Nairaland / General / Police Reveals Identity Of Tinubu's 'bishop', Rescued From Abuja Mob by amzee(m): 5:29pm On Aug 22, 2022
Police operatives in Abuja have revealed the identity of the‘cleric’ who was almost lynched
in the Federal Capital Territory last week.

It was earlier reported that the‘Bishop’ who attended the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as Vice-Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was almost lynched .

Traders at the Dei Dei International Building
Materials Market in Abuja had identified
him as one of the clerics who attended the
event held at Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Centre.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT), DSP Josephine Adeh while speaking on the incident identified the cleric as Bishop Hilary C. Okafoh of Madalla, Niger State.

Adeh confirmed that there was an attempt
to lynch Okafoh at the Dei-Dei International
Building Materials Market, Abuja.

She added that the cleric was rescued and
escorted out of the market by police operatives.

Adeh said, “ Not knowing how far this will
go, and to preserve his fundamental human rights. The police swung into action and saved him from further embarrassment.”

There has been controversy over the
presence of some clerics at the official
unveiling of Shettima as the vice presidential candidate of the ruling party.

Some had described the clerics as fake, so the APC refuted the claim that they invited fake clerics to the unveiling.

Politics / My Life Is In Danger – Dogara Cries Out, Petitions IGP by amzee(m): 6:09am On Aug 21, 2022
A former Speaker of the House of
Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has
petitioned the Inspector General of Police,
Alkali Usman, over an attempt to kill him
by one of his constituents.

He also alleged that three other people
including the Chairman of the Christian
Association of Nigeria, in Tafawa Balewa
Local Government Area of Bauchi State
are also being targeted.

Dogara, who represents Dass/Tafawa
Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency in the
House of Representatives, disclosed this in
a petition addressed to the IGP, which was
obtained by our correspondent in Bauchi
on Saturday night.

The letter was also copied to the National
Security Adviser; the Director General,
Department of State Services; the
Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State and
the Director, Department of State Services,
Bauchi State.

The petition which was dated August 18th,
2022 was titled: “Appeal for a thorough
investigation into gun running activities
involving Inspector Dakat Samuel,
Inspector Auwalu Mohammed and Barau
Joel Amos (Sarkin Yaki); as it relates to
the confession of Barau Joel Amos that he
sought to buy the rifles in order to kill me
and three others.

He said that the above-named officers
who have been arrested are being
investigated for allegedly trying to sell rifles
to one of his constituents.
The lawmaker said that the rifle in
question, according to the confession of
his constituent, Barau Joel Amos who
sought to buy it, was to be used to kill him
and three other people.

He said he was worried that there has
been no official advice from the police
relating to the credible threat to their lives
to enable them beef up security around
them for them to be more careful about
their movements, just as he warned that
the issue should not be toyed with.

The petition read in part, “I wish to draw
your attention to the above matter which is
currently before the DCP Criminal
Investigation Department of the Nigeria
Police, Bauchi State Command. I am sure
you are seized of the matter by now since
it involves looting of your armory in Bauchi
by the very officers who are entrusted with
the safe custody of your arms and a
constituent of mine, Barau Joel Amos who
sought to buy or has been buying assault
rifles from the officers.

“I have been authoritatively informed that
the said Barau Joel Amos has confessed
that the reason he sought to buy the rifles
is to kill me and three of my constituents,
vis: Bar Istifanus Bala Gambar, Rev
Markus Musa (CAN Chairman, Tafawa
Balewa) and Emmanuel (Chairman NL,
Tafawa Balewa).

“I find it worrisome that there has been
no official advice from the police relating to
this credible threat to our lives to enable us
to beef up security around us or just to be
careful about our movements.
“More so, there is a spike in cases of
kidnappings and killings by unknown
gunmen, especially in Lere District of
Tafawa Balewa. A case in point was the
attack at Boto town where some relations
of a former Governor of the State were
killed while some were abducted.

“In view of the deteriorating security
situation in Tafawa Balewa LGA where the
suspect comes from, I wish to appeal to
you to use your good offices to ensure that
a thorough and all-encompassing
investigation is carried out so that all those
in the loop are apprehended and brought
to book in order to restore lasting peace in
the Lere District of Tafawa Balewa LGA.
“With all due respect, this is a matter that
must not be handled with kid gloves.”

Nairaland / General / Nigerian Army Breaks Silence After 243 Soldiers Voluntarily Leave The Army by amzee(m): 4:02pm On Aug 20, 2022
The Nigerian Army, in a post on Facebook,
has recently broken silence following the
voluntary discharge of about 243 soldiers
from the Armed Force. In the post that
was shared on the official Facebook page
of the Nigerian Army on Saturday, 20th
August 2022, the Nigerian revealed that
the voluntary retirement or discharge of
soldiers is a routine in the Nigerian army.

The Nigerian Army also pointed that there
has been an allegation that soldiers of the
Nigerian Army have been voluntarily retiring from the Armed Force because of alleged corruption, poor service conditions and low morale.

