The one at peninsula is for lekki peninsula, same for others.
If it is for all the state, it will be bigger than that. In summary, Lagos state has more IPP generated power than Geometric has for some parts of Abia state. Is that the summary of your point |

But the larger portion of blame lies on us, especially in this century, where there are many concepts to learn and copy from. However, as Pansophis.t said, it is one thing to be wealthy, but another thing for that wealth to be at the whims of another person. This means should you go against the person's wishes, the wealth is reduced to rumbles. OTOH, the person can actually prevent you from being wealthy in the first place. The bold part is the key to the end of our lame situation of wanting everything without putting in the effort required. Why should I not prevent people from being as wealthy as I am? pansophist: There is a need, but the road is a long one and requires strategy, organization, patience, and knowing how to sail depending on the direction of the wind.
Simon Ekpa staying in Finland and running a country from there just looks like child's play. You can't stay in Finland, a country that is a puppy of Western hegemony, to break Nigeria, a creation of Western imperialism.
This is just pure geopolitics. Nigeria hasn't broken simply because the political elites are in bed with the West, and they are their rentboys. Also, take a look at countries that declared independence unilaterally, and see their fate.
They suffered years of unrecognition, and the world was shut at them. Even countries with powerful backers like Russia.
Following established precedence, no country that has established a diplomatic relationship with Nigeria will recognize Biafra. A crucial component of diplomatic relationships between countries is territorial integrity, and if Biafra breaks without the go-ahead from Abuja, it would be a lone wolf, weak and dirt poor, with no international recognition.
The economic prosperity of China only took off when the US recognized it as a country after thirty years of its founding, and China is a continent, it's freaking huge. But Biafra? A tiny country that Niger state will be bigger than?
I understand that independence is good, we all want to be free, but the world does not operate on good and bad, but strength and weakness. If Biafra declares, then I can tell you for sure that Nigeria with the help of this western ally will crush it, just like before.
It would be Ukraine 2.0, and the genocide would be worse this time. Unless maybe Russia and China support, then they could be hope. Why is this lame excuse about western hegemony and imperialism being responsible for our collective failure not applicable to Asian and Arab countries? Is there a fundamental difference between us blacks and other races that we have to deal with, if we are serious about making progress? Did France not support Biafrans even though USSR failed to support them since they couldn’t pay the communists? Moreover, what manner of hypocrisy sits in the liberal democracies of western countries and wishes for suffocating dictatorship |

You seem to think I had some sort of duty to promote someone who had repeatedly shown himself untrustworthy by compounding his illegal creation of Intels while in office with the Jennifer Douglas scandal in the USA, and then made things worse by taking back his initial words on Deborah Samuels and talking on TV about "enriching his friends". Newsflash: there is more to supporting a candidate than a manifesto, however attractive. Character matters too, and promises are worthless if those making the promises can't be trusted to keep them. That is why I said you need to understand politics better. The election was between Tinubu and Atiku, with Peter Obi as a spoiler to help Tinubu. The politics was to ask whether Tinubu was OVERALL a better choice than Atiku, taking into consideration each candidate's negatives, then work accordingly. I hope we understand each other better now. |

There was no way in hell I was going to support any candidates whose supporters routinely resorted to brazen slander and character assassination, especially when their attacks had a clear tribalistic slant.
Whatever Tinubu's failings, it is simply a disgusting lie to call him a drug trafficker or accuse him of having forged his certificate, and if those who opposed him had wanted to be taken seriously by thinking people instead of appealing to the low-IQ section of the populace, they would have been better off sticking to factual arguments and discussing policy proposals, just as I'd suggested from the start. Instead they preferred to spew lie after lie, only to have the nerve to feign shock when some of us reacted without utter disgust.
It would be the height of folly to trust a candidate whose movement is founded on tribal supremacy, smears and religious jingoism, running from church to church while endorsing nonsense about the perils of a "Muslim-Muslim" ticket - especially when said candidate had no track record of showing superior intellect or administrative ability, and an even worse record of corruption than Tinubu. My position throughout this last election was not really in favor of Tinubu but against Peter Obi, who represents everything I despise most in Nigerian politics, and who I am %100 certain would be doing far worse than Tinubu currently is, supposing by some miracle Obi's vanity candidacy had managed to succeed. My concern is that you said Atiku was the best policy wise but created those two threads to undermine his political chance of getting into office to act on those policy issues on which he has been consistent in words and actions when he was given half an opportunity as Obasanjo's VP. |

