Politics / Osun Gov: The Hopes Of Oyetola by anjowaka510(m): 7:19am On Sep 20, 2018
Indigenes and residents of Osun State will on Saturday, 22 September 2018 go to the polling units across the state to elect a successor of the incumbent Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, whose tenure will end in the next 69 days.About 48 candidates from various political parties are jostling for the Number One seat in the state.
Although some analysts may have predicted a tough contest, those who read in-between lines have said that Aregbesola’s sterling performance in his eight-year occupation of the power stool, must have made victory a fait accompli for the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola.
Although the primary that led to Oyetola’s emergence was stormy and ruffled some feathers, the skirmishes that arose as a result of the outcome of the exercise appear to have been contained.
Party’s ultimate victory
Some members of the APC who contested the primary with the former Chief of Staff to Governor Aregbesola, but lost, who also nursed a feeling of discontent have since allowed the sleeping dog to lie. They have also resolved to close ranks for the party’s ultimate victory on Saturday.
Oyetola himself, being a fair player, who strongly believes in the saying that “a tree does not make a forest”, has since reached out to many of them and has also succeeded in winning them back to the fold.
However, observers said that those who have refused to accept the olive branch being presented to them are in the minority and may not have the capacity to muster enough votes that can stop Oyetola.
An analyst, who expressed the optimism, said that no matter how tough the contest may seem, the APC candidate would emerge winner.
For eight years, Oyetola worked with the out-going governor as Chief of Staff. He was part and parcel of the government in Osun until his voluntary resignation recently to enable him pursue his ambition.
Indeed, at rallies and consultations, continuity and consolidation has been the message of the candidate. An analyst said: “Should this message be bought by the electorate, many of whom rate highly the Aregbesola’s reign, it may translate into huge votes for the APC candidate.”
At a recent interview, the candidate spoke about his drive, saying: “Our core agenda is continuity and consolidation. The six integral action plan of the outgoing administration has transformed the Osun landscape and changed the face of infrastructure in the state.”
Oyetola is also seen as a perfect successor to Aregbesola by many keen followers of political events in the state going by the the enormous influence he wields in the current administration and to keep the machinery of state moving at same tempo and direction.

Politics / Lagos 2019: Ambode Waits For Code Of Conduct After Osinbajo, Oshiomhole Interven by anjowaka510(m): 6:34am On Sep 15, 2018
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State was yesterday waiting to receive a strict code of conduct he must follow after high level interventions from Abuja brought rekindled hopes for him to get a second term ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The interventions ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari, according to high level sources, led to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo meeting with national party leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu up to the early hours ofyesterday.
Akinwunmi Ambode
National Party chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole also met with Tinubu yesterday on the issue in the latter’s Asokoro, Abuja residence.
Tinubu who was still in Abuja as at press time yesterday was still contemplating on how to rally the troops towards Ambode following the pleas.
“Asiwaju is in a quagmire as the matter of Ambode has been taken away from him as it is a problem for him to go and ask the foot soldiers to soften towards the governor.”
Oshiomhole, Saturday Vanguard gathered, had as at press time yet to meet the governor who was in Abuja yesterday.
Oshiomhole arrived Lagos also yesterday for Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s Lagos Central Senatorial town hall meeting. Sources said that he was expected to meet the governor after the town hall meeting. It was gathered that the party chairman did not want to see Ambode before seeing Tinubu. Having seen Tinubu in Abuja, Saturday Vanguard gathered that the party chairman would meet with the governor possibly after the Senator Oluremi Tinubu town hall meeting.
Central to the interface between Tinubu and Osinbajo and with Oshiomhole Saturday Vanguard gathered was the importance of winning Lagos in the forthcoming general election.
A high level source privy to the developments who pleaded not to be named on the basis of the sensitivity of the issues said that President Buhari while respectful of Tinubu’s feelings urged Osinbajo and Oshiomhole to intervene towards a harmonious resolution in the interest of the party.
“They (Osinbajo and Oshiomhole) respected Tinubu’s views but because of the closeness of the election and the huge population of Lagos they don’t want anything to harm the party in the state.
“For Tinubu, because of the interest of the party, he is ready to soften, but the challenge he has is how he is going to convince the foot soldiers who feel that the governor has dealt with them badly and has so pauperized them and they are the ones saying, never, never.
“So, Tinubu is now in a quagmire because the foot soldiers are the ones going to deliver in the election. So, the confusion he is in now having is whether if he allows him whether his foot soldiers will not rebel and cause problems.”
“They are angry that he has pauperized them, doesn’t pick calls, he cuts off the local governments and that if they leave him that they would all die in the second term.”
Based on the interventions, it was learnt that there was a gravitation that the governor would have to provide guarantees of good conduct in the second term.
“If they allow him and it works, he is going to make serious commitments that he is going to change, very, very serious commitments and they would put measures to check him in the event he continues in his ways, but I can assure you that talks are ongoing,” a source said.
Ambode had been particularly accused of arrogance towards party men and depriving the grassroots of patronage. One touchy matter was the replacement of PSP operators in the disposal of waste with Visionscape. The Ambode camp was nevertheless effusive in its assertion of loyalty to Tinubu and the party yesterday.
A source close to the governor told Saturday Vanguard yesterday, “Ambode cannot fight Asiwaju and I can assure you that the matter is being resolved at the highest level and whatever has happened must be put behind all for the interest of the party and the state.”
“I can assure you that the governor remains 100% loyal to Tinubu and that you can take to the bank,” the sourcesaid yesterday.

