I disagree with Mr Gbonije here. I think a state should be created from the existing Delta state. Since 1951, the people of Delta North have been clamouring for a separate state of their own, and if a state should be carved out from the South South zone of Nigeria. Delta North should get it and it should be called Anioma state.

No new State in Delta, please
SIR: Everybody, state, nation or country is phenomenally individuated and seraphically made special by its peculiar idiosyncrasies. A kind of cherubic microcosm in a macrocosm and a special species with a unique identity. That is what Delta state (The Big Heart) is in the comity of states in Nigeria.
Nigeria is a nation formed as a result of the agglomeration of different heterogeneous groups of peoples and states. It is indeed a rainbow coalition. There are states, but some states are more stately than the others. Right from the Willinks Commission's Mandate 1957/1958 on the rights of the minorities, the creation of the Mid-Western Region, Mid-West state and Bendel state, our Delta state was lurking at the back waiting to be born.
Its parturition came to reality on August 27, 1991 and ever since then we have not looked back. We remain the best all-round state, notwithstanding the vicissitudes precipitated by the sons of perdition and horrendous corruption perpetrated by the workers of political and tribal iniquities. Deltans are blessed with Davidic Graces and Solomonic sagacity. Delta has Clay, Glass-sand, gypsum, Granite, Iron Ore, Kaolin, Lignite, and Marble etc. We are one of the largest Oil/Gas producers in Nigeria and by African quantity configuration the 7th in Africa and the 26th in the World not as a Nigerian state but as a Delta Nation.
Our tourism potentials are indescribably great in Warri, Sapele, Asaba, Ughelli, Obiaruku, Orerokpe, Koko, Ugbangue, Okobia etc. We are the investors' paradise and distinction in the light of fiscal facilities, low crime rate and land availability etc. We have fertile land, luxurious and prolific growth of rubber, palm trees, cocoa, timber and aquatic abundance etc.
Deltans believe in the principles of "Arbeit Macht Frei" (work makes you free). This is our greatest weapon. We want to let every Nigerian know that whether they wish us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to ensure the survival, development, unity and the pre-eminent comeliness of Delta state.
The call for the creation of any state out of the present Delta state such a quintessence of greatness is therefore ungodly, wicked, sadistic and unpatriotic. We can call for movement of capitals and structures not a dismemberment of such an awesomely wondrous structure and indeed such a great people. We are indubitably and honestly the Big Heart. But we must do more to make it greater by displaying sincerity in political leadership. Uduaghan must show the way. Delta State - Truly the Big Heart.
Bobson Gbinije,
Warri, Delta State.

ABAGWORO
With due respect, do not mislead some Igbo youths born outside Igboland and who read your posts for awareness. You have done a lot in promoting Igbo culture via nairaland. For you to make the comments above is unexpected of you. Please note that what you write here is being read globally. Please, represent well. IGBO is it.

@buchio7, thanks for your response as I had "feared" attracting some sort of abusive comments. To me, it is from DNA evidence we can get a credible information about how the various ethnic groups in Nigeria got here.

@Andre Uweh, some people from your region have claimed that one of Ibo or Igbo (I cannot recall which in particular) refers to the people and the other refers to the language. I really would like to know the right word so as to avoid unconsciously offending them.
The British spelt it Ibo instead of Igbo. Reason, because they do not have gb in their alphabet. The correct spelling is Igbo just as other posters here have written.
It is very disrespectful to say Ibo.
Why not look at the Igbo apex body and what it is called?. OHA NA EZE NDI IGBO.

I remember PATAKI arguing with me and trying to incriminate his father in this plot. It is just plane foolishness for anyone to still blame a father who reportd his own son. How many fathers would do the same , perhaps these antagonist want his father tohave killed the boy.
Another wise comment. Well done.

This to me is one of the wonders of nature - reminds me of the seasonal migration of various herds across the numerous African landscapes. And I still do not see the logic behind the general statement that "Africans love visiting their rural homes during X-mas." The fact that quite a number of Ibo people do so does not mean that the Ibos are representative of all of Africa. I am not Ibo but I am a Nigerian and it has been almost 2 decades since I was at my hometown.

In addition, the claim about the Ibos linking themselves to the Jews is in my opinion self derogatory. Why is it that the Ibos want to associate themselves with the Jews and not the Jews associating themselves with the Ibos. If they(Ibos who wanna be Jews) like, they can keep regarding the Jews as higher beings. Away to settle this once and for all is to trace their ancestry using DNA evidence. The technology has been available for years and if those Ibos are so confident of Jewish(and not Ibo) roots, they should scientifically back up their claims.
It is IGBO and not Ibo. Respect please.
