How can you solve the current problem at hand and boost profitability? These are some of the questions on the minds of many employers of labour in the country. . I.T skills are very broad and are in huge demand these days. Gone are the days when you only had to state your ability to use Microsoft office packages on your C.V, and then you are given a pass to an interview. . Although these packages are good and are still very much relevant in the labour market, problems confronting modern day companies have become more complex, requiring deeper I.T skills to surmount. Companies are resorting to Information Technology to gain a competitive edge over each other. . Cloud Computing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Internet Marketing, are some hottest I.T skills to acquire these days. With that being said, these are the top I.T skills every Nigerian graduate should have: . Basic Programming Skills Whether you studied Yoruba or Arabic in School, you should, at least, be able to write basic HTML. The world is more interconnected with complex computing systems than ever before. When you interact with your counterparts overseas, you'd realize how obsolete your I.T knowledge is and that computer programming isn't just a thing for I.T engineers alone or the science inclined. Learning how to write basic HTML, which is the special format used for web pages and coding in general, will help you stand you out from the crowd. It will make you marketable in the eyes of potential employers. . Backing up to Cloud Storing files offline is currently becoming a thing of the past these days. When files are backed up to a cloud-based service, they can be accessed remotely provided you have an internet connection. This cloud storage knowledge allows you to remain productive while on the go. You could start fine tuning your cloud-based knowledge by utilising either iCloud or Dropbox services. . Converting File Formats There are various file formats available these days. Having the requisite knowledge on how to handle them can help you carry out your job requirements efficiently. You might be required to convert MsWord to PDF, MP3 to WAV when trying to upload certain files online. In fact, potential employers require you to submit your resume in specified file formats, failure to submit your C.V in the right format will send wrong signals to your potential employers. You must understand these file formats and how to convert them as the situation requires. This will make the job that involves file formatting easy and ensure that your documents and files aren't rejected for using the wrong file format. . Social Media Marketing Nowadays, when many Nigerian graduates hear about social media, they think it's all about chatting and hooking up with long lost friends. They fail to harness opportunity it avails to generate leads. These days, a lot of companies are shifting their attention to social media because of the vast amount reach they possess. FaceBook, alone, receives more visits than the world's largest search engine, Google. You should learn how to target certain sections of your country’s population to boost sales as well as improve people's awareness of the brand you are representing. Companies love employees with the requisite knowledge to drive sales via social media. |
Keep calm cos Change is a gradual process.

Four students of the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for attempting to resurrect the corpse of a 300-level student of Microbiology, Eniola Jacob. PUNCH Metro learnt that the parents of the deceased, who were not comfortable with the students’ antics, invited policemen from the Ifo Police Division who arrested the undergraduates. The suspects are Inerima Alaniye (a 400- level student of Mathematics); Awe Raphael (a 500-level student of Law); Adeboye Adeshola (a 200-level student of Political Science); and Arawomo Stephen. Our correspondent had reported that Jacob allegedly took an insecticide, Sniper, last Saturday on the campus. He was said to have been rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where he died on Sunday. Our correspondent gathered that students who attempted to resurrect his corpse were leaders of the Cherubim and Seraphim Students Fellowship on the campus. Jacob was said to have been a strong member of the fellowship before his death. The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the students’ behaviour and actions at Jacob’s grave were suspicious, adding that they had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran. The police spokesperson said during Jacob’s burial, the four students suddenly emerged and asked that the corpse be exhumed. He said, “They were arrested at the graveside. They were arrested because their actions were suspicious. They insisted on exhuming the corpse that had been buried. They said they wanted to resurrect it. It came to us as a surprise that in this modern age, some group of young boys would come out and say they want to resurrect a dead man. “We felt it was a strange development. If they were not cultists they would not make such a demand. We thought they were looking for parts of the deceased to tamper with and we took them to Eleweran for further investigations.” The Public Relations Officer of the University of Lagos, Mr. Toyin Adebule, said he could not confirm the arrest of the students. He, however, confirmed that Jacob took Sniper on the school premises. He said the police had taken over the case and a corona inquest had begun. He said, “This is a corona case and the school is not involved. It has nothing to do with the university. What happened was that he (Jacob) took Sniper and after taking it, the security was informed. He was initially talking, but suddenly he collapsed. “He was rushed to the school’s health centre where he was resuscitated. Around 7pm, he was rushed to LUTH where he died some hours later. There is no indictment. I am not aware that some students of the school have been arrested. Source: www.punchng.com/unilag-students-arrested-for-attempting-to-resurrect-colleague/

Would the world be any different if you weren’t born? Do you wake up in the morning feeling like you have an important role to play in the grand scheme of things? Most of us grow up in a world where life is dispensable, where our individual contributions go unrecognized, where there is no real sense that life – ours or anyone’s – is significant or meaningful. At the root of this restlessness and discontent is the deep-deated conviction that “I Don’t Matter.” A belief that if I were to show up someplace or not, or make some kind of contribution or not, it would not fundamentally affect the world or the people that live in it. Think about that for a minute. If you don’t feel like you make a difference in the world, how excited can you be about the things you do and the choices you make? When you wake up in the morning and you feel like what you do that day doesn’t matter anyway, how committed or passionate can you be? This means you are absolutely necessary. You are indispensable to God’s vision of the world, chosen to fulfill a mission in this world that you and only you can accomplish like musical notes in the grand Divine composition, each of us has our unique music to play.