Politics / 2019 Presidency: Atiku Abubakar Cries, Obtains PDP Nomination Forms by anjowaka510(m): 4:39pm On Aug 31, 2018
ABUJA- Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar Friday wept at his Presidential Campaign Office shortly after obtaining his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headquarters in Abuja.

Atiku who was filled with emotions while receiving the forms from the Atiku Support Groups (ASG) which purchased same for him, reiterated his commitment to the Nigerian cause, and promised to do everything possible not to disappoint Nigerians if given the opportunity.

Unable to overcome his emotions while a member of the ASG, Princess Adekemi Adesanya was painting in graphic details, the sorry state of affairs in the nation, the former Vice President fought back tears as he sobbed, whipping his eyes with the aid of a white handkerchief.

He said: “The event today (purchase of nomination form) is significant and historic because this is the only time in my political career that young men and women in this country have come together without my knowledge or even consent to contribute their own hard-earned money to buy me an Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

“You could have seen that one of the ladies who spoke virtually succeeded in getting me to weep. This is because she aptly described the challenges every Nigerian is facing in this country today and she believed honestly and sincerely from the bottom of her heart that I could be an instrument of addressing those challenges.

“So, for such a woman to believe that I have got those leadership qualities and including those of you who have brought out your monies to by this form, is one of the most serious challenges I have ever faced in my political career.

“And believe me, addressing those challenges is possible because we have brought young men and women, Nigerians who have got the talents, who have got the education, who have got the experience, who have got all what it take to honestly turn this country around.”

Atiku also attributed the slow pace of development in the country to the failure to harness the creative energies of young people by successive administrations.

“Putting together such talented young Nigerians requires leadership and it is that leadership we have not been fortunate enough to have on a consistent basis that this country has not been able to take her rightful rightful position in Africa and indeed, the world,” he stressed.

That said, the Wazirin Adamawa eulogised former Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters, General Shehu Musa Yar’ Adua (of blessed memory) on whose feet, he learnt the rudiments of partisan politics.

His words: “The man who actually brought me into politics, the late Shehu Yar’dua, when he invited me as a young man told us to break the regional siege that every parts of this country had been subjected to.

“He asked us reach out to every Nigerian across the Niger. To him and for him, that was a major objective; so when he died and I decided to build the Yar’ Adua centre in his memory, we got an architect to design the uncompleted bridge.

