It is very shameful that even my Igbo brothers here write Ibo instead of Igbo. When will this madness stop?. |
That is not Owerri and will never be Owerri. Owerri does not have a sea side, beach, wharf, boats, anchors etc. This is unlike your posting A-Emeka. |
Ndi ono ngono-a very powerful political group in Imo state. It means the immovables. |
ezeagu:High heel shoe--Agbagha (as in Etiti and Nsu areas). Park-Mbara. |
chic2pimp:Chic make you take am izzy na. no be by force. However, there are more people interested in bride than those those in the opposing camp. |
Considering that this is a hurriedly assembled team, many Nairalanders did not give them a chance of making progress. Surprise, let it keep coming. Up Nigeria. |
I do not know why people find it difficult to write Igbo. By using ibo,you are merely insulting the Igbo people. |
Ozuruimo and Omenaimo are ways of showcasing Igbo culture from the local councils in Imo state. I participated in the 1993 edition of this cultural feast. I was part of Agu-Okonko team that represented Etiti that year. In attendance that year was Pericomo Okoye from Aro Ndizuogu. There were other attractions such as pouring of palm wine into an empty basket yet it did not leak. That was performed by Oru Uwazie from Ihitte Uboma LGA. I miss home so much. |
This poster and his likes are the ones bringing separation in Igboland. To the poster, there is no real Igbo or fake Igbo. Nobody is more Igbo than his or her neighbour. There is nothing like Ibos. It is Igbo people or Ndigbo or the Igbo. From Obollo- afor in the north to Diobu in the South From Igbanke in the west to Arochukwu in the east. Any one from this square is an Igbo. |
Omenuko is a fictional name. This is according to to the author Pita Nwana. My curiosity is this, who is the original Omenuko?. My research is leading to the Mbadiwes but not so sure. |
This indeed is a very STUPENDOUS post. |
skybeauty:O ga diri gi nma nkpuru nwa. O ga dikwa onye Igbo obula nma. Chukwu go zie asusu Igbo. The Igbo language will not die or go extinct. As a result, the association of Igbo Youths UK also known as www.icsn.co.uk does organise Igbo language classes for members every month. Anyi ga na ebulite asusu Igbo elu. Igbo anaghi anwu anwu. |
There are so many threads on bride price in this culture section. Nevertherless, bride price and dowry is the in thing. |
snowdrops:Which one be ibos again?. Please, use Igbo instead of Ibo. You may use ndigbo instead of Igbos Also, you may use Igbo people or the Igbo instead of Igbos. Nothing like Ibo. IT IS IGBO. |
Ojukwu was just 33 years old then. He made some costly mistakes, but that nothwithstanding, he is a hero. The president-general has said things from his personal perspective and you may agree or disagree. If Nigeria produces a president of Igbo origin, we the Igbo will attack him if he does wrong, but will not deny him. It is the Igbo nature. |
The poster who said that one of the golden eaglets players has played previously for two clubs later apologised and retracted his comments. It was just a mix up. Good or bad, just support the eaglets. |
POSAKOSA1:The poster's post was about wrestling and not just WWE (no longer WWF). |
So you want to tell me that that Mighty Igor vs Ray Apollon match in Lagos around 1984 was fake. With Igo's head smashed open and blood gushing out. How about Ox baker vs Power Uti fight as well?. |
@POSTER. There is no Local council in Imo state called Irebisi. Please verify the actual local council for White George Agwuocha. |
While Awo was on earth, he did not only offend humans, but spirits as well to the extent a mad man had to burn his statute (Awo) in Lagos. This is serious. |
ezeagu:Supported. I hereby suggest as follows 1. Igwe-ocha 2. Diobu or Diobi. |
since Sierra Leone was a base for freed slaves, a lot of tribes met up there. However, the Yoruba ones seemed particularly I've read a few articles about these "Nigerian" ex-slaves. Of course Nigeria came later though. But the Brazilian returnees were settled all along the coastline. They're also in Ghana. Others returned to Nigeria but settled and integrated outside Lagos.
Well said. Even the earliest missionaries in Igboland were Sierra Leoneans of Igbo origin. |
Awo as the premier of Western Region, only cared for the Yoruba people and Yoruba divisions. The Western Nigerian T.V was established in Yorubaland, cocoa house, Liberty stadium, Uni Ife, etc were all in Yorubaland. Despite the fact that rubber and timber that supplied wealth to the West were produced outside Yorubaland. What manner of man is this?. |
pcicero:Good riddance. |
aki and pawpaw:chinedu and osita |

Ikenga nwa Awo omama Biko stop this your attack on your kinsmen. What have they done wrong in this instance?. Enough is enough. |
The riverine people chooses to call the Ikwerres, Igbo when it suits them. Yet, they have constantly made the Ikwerres to see themselves as Ijaws. Wonders shall never end. It is not new in Nigeria to bulldoze slumpy towns. A similar thing happened in Maroko Lagos state in the 90's. I suggest Amaechi abandons this plan. I t is very difficult for people to move away from an area where their children and parents are buried. It is painful. But in the event of any demolition, the Okrikas should be properly rehoused. |
