Right. I have updated the initial post.

Update: Following AndroBlaze suggestion, I combined sources, my inverter charger (30a), external 24v lithium battery charger (20a), and PV (under 10a, it's a rainy day), and I was able to fully charge the battery. It took almost 6 hours of consistent charging at roughly 60a. Now sitting pretty at 29.2v and floating back and forth.

Now it's time to test its full capacity.

Thanks to all that contributed.
Good to know you've finally got it fully charged.

BTW if that external charger is a smart charger, you can leave it connected permanently and the effects should be no different to purchasing an inverter with higher charging capacity. This is something I did severally for years while using LA, in fact I had 2 external chargers plus an inverter connected at some point due the unreliability of NEPA and not having solar then. ( Oh this is not a recommendation LA people because the battery bank eventually dies as LA is incapable of fast charging regularly, which is why we keep advising una but stubbornness wan wound you, lol)

We await the results of your capacity test and thanks for the update on the new design for Haisic, really really helpful.

@ bkuranga, na u remain, how far?

This woman is not genuine or serious and this should be a big lesson and a big shame to all those who supported her and threw away common sense.

Once again, Natasha or whatever you call yourself, you were suspended because you refused to sit in your seat and instead made a scene the whole world saw, over a seat!!

We should learn to listen to our elders when they talk. There were concrete reasons why Senator Kingibe and all the other women in the Senate did not support her and made it clear she was at fault for not obeying the rules, which she had done severally.

She thinks the rest of Nigeria is her rural backwater town in Kogi where people worship her because she is a half caste and can have any man she wants..... nonsense upon ingredient!

Na stubborn SS men fit her sef, thats probably why she used all legal means possible to force this her current husband to marry her after in her own words "enjoying her anyhow and then trying to chop and clean mouth"

When we get to the Alpha stage of such battery Chemistry, another round of people would come to talk down on all previous battery chemistry as being rubbish and not worth it. They would disRegard the issues with the Salt based battery, and focus on only the Good sides of it
I think the main thing I took from the article, at least in the here and now, is that lithium batteries will likely get cheaper as there is more competition, and that the competition, if proven stable, will eventually get far cheaper to produce than lithium.

Also every dog has it's day and as usual oyinbo are working their hardest to ensure that lithium days are numbered. I also like the fact that this is an old chemistry that they are busy perfecting and wonder how many more older chemistries could be revisited and shown to be more relevant for the here and now.

Honestly we should be trying things like this in Africa i.e. instead of deceiving ourselves that we can do new R& D , focus on old discarded technologies and try and revamp them to meet our needs.... it should be cheaper and more easy to achieve.

Rumplesteelskin:
Thanks for the follow up. Yes, I did. After it went off at 20.8v, I disconnected the battery and used an external 20a charger to charge, and I arrived at a different conclusion. The battery recommended charge current is 40a and all my power sources are under 40, 30a mostly. I figured the battery require serious charge current from 26.4v upward and my charging sources can't provide that. From 26.5 to 26.6 takes almost an hour with the 20a charger. With this charger, I would need like 14 hours for a full charge.

My options now are either to upgrade the inverter to one that charges from 40a and above, or get an external charger above 40a.
Hmmm.....seeing as the aim is to to confirm that your batteries can fully charge up and you can get full capacity, why not connect the external charger, inverter and everything else at the same time to charge it up?

This will definitely shorten the time to charge and prevent you from spending money you might not need to spend if the battery is truly faulty. The longer you leave confirming this, the harder it will be to return the battery.

Now permit me to sincerely seek your advice.
Would you advice me to constantly run my deep freezer, refrigerator, occasional washing machine and blender on the 6kw Growatt inverter (from fouani) in a dusty environment of far northern Nigeria with constant 40ºc temperature?

If you think it's OK, I'll get it. If not, give me a better alternative.
Yes, if you treat it with the respect it deserves.

I believe I had mentioned earlier on here that we use a 5kw Growatt HF inverter backed up with solar and grid, that runs 2 inverter ACs, 6-10 rechargeable fans, 1 deep freezer, 1 fridge, washing machine, blender, microwave etc. with ease.

It's been spotless with no issues. However if you intend to install it with a similar mindset this guy has and under similar conditions, please go where your heart leads you, it makes little sense to spend money and have regrets later on.

BigDickProblems:
Yes it’s true, I know that as well. The statement does not oppose Li-ion, but do you see Li-ion in that high capacity range (20Ah, 23Ah, 50Ah etc) like LifePo4? I guess the answer is no. It’s not common to see them, not like they don’t exist.

This is also obvious in this thread, because a lot builders here uses 3.2Ah or a little above capacity. If there were 20Ah Li-ion cells around, nobody will have that luxury of time to weld 644 cells when you can easily do so with just 8cells. Haba. This is why I said that LifePo4 contains high capacity in small body.
That's fine, I wanted to be sure the latter part above was the argument you were making 👍🏾

Technology MarketRe: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by AndroBlaze: 12:28am On Jun 02, 2025
BigDickProblems:
I prefer LifePo4 battery to Li-ion battery for so many reasons:
-they can contain much larger capacity in a small body.
-Their connection is not hectic compared to you welding 644 cells of Li-ion batteries, especially when you can achieve such with just 8 cells of LifePo4 like you did.
-Fire safety
-lasts longer etc.

But Bro can you show us an image of your output (discharge) and input (charge) connections if it possible.
The bolded in theory is not correct. Lion are more energy dense than Lifepo batteries and if the same materials are used to construct them, the Lion will have less weight and give more power.

