Nobody can walk into a private medical facility in the USA and demand treatment either
If you went to a doctors office you show your insurance card and pay your co pay before they call you in.without insurance ,you pay their full office fees before being seen
If you have an emergency and have no means or insurance you head to the county/ general hospital,they access if the condition is life threatening,if it is they save you from death and send you a bill,if not they discharge you and show you the door.
If your bill comes you make a payment plan,if the debt goes bad,they send it to collections and ruin your credit rating.
Hospitals get breaks and other remunerations from the govt by treating the uninsured who can't pay their bills
Doctors and nurses and other health care professionals in some of those facilities get perks like school loans paid off for working in those places
There is no such thingin Nigeria
There are no incentives,there is no system to collect on owed bills,there is no social security number or ID to track anyone,anyone can assume any identity
The government does not care
If we are incensed by this,we should be mad at our officials robing us blind and leaving what needs to be done to help the needy masses rather than blaming a doctor trying to make a living in a tough country

Baby mama: As cold as it sounds,some posters here already covered the main issue.
The facility is a private facility.and they are free to demand deposits before treatment
Government hospitals also demand deposits and registration fees before treatment,that is just the way it goes in Nigeria
If I contacted any of you guys selling cars to ship one to me and I pay later would you do it?
You wouldn't because it is your means of livelihood and you need your pay.Now how does anybody expect a doctor to treat a patient without payment or deposit?
People expect too much from others .this is the same reason landlords will go months without their due rent only for the tenants to pack out in the middle of the night and flee without a trace and the landlord is stiffed of his money.if he throws them out he will be called heartless for throwing out a family with young children or new born.
If the doctor treated the woman and holds her hostage till they pay,people will also call them wicked
It is sad the woman died but the hospital has a policy and a business to run
If they treat everyone without payment pretty soon the hospital will fold up.
Was the woman not attending antenatal clinic somewhere
Why couldn't she go to the place she was scheduled to have her baby and see their doctors?

kaxqua: @ Safarigirl;You suddenly turned a post concerning a female banker shot dead into a show of wat the girl studied in school and how come she works in Bank. For that you should apologize to this forum,

1. Are you are a graduate?
2. If you are, did your allow the University to Pass through you just has you passed tru it?
3. Your supporters should also ask themselves this questions

For you to practice Medicine or Law or Engineering etc you need to have specialized training in the University,  but there are a lot of profession that is not cut throat based on what you studied in the University because, it's what anybody can do. Banking Happens to fall into that category. Appropriate training will be offered both in the classroom in this organizations and on the job. Guess you don't know that this organization have mini institution sort of like an Academy to train their own on basically everything has regards the job the individuals those.

I work with a TELCO and you'll amazed at the kind of training you'll get from this organizations.

Wallie: The crime will be investigated to see if the shooting was justified. Just because someone broke into your house or is breaking into your car doesn't mean you can just shoot the person. Different states have different laws. In some states, you cannot shoot a person unless you're in immediate danger, which means that if a thief is running you cannot shoot. In other states, like Texas, you can shoot a person committing crime on your property.

Texas is very pro-gun laws and it has nothing to do with skin color.

greatgod2012: In my opinion, online cheating can actually become physical cheating, because, it may lead to unconsciuos closeness between them, and d two parties may become crazy over each other, which may lead to having to arrange on how to meet physically, and once they meet physically, nothing but real cheating will be involved, so if anybody claims to love his/her partner, he should be able to stay thru thick and thin and stop hypocrisy. I see online chatting as hypocrisy, because he will have to deny his marital status to d person online. To me, it is not a good thing and should not be encouraged. It can lead to emotional disturbance to d spouse.
Thank God for d woman who is comported enough to confront her hubby, but how do we know d hubby was actually saying d truth?

naturalwaves: The mere presence of Didier Drogba on the pitch any day any time irrespective of his fitness level is enough to scare any opposition. A half fit Drogba is still better than a combination of a fully fit Torres and Sturridge.

BTW, is Victor Moses a good striker? I have serious doubts about him having watched him for a while now. A striker that can't do a slight chip on a one on one with the keeper, he is never sure of his dribbles, can't cross well, he is not clinical in front of goal. Against Juve, he even attempted playing a left footed, weak shot through a jam packed defence when he could have pushed the ball forward with a lil run and then shoot.With all these, his days at Chelsea are numbered and he might even continue sitting on the bench for long. Or, am I the only one seeing all these?