omohayek: There was never any doubt in my mind that Atiku's plans were objectively the best of the three - he understands clearly that the Nigerian economy needs to be massively deregulated - but the question (at least as far as I was concerned) was the extent to which Atiku could be trusted to carry out his program in a fair and transparent manner, given his long record of using power to tilt deals in his own favor. That so many people harbored similar doubts as I did is no one's fault but Atiku's own, and Obasanjo's criticism of him wouldn't have stuck if there were no substance to the accusations.
In any case, Atiku's latest effort was doomed once Peter Obi announced his vanity candidacy using the LP as his latest vehicle of self-advancement, thereby taking 90% of the Igbo vote with him. Obi might as well have handed Tinubu the election on a platter, by dividing the anti-APC opposition.
Circling back to Atiku's latest statements, while I give him credit for actually making concrete proposals that can be scrutinised (unlike Obi, who sticks to worthless platitudes), the idea that Tinubu ever had the option of a managed float is pure fantasy, given how low the foreign reserves were (and still are), and how much of the FG's income was already going to debt service. Where exactly would the money to "manage" the float have come from?
The harsh reality is that any winner of the 2023 election would have been forced to make the same decisions at a similarly rapid rate, as the money simply wasn't there to keep going in the same old way. The only alternative to doing so would have been to print money at an even faster rate than Tinubu is currently doing, which would have led to inflation so high that a "mere" 30% annual rate would have seemed something to envy. The frustrating there here is that Atiku understands this quite well, but is happy to peddle lies to curry popularity with the masses. It's such dishonesty that makes it so hard for me to trust any promises Atiku makes. You need to understand politics separately from administration/governance. If you want the person with the best governance plan to be in office then you play politics accordingly to achieve YOUR goal.In this regard, how did your threads below help or hinder the person with the best administrative/governance plan to be in office? https://www.nairaland.com/5001688/reuters-nigerian-candidates-u.s-visithttps://www.nairaland.com/7873126/no-evidence-nigerias-president-forged |

The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.
Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

LAGOS State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, yesterday, gave a breakdown of how his administration expended the N160 billion World Bank loan it acquired, saying the state maintained a healthy debt profile.
Fashoa, who spoke during his commemoration of 2,700 days in office and achievements in the last 100 days, in Alausa, Ikeja, said long overdue refund would go a long way in reducing the debt profile of the State, which he said the Federal Government recently published to mislead the public.
He said, “Recently, our political adversaries issued statements that we have borrowed N160 billion. What they have not told you is what we are doing with the money.”
Enumerating his government’s activities within the period under consideration he said; “In the last 100 days, we have commenced work on providing street lighting on the Muritala Muhammed Way in Yaba.
This is 10 kilometres of public lighting which will be completed by the end of this month. On Eko Bridge, Carter Bridge, Ikorodu Road, Lekki-Epe Expressway and every street and highway where there is street lighting in Lagos, it is the Lagos State Government that supplied the poles, the bulbs, the diesel and the maintenance.
“The only major highway we are not managing for street lights is the 3rd Mainland Bridge.
Fire engines, to secure lives, rail transport from Okokomaiko to Marina, with four stations of eight kilometres completed, and work heading to Marina, with piles appearing near the Eko Bridge every day are the places your Government is spending money. The expansion of the Lagos Badagry Expressway to a 10-lane highway is another place where your Government is spending money.

Jicks55: Nice one Mr Governor... God bless you for all your efforts to make Lagos great Did you say this also in 2011 when Fashola visited Toronto for the same railway? anonimi: TTC in talks to sell old trains to Lagos. Are they safe enough? AUGUST 10, 2011
Fashola visited Toronto earlier this year to inspect the TTC trains.
The Lagos deal would be the first of its kind for the TTC. Decommissioned cars are usually sold for scrap metal and can fetch up to $1,500 dollar each. While Ross declined to discuss specific figures, he says the sticker price for Lagos is "significantly more" than scrap prices, putting the potential profits to the TTC in the millions of dollars.
It is not unusual for technology from western nations to end up in poorer countries. Marketplaces in Africa and Asia are flooded with North American clothes, computers, and even cars, but the purchase of larger technology like trains is rarer.
The cars will have to be significantly refurbished to fit existing infrastructure in Lagos, and some Nigerian media reports have lamented that the government appears to have settled on "tokundo," or used, trains instead of brand new vehicles.
Although half the cars are more than 30 years old, Ross is adamant they are perfectly safe and are only being decommissioned for capacity reasons. But he also admitted the TTC is not required to make sure the cars meet any safety standards before selling them.
"Once sold, it's up to the new operator to ensure they are in good working order," he said. "They do need to be maintained much more frequently than the new trains, simply because of their age. At some point they will run out their useful life."
Murtaza Haider, director of the Institute of Housing and Mobility at Ryerson University, said the age of the cars is definitely a cause for concern.
"We should be ensuring that there is some service life left in these vehicles and we're not going to be playing havoc with the lives of those who would ride these vehicles," Haider said. "There's metal fatigue, and that metal fatigue could result in dangerous conditions. I would be paying a close watch on this for the next ten years to see how many accidents do happen in Lagos."
He also warned that while rail systems are glamorous as far as transit infrastructure goes, they are not always as effective at reducing congestion as other options. Nevertheless, new rail systems are frequently preferred because governments can take advantage of kickbacks from large contracts.
According to media reports, the cost estimates for the Lagos rail project have varied wildly from $1.2 billion to $30 billion. In 2010, a Nigerian government watchdog accused Fashola's government of widespread corruption.
"More often than not, politicians favour rail transit because it is more expensive," Haider said. "It's almost useless in some cases, and less productive in most cases, than a bus system. But you can't buy busses for $30 billion. You can inflate prices and make a lot of money buying a rail system."

