BusinessFlying Cars: Alternative To Traffic Jam And Flight Delay by anointedf(op): 1:06pm On Jul 22, 2011
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a car with wings? A robotic duck? No. In the words of its inventors, it is a “road-able aircraft.” It is a flying car. And maybe it is coming to a garage, street, highway, airstrip, or sky near you, writes WOLE SHADARE.

IF you have ever dreamed of owning a flying car, then you may well be able to buy and fly one.

Imagine being able to get in your car and soar over the traffic jam on the highway, and then touch down at your destination in a fraction of the time it normally takes to drive. It sounds very inviting and tantalising. Call it a flying car or a road-able aircraft, but either way, it’s an idea that has been floating around.

A flying car retailing for $227,000 could be on roads in a matter of months – and customers are already lining up to be the first to get their hands on one, its maker claims.

It is yet to be confirmed if Nigerians are among the thousands of people who have made order for the flying machine considering the taste of affluent Nigerians.

In 2000, i got verbal message about an interview at one of the Fed govt agency at Apapa. The interv was schedule for 10am and i got the message at 9:50am. How do i move from Ikeja to Apapa. I lauched out without CV and other arsenals. They were about to close when i got there. I was given audience and they were really impressed about my performance and from their comment, i got a green light. But was told to bring my credentials the following day.

I got there the following day and started asking about the package, when i dont know whether there is another stage of the interview. The Director was annoyed with me and that was the end.

The story changed suddenly and they are now trying to be peaceful becos of ramaddan. That one na lie o. Is it not during ramaddan that they do most of the blood shedding?.

I beg JTF press further and pick all of them up. The game is almost over for Boko Haram.
PoliticsSecurity Agents Close In As Boko Haram Splits by anointedf(op): 9:12am On Jul 21, 2011
THERE is good news from Boko Haram: bombings will soon stop, thanks to the holy month of Ramadan.

But the breather is coming from a splinter group, Yusufiyya Islamic Movement (YIM), which emerged yesterday, even as security agents are closing in on the sect.

The new group has distanced itself from the bombings of civilian targets attributed to Boko Haram, declaring that “people with evil motives have infiltrated our genuine struggle”.

It condemned attacks on homes and places of worship by the other faction, which says it is fighting a Jihad (holy war). It also declared a unilateral ceasefire during the Ramadan, which begins end of July or early August.

The new faction made its position known in a two-page unsigned leaflet. The leaflets were distributed yesterday at various wards, post office area and sent to media houses in Maiduguri, the beleaguered Borno State capital.

NYSCNysc Redeploys Corpers In Borno •as Boko Haram Attacks Former Gov’s House •ex-go by anointedf(op): 9:17am On Jul 14, 2011
DIRECTOR-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, said, on Wednesday, that the corps members serving in Borno State would immediately be redeployed due to the security situation in the state.

He stated this at the NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri, while addressing corps members during his nationwide tour of NYSC camps across the country.
He said due to the security situation in Borno State, the NYSC authorities deemed it fit to withdraw corps members from trouble areas, as enshrined in the constitution, adding that Borno State could not be an exception.

The NYSC boss said that not all corps members serving in Borno State would be redeployed, because according him, married women and indigenes of Borno who wished to serve in the state would remain behind and serve in the state.

Brigadier-General Tsiga stated that he was committed to the safety and welfare of all corps members serving in the country, adding that, that was why he fought for the enhanced allowances payable to them.

“I am very happy to announce to you that your allowances have been increased from the meagre N9,600 to N19,800 and whenever you start collecting such money, plan carefully how to spend it.”

He expressed surprise over the text messages going round that outgoing corps members should pay N1, 500 as administrative charges into a certain bank account before collecting their four months allowance arrears, stressing that the NYSC authorities would make sure that such fraudsters would be apprehended and brought to book.

He called on the press to always report, objectively, the activities of the NYSC in order to promote national growth and desist from causing unnecessary tension, as the NYSC was a sensitive national issue.

Coupled with our observation and shout here on NL that it is unsafe for anybody to embark on such journey. Despite all these, many still ventured into it. I really pity them because of:

BusinessThieves In India Uproot 800kg ATM Containing 7.6m Rupees by anointedf(op): 1:37pm On Jul 12, 2011
WELL aware that most Automated Teller Machines (ATM) booths are fitted with CCTV cameras, suspected burglars uprooted an 800kg cash machine, so that its built-in cameras do not give them away.

