You fit the saying that you can't teach a old dog new tricks. There's nothing like monetary tithe or any weird classification in the Bible. Bible speaks of tithes simply as a tenth. Abraham gave tithe of ALL. Nobody died.

The tithers keep on using the story of Abraham, as a tool to help support their God to draw in a cash flow into the Church-these crazy stories are from tithers that don't study the Word Of God.
Abraham gave 10% to the high priest only because it was a custom to give the tithe, 10% of sheep goats and the first fruits of the harvest.
And then he gave everything else to the kings that didn't belong to Abraham. Everything!
Because Abraham knew none of it belonged to God, and of course it didn't belong to Abraham, God had blessed Abraham because Abraham believed God and worshipped God multiple times.
These days Churches are teaching the wrong messages, and people are receiving the wrong attitude, tithing 10% to retrieve 30, 60, 100 fold back guarantee.
Would tithers be like Abraham given all what He had, or would they keep a little just in case?

In addition, the Newbreed Christian tithe law which demands that people should bring a 10% of salary (money) didn't originate from the Bible.
Jews gave a 10% of farm produce for the temple store house. There was money then yet nobody was asked to tithe money.
Jews had a tithe break and observed jubilee.
Jews also ate tithe ( referring to farm produce) with strangers and poor among them at some seasons.
Concerning Abraham, the period before the law, he was only recorded to have given tithe just once in his lifetime. And it was not his earnings but spoils of war.
People who give a 10th of salary to a Church are not different from the person who gives 0.5% of his/her salary as both givings are rightly offerings.
10% of one's salary does not represent the Jewish tithe or the tithe Abraham gave once.
In some Church enterprises they load people with guilt of not paying tithes as if it is a crime against a Christian law punishable by dearth of all financial incomes in the non-tithers life. Some devised a means of stratifying the Church goers in their buildings into tithers (just bring something), non-tithers and faithful tithers (bring 10%) in a register just like the twitter user observed.
Now, this is far from the truth.
The blessings of God in Christ Jesus is accessible to all who truely believe in the completed work of Christ. That blessings does not depend on 10% salary or profit submission and the blessings does not select people based on tithe.
If men of gods were God not only will they ostracize people from Churches for not submitting a 10% of salary, they will create a special Hell of suffering for people who do not obey the order. They can't do either of them.
