Ask about what they did to Amaechi when he was the governor of Rivers State, What they did to APC Lagos Secretariat, NGF election result was disregarded, how 5 lawmakers claimed superiority over 27 in Rivers State, Ekiti gate saga and the 8 lawmakers who impeached the speaker who had more on his side and how they were chased out of the state by Fayose who was backed by the federal government, what about the former speaker that was almost impeached through the back door, what about the dss attack on Tinubu, what about the EFCC attack on Ibori who was opposing GEJ...There are more that I can't even count because they are too much. You people should stop making Jonathan look like someone different from other politicians because his government strengthened this madness that has been increased by the APC today.
No saint in politics after all. Most of what you said are APC lies and propaganda, especially the bold part. If you have any credible source for the DSS attack on Tinubu please share. Ibori was arrested and jailed in the UK for criminal offences committed. Do you have any problem with that |

Let's learn to walk our "own" "waka", forget Dubai. I am telling you completing this 100% is given. Just like Autojosh posited, if TBS has been going 3+yrs and running strong, this will not only be completed, it will be optimally used. There are bigger issues....This bus park is a pin in the Ocean for a state like Lagos. We should be considering how we will build at least 5 more. Instead of building five more bus stops, how about completing just one phase of the light rail after all these decades? What of the waterways and ferry services? Not forgetting the dilapidated roads all over the state, especially the feeder roads? How many mega cities with less population than Lagos have metro since forever Don't we have any shame? anonimi: www.nairaland.com/attachments/2135824_image_jpeg9f360c5ab7736510df54c882e9dbf188
TTC in talks to sell old trains to Lagos. Are they safe enough? AUGUST 10, 2011
As Toronto trainspotters gleefully take maiden rides on the TTC's Rocket, commuters in Lagos, Nigeria may be about to get some new trains of their own. Our old ones.
A TTC spokesperson has confirmed that the commission is negotiating with a private group to sell up to 260 used train cars to the West African megacity's new transit project.
"I can confirm that the TTC is in discussion with a third party that wants to purchase trains for Lagos," said commission spokesperson Brad Ross. "Over a period of time, they will be taken out of service and then transported over to Nigeria."
The cars being considered for sale are the TTC's old H-5 and H-6 models, which will be decommissioned as the TTC rolls out its new fleet of Rockets. Ross predicts the earliest they could be shipped to Nigeria is sometime in 2012.
Traffic snarls are already a major economic problem in the Nigerian capital, a booming city that will reach an estimated population of 25 million by 2015. A new above-ground rail system designed to carry 1.5 million people a day has already broken ground, and Lagos Governor Babtunde Fashola has said it "will be the most multi-dimensional and most impactful" of the government's efforts to reduce traffic congestion.
Fashola visited Toronto earlier this year to inspect the TTC trains.
The Lagos deal would be the first of its kind for the TTC. Decommissioned cars are usually sold for scrap metal and can fetch up to $1,500 dollar each. While Ross declined to discuss specific figures, he says the sticker price for Lagos is "significantly more" than scrap prices, putting the potential profits to the TTC in the millions of dollars.
It is not unusual for technology from western nations to end up in poorer countries. Marketplaces in Africa and Asia are flooded with North American clothes, computers, and even cars, but the purchase of larger technology like trains is rarer.
The cars will have to be significantly refurbished to fit existing infrastructure in Lagos, and some Nigerian media reports have lamented that the government appears to have settled on "tokundo," or used, trains instead of brand new vehicles.
Although half the cars are more than 30 years old, Ross is adamant they are perfectly safe and are only being decommissioned for capacity reasons. But he also admitted the TTC is not required to make sure the cars meet any safety standards before selling them.
"Once sold, it's up to the new operator to ensure they are in good working order," he said. "They do need to be maintained much more frequently than the new trains, simply because of their age. At some point they will run out their useful life."
Murtaza Haider, director of the Institute of Housing and Mobility at Ryerson University, said the age of the cars is definitely a cause for concern.
