DavidEsq:I kindly decline sir. You have to tell me what all these questions are for because i've made my stance clear enough. |
DavidEsq:Keep working out, keep expressing what is being wrought in you, keep bearing fruits of your salvation, for God is the one that wills you to bear fruits and makes it possible |
DavidEsq:Yes, it shows our willingness to obey God, it shows that Christ lives in us. If someone asks a genuine believer to do right, it would not be out of his character. Where he disobeys continuously, it would not be ruthless to question his salvation. |
DavidEsq:I answered you. Yes, the answer is yes but the desire and will power are not ours. You can't do something you have no desire or power or opportunity to do. It brings us back to grace, to Christ |
DavidEsq:You see in Christianity, there is something called a believer's responsibility and accountability. Even though we are instructed to do good works or perform acts of kindness, the ability to do them is not of us but of Him that is dwelling in us. For example Philippians 2,12 will tell us to work out(not work for) our salvation with fear and trembling but that's not all, we are immediately reminded in the next verse who would prompt or cause us to do these things. ...for it is God that works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure Not only does God cause us to desire to live uprightly, He also leads us to live uprightly. There is so much power in the gospel. It is so transforming that it brings dead people who don't know anything, where they are, what surrounds them etc to life. Ephesians 2;1-10. I like how vs 10 emphasised why we are saved in the first place. Apart from the fact that everyone's salvation is preplanned, God already built a framework that we Christians would walk in. We are like His masterpiece, Him moulding, shaping us for His glory. We can't come out any other way. God had this already. |
DavidEsq:These are passages that actually highlight what i've said. Because the God who said, Out of darkness light shall shine, is the One who shined in our hearts to illuminate the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God and not out of us. 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. Galatians 2:20 That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith. Ephesians 3:17 Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27 |
DavidEsq:Actually, the christian life is Christ living His life in you through faith. No extra effort needed from you. Imagine Christ living through you, everything you do would be right, except you can't imagine Him having such power over you ![]() |
The only way to be holy is to abandon your ''righteous'' works and trust only in the complete work of Christ on the cross. Faith in Christ, Christ in you, is your holiness before God. |
EVarn:Hmm don't get |
Ferisidowu:O yes I'm even following him. One of the first people I got to know here. |
EVarn:What does it look like to you? |
Ferisidowu:It's true. God will always bring us to the knowledge of the truth. Because of the new hearts given us, we would humbly accept the fact that salvation is of God. Like a child we just want to know that our Father is in charge and rest. Him taking all the praise gives us delight... Yeah our shortcomings. We fall and fail so many many times. Sometimes as if we are lost again. But God never let's go. That assurance just gives me peace and makes me cry. To know God has completely forgiven me of all my sins. What mercy. What grace. What peace that we can never earn! Altar calls. Lol they are no good. Most times the sermon you hear from the pulpit does not open the heart. Why call for it. People don't get saved at altars but in their hearts and after that they confess it. And all this according to God's sovereign will and time. |
Statsocial:Atheists were not born so. They started off as false believers like many of the people you defend. Some were even "Pastors" and "teachers" before they got tired of the whole thing. Their faith was built on false hope and promises. They had simple mental faith but not saving faith. It was just a matter of time. Can't you see that it is very easy to abandon Christianity in this age because of all the errors that have piled up because you defenders of wolves would descend on anyone that dared to question errors and false gospels. It was because of people like you that lies thrived. No one was suppose to call out errors or strange doctrines or behaviours. We were supposed to live it to God even when the Bible said we should judge righteously. Today instead of pastors who would guide the flock, we have wolves fleecing the sheep. Instead of the gospel of the cross that saves men we have false gospels based on merit and prosperity. Why won't people mock Christianity? Why won't atheists be everywhere? Your so called pastors were in a better position to preach the gospel that saves but they are busy robbing people of everything even their souls. Atheists are not saved. They were lied to. Now they've turned against you. You want them to come back as false Christians. What difference when they are doomed anyway like your jet flying pastor$$ |
Ferisidowu:Yeah those 1-3 points are very correct. People would not argue against God's sovereignty and election if they centred their argument around God and His glory. But man is too full of himself. Faith by A W Pink. I will add it to my list. I hope I read it soon. Atheists? I just pray for them now. I was a sceptic too before God saved me by the power of the Gospel. I'd never know why He did but I know it had nothing to do with me because like everyone I wasn't born seeking for Him. But God changed everything. I was a Catholic before my salvation and a legionary. But after I got born again I aligned more with the Catholic charismatics. They made me stay for a while. That was about 5yrs ago. I'm a sis. |
salvation101:Whatever terminologies you use. David was not referring to our common atheists, he was referring to hypocrites. If you want to call them atheists at heart but theist in profession, it still doesn't change the fact that David was referring to false believers who say they are for God but have no place for Him in their hearts |
Ferisidowu:I am so happy for you brother. Natural man cannot grasp these doctrines that give us comfort because that would make God seem wicked to them. It has to be those whom He has chosen to grant the things of the Kingdom and whose hearts have been changed that would understand and be consoled. Amen. Saving faith is so different from simple faith. I even opened a thread about it one time. It is saving faith that produces righteous works. |
Ferisidowu:Thank you for stopping by. Yes true!!! I've not read every bit of it but I have come to that understanding by God's grace that He is in charge of everything and man still responsible for his sins. I should be a Presbyterian but where I live there is none for now. |
