How do you go from desperately needing a job with accommodation, finally getting one, only to turn around and start complaining that the place isn’t “conducive” because there are mosquitoes?

Seriously — what happened to resilience?

Is it really that hard to get a mosquito net or some repellent as a temporary fix? You got the job. You got a roof over your head. That’s the first step. From there, you save, plan, and upgrade. That’s how growth works. But no — some would rather sit in comfort and complain than find solutions and move forward.

This mindset of constant dissatisfaction is exhausting. And sadly, it’s becoming more common, especially among Gen Z. Everything has to be perfect or they throw in the towel. No patience. No endurance. Just complaints.

Nobody is saying you should live in horrible conditions forever, but there’s a difference between temporary inconvenience and permanent suffering. Learn the difference. Stop expecting everything to be polished and perfect from day one. Life doesn’t work that way.

Gratitude, adaptability, and grit — those are the traits that build real success. If you can’t deal with minor discomfort while building your future, how do you expect to handle bigger challenges?

At the end of the day, your comfort zone won’t carry you — your mindset will.

I stay with them for now. She's 18, the first of two daughters and was still virgin (as far as I know). Her only [older] brother is in school.

She's been acting funny since on Sunday evening. She couldn't hold it in anymore and, since there is no one else she could actually confide in, she confided in me. Now she's begging me not to tell anyone and not to cause trouble. She only wants me to help her get a drug (if any) that will prevent pregnancy.

She told me about the man coming to see her in her mother's restaurant and said she was going to talk to the man about getting me a job, but when she went into his car, he forced himself on her.

Honestly I am angry right now! I am angry at three things:

First, I am angry at my family. I have a family where the children are afraid to open up, because if you do, you will be blamed and castigated upon. I understand her fear and apprehension about letting other people know, but I just can't let this go.

Secondly, I am angry at our society. How can a man confidently feels he can force himself on a lady and get away with it? What kind of society do we have?

Thirdly, I am angry at myself. I am angry because I feel helpless. I can't let this thing go. I have to deal with this man, but I don't know how to do it without putting my cousin in a difficult position. I have tried to let her know that it is not her fault and that the man needs to pay for this, but she's been begging me to just let it go. She only confided in me because she's really scared of getting pregnant.

According to her though, there was never any real penetration, but the man (who is a high ranking government official) actually "released" ON her, not IN her. (Does that even make sense?)
How can I handle this issue right now? For me, I am planning to go all out and let hell break loose and let the heavens fall if they have to.

Your cousin confided in you because she trusted you. So right now, the most radical thing you can do for her is: be a safe space. Don’t betray her trust, even if you're boiling inside.

Hello. In 2024, after I finished my NYSC, and for like 6 months I couldn't get a job. While I was searching I found an online job (a publishing job) which has made me close to #10M. On this job there are days I make 200k, some 500, 1m or even more depending on how hard I work or how luck smiles on me.

The issue now is that I got a 9-5 government job that pays around 150k. Tfare alone takes 40%. I'm a single man, 30, PWD. Tbh this money is too small. And talking of managing the two to three jobs ain't easy. It's taking a toll on my health. And too much focus on the govt job is causing a neglect/decline on my online job. I'm being pressured by my parent to go for this 9-5. They don't understand this online job. They think it's a scam. Imagine when will 80 k buy me my Lexus RX 350? When will I begin my own family?

Apart from this publishing job, I've found two other online jobs I've started focusing on. I save well, I don't spend unnecessarily, and I invest well too.

Please advice me what should I do. Should I leave the govt job and continue to lock in?

I travelled to Italy by land and crossing the Mediterranean Sea twice but God saved me. I saved almost 8 million with my mother while in Europe and my father never knew about it. I was deported after 5 years and guess what; she squandered my money to the last kobo and she couldn’t even send me 30k to travel from Lagos to my state which made me slept everywhere possible in the streets of Lagos for 9 days till my father was able to send me transport fare and for the first time in my life I felt like I have over-wronged my dear and I knew I owe all the apologies. My mother on the other hand turned my 4 siblings against me especially the last born that’s not even half my age, attacking me wherever they see me because my mother told them I wanted to kill her but God knows I was really angry at her but I have no intention of hurting her, Never.

At some points I even forgave my younger brother without him apologizing and brought him to live with me because he was constituting nuisance in the village and after about 3 months of staying with me he took my ATM and cleared my account and left with my valuables and at first I didn’t believe my eyes and I immediately called my mother to tell what has happened and guess what; she connived with the rest of my siblings and her sister to tell the village that I have used my brother for rituals but he returned after a month. because I was deported with nothing and they knows how much I need money but I was 100% innocent and there was only one person who stood by me at the time and that was my FATHER. I left my family with her before traveling but she chose to dehumanize my children by sending them back to where I never wanted to be (in my in-laws house where worshipping idol is the norm). My children was fed with proceeds from the shrine which I never liked.

Since 2019 after my deportation till now I have proved them all wrong by acquiring an enviable mansion in the heart of the city and numerous landed properties and I currently have 2 SUVs one for outing with my kids and the other strictly for church and vacations. They dont know how to start apologizing…No need sha

A reputable construction company in Abuja is seeking a qualified Senior Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and project-based accounting, while contributing to financial planning and decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with IAS/IFRS standards.
Manage general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reconciliations.
Oversee project accounting and monitor project costs.
Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance.
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Requirements
6–8 years of accounting experience, including work within the construction industry.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent organizational abilities.