"We should be ensuring that there is some service life left in these vehicles and we're not going to be playing havoc with the lives of those who would ride these vehicles," Haider said. "There's metal fatigue, and that metal fatigue could result in dangerous conditions. I would be paying a close watch on this for the next ten years to see how many accidents do happen in Lagos."
He also warned that while rail systems are glamorous as far as transit infrastructure goes, they are not always as effective at reducing congestion as other options. Nevertheless, new rail systems are frequently preferred because governments can take advantage of kickbacks from large contracts.
According to media reports, the cost estimates for the Lagos rail project have varied wildly from $1.2 billion to $30 billion. In 2010, a Nigerian government watchdog accused Fashola's government of widespread corruption.
"More often than not, politicians favour rail transit because it is more expensive," Haider said. "It's almost useless in some cases, and less productive in most cases, than a bus system. But you can't buy busses for $30 billion. You can inflate prices and make a lot of money buying a rail system."

Having lived abroad for years it will be extremely difficult for you to adapt as you will have to deal with the lack of electricity, medical care and basic facilities that you will now have to spend money buying, instead of the government providing. It is not easy.
However, I would never trade it for anything. But that's just because I'm one of the lucky few who can afford a decent life, good health insurance and even trips abroad (including childbirth), with my Nigerian income. Do you expect your children to live in Nigeria |

Gogetta: Have you thought about getting an MBA from a top school in Europe(INSEAD, LBS,IESE) or in America(HBS, Wharton..etc)? You seen like a smart guy and I don't really think the GMAT/GRE would be much of a hurdle. If you are thinking about financing, there are loans. I'll say remain in Germany, for now, and seriously consider enrolling in a top MBA program (since you are already interested in business), and a prestigious professional job will be within reach after the MBA. When you are in a disadvantaged group, you learn to start low as a pioneer and have skills that people are really in NEED of, usually vocational/technical skills that are in short supply in the labour market. The entitlement mentality of many black people- get a degree then a prestigious professional job will kill many with depression before their time. What % of blacks get such? Are blacks owners of thriving businesses to employ other blacks? Do blacks spend less than they earn persistently and invest in their neighbourhood schools, clinics, parks, libraries, youth adventures, theaters etc AFTER paying all their appropriate taxes? What is the economic weight of blacks in Europe, North America and even Africa Do black celebrities donate as much as white celebrities do to charitable causes? www.nairaland.com/attachments/4916463_img1217_jpegf36bc6f0e3954883e8b3b5a692deed65 |

ShyWhale: I am a Nigerian in Germany with a German Masters degree. It's quite difficult to get professional jobs in Germany as an African as we are usually the last of the pack. The only luck I ever had was to get internships, internships that takes several months to get and usually only for short periods. The high percentage of Africans even with German Phds doing menial jobs is highly discouraging and depressing. Most are trapped in the race for survival and I can't imagine myself living life like them. I feel I could do better with my skills and education that spreads across Europe's top countries.
I made the decision to return to Nigeria, harness my skills and start up a processing company. At 25 and the sole breadwinner of an extended family, they are asking me to stay put, saying that the Nigerian environment is not good for business (I feel they are only scared of losing out on the goodies they get from me).
Also last year, the family introduced me to a female in the UK, talking about marriage to her. The said lady is a Nigerian within my age range, but born and raised in the UK. Though I have been to the UK severally to see her, I have made no commitments whatsoever as she is not the kind of lady I would marry all things being equal. She and the family have however given me a ultimatum to decide now.
