InvertedHammer: / Every society has some evils they contend with. Nigeria has homosexuality/lesbianism (starting from secondary schools), cradle-snatching (mostly in the North), etc. Laws are made to protect citizens from such vices. Nigerians are against homosexuality/lesbianism, not because they are in denial of its existence in the society, rather they do not want the government to give it a stamp of approval. / And that's what these dullards supporting this abnormality cannot see. |

Christianity Etc › Re: My Whatsapp Chat With A New Young Pastor In My Church As Regard Tithing by An2elect2(f): 2:14pm On Jun 29, 2015 |
WinsomeX: The tithes and offerings mentioned in Malachi 3 is not the same tithes and offerings collected in our churches today.
1. The tithes of Malachi 3 was meat or food:
Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house...
And scriptures informs us what this food items were:
Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD... 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
These food items were agricultural products: fruit of the tree, seed of the ground and tenth of the herd.
The tithe of Malachi 3 was not money, talk less salary.
2. The offerings of Malachi 3 was not money either. This is what the Levitical offerings consisted of:
Leviticus 7:37 This is the law of the burnt offering, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings;
This verse comes at the close of God's instructions to Moses after enacting the levitical offerings. It offers us quick summary of what their offerings were. There is no "money" offering among any. What the church gives in the name of offerings could best be called collections, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2. No one collected offerings talk less tithes in the New Testament. At most they collected a "collection" for a purpose and after that purpose was met, everyone kept their monies to themselves.
Modern tithing is a perversion of the Christian gospel and the practice should be discontinued with.
If however anyone feels the best way to honor God is to give a tenth of his income, he has not sinned. However, the church should encourage free will purposeful giving and not mandatory legalistic tithing and offerings. Amen brother ! |

daroz: That's all for the chat for now. As stated in the chat, I will love someone to convince me on this tithe issue, I want to be sure I am not doing the thing by not paying. Blessed are you who have been given insight. Hold on to this truth that you know. Let no man deceive you ! Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;2cor 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. |

Well said! @ the last paragraph. I can't see any contradictions...maybe overlapping but definitely not contradictions.
The bible makes perfect sense to me and funny enough different narratives of some events and unclear explanations of some things fostered my belief in the authenticity of the Word of God.
God, wilfully allowed these, it was easy for Him to write like men, straightforward, easy but He chose instead to write in such a way that only those who know the author should understand His book. |

The poster above me o There are only two groups in Christendom. They are: 1. The wheat 2. The tares The wheat comprises of those who have been washed by the blood of the lamb, who believe and stand for the truth even if it cost them their lives. They are people who have experienced the new birth in Christ and are partakers of his death. They love and rejoice in the truth. And hate the lie. They are so few but got a billion trillion army right behind them. They are over comers. Their gospel is offensive to men and for this reason they are hated. Not deterred by this, they still love. Did i say they are the most misunderstood? The tares are similar in appearance but the exact opposite of the wheat. They are denominated by their private interpretation of the word and traditions. Even though, they speak like they are for Christ, they are simply after their selfish interest. To them, Christ is a sure means not the end. They only have a profession without life. They are blind but claim to have sight. They hate the truth and hence the instruments of truth They are fine with half truth and lies, just anything that keeps them at ease IN ZION! They are compromisers and always ready to spite the wheats for standing their ground. The hate the wheats more than they hate the devil, that is if they hate him at all. They are so large in number. In short they are not scarce. You see them everywhere you go. They love the world and seek love and acceptance from the world. Their lives are mirrored after the world but decorated with "feel good Jesus messages" And the world love them cos they are ONE! They can be found in any church out there |
Christianity Etc › Re: How Jesus Reacted To The Worship Of Mary by An2elect2(f): 12:05pm On Jun 28, 2015 |
Catholics worship a certain Mary not the Mary of the bible of course because if she were here she will rebuke them totally.
When i was a catholic, a priest tried explaining that passage to mean some kind of special blessing accrued to Mary. And He said something like "blessed are those who hear the word and keep it LIKE MARY" I almost believed Him but i knew something was wrong with his interpretation. Jesus didn't say LIKE MARY. Where did he get that from? i thought! And how Jesus swiftly responded to the woman's words, bothered me,but all these things did not deter me from continuing with catholicism until God opened my eyes and pulled me out...I prolly would have still been a catholic. |