We have just signed the agreement with government about an hour ago. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) signed for the government. A technical committee, headed by Prof. O.O. “We decided to take the 60 per cent offered by government because of our people. Government has been rigid and we do not want to continue with the rigidity of government. We are serving the people, not government and our people are suffering.” Speaking further, Ekwesianya, revealed that a technical committee, headed by Prof. O.O. Chief Medical Director, Anambra State University Teaching Hospital (ASUTH), Amaku, Awka, Dr. Lawrence Ikeakor also confirmed the new development: “Well I’m happy to tell you that the strike has been amicably resolved, even though, like you said, it’s been a prolonged one but suffice it to say that it has been resolved and the doctors have resumed work.” “The call off was yesterday (Sunday). The doctors had some negotiations and held their congress yesterday, during which they agreed to call off the strike. So they resumed duty today. They are in their clinic. Well, I was not privy to the agreement but I will say that our representatives were satisfied with the arrangement, hence they decided to call off the strike.” He disclosed.

Former Lagos provincial governor Bola Tinubu, affectionately nicknamed the Jagaban, is today seen as a shrewd if not “deeply Machiavellian” Svengali in Nigeria’s politics as well as the architect of a hugely successful anti-corruption platform. But 20 years ago he had to forfeit nearly half a million dollars to the U.S. Treasury Department after being named as an accomplice in a white heroin-trafficking and money-laundering ring that stretched from West Africa to the U.S. Midwest.
Although his case has been bandied about the Nigerian press for years, Tinubu’s involvement in a federal drug and racketeering investigation waged jointly by the DEA, FBI, and IRS has gone unreported elsewhere, even after his ascendance to Karl Rove-like status last month. A recent gauzy Financial Times profile of him, for instance, neglected to mention that two decades ago Tinubu was identified as a bagman for two Nigerian heroin movers who operated out of Chicago and Hammond, Indiana. They were Adegboyega Mueez Akande and Abiodun Agbele, Akande’s nephew, who was exposed to law enforcement after selling white heroin first to Lee Andrew Edwards, another dealer later jailed for trying to murder a federal agent, and then to an undercover cop.
In a 1993 court docket from the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Illinois, which The Daily Beast obtained from Sahara Reporters, a Nigeria-focused news outlet, IRS Special Agent Kevin Moss said that Akande had run the white heroin ring in the late 1980s until 1990, when he handed off the U.S arm of the business to his nephew, who had arrived in 1988. Akande then returned to Nigeria but continued to oversee the operation from abroad with the help of others at home and in the United States, including his relatives. One of the individuals identified in his cartel by Moss was Tinubu, then a Chicago State University-educated accountant working as a treasurer for Mobil Oil Nigeria Ltd, a subsidiary of energy giant Mobil Oil, which was still a few years shy of its famous merger with Exxon in 1999.
In the biography section of his official website, Tinubu is described as having emigrated to the United States in 1975 “in search of the proverbial Golden Fleece with a heart brimming with unrelenting determination to achieve his visions.” This is certainly one way to describe his tenure stateside.
In 1989, Moss said in an affidavit, Tinubu established an individual money market account, into which he deposited $1,000 in traveler’s checks, and a negotiable order of withdrawal account (NOW) at First Heritage Bank in Country Club Hills, Illinois. The address Tinubu gave the bank was the same as the listed headquarters of Globe-Link International, the front company owned by Akande and his relatives.
“There’s a trend of various Nigerian politicians at the highest levels involved in dodgy business deals around the world, in property and cash.”
Bank employees told Moss that Akande had personally introduced them to Tinubu in December 1989 when who also opened a joint checking account with his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, who already kept a joint account with Akande’s wife at First Heritage. Five days after the NOW account was opened, $80,000 was wired into it from a bank in Houston maintained by one of Akande’s relatives. Tinubu would later use the NOW account to buy a $10,000 Certificate of Deposit for an $8,000 car loan, listing Akande as his cousin on the application.
At the time, Tinubu’s take home as a Mobil Oil Nigeria executive was a mere $2,400 a month and he claimed not to have any other revenue streams. Yet he still managed to deposit $661,000 into his individual money market account in 1990 and then another $1,216,500 a year later. He also opened more accounts with Citibank in its worldwide personal banking unit, transferring over half a million dollars from his First Heritage money market account into one of them in early 1991.
Mobil Oil Nigeria told Moss that Tinubu’s role at the company never involved transferring large sums of money between banks and that it didn’t keep deposits in any institutions in the south suburbs of Chicago, where First Heritage was based. Moreover, although Tinubu moved back to Nigeria in 1983, he neglected to file U.S. income tax returns after 1984 despite having sizable, interest-generating deposits in American banks. All of this was enough to persuade a magistrate judge of the Northern District to issue seizure warrants for Tinubu’s First Heritage and Citibank accounts. Collectively, more than $1.4 million belonging to the Nigerian was confiscated.
