An astute politician and one of the Founding fathers of Ebonyi State, Engr. Henry Ude, popularly known as Ajim Best, has decamped from the Labour Party, LP and rejoined the camp of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the State.

The defector, disclosed his decision to return to PDP while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki.

He said his decision to stage a comeback to PDP was to help actualize his dream for the people of Ebonyi state as a Founding Father and to join in the current struggle to free Ebonyi state from bondage through the instrumentality of good governance.

He said that he was convinced that the PDP has the capacity and capability to restore peace, security and freedom to the common masses in the state.

“I am in PDP now to join the rest of our patriotic forces who are yearning for freedom of movement, freedom of association and freedom for liberty and progress”.

He enjoined the people of Ebonyi state to join the new political liberation movement led by the Governorship Candidate of PDP, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii to wrestle power from the APC Government in the state.

“I am assuring Ebonyi people that it is feasible, achievable and possible for PDP to reclaim its stolen mandate in order to reposition the state through good governance to cater for the welfare and well-being of the masses”, he said.

Chief Ude emphasized that “the secret of life is, ‘Have no fear’; when you are being pushed and you continue to run, you will never stop running. With the help of Almighty God, Ebonyi will be free again”.

Ude is one of the founding members of the PDP and was famous for singlehandedly sponsoring media advertisements during the struggle for the creation of Ebonyi state from the early 1990s to 1st October, 1996 when the state was created.

Ilorin —One of the principal suspects in the trial of the Offa bank robbery incident at a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, Mr Ayoade Akinrinbosun, yesterday, told the court how the former Commander, IRT squad, Abba Kyari, offered him N10 million to implicate former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, in the armed robbery case.
He further told the court that Kyari promised to give him a visa to any country of his choice if he supports the move to implicate Saraki, but that he declined the offer.

Five suspects, Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham and two others were charged to court by the police for criminal conspiracy to rob the banks, murder of nine policemen and other citizens, and illegal possession of firearms. 

During the incident, about 10 persons were feared killed while other residents of Offa sustained injuries.
However, during cross-examination by defence counsel, Mr Mathias Emeribe, SAN, Akinrinbosun said he was offered N10 million to claim that Saraki asked them to carry out the bloody robbery operation.
According to him,” he (Abba Kyari) said I should admit and say Saraki was the one who asked us to go and rob. I told him I won’t do that. That I will rather die for what I didn’t do than lie against an innocent man.

“He asked me to think over his offer very well. At this point, he ordered officers Hassan and Mashood to return me to the cell, a separate one from where others were and that they should stop torturing me.”
Akinrinbosun said he was not allowed to write any statement in Ilorin except his bio-data until they were conveyed to Abuja in a tinted bus, where he was later kept in a place called Abattoir.
There, the suspect said some herdsmen were killed in his presence, adding that he was tortured and shot in the leg in order to implicate Saraki.
Akinrinbosun maintained that Saraki had nothing to do with the robbery case.
He said: “We were like 15 to 20 taken to Abuja, I only know few of them. We were put outside and served meals, but I couldn’t eat because my hands were paralyzed due to the torture I went through in their hands in Ilorin. They asked Kunle Ogunleye to feed me.

“They separated the five of us, put us in the generator house and Officer Hassan Attila ordered that they bring some men. They went to bring five men, Fulani men. They brought them and killed them all in my presence.
“I was told that was not a film. He asked me to stretch my legs and shot my right leg. He shot the second leg but when I tried shifting the leg, it hit my thumb.”
The defendant went on to show the gunshot wounds on his legs to the court.
Akinrinbosun added that one of the robbery suspects, Michael Adikwu, was shot dead in his presence, a situation that got him terrified and made him agree to implicate Saraki in a prepared statement before newsmen.
The trial judge, Justice Alimat Salman, adjourned the case till February 13, 2023, for the continuation of the hearing.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state said the Second Niger Bridge executed by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration is enough for the Igbo people of the South-East geopolitical zone to vote for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2023.

Uzodimma made this assertion during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.

He said, “Senator Bola Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the APC, the party in power. From 1970 when the civil war ended, the Igbos asked for the Second Niger Bridge, and government after the government came with promises that were not fulfilled.

“The last Christmas was greeted with jubilation; Igbos coming from outside the South-East using the Second Niger Bridge. That is even enough for the whole Igbos to vote for Buhari’s legacy to continue.”

Uzodimma, who is the coordinator for Tinubu’s campaign in the South-East, also said most of the federal roads in the zone have received sufficient attention and budgetary commission and commuters no longer suffer as they use to before.