While refuting this allegation, the Nigerian Army said that the allegation is nothing but a concoction of the imagination of the unrepentant enemies of the nation.

Further in the post, the Nigerian Army
explained that the Armed Force is not a
conscript Army and that the recruitment of
soldiers into the Force is voluntary with
extant policy on discharge and retirement
of soldiers.

The Armed Force explained that this
provides its personnel the opportunity to
apply for voluntary discharge whenever
they deem fit and meet the terms and
conditions as described in the Harmonized
Terms and Conditions of Service soldiers/
ratings/airmen (Revised) 2017.

According to the post, the Nigerian Army
explained that it is for this reason that the
Chief of Army Staff, Faruk Yahaya, granted the approval for 91 NA/32/4792 Wo Ndagana Ishiaku and 242 others to voluntarily discharge from the Nigerian Army.

What is your take on this subject matter
brought about by the Nigerian Army, why
do you think some soldiers are applying for
voluntary discharge from the Nigerian
Army and what do you think can be done
to reduce this cases?

Politics / Playstore Officially Lists JAGABAN Mobile App by amzee(m): 7:18pm On Aug 11, 2022
LAGOS – The Jagaban mobile App
which was developed by the Asiwaju
Ahmed Tinubu Support Group (AATSG) has
been listed officially listed on PlayStore.

With this development, the App can now
be downloaded on PlayStore and installed
on any Andriod device to interact with
AATSG in real-time.

The National Chairman and Convener of
the group which sponsored and made App
a reality, Otunba Abdulfalil Abayomi Odunowo, in a statement signed by Hon. Sampson Atasia Oburu, AATSG National Publicity Secretary, reveals that the iOS version is coming up shortly.

Otunba Odunowo said the idea of the App
became necessary as a matter of urgency
because of the fake news and false stories
of the APC Presidential candidate making
the rounds, he said, predicated the launch
of the Jagaban App so people can get the
true stories.

Displeased at the enormity of the damage
fake news is doing to the country’s
nascent democracy, Odunowo said it is
rapidly breeding animosity, hatred and
bitterness amongst the electorate and
Nigerians.

Odunowo called on supporters of other
presidential candidates to eschew
unpleasant words and songs that may be
capable of creating tension and heating
the process, saying this may escalate to
the breaking down of peace, law, and
order.

The National Chairman called on the
supporters of Asiwaju not to be perturbed
and swayed by the unwarranted attacks but rather they should focus on raising more support and winning their various units, wards and LGAs in the coming Presidential Elections.

He used the opportunity to congratulate all
new members of the group, especially the
Members of the Board of Trustees of
AATSG, saying AATSG is the fastest
growing support group in Nigeria today
backed by its’ Grand Patron and the
Chairman of the BoT, HE Kashim Shettima.

Romance / Footballer Represented By His Brother At His Wedding, gives Reasons (photos) by amzee(m): 7:33pm On Aug 07, 2022
Mohamed Buya Turay is a highly unique instance among the many footballers whose weddings garner media attention.

Due to the fact that he sent his brother to stand in for him at the altar because he could not attend his own wedding, the 27-
year old Sierra Leonean player has become quite well-known. Due to his recent signing with Malmö of Sweden and their need for him to join his colleagues as soon as possible, Buya Turay was unable to attend.

"We were getting married on July 21 in
Sierra Leone. But I couldn't be there
because Malmö asked me to arrive earlier,
the attacker told Swedish newspaper
Aftonbladet:

"We took the photos beforehand, so it
looks like I was there, but I was not. My
brother represented me at the royal
wedding, "he revealed."

His wedding ceremony, scheduled for July
21 in his home country, was
overshadowed by the transfer to Malmö
from Henan Songshan Longmen of China.
It was logical that Mohamed Buya Turay
would not be able to be in both places at
the same time, so he asked his brother to
take his place and meet his bride, Suad
Baydoun, at the altar.

One of the photos of his wedding that
Mohamed Buya Turay posted on his social
networks.

The striker had taken some pictures with his bride, with whom he had finalized the civil union in Sierra Leone before flying to Sweden, but he was not present at his own religious ceremony or wedding celebration. And now he must wait to be reunited with her, despite the fact that they have planned a trip before the end of the year.

"I'm going to try to take her to Sweden and Malmö right now so she can be near me."
She will be relocating with me. "Let's first win the league, and then I'll take my honeymoon,"
he also remarked.

Photo of his bride and stand in
brother

He made his debut for Malmö on Thursday
in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers,
coming off the bench in a 3-0 win over
Luxembourg's F91 Dudelange. Mohamed
Buya Turay came on in the 82nd minute
and played the final moments of the
match.

Buya Turay has experience playing in
Sweden, having won the Allsvenskan in
2019 while on loan at Djurgrdens IF, where
he was also the league's top scorer. He
now returns to Swedish soccer after spells
with Hebei China Fortune and Henan
Songshan Longmen of the Chinese elite.

This process of observing yourself, allows you to grow and blossom into the person that anyone will want a relationship with.

We’re all very clear about what we expect from another person, but why should someone date you?