“The significance of that bridge was that we had started building bridges of understanding and unity across this country and unfortunately, the man who started building that bridge died. I wish I could complete building that bridge.

He thanked his supporters, and assured them of his commitment to job creation if voted into office as President even as urged them to accompany him to Wadata Plaza for the submission of the forms.

“On that day (submission of forms), let us overwhelm the PDP secretariat, let us bring Abuja to a stand still. I bet you by the time we overwhelm the secretariat and bring Abuja to a stand still, the PDP will have no alternative than to give us the ticket,” he added.

Politics / Siege On National Assembly Was A Collective Decision, Daura Opens Up by anjowaka510(m): 6:19pm On Aug 29, 2018
The last has not been heard of the sacked Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS) Lawal Daura, as PRNigeria learnt on good authority that neither was he given query over any issue nor indicted on his handling of affairs of the service until his sack.
A close associate to the sacked DSS boss who spoke to PRNigeria on conditions of anonymity said that Daura insisted that he took all actions in national interest through a collective responsibility, including involvement of principal officers of sister agencies even though he promised not to disclose on whose authority he relied on to lay the siege on the National Assembly.
The source further said that “while the former DSS boss has not officially handed over up till now, his house both in Asokoro and Gwarinpa were thoroughly searched in the night and nothing incriminating were found, and all items found including necklace, praying mat, CDs, ATM card, women bags, documents and receipts have been duly returned to him accordingly.”
The source also stated that when he was invited by the then Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for the security briefing, he quickly rushed out and left some of his personal belonging including phones in the office. He noted that when he was whisked away and eventually sacked, he did not know his offence.
The source further disclosed that Daura felt demoralised after being tagged as a mole of the opposition elements for laying a siege on the National Assembly.
The source said: “Daura has been completely demoralised by the wide spread insinuations of working for the opposition when he took daring moves to protect the Presidency and the ruling party against the antics of the powerful opposition elements. The allegation of being a mole is utter balderdash!”
The source who is also close to security agencies pointed out that: “Spymasters all over the world can be sacrificed but not to the extent of rubbishing their integrity and reputation on the altar of political considerations, especially a spymaster created by the same system, considering the delicate and sensitive nature of intelligent services.”
However, the new development from the sacked Daura-born security chief has contradicted the report submitted by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Idris Ibrahim that Lawal Daura, has confessed that he deployed hooded Operatives of the Secret Service to the National Assembly complex based on intelligence report that unauthorized persons were planning to smuggle dangerous weapons and incriminating items into the Federal Legislative complex.
His purported confession was disclosed in an alleged interim investigation report submitted to the then Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
In the report, the IGP argued that Daura carried out the siege on the National Assembly, without the approval of the Acting President.
“The former Director-General, Department of State Security Services, DSS, Lawal Daura, acted unilaterally, without informing the Presidency. He did not share or intimate other Security Agencies on the unlawful operations”, Idris said in the report.

IBADAN— GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, yesterday, promised to rebuild the demolished Music House owned by Evangelist Yinka Ayefele.

The governor, however, prayed for the Olubadan for more longetivity and that his continued reign would witness more development in Ibadanland.
On reactions that trailed the demolition of Yinka Ayelefe’s Music House, Ajimobi pledged the state government’s commitment to assist the renowned gospel singer in rebuilding the demolished building and also give necessary logistics, adding that Ayefele had held a peace talk with him while he visited him in his office.
He said: “I thank God for the life of the Olubadan for clocking 90 years because he is my father. I pray that the ancient city of Ibadan will witness more development during his reign.”
“I want to say that the imbroglio between the state government and Yinka Ayefele over the demolition of his Music House has been resolved. And I pledge the government’s commitment to assist him.”
The 90th birthday celebration of the Olubadan was held at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan, UI.
Also, the event brought together, Ajimobi, Ladoja and Alao-Akala.
Ladoja, the Osi Olubadan, who had long been at loggerheads with Ajimobi over the leadership of the state and the recent Ibadan chieftaincy review carried out by the incumbent governor, was seen embracing the governor in a joyous mood.
The event attracted the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom, Oba Obateru Akinruntan; Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola, and General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army , Major General Chukwudili Azinta represented by Brig-Gen. Soyele.
Others are former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin; Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola and some white cap chiefs from Lagos.
Others were Dr. Olusola Ayandele, Mr Seyi Makinde, Mr Joseph Tegbe, Chief Niyi Akintola, Alhaji Sharafadeen Alli, Mr Isaac Omodewu, Dr Azeez Adeduntan and Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ajimobi appealed to the citizenry to eschew any act capable of truncating the peaceful co-existence in the state.

