AUTHORITIES of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), on Thursday, rejected the posting of any of its graduates to trouble spots in the country by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for their mandatory one year service.

The school said the NYSC should allow graduating students to serve in their geopolitical zones, until the organisation and the Federal Government were able to guarantee their safety.

The school, which said it was still traumatised by the death of one its graduates, Kehinde Jehleel Adeniji, who was killed in Bauchi State during the post-election violence, expressed worries that some of the graduates of the university were being posted to some of these states.

Honestly there is need for us to Network to correct this senseless anomaly. Those doing the posting will never go there themselves or send their children there. Police is afraid of going there, soldiers are thinking twice before launching out. Now you want defenceless corpers to go and serve their fatherland and loose their life on unjust cause.

Let us all come together and fight these irresponsible and insensitive NYSC posting.

We cannot continue to keep quiet when the organisation responsible for the posting of intending corpers is insensitive and are not concerned about the safety of their life.

The InterContinetal Hotel in Kabul, which had housed Nigeria’s former anti-corruption czar, and last April’s presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Nuhu Ribadu, came under a fierce suicide attack by Taliban fighters yesterday.

Eight of the fighters stormed the hotel killing Afghan security officials and hotel guests. But Mr. Ribadu had recently left the country after a previous round of attacks against UN workers, relocating to China before returning to Abuja last month.

Mr. Ribadu was appointed by the United Nations to help fight corruption in Afghanistan as part of an ‘Anti-Corruption Monitoring and Evaluation Committee’.

Right after the Nigerian general elections in April, the former boss of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission moved to Kabul to commence the assignment.

AT last, the two members needed for the Code of Conduct Tribunal to begin trial of cases sent to it by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) have been reportedly nominated, awaiting the approval of President Goodluck Jonathan.

A plethora of high-profile cases had been reportedly sent to the tribunal by the bureau, with the money-laundering and illegal operation of foreign accounts cases of former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, topping the list

The Federal Government, on Wednesday, directed the immediate establishment of a Special Joint Military Task Force specifically to tackle the Boko Haram crises in northern Nigeria with Maiduguri in Borno State as the headquarters.

The task force to be headed by a Major General of the Armoured Corps would comprise  the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Airforce, Department of State Security and the Nigeria Police.

Nigerian Tribune sources disclosed that about 150 operatives of the SSS, 152 officers of the Nigerian Airforce, 135 officers of the Nigerian Navy and 200 soldiers of the Nigerian Army have arrived Maiduguri, with their force commander, ready to be briefed and deployed for the Boko Haram crises.

Nigerian Tribune further gathered that at the end of the day, the Nigeria Army will have in place three battalions of soldiers, the Nigeria Police will deploy 1,500 officers, the SSS will have 500 operatives, the Airforce will contribute 500 officers while the Nigerian Navy will deploy 700 officers.