The theft took place at an ATM center, belonging to the Union Bank of India in Chikhali area of New Delhi, one of the country’s major cities. A shopkeeper noticed that the machine inside the ATM booth was missing and immediately informed the police.

Police said the thieves had first blocked the view of the camera fitted at the entrance of the ATM booth with a flex board and then escaped with the cash machine containing 7.6 million rupees. The incident, according to local media, happened just a day after a similar attempt-to-break-in occurred at another ATM center in the city. The thieves there were, however, unsuccessful.

Police said the latest incident took place in the wee hours and the burglars were aided by the fact that the machine was not fixed properly to the floor. Also, the place where the ATM booth stood was leased out to the bank just three months ago and a security guard was yet to be appointed, police further disclosed “The incident might have taken place between 12pm and 5am,” said Police Inspector Somanth Jadhav. “The thieves used a flex board to obstruct the view of the camera. The disc that captures the CCTV footage is installed in the machine, which they took away.”

Jadhav also disclosed that the dog squad was not able to give any clues and no fingerprints were found. According to reports, a similar case was reported in October 2009, where thieves fled with the ATM of Union Bank containing more than 10 million rupees.

Crime‘efcc Boys’ Terrorise Lagos Residents by anointedf(op): 8:44am On Jul 08, 2011
A new group of hoodlums, known as ‘EFCC Boys,’ have emerged in Shomolu, Lagos, where they terrorize residents and dispossess them of their properties.

For the past one month, the street urchins have been operating in the area unchecked.

The residents said they no longer feel safe and have appealed to the Commissioner of police, Mr. Yakubu Alkali, to come to their rescue.
One of the victims, Olatunde Oladipo, who narrated his ordeals in the hands of the ‘EFCC Boys’ thanked God for saving his family from the dreaded gang, adding that he was not at home when they struck.
He disclosed that a 10-man gang, armed with guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons, threatened to kill his wife and child, if they did not see him in the house. His wife, who tried to convince them that he was not at home was physically assaulted.

According to him, when they ransacked his house but couldn’t find him, the bandits turned his house upside down. Also, when they could not find any money, they started destroying his property.

He said the residents are currently living in fears, as the hoodlums have been attacking them daily.
If Oladipo was lucky to have escaped the nozzle of their guns or machete cuts, one Omo Junior was not, as he was allegedly shot.

He also lost some money, laptop, handsets and other personal effects, to the bandits.
The boys, suspected to have been led by one Balogun, also attacked a woman, identified as Mrs. Bunmi Afolabi.
Afolabi, who later spoke to the reporter in tears narrated how a hard object was used to hit her on her head. “After hitting me with the object, about four of them started ransacking my house. They even threatened to kill my children, if they did not find reasonable amount of money in the house. They also destroyed my property,” she said.
FoodAgbekoya: Famine Is Imminent In Nigeria by anointedf(op): 8:25am On Jul 08, 2011
The guild of farmers otherwise known as Agbekoya Society has alerted the nation that famine is imminent in Nigeria in the next five years if the federal and state governments do not take urgent steps to revolutionize agriculture.
In a release made available to Journalists through the media consultant of the guild, Chief Olatunji Bandele, after a meeting of the society and other specialized farmers in the South –west, which took place in Ago-Are, Oyo State on Tuesday, the President General of the society, Chief Kamorudeen Aremu Okikiola called on President Jonathan and South-West governors to take proactive steps in addressing the issue of high cost of food items and declining agricultural products in the country.

“A situation where Nigeria spends about N650 billion to import food items like rice, fish, palm-oil, groundnut oil, sugar, etc is unacceptable.
“It is amazing that in 2011 budget, only 4 percent was allocated to agriculture. This is an indication that both the federal and state governments are paying lips service to agriculture and food security.
According to Chief Okikiola , no nation could do without being able to feed herself and only needed to augment with few importation. “We see today that the prices of tomato and other food items have skyrocketed because of flooding on farms in the North. The farmers in the South are not producing enough of these products because of lack of funds to purchase fertilizer and other agricultural inputs.