Politics / I Am Afraid Of 2019 Election; Let’s Pray For A Peaceful Election – Ekweremadu by anjowaka510(m): 4:47pm On Aug 22, 2018
Worried by the dismal state of the country’s political system, the deputy senate president Dr, Ike Ekweremadu on Wednesday urged Nigerians to pray for a peaceful conduct of the forthcomingEkweremadu who disclosed this in his Sallah message to Muslim faithfuls, opined that elections conducted this year were gravely marred by excessive violence, vote buying, and other outrageous manipulations that threaten the nations democracy.
His full statement reads:
EID-EL KABIR: LET’S PRAY FOR A PEACEFUL 2019
I felicitate with the Nigerian Muslim Umah on the occasion of the 2018 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
I call on all Muslim faithful to emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s life of total obedience, love, justice, and self-sacrifice, which are the hallmarks of Eid-el-Kabir. We must all imbibe these virtues in order to move Nigeria forward to the Promised Land.
The Eid-el-Kabir also presents yet another opportunity for the Muslim Umah and indeed all Nigerians to reflect soberly on state of the nation and pray for Nigeria’s future and peaceful elections.
Nigeria is certainly in need of both attitudinal change and divine intervention as the country prepares for the 2019 general elections.
Whereas the extensive electoral reforms carried out by the National Assembly manifested in visible improvements in the quality of the 2011 and 2015 general elections, subsequent elections have been gravely marred by excessive violence, vote buying, and other outrageous manipulations that threaten our democracy.
From the Bayelsa Governorship election to the recent bye-elections in Kogi and Rivers States, among others, the nation has witnessed intolerable levels of impunity, violence, excessive abuse and manipulation of vital institutions of democracy, which signal grave turbulence ahead of 2019.
Wishing you all a happy Sallahcelebration.

Politics / Certificate Saga: Senator Adeleke Knows Fate Wednesday, August 8 by anjowaka510(m): 7:22pm On Aug 06, 2018
The Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital Monday fixed Wednesday to rule on the eligibility of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke for the September 22 election.
At the resumed hearing of the Case, the court entertained preliminary objections and counter-affidavits in respect of a suit challenging the eligibility of Senator Adeleke before it adjourned the case for ruling on the plaintiffs’ prayers before the court.
Citing Section 177(d) of Nigeria constitution, the plaintiffs, Mr Rasheed Olatunji and Mr. Idowu Oluwaseun had on 23rd of July 2018 approached the court contending that the PDP candidate was not eligible to participate in the primary election of the party because he doesn’t possess minimum required educational qualification, and prayed the court to set the election aside.
On 26th of July 2018 at the returned hearing of the matter, the court adjourned the case till August 1st for definite hearing but the process was stalled following a request by the plaintiffs for out of court settlement, a development that led to the further adjournment of the case to today 6th of August, 2018.
Appearing before the court today, Barrister Olufemi Ayandoku, the lead counsel to the plaintiffs revealed that the parties could not go on with the dialogue, the parties would have to lock horns since barrister Edmund Biriomoni, the counsel to Ademola Adeleke had filed other preliminary objections and written on the prayers of the plaintiffs.
The counsels thereafter put the dialogue behind and expressed readiness to go on with the case. In his argument, Biriomini asked the court to strike out the notion on notice for want of competence and jurisdiction pointing out that the federal high court is in position to decide the case. The respondent, in opposition to the suit, filed three affidavits and written address deposed to by Adeleke.
On the motion of the notice, Biriomoni stressed that one need not pass secondary school certificate examination and that only prove of education up to the level is enough to make one eligible for a governorship position.
However, the plaintiffs’ counsel argued that the Testimonials and the Statement of Results presented by counsel to Senator Adeleke counsel on the senator education up to secondary school level, submitted before the court and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were forged.
He noted that Osun State was created in 1991 and that the document which was dated and purportedly issued in 1988 at Muslim Grammar School Ede could not have originated from Osun State because as at the said date Ede was in Oyo State and that the documents were forged.
He also added that the examination, Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) which the senator claimed to have sat for was not in existence as of 1981 when he claimed to have written the examination.
He cited Section 31 (5) of the Electoral Law which stipulated that any person can approach the court if any candidate presented false affidavit or document to INEC and paragraph 6 which gave the court the power to disqualify anyone

