@Andre Uweh,
we have but a very weak ohanaeze ndi ara whose political interests have over-taken the real objectives of the organisation.
it is important you go and find out what the differences are between a preasure group and a political group.
do you know what it means excite a ppl? in the heat of the northerners demanding for a zoning arrangement that will see them be the next president, a preasure group(ohanaeze) came out to openly support an anti north arrangement. that alone cld expose the igbos living in the north to the brutalities of the northern madmen.
i wld want to take u to an incident that happened in ivory coast when GEJ threatened military action against the gbagbo led govt. the citizens showed their anger on nigerian embassy in their country.
if that ohanaeze ndigbo leader had what it takes to decide for ndigbo when it comes to vote, he shld also have what it takes to finance whatsoever course ndigbo have.
Please show some respect to Ohanaeze. Tough you have some good ideas.

PoliticsRe: The Ideal Ohanaeze Ndigbo by AndreUweh(m): 4:52pm On Jan 12, 2011
Mazi Ihuoma has done well.
The biggest problem of Ohanaeze is finance. Without finance Ohanaeze will struggle to carry out its objectives. At the moment, states sponsor Ohanaeze. Apart from Enugu state other states find it difficult to pay their subsciptions. In Yorubaland, almost all the LGA's makes financial support to Afenifere, but it is not same in Igboland.
On Ohanaeze website. Igbo individuals and groups can assist in this aspect. We still have to thank Izu Anioma for initiating the first move. Christ Embassy's loveworld TV and website are maintained by members, why can't Ndigbo assist the apex body in this region considering the abundance of manpower of Igbo people with expert IT skills.
On Ohanaeze Ndigbo strightly for Ndigbo. It has always been an entire Igbo affair.
On security, Ohanaeze can not venture into such motive as the issue of security is the property of the fed govt.
On heading back to Alaigbo from the north. It may be a good idea but we should note that Ndigbo have been living in that region for 100 years now.
On GEJ. Ohanaeze looks into every aspect of life of Ndigbo including politics. Ndigbo needed a guidance from Ohanaeze, and the apex body gave them what they already have after wide consultations.
At the moment, we have to look into how individuals and bodies can help the apex Igbo body-Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo.

Tippy Top:
I thought the Fed Govt at the time did everything to assimilate the "Igbos" back into Nigeria.
The Igbos got back the houses they built in other States. Some of them with money in their bank account before the war were able to withdraw their money after the war. Gowon had a policy of
"No Victor No vanguished".
Let's take everything into context because most secessionist movement know their people risk losing all e.g the Tamil people of Sri Lanka.
Nonetheless, only a fool would say the Igbos are not incredibly industrous.
My father had £4,000:00 in his account before the outbreak of the civil war. He got only £20:00 back.
My uncle's house in Port Harcourt has not been giving back to him till date.

Akhenaten:
Yes, the Igbo race is a special lot. After suffering so much, we have been able to bounce back and make incredible gains. However, all is not well with the Ndi Igbo. Many of our brothers and sisters who were Igbo prior to the war, have tried to create their own ethnicities.

And Igbo language is under threat of extinction, due to many Igbos believing that it is better to teach their children English. What a shame!

I am a proud Igbo man and will always be proud of my people. We have endured a lot, but we are still here.
Some of those Igbo people who hitherto disclaimed Igbo are coming back to their senses. Am happy this is happening at the time when those parents who disclaimed Igbo are still alive.

@Afam:The FA in England, wales Scotland and Ireland were formed before FIFA. When FIFA was formed, they all registered as independent bodies and it has remained like that till date.
The issue of Scotland yard is like having Cameroun street in Abuja and a govt parastatal located there.
Prince of Wales, Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Conwall etc are mere titles given by the head of state to nobles.
The queen was crowned as the Queen of United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, not just England.
Gordon Brown is a Scot not English.
The U.K is about 60 million and England alone is 50 million. Scotland 5 million, Wales 3 and N.Ireland 2 million.

Yes that is the wayo being played.Alj harem is from Kanuri but his "we" includes Hausa,Nupe,Yoruba(Kogi + Kwara),Fulani and hundreds of others.

Until we in the South see ourselves as one entity, the North remains majority.
Prior to 1935, there was one southern Nigeria with the capital at Enugu. Then her Majesty's govt split the south into 2 namely east and west. Since then the south has not been one.
The idea of one south with the capital at Enugu will be novel.

CultureRe: Should 'osu Cast System' In Some Parts Of Igbo Land Be Abolished? by AndreUweh(m): 1:17am On Jan 09, 2011
I would so much love to see this tradition abolished in Igboland. In my own particular community, none exists. But two communities south of mine has it in some families. The Eze of the community is prepared to assist with the eradication of this stigma. However some natural forces beyond his control has hindered this task. For example, heavy downpour has disrupted activities on two occasions on days set aside for this task.
Death and dying has also threatened those spearheading the abolition movement.
Perhaps, there is a lot to it which we may not know.
