CareerRe: Top 10 Highest Paying Federal Government Jobs In Nigeria & Salaries by AnI77: 2:50pm On Apr 11, 2022
simeonine:
Are you looking for the highest-paying federal government jobs in Nigeria? Federal government jobs are highly sought after because of the job security over private-sector jobs. Additionally, federal government workers enjoy bonuses and perks such as pensions, vacations, etc. So it’s no wonder you are asking this question.

This article covers a list of the top 10 highest paying federal government jobs in Nigeria, their salaries, eligibility requirements, and how to apply. With this information, you can decide which suits your situation and start setting your priorities straight. Also to be discussed are the best paying federal agencies in Nigeria.

Let’s get started!

#1. Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)
NNPC Average Monthly Salary Range
First on our list of highest paying government jobs in Nigeria is the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Founded on the 1st of December 1977 after the merger between the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel and the Nigerian National Oil Corporation, the NNPC is arguably Nigeria’s best paying federal government agency.

They are Nigeria’s official petroleum industry, and they oversee the Federal Government’s oil and gas relations both within and outside the country. Since Nigeria’s economy predominantly depends on oil, petroleum plays a vital role. Hence, the oil and gas sector workers are naturally some of the highest-paid government employees in Nigeria.

The NNPC regulates the joint venture arrangements between the Federal Government of Nigeria and multinational oil companies like Chevron, ExxonMobil, Agip, Schlumberger, Texaco, Total S.A, etc. Their headquarters is situated at the NNPC Towers in Abuja (FCT), and they have an international office in London.

They also have zonal offices in some of the country’s major states and cities like Lagos, Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna.
NNPC workers are reported to earn the following average salaries:

Interns ₦18,000 – ₦30,000
Entry-level staff ₦180,000 – ₦350,000
Sales manager ₦300,000 – ₦450,000
Economist ₦350,000 – ₦500,000
Experienced staff/manager ₦500,000 – ₦1,000,000
Human Resources Analysts and Well Operations Superintendents earn up to ₦665K and ₦1.4m monthly, respectively.

#2. Bank of Industry (BoI)
We can’t have a list of top paying federal government agencies in Nigeria without the reputable Nigerian Bank of Industry (BoI). They have a long-standing rating as one of Nigeria’s highest-paying federal government parastatals. BOI is the oldest and the largest Development Finance Institution (DFI) presently operating in Nigeria. The BOI is jointly owned by:

* The Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) Nigeria, holding over 94.80% stake
* The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), holding a 5.19% stake, and
* Private shareholders with 0.01% stake.

BOI is a significant agency under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment. The bank offers entrepreneurs and organisations looking to establish small, medium, and large-scale monetary aid projects. By funding industrial projects in major sectors of the economy, they encourage businesses, youth entrepreneurship, and other projects for Nigeria’s benefit.

BOI Average Monthly Salary Range

Analysts ₦240,000 – ₦350,000
Banking officer ₦450,000 – ₦570,000

#3. Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), established by the CBN Act of 1958 but started operating by December 1st, 1959, is another federal government agency with a high staff salary structure.

It is the apex financial regulator in Nigeria charged with the obligation to maintain its external reserves, promote a stable economic environment to the economy and serve as a financial adviser to the Federal Government.

The CBN keeps a close guard of their affairs, and their salaries are purposely shielded from the public.

However, we did some findings, and these are the average salaries the CBN pays its worker.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Average Monthly Salary
Graduate Trainees ₦43,000 – ₦50,000
Entry-level staff ₦120,000 – ₦122,000
Loan officers ₦573,000
Data Analyst ₦647,000
Branch manager ₦732,000

#4. Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA)
NIMASA is another one of the highest paying federal government jobs. Getting a job with the agency is not particularly easy. It was established in 2006, and they are saddled with the responsibility of regulating the Nigerian shipping industry, coastal waters, and maritime labour alongside the Nigerian Navy.

They also conduct inspections and carry out search and rescue services with the Navy. Like the CBN, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) are also quite secretive about its salary.

NIMASA Average Monthly Salary Structure
Entry-level staffs ₦100,000 to ₦150,000
Grade Level 7 (step 1) ₦90,000
Grade Level 8 (step 1) Up to ₦103,988

#5. Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)
A job at the FIRS is a dream for many graduates. FIRS staffs collect, supervise, and record taxes. In addition to their lucrative salary, FIRS staffs enjoy many allowances and benefits, and their job security in the agency is guaranteed.

Factors like the job position, the level or grade, and the years spent in service determine how much a permanent staff at the agency is paid.

FIRS Average Monthly Salary Structure

Human Resources Generalist N480,000 – N517,000

#6. Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)

#7. The Nigerian Military
The Nigerian Military consists of the Nigerian Army, Airforce, and Navy. Salaries in the military are paid based on ranks. Joining any branch of the Nigerian military as a commissioned officer will see you earning higher than a non-commissioned officer.

Who is a Commissioned Officer?
A commissioned officer is an officer who commenced his military career by gaining admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) for special training and courses or one who after completing his higher education (University or Polytechnic) obtained, passed, and successfully completed the training and courses of the Direct Short Service Course (DSSC).