Politics / Presidency Alleges Threat To 2019 Polls, Appeals To NASS To Reconvene by anjowaka510(m): 10:26am On Aug 06, 2018
The Presidency, weekend, raised the alarm over threat to 2019 general elections by National Assembly and appealed to the lawmakers to urgently reconvene to deliberate on the request of President Muhammadu Buhari on the issue and other pending matters before them.
elections
According to the Presidency, also in danger is the supplementary budget to fund the 2018 budget.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Mr. Ita Enang, who raised the alarm in Lagos, said though the National Assembly should not be blamed for suddenly going on recess, the lawmakers should consider the interest of the country and urgently reconvene to consider the requests of the President.
Recall that the Senate, on July 24 adjourned sittings for the next two months, following the siege to the residences of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, by security operatives on July 24 and is expected to reconvene on September 25.
Some of the pending urgent issues before the adjournment included the approval of a supplementary budget to fund the 2018 budget and the 2019 general elections.
The supplementary funds would enable Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to commence preparation for the 2019 polls.
Also pending are several key appointments for the EFCC, ICPC, Deputy CBN Governor and AMCON among others.

Politics / Funding And The 2019 General Elections by anjowaka510(m): 7:32am On Aug 06, 2018
A NUMBER of extraordinary steps are required to be taken if the funds for the conduct of the 2019 general elections are to be procured. The Executive and Legislative arms of the Federal Government have not done the right things to enable the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and other agencies concerned with delivering the general elections, get the necessary funds for this challenging assignment.
Apart from the astronomical rise in the cost of conducting the impending elections compared to 2015, the request for funds from the National Assembly is not only coming late, its source of funding is rather complicated in view of the near-war relationship between the Presidency and the leadership of the National Assembly.
INEC, in its Report of the 2015 elections which it released to the media on October 5, 2016, stated that it spent the sum of N108.8 billion to conduct the general elections. Now, President Muhammadu Buhari has just tabled a request for the whopping sum of N242 billion for the 2019 general polls for the INEC and other agencies. That is nearly a 150 per cent increase.
To make matters worse, the President is demanding that the sum of N164 billion be vired from the N578 billion which the legislators had introduced into the 2018 budget to execute 6,403 projects. In other words, the President is asking the lawmakers to sacrifice projects aimed at giving them relevance in their constituencies for the 2019 elections. Furthermore, the remaining N74 billion is to come from the 2019 budget which is yet to be prepared.
With the frosty relationship between the Presidency and the Federal parliamentarians, worsened by the gale of defections and fear of an alleged scheme to cause a regime change at the National Assembly, we fear that the efforts to appropriate funds for the conduct of the 2019 general elections have been mired in conflict.
We wonder why the funds for the 2019 general elections were not included in the 2018 Appropriation Bill submitted to the National Assembly last year. Did we not know there would be a general election in 2019? If the right thing had been done at the right time, the fund for the elections would have been appropriated with the 2018 budget.
The only way forward is for the Presidency and the leadership of the National Assembly to put aside their partisan and selfish differences, close ranks and tackle this and other national issues together. The 2019 election must hold, and funds for it must be procured due process. The President should provide leadership in this direction.
The National Assembly, on the other hand, must be ready to suspend its two-month annual recess to tackle this problem expeditiously. It should also examine the sharp rise in the election bill and deal with it accordingly.