A man's list of requirements looks something like this: She must be good looking, slim, kind, independent, not moody, same religion and loyal e. t. c.

Before you get into a relationship, take some time to really get to know yourself.

Look at what you expect from another person and see how you can be that for yourself. You want someone to make you laugh but do you have a sense of humour?

I went to INEC office in Nassarawa local government in Kano for registration. I greeted the security man in charge of application form in Islamic way and I told him I want to register for voters card. He looked at me carefully and told me there is no form that I should come another day. I stood there not up to two minutes and another man who is an Hausa man came. The security man greeted him and gave him form to fill. I was surprised.

I complained to some of the people in the INEC premises who are Muslims from yoruba and Igbo lands. They all complained about the discrimination. I went to one of the offices and complained. I was told to wait. I waited for a long time, no response. I went back again to the office and the man disrespectfully told me to come back tomorrow.

This is not right at all.
Go to INEC office at Nomansland close to police station, you will be attended to. I did mine there

Romance / Re: My Girlfriend Called Me A Coward Because Of This. by amzee(m): 1:47pm On Jul 19, 2022
ublight:
So guys, yesterday I took my babe out to just sit out and have a swell time together in one of those lounges in uyo. I was with 3k physical cash, and my gtb debit card had over 60k. All was just for flexing.

My new Samsung galaxy barely 2 months old was in my pocket and guys I value this fone more than any other property of mine at the moment. The fone is my cash cow. The fone usually makes between 30 to 40k for me weekly.

So straight to the matter, babe said she wanted to get pizza first so we headed to domino's. Just few meters away from domino's is uniuyo town campus, and the gate also doubles as a park. And as u know, where there is a park, there are touts.

Omo four guys started shouting and pointing at me. 'na him be that. Na him be that. Catch am'.

I didn't know what to do so I kept going. I told babe to walk ahead of me like she didn't know me. I didn't know what to expect and I didn't want to involve her cos I was sure those guys were coming towards my direction. As least I am a guy I can always find an escape route.

These touts/cultists came towards me and claimed that I slept with their capons babe. That they will deal with me. I told them they were mistaken cos I don't fornicate .

Mehn dey began to cap. Telling me dey are vikings (like I even care. Who viqueens epp). I was scared, more than scared as dey started requesting for my fone and checking me for cash.

I swore they would not even touch my fone. What nonsense! Taking that fone would be equivalent to dragging me backwards for two years.

I jumped into one mini bus nearby and told d driver to zoom off that I will pay him. The driver being a b*tch ass nigga told me he didn't want any problems with those guys that I should leave his vehicle. Mehn my breathing heightened - an evidence that I was nervous to the peak.

I stepped out of the mini bus, and by this time it was already becoming a scene. Folks thought I was guilty of something nobody wanted to help. Their voices drowned mine their hands were all over me.

I just thought within my self that I wasn't gonna be used for suya by irresponsible and degenerates whose lives and future had been harzaded and wrecked. Heck these guys were gone past redemption. I doubt their mothers would weep over their dead bodies. I'm pretty sure their mothers had laid curses on them, regretted not aborting them. Their fathers drunk and useless, old beggars. Probably dead.

Babe was watching from a distance. She felt helpless. She would have come closer to help but I knew that was useless. I kept maintaining eye contact with her warning her not to come any closer. I could see the tears we'll up in her eyes. I felt broken, but I could not let it end that way.

I remembered the story of those uniport guys that were burnt many years ago cos of false alarm. I told myself that wasn't my lot.

Something just kept delaying these God forsaken souls from carrying out their heinous act immediately. Seems like they were waiting for more of their crew. The just kept holding on to me but took nothing.

Trust gen z's to pull out their fones to capture the moment. Foolish children. Instead of trying to find out the reason for the commotion, they felt at ease to capture and encourage the commotion.

One Rick shaw rider just slowed down to see what was going on. I saw an opportunity present itself and I was grateful. I forced my self closer to the keke. The man was uncomfortable with me approaching so he tried to move away. As he doubled his acceleration, I quadrupled mine.

Confused, he decided he was not going to watch anymore before he got involved in something bigger than he had bargained.

As he tried to zoom off, I threw my self into the air. Those boys didn't see that coming. Their grip had loosened. I jumped and clinged on the keke. The rider got more frightened and increased his speed. When we had gone a safe distance, he asked me what happened and I told him. He asked me to check if anything was missing. Gladly only a hundred naira was missing.

This was around 4pm. I told babe to go home that I was gonna see her later. Went to my hood and shared the story with one street og.

Without mentioning the frat to him, nigga told me it had to b vikings. Told me what to do if such happens again. He also tried to get me join his frat to avoid future intimidation. I politely declined, gave him 2k and left.

Got home, called babe to ask her how far. She started laughing and calling me a coward. She meant it as a joke, but it was demasculating and demeaning.

I think I am done with her.
What do you guys think? Am I over reacting?
If you wouldn't mind kindly share with me how you make 30k-40k weekly with your phone?