What do you advice? Family is good but not to be a burden. Not to be a burden. Are they all handicap and unable to do any work to enable them live within their means while they constantly invest in themselves and their environments for better future cash flows? Don't be surprised that you are underwriting their laziness and the corruption that chased you away and keeps you in the cold weather and unfriendly people abroad. Think am well well. You are nobody's slave, no matter how close to you that the person is. No one pushes a car, after helping to jump start it, until its final destination. Except sey the person na confirmed fool. The opportunities you are looking for can be found in germany, U.K or Canada, better leave that mindset that Africans are lowest on the totem pole when it comes to professional jobs, that's pure hogwash! CliffDike: It's on record that more than 70% of prison inmates in the country are awaiting trial. Some have been there for more than ten years for offences they didn't commit. I think the first step is to totally reform our judicial system to speed up the duration of trials. I totally support rehabilitation of our current prisons and all inmates with lesser criminal sentences. If the duration of awaiting trial is reduced it will drastically help to decongest the prisons. The most effective method to dissuade criminals is to create opportunities to make them busy not by building more prisons. "A busy criminal will commit less crime " Thank you sir. After 50 years of Independence, the government of the so called disadvantaged regions ought to have done something to address the situation. You cannot continue to spoon-feed a child and expect that same child to grow, mature and be independent.
A student from Abia scores 130 in the Federal Commonwealth Entrance exam, yet it's almost impossible to gain admission in the school of his choice, yet another child from Zamfara will score less than 5 and gain same admission seamlessly. How do you encourage such a child that hard work and merit pays? Look at all the appointments the president has made so far, over 90% from the north. They are telling us they are based on merit. My question is how comes, when it comes to appointment, they are hiding under merit to appoint only their own, but when it comes to exams and admission into Federal institutions, they bring in Federal character.
I'm an advocate of merit, hardwork, transparency, objectivity and emperical selection process. That way you encourage everybody to work hard for whatever he/she wants. After all, the Bible says, "he who does not work, let him not eat". It's against natural and spiritual justice and principle to take from those who work and give to those who don't work. That in itself is the root of corruption Nigeria. I support the President's fight against corruption. I advocate the enthronement of merit and objectivity in our national life.
So, Mr. President, if you are serious about your anti-corruption mantra, If you are serious about this your new "merit" policy, let's go back to the basis. Start by eliminating all forms of quota system and federal character in the admission process into Unity schools, Federal universities and recruitment/employment into all federal civil service, agencies, parastatals and let's see who will be qualified. That's my humble submission. https://i0.wp.com/opinion.premiumtimesng.com/wp-content/files/sites/2/2016/04/Fulani-Herdsmen-and-Militia-1.jpg?w=957&ssl=1cuvox: Kaduna state Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has said his government has traced some violent, aggrieved Fulani to their countries and paid them to stop the killings of Southern Kaduna natives and the destruction of their communities saying that the renewed violence is carried out by bandits.
El-Rufai made this known while fielding questions from some select Journalists in his office in Kaduna.
He said: “For southern Kaduna, we didn’t understand what was going on and we decided to set up a committee under Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd) to find out what was going on there. What was established was that the root of the problem has a history starting from the 2011 post election violence.
“Fulani herdsmen from across Africa bring their cattle down towards Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria. The moment the rains starts around March, April, they start moving them up to go back to their various communities and countries.
“Unfortunately, it was when they were moving up with their cattle across Southern Kaduna that the elections of 2011 took place and the crisis trapped some of them.
“Some of them were from Niger, Cameroon, Chad, Mali and Senegal. Fulanis are in 14 African countries and they traverse this country with the cattle.“ So many of these people were killed, cattle lost and they organised themselves and came back to revenge.
“So a lot of what was happening in Southern Kaduna was actually from outside Nigeria. We got a hint that the late Governor Patrick Yakowa got this information and he sent someone to go round some of these Fulani communities, but of course after he died, the whole thing stopped. That is what we inherited. But the Agwai committee established that.
“We took certain steps. We got a group of people that were going round trying to trace some of these people in Cameroon, Niger republic and so on to tell them that there is a new governor who is Fulani like them and has no problem paying compensations for lives lost and he is begging them to stop killing.“In most of the communities, once that appeal was made to them, they said they have forgiven
.There are one or two that asked for monetary compensation. They said they have forgiven the death of human beings, but want compensation for cattle. We said no problem, and we paid some. As recently as two weeks ago, the team went to Niger republic to attend one Fulani gathering that they hold every year with a message from me.