Politics / PDP Consults With Obasanjo Ahead Of 2019 Polls by anjowaka510(m): 12:01am On Jul 14, 2018
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) is to meet with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta on Saturday ahead of 2019 polls.
The National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus, made this known in Abeokuta while addressing journalists after a meeting between the executive members of the party in Ogun and the PDP NWC.
The Chairman who described Obasanjo as a “warrior” who had fought many battles, explained that the consultation had become necessary to get direction from the former president and tap from his wealth of experience.
Obasanjo
Despite explanations by the Federal Government on how the recovered Abacha loot will be spent, Secondus picked holes in its management, alleging it was being arbitrarily distributed instead of being budgeted for.
The disbursement of the money to poor and vulnerable Nigerians, according to the Vice President, will begin this July.
Maryam Uwais, who heads the Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government explained recently that the Federal Government and the World Bank had signed an agreement to use the money to fund the SIP.
According to Uwais, 18 states, which have been enrolled, will benefit from the programme. They are Niger, Kogi, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Cross River, Bauchi, Jigawa, Gombe, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Anambra.
The remaining 18 states have been excluded because the the state governments had not put in place the appropriate platform through which to implement the programme.
But Secondus insisted that : “Mother of all corruption is happening under Buhari’s government.
“This is the first time a government in Nigeria, not even under the military, that cash will be withdrawn from the bank and distributed to party cronies.
” The Abacha returned loot is being shared by the incumbent government, without putting it in the budget,” he alleged.
Secondus gave assurance that the party would win the Saturday governorship election in Ekiti state.
The PDP chairman who alleged that there were plans by the All Progressives Congress(APC) to take Ekiti state by force, said ” no amount of intimidation can subvert the will of the people.

Politics / 2019 Elections May Not Hold, If…—secondus. by anjowaka510(m): 6:17am On Jul 05, 2018
ABUJA— National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has warned that the 2019 general elections may not hold, if the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State was rigged.
Secondus, who stated this. yesterday. at Wadata Plaza, national secretariat of the party, while playing host to the Forum of PDP local government chairmen, who were on a courtesy visit, reiterated the commitment of the party to win the 2019 Presidential elections to “save Nigerians from All Progressives Congress, APC-inflicted hardship.”
The PDP chairman, while charging members of the forum to work hard to reposition the party in their respective domains, assured them that the party under his stewardship was committedto free, fair and credible polls.
Uche Secondus
According to him, it is no longer business as usual at Wadata “as the party has decentralized power to the grassroots to strengthen the party in readiness for the 2019 polls.”
To guide against corrupting party officials in the future, Secondus said the National Working Committee would not assign hungry people on its assignments at whatever level, adding that this was one of the strategies of its rebranding effort.
Secondus said: “We have warned them not to rig the Ekiti governorship election because there will be crisis. There may be no election in 2019 if Ekiti election is rigged.
“We won’t post persons who are hungry on party’s assignments; people who are looking for money. We have resolved here at Wadata that no one can change positions or names of people that have won elections. That was in the past.”
He further charged them to use every legitimate channel to expose the failings of the APC, stressing that come 2019, the concerted efforts of all critical stakeholders of the party would help bring the APC down on its knees.
While noting that the PDP was not against the fight against corruption, Secondus tasked the Department of State Security (DSS) to immediately charge Gabriel Suswam, a former governor of Benue State to court rather than keeping him in its custody.
“You cannot detain a man and not take him to court. Government must release Suswam as soon as possible,” he added.
Chairman of the forum, Honourable Kabiru Bello Dan-Dogo while lauding the leadership style of the PDP chairman, promised to mobilise grassroots support to wrestle power from the ruling.

