With the splitting of the old Oyo state into two-Oyo and Osun, one would have thought that will be the end to that feud.

The ringleades of the Jan 1966 coup were still in jail when Ironsi was murdered. When there is a coup in Nigeria, people are not hurriedly murderd or else, Oladipo Diya and uncle Segei would not have been alive today. It was wrong for the north or Nigeria then to expect Ironsi to turn things around within a month or two.
The ringleaders did not have ethnic sentiments in mind and it should not be seen as an Igbo coup. When Abacha died, Nierians irrespective of tribe celebrated his demise. This was the situation in Jan 66 because a corrupt regime and corrupt officials have been ousted from positions. It was not only Ndigbo that jubiliated but all the Nigerians.
My brother, Igbo people are innocent so take it or leave it.

In this Island I live, through education and career, I have made so many Nigerian friends. Having said that, I am an ethnic Igbo and very happy to serve Igbo organisations here. In our Igbo Youth organisation here, I have brought non Igbos and Non Nigerians to deliver lectures on important topics that affects the globe.
I know you are Yoruba and likes Ndiigbo, how about non Yorubas and non Igbos?.

Gambari can not remain in the UN or offshore forever. He is a Nigeria, and every Nigerian belongs to an ethnic group. After his services with the UN, his skills are still required to move the group forward.
I think if he is given a mandate to head the Afenifere, it will be a big blow to those Kwarans who doubt their Yorubaness. It happened else where in Nigeria last January.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Unfortunately, I will not be there but in 2010 God willing. I am a no Onitsha native but an associate. I love Onitsha culture. I have heard and read so much about Onitsha. Some of my best friends here in the UK are from Onitsha.

Only tiny number of them do that mostly from Agbor and Kwale axis. The Aniochas and the Oshmilis are very proud Igbo. That nothwithstanding, there is Igbo consciousness spreading rapidly over there. Thanks to Uwaechue's, Okonjo's, Edozien's, Achuzia's, Ovia's, Emenanjo's,Okocha's etc.

It is just too early earn such award.

Thats not you should be worried about. What a lot of the Anioma are actually pushing for is to get themselves recognised as a separate ethnic group with their own state called Anioma.

I know about that tiny minority who claim that they are not Igbo (not entire Anioma). So am ready to assist them to relocate to Binin or wherever they say they are from.

How do you kill those who were not in Nigeria that period. Remember, the coup plotters aim was not to kill them but to get them arrested. They refused arrest and the consequence of that was to blow off their brains. This is typical in military commands.

As at 1887 fall of Bini empire, Agbor kingdom existed alongside Bini empire. They waged so many wars against each other. The other less powerful Ika kingdoms might fall under Bini or Nri.
I think the Bini empire flourished more westwards rather than eastwards. At a time the Bini empire stretched up to Lagos.

To ndiigbo worldwide, Iri ji now and days is an encompassing festival that unites Ndiigbo. It is celebrated in Lagos, Abuja, kano, Abidjan, London , Chicago, Munich, Tokyo. The aim is to unify the Igbo people. As a result, Ofala, ekpo, Ikeji, nmowu etc falls under iri ji.
