Frankrobbn1: While age is not an independent factor in assessing an applicant's overall intent of studying in Canada. A visa officer must critically examine why a 55 years old applicant wants to undertake a program in Canada other than his home country, Nigeria. The applicant on his own part should explicitly demonstrate/outline a clear career path and benefits of the program upon completion of studies in Canada. The ties back home that would motivate his departure after studies and the financial solvency to embark on such project in Canada. All things considered, the visa officer will have to excerise his discretion based on the information present in the application and give the final remark (approval or rejection). Personally, chances are quite slim with such kind of profile.
It will end in praise. Always explicit. Thank you... I will advise the applicant. |

vibrant99: Let me explain it for you...
Nigerians do know what is called Statistics and Data, it means nothing to them.
Even as we speak, we don't know how many people are currently living in your area.
When ever you want to know if anything works , it is Statistics and the data available that people use.
How many people tried this , How many people did it work for , how many people failed in it?
It helps to show you if it is feasible, You asked a question.... Oya scroll back and Check everyone that wrote about their Approval from 2 years back till today on Nairaland and on this Thread, Check the schools they applied to and see if the College you are scampering for is enough to give you some hope.
In layman's language , How many of them is College? Are there no universities in the province a college is in. This statistics isnt only for college applicants but everybody (masters and PGD) Again i will say this visa approval is left for the visa officer to decide. He/she decides based on what you submitted. Criteria of decision, nobody here can tell you but I will say its not based on level of program. Thats why Frankrobben will always end each statement with IT WILL END IN PRAISE. |

ConradAce1: You just rewrote other parts of the scriptures people often over look when it comes to applying for a study permit. Wished I could see in person to tell you I admire how you pour out your assertions. Know not everyone would adhere to it but I stand firm and say YES, IT’s 98% accurate. You seem to write out my mind some times.
Referencing to schools, SENACA college particularly isn’t resting. I think people go in they because it’s affordable & I told someone this too When choosing a school, go for a rare. I know some schools which everyone who applied got a visa, I don’t know of any who got refusal but the tuition is quite high.
I will say like you, the institution you pick & what province it’s located plays a role in your visa acceptance / denial. My own na... As you are applying to rare colleges or schools. Pls make sure the DLI is in CIC website o. |

vibrant99: My DEAR
Some where up there i also wrote it is an opinion and also based on information and experience . Everytime you people will be asking of source , is there anywhere that there is a source of VISA approval/Rejections?
You went on to give us a name of JUST one person , NAIJAFOREIGNER? not 100 people not 1000people?
How many people are following this thread? How many people are replying this comment?
But you only one person who had 2.1 and went to College? Do you know how many people apply to college from Nigeria alone? use this page as a guide , you will be surprised, then follow up with them one after the other and ask them about their application and how it went.
Most of them even backed out and have left NAIRALAND.
I wrote my experience down and you are countering with mere sentiments? do you know how many college applications i am personally aware of? they are not even on this page, even some people who live in Europe who came back to Nigeria Just to apply.... This Naija people dey tire sometimes.
My brother if 100 people Applied to College in Canada with 1st Class or 2.1 or 2.2, Tell anybody anywhere that i said it, Less than 10 People will get Approval, Come up with your content and i will waiting.
STOP making people throw their Monies away for nothing. If you want Send your application to the best Pastor to pray on it, if na College oo, Your application change is through the eye of the needle.
Mind you , If you are applying for COLLEGE, be aware! Fair enough, if am following this and what the guy said It should also mean 2.2 can't get a visa approval as well. Mind you 2.2 can't get a masters. |

I had a 2.1 in my BSc. Documents and SOA are good. Is it advisable I go ahead with the study permit processing? Pls ignore that bolded cos people keep feeding wrong information here. If thats the course you want to go for and its related to your bsc or experience, pls go ahead cos its your choice. No dy listen to everything people on nairaland says, pick what you need ignore the rest. vibrant99: I have Mail requests recently that queries on if Institutions also determine your Approval or Rejection...
I will only write based on my own information and assessments , anything i right is basically my opinion , because there are some warriors here!
YES! the institution you choose is greatly an asset,
There are institutions that are rarely or have never been mentioned here, Nigerians do like Sugar-Ants, Mr A applied to this school and got visa, Mr B applied to this school and got rejection, then that means that the school that has more rejections is worse than the other school. If there are too many applications(Nigerians) for visa coming from a particular school, trust me rejections will increase on that school, Take for instance "Colleges", it is almost impossible to get a visa for study there , even if you pay 6 Years tuition fees.
Area/Location--- Nigerians also choose schools depending on location, Cheap place, place wey no too cold, place wey dem no dey speak french but English etc, From observation it hampers your approvals because it may rather become a territory.
School fees--- We choose schools depending on the fees, as cheap as it gets , it gets more applications, like i said earlier there are schools that have never been mentioned here, like school of 50,000CAD.....30k to 40k CAD,...... but the truth is that this schools will get you an approval easily , from strong convictions if you have evidence that you can pay this fees and sustain your self there .
This things is all about money and Your capacity, they are also worried about your plans but more interested in what you will be offering in Canada too, either way. this is a WIN-WIN situation for anyone heading to Canada but how about the people that are to decide if this happens , The VOs? I just don't know where you guys get this information from..pls where is your source? Cos its feeding people with unverifiable information and it's scary. I will advise you go back to several threads backs and see PGD applicants getting approval. One notable person in that category is naijaforeigner. A 2.1 bsc graduate, traveled to canada for a PGD, graduated and working. I have repeated this here severally, a visa approval is dependent on how your package your application and sop. Its also dependent on the visa officer whixh is why everybody needs God. Be you a masters with scholarship or not or a PGD with deep pockets or not, you can either get an approval or get denied. Your school or level of program doesnt add jack. |