Anyone who falls into any of the categories above will be commissioned after completing his training and courses. Commissioned officers have more legal responsibilities than non-commissioned officers, therefore they hold higher ranks and are paid more.

Who is a Non-Commissioned Officer?
A non-commissioned officer simply put, is a military officer who has not pursued a commission. They obtain their position of authority by promotion through the listed ranks. Non-commissioned officers are divided into Junior Non-Commissioned Officers (JNCO) and Senior (or staff) Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCO).

Many Nigerians see non-commissioned officers as those without the needed academic qualification to advance into the Commissioned ranks. But this is untrue. There are hundreds of non-commissioned officers who possess the needed academic qualification but have to settle for the lower cadre because of circumstances like unemployment, influence, etc.

Now let’s look at the estimated average salaries of each branch of the Military.

#9. Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC)
The Nigerian digital space is a rapidly growing economy with monumental improvements. This growth has made the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) one of the highest-paying government agencies in Nigeria.

The commission was established in 1992 and it has since then coordinated the emergence and development of telecommunications industries in Nigeria. Like other government parastatals, the NCC salary is determined by qualifications and level of experience. Besides the salary packages, staff are also entitled to allowances and bonuses.

Average Monthly Salary Structure
Apart from the bonuses, an entry-level staff in NCC is said to earn at least N120,000 monthly.

Depending on your skill and experience, you can earn up to N380,000 monthly.

#10. Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA)
Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) is one of the downstream sector regulators in Nigeria. They supervise the sector’s gradual deregulation and liberalization.

There were those people who claimed that lecturers of federal universities were among the best-paid workers. So, how come their salaries are not reflected in this list of 10 highest-paying federal jobs?

TravelRe: What Are The Cons Of Moving Abroad? by AnI77:
bepositive11:
Please enlighten us Nairalanders on the cons of moving abroad to give us a more balanced view of what life is like abroad.

Please share your negative experiences and your struggles to settle in and to get to a point of living comfortably.

No positive experiences, please. Only the negative ones since we always hear the positives.
Pros:
(1). If you are working, nobody will withhold your salary without a valid court order. You will know exactly when you are going to be paid. You can plan your life financially.
(2). Your creditworthiness is very important. When you need money urgently, you can approach your bank and raise funds by taking loans subject to repayment affordability.
(3). You do not need to know anybody to secure a job.
(4). You must understand how to dispose of waste properly.
(5). You will learn to be civil even when you are under pressure. You cannot shout at people - including children.
(6). There is no room for corruption because if it is not in your work contract, then you ain't getting it - even if you are the hardest worker.
(7). There is social security because systems works. Society works and the Police do their work without asking for bribes. People generally do the work they are paid to do.
(cool. The school system is functional because it is operated as a factory. They prioritize the completion of your studies in minimum time to get Government subsidies.
(9). Religion and religiosity are personalized and play no role in the running of the State.
(10). Your view of life will change significantly. For this reason, the things you consider to be important and how you manage your affairs will change drastically.

Cons
(1). The longer you live outside the harder it becomes to fit back into the normal life back home - both in terms of the relevance of your qualifications and the foods you are now accustomed to eating.
(2). You will oftentimes miss your family although the effect of distance has now been reduced drastically because of the availability of the internet and data connectivity to support video calls to loved ones.
(3). You will never be treated as an indigene. No matter how long you have lived outside your country, you will always be treated there as a foreigner or worse still as an economic migrant.
(4). You will be feeling nostalgic. The indigenes behave as if foreigners are there to be seen only, and not to be heard. Basically, your opinions on issues are not considered relevant. Oftentimes, you'd hear comments like "why the hell are you here, instead of implementing those your opinions in your own country?"
(5). The things you have been taking for granted back home will cost you a lot of money whenever you come across them if at all you ever do.
(6). At times, you will regret ever leaving your country, and start asking yourself what on earth made you leave in the first place.
PoliticsRe: Kemi Adeosun: I Cried Every Day For Three Months by AnI77: 8:19am On Mar 27, 2022
What Minister Adeosun did was dishonorable and dishonest. This is exactly the type of dishonesty in our national life that has contributed to dragging us to where we are as a people. Why could she not approach the NYSC office, in person, to apply for an Exemption Certificate, and then give them her true history during that application? She should spare me her crocodile tears. My fervent prayer is that all the crooks, cheats, and fraudsters who have made that country what it has become should be disgraced one by one in their own seasons. We should never excuse illegality in Nigeria if we want to move forward as a country.

You don't have to say too much. Just say congratulations, touch the baby and drop some money and bounce.
I agree with the advice above except that I do not support the idea of going there to "touch" someone's newborn baby. If you like to touch a newborn baby without being accused of anything evil (or so), then simply go and have your own!

It is called Jackfruit. It is very popular in India and other parts of Asia where they use it to make Chakkavaratty.
In Brazil, we call it jack -mole. It is a very good place for hiding drugs from Columbia into brazil and USA. Before being deported to nigeria, I stayed in jail for 8 years after US authorities caught one of our shipment containing cocaine and marijuana so I know this very well. We also boil it in salt water and fry whenever we are spending a long time in Columbia forest preparing cocaine pastes

Strange things do happen guys. Yerterday being sunday, My babe and I went out 2 take some bottles as usual @ one of our favourite bar in Oyigbo. So it happend that we finished late cos of the interesting nollywood movie that was showing on African magic @ the bar.

