mekuslogan:That is the best way to shut the mouths of some Delta North people who doubt their Igboness. It is similar to Kwara State. Gambari with his experience and exposure can rebrand the beleaguered Afenifere and also resolve the identity crisis in Kwara state. What do you think Jarus and other Kwarans?. |
Ahu ka nma na o wu onye eze nyuru. It is better that the leader is the one at fault. |
Are there no chiefs in igboland that constitute nuisance to the society?. Didn't they fight over the throne of the Obi of Onitsha after the death of Ofala Okagbue?
Achebe's ascendancy to the throne was keenly contested I must admit, I thank God it's been long over. Now he is sitting majestically in his throne and promoting the culture of the great people of Onitsha. |
Well said but you didn't advocate for the same thing in the obi of Onitsha ofala thread or did you forget you are anti monarchy when you were there?.
I hold the Obi of Onitsha in high esteem. He is not a nuisance. Those two Obas, there wahala dey too much oo!. With the splitting of the old Oyo state into two-Oyo and Osun, one would have thought that will be the end to that feud. |
The ringleades of the Jan 1966 coup were still in jail when Ironsi was murdered. When there is a coup in Nigeria, people are not hurriedly murderd or else, Oladipo Diya and uncle Segei would not have been alive today. It was wrong for the north or Nigeria then to expect Ironsi to turn things around within a month or two. The ringleaders did not have ethnic sentiments in mind and it should not be seen as an Igbo coup. When Abacha died, Nierians irrespective of tribe celebrated his demise. This was the situation in Jan 66 because a corrupt regime and corrupt officials have been ousted from positions. It was not only Ndigbo that jubiliated but all the Nigerians. My brother, Igbo people are innocent so take it or leave it. |
noetic15:Well said. |
Ravenzord I am glad you are making attepts to learn this thy great language. Ndigbo globally who are in the same situation with you are also doing like wise. For example Christine Ijeoma Ohuruogu has been attending her Igbo classes here without stopping. Ji sie ike, asusu Igbo amaka. |
Andre Uweh do you interact with any non-Igbos at all or is your socialization strictly limited to Igbos and Igboids. Rather restrictive, imo. However its a free world and you can mix with who you like anyway. Whatever setting you feel comfortable in.
I interact with all sorts of Nigerians. I have so many Yoruba friends considering the fact my education and Youth service were in Yorubaland. In this Island I live, through education and career, I have made so many Nigerian friends. Having said that, I am an ethnic Igbo and very happy to serve Igbo organisations here. In our Igbo Youth organisation here, I have brought non Igbos and Non Nigerians to deliver lectures on important topics that affects the globe. I know you are Yoruba and likes Ndiigbo, how about non Yorubas and non Igbos?. |
Gambari can not remain in the UN or offshore forever. He is a Nigeria, and every Nigerian belongs to an ethnic group. After his services with the UN, his skills are still required to move the group forward. I think if he is given a mandate to head the Afenifere, it will be a big blow to those Kwarans who doubt their Yorubaness. It happened else where in Nigeria last January. |
Franclin88 Thanks a lot for your reply. Unfortunately, I will not be there but in 2010 God willing. I am a no Onitsha native but an associate. I love Onitsha culture. I have heard and read so much about Onitsha. Some of my best friends here in the UK are from Onitsha. Long live Ofala festival. Long live Onitsha and Anambra people. Long live Igwe Achebe and his campaign for Igbo unity. |
Ezeagu Only tiny number of them do that mostly from Agbor and Kwale axis. The Aniochas and the Oshmilis are very proud Igbo. That nothwithstanding, there is Igbo consciousness spreading rapidly over there. Thanks to Uwaechue's, Okonjo's, Edozien's, Achuzia's, Ovia's, Emenanjo's,Okocha's etc. |
It is just too early earn such award. |
ezeagu:I know about that tiny minority who claim that they are not Igbo (not entire Anioma). So am ready to assist them to relocate to Binin or wherever they say they are from. I am in support of Anioma state creation. |
D.Kanu How do you kill those who were not in Nigeria that period. Remember, the coup plotters aim was not to kill them but to get them arrested. They refused arrest and the consequence of that was to blow off their brains. This is typical in military commands. What do you think would have happened to Shagari and Ekwueme if they had resisted arrest in December 1983?. |

Why are those numbers mobile phone numbers?. You know the problems with mobile phones in Nigeria |
California, Texas, Alaska and Hawaii should split up from the US before Nigeria disintegrates. |
I hereby offer to assist any Ika family who wants to relocate to Benin and leave Igboland. |
Not by interview, but by election. |
citizenY:As for UN job, count him out. His next move should be to head Afenifere. Do you not want the Afenifere to move ahead?. Jarus, please fall in. |
It will not be Africa's turn during his life time. Gambari is an achiever. I think, the most thing to happen to him is to head the Afenifere. I have my reasons. |
tamme:You deliberately exhumed this topic so that Ndigbo and Yorubas will insult each other. Please stop it. |
franclin88:My brother do not go there. You have Europeans and Americans in Nigerian universities who are authorities in Nigerian sociology, history, politics, agriculture, economics etc. On the other hand, you have Nigerians here in the UK lecturing in English language.,history, ecomomics etc. Most researchers of Onitsha culture are not from Onitsha and that is life. Anyway, the topic is on Ofala festival. Would you be there?. What do you know about Ofala festival?. |
ezeagu:As at 1887 fall of Bini empire, Agbor kingdom existed alongside Bini empire. They waged so many wars against each other. The other less powerful Ika kingdoms might fall under Bini or Nri. I think the Bini empire flourished more westwards rather than eastwards. At a time the Bini empire stretched up to Lagos. |
The 1st commentator-Sola Ola is the least intelligent. He does not know the ethnic composition of the south south belt. I here by use this medium to tell him that NdiIgbo is the largest ethnic group in that block. |
Abagworo God bless you. This same message is what we have been preaching to them since the starting of this thread, yet they will not understand. I am sure, this is the best way to close this thread. You have done justice to the topic. |

To ndiigbo worldwide, Iri ji now and days is an encompassing festival that unites Ndiigbo. It is celebrated in Lagos, Abuja, kano, Abidjan, London , Chicago, Munich, Tokyo. The aim is to unify the Igbo people. As a result, Ofala, ekpo, Ikeji, nmowu etc falls under iri ji. |

Thats not you should be worried about. What a lot of the Anioma are actually pushing for is to get themselves recognised as a separate ethnic group with their own state called Anioma.