My sponsor is an uncle that has been sponsoring my education for years. I also got a partial scholarship from the school i applied to.
I have a landed property here in my name but do I need to value the property or just present its documents? If the uncle is related to you, then you are good to go. You will need a deed of ownership for the land. |

On the issue of this new 2 stage application process, for a 2021 January applicant, can the applicant wait until the first stage is approved & medical requested before doing biometrics? In order words, would the application still be in progress without supplying the biometrics initially coz the applicant wants to book for both medicals & biometrics together in a single trip. If its medical request, you have 30days to do both.. Now biometrics is ongoing, you have to do it within30days. |

I have 3 study program in mind for fall 2021 term . One a masters in public health , or a second degree in nursing as an accelerated program from a university or a diploma in practical nursing from a college . Please I need your advice . And I am considering school toward the Atlantic Canada territory and I lost my dad this year, could it affect my prof of sponsorship or visa application ? Congratulations on your upcoming nysc graduation. It is advisable to pursue a course related to your bsc, a masters or PGD in public health is fine. Doing a second degree in nursing is not a good idea, why? How do u defend the gap from after your waec and now. Also canada dont offer nursing to international students, rather pre-nursing but you must meet up with the credit requirements before you can proceed to nursing. The Atlantic province is awesome abs beautiful. Sorry about your loss but I can tell you authoritatively, his loss won't affect your application. Your mum or elder siblings can stand in as your sponsor. |

fratermathy: Very good points, especially on the schools. We hardly see discussions on UBC, uToronto, uVictoria, McGill, McMaster and Western here. Those schools, though relatively more expensive, tend to have fewer rejected applicants. However, getting into them is a subject for another day.
As for regions, Nigerians are flooding Ontario and Newfoundland. What happened to Quebec, Yukun, New Brunswick, etc? After all, there are even colleges in the Northwest territories. People have their choice and 90% of persons seek cheap schools to avoid too much financial burden. Quebec are for persons fluent in French . |

I’m half Nigerian and half Ivorian (Ivory coast ) and i’m Applying with my Nigerian passport because I did my tertiary education here in Nigeria. Note that My primary and secondary school education were all done in Ivory Coast. I currently live alone in Nigeria and none of my family members is here with me.
How do I show home ties to Nigeria in my application? I have no job here and I just completed my nysc. Pls apply from Nigeria as long as you have a valid residency permit. Your home ties is still your family in Ivory Coast, the only issue is you are not working cos if you were, it would have added more advantage to your hometies. Finally since you are from Ivory Coast, focus on schools in Quebec (French language) |

Meanwhile, when did you get the refusal & when did u apply? Ehh? Lol.. Pls the reason for the denial is simple.. Is the sponsor related to him.. If no.. Possibility of an approval is slim. If the 20m is enough for his 1yr tuition plus $10,000cad LE, he is good to go |

Queenbeloveth: Good evening everyone. Please I need advice from the good people of this forum. I have both BSc in Geography and PGD in GIS but I've been working as a public servant for over 10years. Because of of my low grade which is 2.2, I can't apply for master program in Canada so I decided to go for another PGD. I'm planning to apply for pgd in applied ocean technology at MUN or Crime Analytics at Cambrian college.
The pgd in Applied ocean technology is related to my degree because if has to do with mapping, but I want to know if it possible to get admission for the second option using my work experience as a security officer. Secondly, I want to confirm in what way pension can be use to support statement of financial capability for visa. Thirdly, I will like to know if it's possible for an uncle with different surname to stand as a sponsor.
I will really appreciate your kind response. Do you have experience in geography. If yes you can go ahead but if no, you may need to reconsidered cos chances of you getting admission and visa might be slim because you dont have any experience in the field that led you to want to further in that same field. When yiu say you were a public servant, how do you mean. ? |