She got calls 4rm home that there is a heavy presence of Army men harrassing and flogging people. For safety purpose, I decided that we lodge in nearby guest house to spend the nite and this is our first time spending the nite 2geda.

While sleeping, (me I wasn't that deep at sleep cos of the alcoholic drink) with her left leg wrappd around me, I startd feeling some wet sensation. Immediately, I turnd on my phone's torch, lol and behold my babe was zapping. I got shocked. I woke her up with anger, she feeling very sorry, hugged me and was pleading with me seriously with tears dripping down her eyes. I couldn't help but to feel sorry for her too.

She said she's been battling with that issue since childhood.

Please, how can I help her?
This problem is due to hormonal imbalance. It has nothing to do with spirituality or any other bullsh*t of that sort. To be able to help her manage herself until her hormones are corrected, you must do the following consistently - for at least 6 months:
(1). Ensure that you wake her up twice, say at 11.30 pm and at 3.30 am, every night to go ease herself.
(2). Ensure that she eats no food or drinks after 8.00 pm for whatever reason.
(3). You need to set your alarm to remind you of this commitment.
(4). You need to speak with her in confidence, and assure her that you are there to help her recover from this challenge.

Best of luck.

Is this lie going to bite me back somehow?
No, do not do that, seriously. Just ignore him, tacitly. What I mean is this: tell him you are not interested in his offer and that you wish that he should simply respect your wishes - as a gentleman that you know he is. I am speaking to you now as a father of 3 beautiful daughters, and an elder brother to two wonderful sisters. If you use your suggested strategy, he may use that same lie to blackmail you in the future, and that will ruin your reputation beyond your school days. Don't do it! '

After prayers and fasting my health is getting better now and I have been to 2 different churches just to confirm that my daughter is a witch and yes it is true. I have packed her stuffs and i took her to her mother but she is doesn't stay there anymore and I don't know her new address. I am not a wicked person but I don't want her in my house because I don't want to harm her and regret it. What do I have to do with a witch?

please nairalanders with experience what do you think this is? it started appearing on my skin 3 days ago , and it gets itchy sometimes, cry this has never happened to me before, please what do you think it is, ? any solutions ? I thought it because of the bathing soap that I switched
Mix red palm oil with a little bit of charcoal (i.e. from burnt firewood), a little salt, add alligator pepper, blended "gworo" or "kolanut", a little bit of ground melon seed... then mix all these in some bitter leaf juice....and then add all these in ogogoro... If you drink this concoction for three days and your condition does not get worse, then you have NOT been healed. Your village people could as well be trying to 'keee' you! (****Seriously, do not try any of the above! *****)

All you need to do is believe that you are indeed sick!

GO TO A PROPER HOSPITAL AND CONSULT A PROPER MEDICAL DOCTOR, and ask them to do a proper test of your blood. You may be suffering from "cutaneous candidiasis".

Christianity EtcRe: The Sack Letter Of Pastors In Winners Chapel Over 'Poor Church Growth' (Photo) by AnI77: 9:04am On Jul 19, 2021
So, the LFCWW employs a pastor in August 2020 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and he heads a church branch somewhere in Benue State - a State where Christians are not protected. This operational base is a place where known killers like Miyetti Allah and Fulani herdsmen are slaughtering people and burning churches on a daily basis, and Christians are regularly attacked. Then, by June 2021, you sack the same pastor for the low "church growth index". Is the LFCWW no longer making decisions based on rational thinking?

Jobs/VacanciesRe: As A Female, What Skills Do I Need To Acquire Before Going Abroad? by AnI77: 5:13am On Jul 08, 2021

Hi Everyone, trust our days have been great?

I wish to relocate to one of the developed Countries and would love to acquire one or two skills before leaving to enable me survive asides schooling. I am a lady and would love your advice especially from experienced nairalanders.

Thanks a lot.
If you ask me na who I go ask? Remember that Ecclesiastes 9:11 says: "Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all."

The best skill you need is to develop the attitude that allows you to: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.", according to Philippians 4:6-7.

My advice: curb your enthusiasm because the world owes you nothing!
EducationRe: UNICAL Begs Its Graduates To Come For Their Certificates by AnI77: 4:03pm On Jun 30, 2021

This is complete nonsense. I remember shuttling between home and Calabar just to get my certificate between 1997 and 1999 until I got tired of UNICAL's way of doing things at their registrar's office. Today, they expect me to travel to Nigeria to collect the certificate of a bachelor's degree I earned in 1997 when the day I got awarded a Ph.D. 13 years ago in the same field outside Nigeria, I got my certificate and transcript the same day during the graduation ceremony without begging anybody for it. Isn't God wonderful? Tell them I say that I had since moved on from their bullshitting, and that their certificate is useless to me. If they like let them extend the deadline to 10 years from today I am not coming for it. I am not interested in their certificate anymore.