Agbekoya Society, as a group in the South -West in 2010/2011, cultivated over 5000 hectares of land to plant cassava, maize, yam and pepper and individual members have farms in their different localities without any assistance from federal and state governments.

The society has embarked on the reorganization and integration of farmers and recruitment of youths and graduates of agriculture to join the Agbekoya Farmers Society in the South-west in order to tackle the imminent famine.
The president general is also calling on President Jonathan and the South -west governors to come to the aid of the real farmers that are languishing in poverty in the rural areas in order to prevent social vices and armed robbery caused by hunger.

PoliticsMinimum Wage Won’t Solve Nigeria’s Problem –lawmaker by anointedf(op): 8:22am On Jul 08, 2011
Payment of N18, 000 minimum wage has been faulted as one decision that would not solve the problem of Nigerian workers because of inflationary tendency.
Addressing the Nzuko Ora Nnewi (Nnewi town union), Chris Azubogu, member representing Nnewi North/South/Ekwusigo Federal constituencies in the National Assembly, argued that even if N100, 000 were fixed as minimum wage, it would be moped up quickly by a hyperinflation that would come up as the end product, because of price mechanism.

He recommends that since the law had fixed minimum wage at N18, 000, the Federal Government should find a way to cushion the value of the naira to check the resultant inflationary tendency.
According to him, “once you increase salary, the market woman increases the prices of her goods. But because it is already a law, we can’t discuss it any more. It will be implemented.
“The issue is not about minimum wage but what is important is to make the naira have value, and that is where Federal Government should focus.”

BusinessPhcn Workers Afraid Of Change -nnaji by anointedf(op): 8:20am On Jul 08, 2011
Professor Barth Nnaji has said that opposition to his appointment as a minister by workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) was borne out of fear of job loss.

Nnaji also attributed the opposition to some interest groups outside the PHCN, particularly contractors who benefit from the status quo.
He said this when he appeared for his confirmatory hearing in the Senate on Wednesday.

“There are three unions in electricity. You have the pension union, they have not opposed. You have the senior staff union, they don’t seem to be opposed (to me). You have the junior staff union and it is a segmen t of the junior staff that is in opposition. But it is fear.

“You have two types of fears here, one is fear of change and in any place where there is a reform in the world, this fear will hold the people in that sector and so it is not different here. They are afraid of change. The second is fear of job loss.

“They are afraid that they will lose their jobs. But it does not make sense to us because we cannot manufacture workers from the air; it must be the same workers that are in the sector that will ultimately operate the sector.
Nnaji identified two sets of PHCN staff who benefit from a corrupt system and so are opposed to change which his appointment would bring for the sector.

“The problem you have is NEPA 1 and NEPA 2; who will be the one that will actually go to disconnect you and NEPA 2 will reconnect you with a fee. So such people will no longer have capacity to do this sort of thing to a nation.
“Also, those who are not really competent may upon privatization, the companies may decide not to keep such workers. Anybody who is operating a business will want the people who are working to be competent. It is just normal.
“The plan is not to just leave the workers out there in the cold. The plan had been let us ensure that the workers benefit; are taken care of and also apart from state government and the federal government, it is only the workers that are going to have shares in the companies. So, it is just fear which I understand. We believe that a segment of the workers union has been hijacked by interest group.

While the deadly Maiduguri based terror group, Boko Haram, continues to maim ,murder and destroy properties, the Nigeria state officials, security agencies are simply at sea as to how to curtail these strings of mayhem. Few days ago, Chief of Army staff, Azubike Ihejirika boasted " we can handle Boko Haram, not too long ago, Inspector General of Police , Hafiz Ringim went to their base to run his mouth, he said " we will destroy Boko Haram. Next day they nearly took his life right there in the belly of the Force Headquarters. The police most times try to minimize the magnitude of destruction. Boko Haram has vowed to kill as many officers and men of the police, SSS, etc. As possible, and they are making good their promise. Recently officials in Abuja imposed an idiotic curfew on Abuja, all drinking and recreation spots must pack up at 10pm, next day Boko struck somewhere else. So if they attack schools in Abuja, you will close schools, they attack churches, you cancel all Sunday masses,

We present some gory images courtesy Boko Haram, stuff they left in their trail, the pictures are disturbing, Viewers discretion is advised.