This is one of the main reasons they were so popular in mobile phones before fast charging led to a lot of them exploding cheesy

The bolded letters seemed like you are shouting at me. Calm down.
I may have made a quick less informed mention of Deye and SRNE, but I know for a fact that Growatt in the USA is seen as a poor alternative to better inverters. They get very bad reviews generally over the years. Because of the 120v output? I don't know, but it's not considered a good brand. But we praise it here as one of the best.
Well I guess we praise it because it delivers and is good value for money spent. It's like the days of Lead Acid when beginners like me thought Trojan must be great because its what they use in America....only for me to luckily find places like this that taught me the Indian made Quanta is a far better battery to use because it was designed for tropical climates like ours.

So yes Growatt has it issues (especially if you are forced to rely on their warranty), but it's design is superior to Felicity inverters....and I believe more reliable.

As for the bold, you are the first person to claim I am shouting, but no vex sha. I make a lot of typographical mistakes and I find it easier to read through in bold.

If it is very necessary should it be 1 pole or 2 pole Dc breaker? My battery is 200ah Lifepo4 battery.
Just like you have noticed, it is obviously not necessary, especially if it's a smaller system.

However it is safer, so if that's the way he installs you should probably allow him to go ahead.

You only need one pole for the positive.

Bro... It's cheap.
You'll get quality 5kva inverters 48v from $2k with 5 years warranty. Deye naija price is $900-1100. They are considered as cheap for who can't get strongly built ones.
Anyway, wetin I know
I am confused on what you call cheap.

Are you aware that I can get a 5kw inverter for as litlle as $250- $500 in China....so how is something that is double the price still called cheap?!

Using the car analogy again, the fact that Rolls Royce starts at $350k does that mean now if I am driving in a $60,000 Nissan I am cheap?

Is the idea not for it to get me to where I am? Or are you saying a Rolls Royce will not need any maintenance or breakdown because I bought it for $350k??

I really don't get the point of your original writeup....it's like someone from Felicity sent you on errand or something.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by AndroBlaze: 6:16pm On Jun 01, 2025
ask4bk:
I mentioned the use case where it's better. You purposely excluded that use case.

If I say 2010 corolla is better than 2025 tesla Y in naija bad road doesn't mean that the corolla is a better car than tesla. Tesla is better than it, but not in that use case.
Chief you said many incorrect things and your long post would have been better served if you focused your argument at saying LF inverters are more reliable than HF inverters when it comes to consistently carrying bigger loads.

Instead you incorrectly inferred that the inverters brands that are usually recommended by most on this board (Deye, SRNE, Growatt) are meant for the poor and 80% die in less than 2 years, directly contradicting the years of testimonies this thread is built on. Or is their a survey you want to point to that confirms this fact that you claim?

Using this forum as a basis it is clear that people are well served using quality HF inverters brands and there have been plenty tales of transformer based inverters that weigh a mountain that are repeatedly repaired and give little value.

Your advice in this day and age is pretty inaccurate/archaic and has been rightly called out by the majority of contributors here.... its definitely not meant to be taken personal, as most people on here are new and come for advice, especially as they know very little about this world.

If this man has really not done anything adverse to affect his "step daughter", then the biggest party to blame is her mother, who has failed woefully as a mother and wife in this situation.

If she was a serious and genuine person, she would have told her daughter that she could not attend without her husband... and I'm also 100% certain her daughter would have caved in and invited her step father.

By attending, she has taught her daughter that gratitude is not important and selfishness is what rules life. Also she has shown her husband that she does not appreciate all his effort in co-parenting her child and his pride means nothing.

The biggest failure in this story is the wife/mother and if I was a friend of the man I'd be advising him to be ready for a divorce.

We Nigerians praising inverters like Growatt, SRNE etc which are cheap and high frequency shows our shallowness in good solar applications..

Growatt in the west is meant for the poor who can't afford solid inverters and for 80% users they die on them after 18 months or 2 years.

Manufacturers of inverters make it clear to users not to use high frequency inverters for heavy loads. They are not meant for devices with inductive loads like fridge, freezer, pumps, AC. They are not meant for offgrid home applications when you know you'll use the loads. High frequency inverters (without transformers) are for light equipments like lightings, TV, phones, laptop, security cams etc. That's why they are Damn cheaper than low frequency ones. There components are not meant to handle heat for long.

But for us, we will use them with AC, pump, freezer etc and since it's working (of course it'll work), we claim they are the best. But they won't last on the long run.

A low frequency felicity inverter is multiple times better than your highest brand (Deye, Growatt, Tesla) high frequency inverter for offgrid use with heavy loads.

If you are going for offgrid, spend the extra money and get yourself a low frequency transformer based inverter. They are made to withstand heat, dust, heavy loads and harsh environments.

If you need inverter for your office, farm or home, for just light, laptop, TV, printer etc. No need to go for low frequency. Go then for high frequency inverters and save cost
High frequency inverters have come a long way, and you should know this if you have stayed current with RE knowledge.

Also you berating SRNE and then praising Felicity over Growatt is pretty revealing though.

This is one of the reasons people keep saying we should focus more on testimonies and real life experiences rather than ancient text book knowledge, oh well.

I actually thought about taking it back and asking them to replace it as they are really nice people, but because I got it at such a low price then, I could not be bothered (my initial plan was to get multiple, but that was shelved quickly)

Good sturdy build though and the BMS does it's job pretty well. In fact I think it might be a bit to aggressive, but the Chinese are always overprotective with their BMS if the cells aren't 1st grade.