Politics / APC Changes Slogan From ‘Change’ To ‘Progress’ by anjowaka510(m): 6:46pm On Jun 23, 2018
ABUJA: The national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has changed its slogan from ‘Change’ to ‘Progress’ following an announcement by one of the Master of Ceremonies that the delegates should no longer chorus ‘change’ anytime the name of the party is chanted.

“I want to announce that when shout APC, the appropriate response should now be Progress and not Change”, he announced.

Articles 4 of the APC Constitution as amended lists ‘Change’ as the slogan of the party. That section of the party constitution has not been amended.

Also the All Progressives Congress National Convention has affirmed former Governor Adams Oshiohmole as the National Chairman.

The convention also affirmed the election of 19 other officers.
Details soon......

Politics / APC Convention In Slow Start Amid Heavy Downpour by anjowaka510(m): 2:08pm On Jun 23, 2018
ABUJA- Despite the early morning downpour, delegates and dignitaries to the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC have continued to arrive in droves, in what looks like a slow start to a long awaited exercise.
While most of the delegates are already seated, some of the dignitaries that have arrived include Govs Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi).
Though cabinet ministers are not delegates to the national convention, some of them are however attending the exercise as “observers”. Some of the early arrivals are Abdulrahman Dambazau (Interior), Osagie Ehanire (Minister of state, Health), Lai Mohammed (Information) and others.
Also, the only aspirant to the office of the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and his wife arrived to a tumultuous welcome.
President Muhammadu Buhari who was slated to arrive by 1pm is still being awaited, while his vice, Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara are yet to arrive too.
There are however indications that Mr Saraki who was still in Russia as at last night may not be attending the convention.
However, all the roads leading to the Eagle Square, venue of the convention is on a security lockdown, forcing motorists to use alternative routes.
More details as they unfold…https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/06/apc-convention-slow-start-amid-heavy-downpour/

Politics / You Have No Facts, Presidency Replies Sanusi by anjowaka510(m): 6:30am On Apr 19, 2018
THE Presidency, on Saturday, reacted to the revelation by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi II, that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was illegally funding the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that what administration had obtained from the apex bank was within acceptable limits.According to a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Saturday night, Sanusi did not have facts on the matter. But the statement agreed that while the government had overdrawn its Central Consolidated Account, it had not taken as much as N4.5 trillion as claimed by the former CBN governor. The presidential aide also questioned Sanusi’s opposition to Buhari’s plan to borrow $29.9 billion, saying that Kano which is the emir’s state will benefit from it.The statement said: “With every respect to the emir, he doesn’t have his facts as far as those issues are concerned.“The issue in CBN that government has overdrawn its Central Consolidated Account is true, but the overdrawing is within limits.“The overdraw does not exceed N1.5 trillion. It is incorrect to say, as he did, that the account was overdrawn by N4.5 trillion.“But even assuming that he was correct, this is a government that has money in excess the amount he mentioned in the Treasury Single Account (TSA).“It is just like you, a bank customer, operating  two accounts, one in the red and the other well funded to the point that it can at any time wipe the  indebtedness on the other. Would any bank manager lose their sleep over this?“This, I am told, is what the IMF found at the CBN and they said it is perfectly normal.“As for his opposition to the $30 billion loan, I’am aware that the Minister of Finance is responding to that.“As a private citizen, I want to read his statement again. I thought that the borrowing is for projects that include the railway and electricity development in the country.”Sanusi had made his allegations while speaking at a policy monitoring dialogue hosted by Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja during the week.http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/no-facts-presidency-replies-sanusi/