salvation101:Psalm 14:1 Nope I use to think David was referring to atheists. David was referring to hypocrites who say there is God but live as though there is none...that's why the fool says it in his heart and not in the open. In the open he acts as "righteous" as everyone but in the secret chambers of his heart, he has no fear or thought of God. He does whatever he likes, interprets everything to his interest because "God does not matter" . In other words the right interpretation of that perfectly fits the false Christians and Pastors. Atheists were false believers who got tired of the whole charade. |
Be careful you might become one soon if you are a false Christian. It's just a thin line btw. False Christians and atheists are under the devil's control. He might change your department soon to keep you in check! |
Statsocial:False practice of Christianity gives rise to atheism. And the last time I checked you are a strong defender of false teachers, false hope and thievery in Christianity. I'd rather that people are atheists than shameless idolaters who have exchanged the Glory of God for cheap material gains. You do more harm to Christianity than millions of atheists. Don't be afraid of what you have created. The only difference btw a false Christian and an atheist is that the atheist is more likely to retain common sense a bit. |
Tosinex:Blind you. Those poor ladies are self-rigtheousness personified. There is nothing wrong with dressing decent or doing good but when it is done with the wrongest intentions like in this case: "of becoming holy" "of going to heaven" "of fear of hell" "because that's how we dress" there you have works based righteousness. This is not what Christ Jesus died for. His death gave the sinner life eternal, righteousness, holiness freely. And any attempt to attain again that which He has attained is an insult to the Spirit of Grace. Learn Grace, Learn Mercy. The Son of God died for our freedom not for us to remain in bondage. It is in this freedom that we find the power to overcome the flesh. Rest in the finished work of Christ. And overcome your lust. It is not through rules that you do this, it is through the grace of God. If Christ death isn't enough, you are full of pride in your abilities to please God. And what else do you have if you deem what Christ did on the cross as vain or common? Deny this all you want but in the deepest part of your hearts you know you don't trust Christ's death enough and don't even understand it but would pride let you? If Christ's death isn't enough, what else do you have? Your dead works? your good deeds? They are filthy before God. There is only one thing that can save you. It is Christ's death. If it doesn't nothing else can. I am a fool to you but I don't care as long as I have the wisdom Of Christ. |
greatnaija01:You spoke well. Try having a Christian conversation with people that dress like this. You will see how empty 99.9% of the time they are. They have barely experienced the power of the cross, the grace that truly converts the inner man and produces genuine fruits. This outward appearance is pride in self and a failed attempt to imitate real holiness. |
5solas: Thanks for the mention but your second post did justice to the verse. |
asuustrike2009:LOL your tithe-gospel is among the false gospels |
lalanice:Yes dear. The apostasy is sure beyond Nigeria. It just seems like we are at the lowest of all lows. |
BluntBoy:God bless you too brother |
Nigerian churches are just nothing but social gatherings. From self righteous hypocritical deeper life to money loving Winners chapel. They are nothing but spiritual whores who have exchanged the precious love of Christ for temporary gain and selfish love for heaven Stay at home and read your Bible until you find brothers and sisters who fear God. Then share what you have with him or her or them as the case may be. God is not in any of these mainstream churches but where two or three are gathered in His name (not gathered because they have to please others) He is there in their midst. In Hebrews 10:25 It says not neglecting the gathering of ourselves not phony Christians or wolves or worshippers of men but ourselves, genuine believers in Christ abiding by faith in the Word of God. If this people are not available better to stay at home and wait on God. Fellowship with false Christians is equal to dining with the enemies of God. These people are haters of God and their bellies are their gods. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is ; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25 He said when two or three are gathered in His name He is there in their midst Seems to me that God was referring more to times like this where Christians would be very few and scattered abroad. |
DeSepiero:Okay. 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf. Hebrews 2:9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. John 10:15 even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. John 11:50 nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish." John 18:14 Now Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the people. John 11:51 Now he did not say this on his own initiative, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation. Romans 4:25 He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification. Romans 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Hebrews 9:15 For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. Etc |
Jesus died for sinners. He came for that one purpose. He knew it, He foretold it, He bragged about it. He wanted it. He was prepared for it. He didn't like the death and pains and disgrace but He loved the people He came to save. He wasn't praying to God to take the burden away, He wasn't complaining, He was showing the importance of God's word over man's emotions. When God wants to grant man an insight to His Wisdom and power . He expresses Himself like man. Despite being Almighty, all knowing, all powerful Jesus had chosen to shield all that to express the seriousness of His dying on the cross. You know how serious it is when a curse is placed on anyone that preaches another gospel. |
Desyner:Summary of your post= Christ died in vain. |
PaChukwudi44:No one said you should profess sola scriptura. Even the meaning is often misconstrued. I am saying the Bible should be the final determiner of all doctrines. Traditions like praying to Mary or saints or the use of beads and idols are clearly not biblical and should be shut out. The catholic church existed centuries before the Christian canon otherwise called the bible existed.BTW No catholic practise is at variance with the bibleThis is a blatant lie and heresy. Christianity started in Israel, Catholicism is an offshoot of "distorted" Christianity that started in Rome. Lol you are joking. You can't be all against Pentecostalism if you can't remove that big log in your eye. |
As much as I am against the false doctrine of tithing, I don't think the Catholic Church has any spiritual justification to speak on any Christian matter since they are the first to deny the supreme and final authority of the Bible. And keep traditions that are at variance with fundamental truths of Christianity. If people are going to condemn a rot, they should in all its entirety. Modern Pentecostal Christianity is not biblical and so is Catholicism. |