“It is not about whether Bola Tinubu is from the same place with me; it is about the programmes, to the extent that the manifesto of our great party has convinced and endeared the people. I’m very confident that the party to beat in Nigeria is the APC,” he said.

Uzodimma also said he is running a unified campaign for all APC candidates in the South-East, expressing confidence that all the party’s candidates from the governorship, House of Assembly, House of Representatives to Senate seats will be elected.

Federal Government on December 15, 2022, temporarily opened the bridge to traffic to ease the experience of travellers during the Yuletide break pending the final completion of the project.

The 1.6 kilometres long bridge links Anambra and Delta states.

The Second Niger Bridge was first proposed during the 1978/79 political campaign by then-candidate Shehu Shagari of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN).

The Atiku-Okowa-led Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign has said Thursday’s campaign rally embarked upon by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, in Kano State further exposes the APC candidate’s lack of capacity.

Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant, Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, who said this in a statement in Abuja, said Tinubu’s Kano outing further proves “Tinubu has nothing to offer.”

Shaibu said after spending so much money to organise a rally in Kano State, the candidate of the APC candidate could not even deliver an inspiring speech to the crowd of supporters who gathered to listen to him speak.

He said, “In a bid to conceal his inability to deliver a coherent speech, the APC candidate said rather than speak, he would dance instead. ‘Today, I have come home to Kano. All I want to do is dance. I want music,‘ he said.

“Unfortunately, Tinubu’s dance moves proved to be as uncoordinated as his unintelligible speech. The people and the gods rejected him.

“But this would not be the first time that he would be doing such. In Bénin on Thursday, It was a mixture of ‘Bala blu’ and concoction as he mumbled: ‘I will turn the so-called Yahoo Boys to experts in manufacturing and creation of chips and datjfgfdfgxfvvf.”

The Atiku Media Aide also recalled that “At the APC rally which was held at the Trade Fair Complex in Minna on December 14, 2022, Tinubu also could not muster the energy to address the crowd that had been waiting for him for over six hours.

“On mounting the podium, the APC candidate shouted, ‘Niger Sai Bagode,’ with a brief response from the crowd. Tinubu thereafter left the venue, a situation that made the Master of Ceremony announce the end of the campaign in Niger State.

“The APC campaign council hurriedly put out a statement, claiming that Tinubu’s inability to address the crowd had nothing to do with ill health but he was rather overwhelmed by the crowd. Bollocks.

“At the APC rally in Ebonyi State where he managed to speak for 20 minutes before a rented crowd, Tinubu spent seven minutes acknowledging governors and chanting, ‘Great Ebonyi, greatest of the greatest’.

“When it was time for him to deliver his speech properly, his mental deficiency was laid bare when he said “electric power is a super highway… they could not even make a down payment for the roasted corn (sic)”, whatever that means.“

He also said, “Similarly at the town hall in Owerri, his weakness was again exposed when he described the town hall as being different from “Balabu, Blu blu, Bulaba. “Clearly, these are warning signs which Nigerians must not ignore as they head to the polls next month.

“If this election were about comedy, then Tinubu would win hands down as his speeches have become an excellent material for Tik Tok, Internet memes and even stand-up comedians but unfortunately this is serious business.“

The PDP campaign spokesman noted that with debt and unemployment at an all-time high, Nigeria has been “infected by the sickness called APC.”

He gave credit to the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for aptly likening the APC to “stage four cancer” while he was commissioning the new police headquarters in Rivers State in July 2021.

Shaibu however urged Governor Wike to seek medical attention if he wants to continue to hobnob with the APC against the wishes of his people of Rivers State.

He said, “Already, the so-called strongman of Rivers politics is appearing emaciated by the day as he continues to work for the success of a sick and ‘cancerous’ party.

“It’s not only unpatriotic but tendentiously wicked for Wike to enter a deal to promote a candidate whose mental and physical abilities are suspect.

“His inability to sell Tinubu, a man who is yet to explain his role in the celebrated heroin trafficking case that led to the curious forfeiture of $460,000 to the American government in Rivers State has continued to give him sleepless nights but there is more pain for Wike in the coming days.

“The loud and repeated chants of ‘Atiku’ at the PDP rally organised by Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan where all the G5 governors were present should serve as a wakeup call to the rebel governors. The people are clearly not with them.

“For Governor Makinde, it is time to wake up and smell the coffee. Nothing can stand in the way of a moving train.”
