This guy took the best decision, insecurity in Nigeria is my major fear staying in Nigeria.
If I have the opportunity I will leave this country and settled in a country that security of life is good and Canada is one of them.
Why is insecurity a major problem here?
What do middle class Nigerians do to contribute to the increase or decrease of the insecurityhuh

You should post the Facebook page and block her name to restore your own credibility because this your story and the pictures looks too graphic to be real.

President Buhari has told graduates from Nigerian Universities that a university degree won’t necessarily usher them into an El Dorado and its not a meal ticket.

The President said this today May 10th at the 13th Convocation ceremony for the conferment of higher degrees, postgraduate diplomas and honorary degrees at the Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

Represented at the occassion by the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Anwuka, President Buhari in his speech which was read by Anwuka, said

“You are cautioned that university degrees do not usher you into an El Dorado. It rather equips you with the competence to grapple with the ever-changing challenges of life, of which youth unemployment is a vexatious part. The Federal Government will remain undaunted in tackling the challenges of youth unemployment and underemployment through a matrix of initiatives.”

Gerrard59:
I really wish to know, is it wrong paying bills? Paying for something that works? Middle class Nigerians pay double for the same services and amenities that you might want to mention with even lower quality. And if it's that bad for folks there, why have you not returned? I really don't get it.. Someone decides to relocate for good, yet s/he is criticised by folks who reside there but have blatantly refused to relocate to Nigeria. Surprisingly, you commented on the Lagos Badagry Expressway thread of not being able to reside in Nigeria, yet you believe someone's plan's of relocating from Nigeria is bad?

And please, it's not everyone who gets stucked in the system of paying bills (which in itself is not bad), some go on to become entrepreneurs. We're talking about an emigration debacle that has seen even rich Indians and Chinese doing same and you believe it's a bad thing?

I really wish to know because you cannot just keep critiquing folks' decisions yet decide to remain instead of doing the opposite.
Most Nigerians, middle class and educated included, don't want to pay bills even in Nigeria so they find ways to dodge it for common services hence they prefer to have their own generator, borehole, burglary "proof" doors and windows plus fence that make them prisoners effectively in their own houses.
Unfortunately they cannot have their own road to everywhere nor their own green space that is clean everywhere they go in Nigeria or even in their own city from home to work and back. In short, no man is an island!
It is because we are not system focused and don't participate in making the system work for everyone who pays his dues and those who can't pay because they are genuinely unable to afford to pay (temporarily, hopefully).
Once more of us understand that we are better off paying for common services & utilities to the point of being more engaged in how the system is being managed (politics, advocacy etc) as the whites do generally, then we are on our way to turning our own societies around instead of being second class citizens in places where the people and their ancestors have developed and continue to fine tune without ceasing.

It always beat my imagination how most northerners without good shoes march out to worship the rich and the influential.

I am proud Igbos do no such thing. I strongly support that house of assembly in Igbo lands criminalize the art of kneeling to greet, lying on the ground to greet or undue hailing of anybody be you a religious or traditional figure. We respect people that do so in their tradition but this is not in line with our tradition.

Don't worship anyone except God. Nobody should have an excessive power over you. Just honor the elder and your parents. But don't go extra mile. It is called mental freedom. Is called human liberty and helps to build your confidence. It is not by accident that we Igbos dominate business in Nigeria and expanding into other African countries. God created us complexly unique.

That's all they talk of how they grow the IGR. Who is talking of how the monthly income of the common man on the street has improved, who is talking of how many jobs have being created in the state between that period.
In Advance society they would give you monthly unemployment ratio. And you would be able to see how many jobs were being provided monthly. But here it's all about how they are growing the IGR just to score cheap point. Let's see how such growth has impacted the individuals and the state as a whole.
The IGR when not accounted for properly reduces the monthly disposable income of the man on the street because he pays the IGR final final as the traders, companies etc will always pass on the cost as much as possible.
In advance countries the people are vigilant and concerned about their societies. Are we as concerned herehuh
If we are not, what magic abi na miracle are we expecting? From who?

The bodies of at least 74 migrants have been washed ashore in western Libya, in the latest tragedy along the dangerous trafficking route to Europe. The Libyan Red Crescent posted photos of dozens of bodies in black and white bags lined up along the shore near the western city of Zawiya.
A spokesman for the aid organisation said there were still bodies floating out at sea as the agency had no way of retrieving them. He said the migrants were all adults, mostly from sub-Saharan African countries, and all but three were men.
The UN migration agency, the International Organisation of Migration (IOM), said the dinghy had set off on Saturday with 110 people on board. The agency said traffickers deliberately took the engines from the boat and then abandoned it to drift.

Freedominant:
He is BLACK cause he ORIGINATED from AFRICA !!

You don't to be like a charcoal before people knows you BLACK. Fmr. President Barrack Obama is an example.
Obama is half white and was raised by his white mom and grandparents after his dad left to return to Kenya.
To simply accept that Obama is black is to accept the racist principle of "one drop".
Culturally, Obama is more white than black based on his upbringing.

The one-drop rule is a social and legal principle of racial classification that was historically prominent in the United States in the 20th century. It asserted that any person with even one ancestor of sub-Saharan African ancestry ("one drop" of black blood) is considered black (Negro or colored in historical terms).

This concept became codified into the law of some states in the early 20th century. It was associated with the principle of "invisible blackness" that developed after the long history of racial interaction in the South, as well as the hardening of slavery as a racial caste. It is an example of hypodescent, the automatic assignment of children of a mixed union between different socioeconomic or ethnic groups to the group with the lower status, regardless of proportion of ancestry in different groups.
