PoliticsRe: Politicians Inducing Voters With Money, Buying PVCs — INEC by another1(op): 7:30am On Dec 13, 2022
dustmalik:
I thought Inec said it's useless possessing someone else's voters card, that it can't be used to vote by anyone else except the true owner with BVAs. Why then are they raising alarm on wrongful possession?
They were not buying to use but to prevent the owner from voting his or her choice.
In summary, the purpose is to waste the vote from the owners.
PoliticsPoliticians Inducing Voters With Money, Buying PVCs — INEC by another1(op): 5:47am On Dec 13, 2022
THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday, raised the alarm that some politicians have been buying up Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and financially inducing unsuspecting voters to harvest their Voter Identification Numbers ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The revelation by INEC, however, elicited angry reactions from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, LP, and regional bodies such as the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Middle Belt Forum, MBF.

Politicians buying PVCs from voters, INEC raises alarm

Raising the alarm during the launch of #YourVoteMatters project by an election observer group, NESSACTION, in Abuja, the National Commissioner overseeing the FCT, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Plateau states, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed that two people were recently convicted for illegal possession of PVCs in Sokoto and Kano states.

The project, supported by the International Foundation for Electoral System, IFES, the United States Agency for International Development, USAID, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO, seeks to assist INEC in increasing the number of PVCs collected ahead of the 2023 general elections as well as the voters mobilised on Election Day.

Speaking, the INEC National Commissioner, said: “We are aware some politicians are more or less buying the PVCs. If you collect the PVC and then you sell it out or allow someone else to have it, you are aiding illegal possession of the PVC which is an offence in our Electoral Act.

“Some of you are aware that only recently, INEC managed to convict two people, who were found guilty of illegal possession of PVCs in Kano and Sokoto. So, I urge people to connect their PVCs, keep it safe, and make sure that on Election Day, you go out there and cast your votes because, of course, without your PVC you cannot vote.”

In her remarks, Executive Director of NESSACTION, Ambassador Eniola Cole, explained that the project slated for implementation in the FCT, Nasarawa, and Plateau states, will provide logistics that will generate incentives in communities with low PVC collection rates.

Cole said: “We implore the general public to take advantage of the timeframe set by INEC for PVC collection at the Commission’s LGA offices nationwide from December 12, 2022 to January 5, 2023, and at the 8809 Registration Areas from January 6-22, 2023 including Saturdays and Sundays.

“The public can, through dedicated channels, inform us of their location to receive support including the PVC collection buses and community outreach activities to be conducted at the local level in each state by our community mobilisation officers.”

A worrisome development — PDP

Reacting to the alarm, the PDP, yesterday, described the development as worrisome and a threat to democracy if found to be true.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Debo Ologunagba, in a chat with Vanguard, urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the security services to up their game by ensuring that the claim was thoroughly investigated and those found culpable in the ugly trade are apprehended and brought to justice.

Ologunagba said: “The alarm raised by INEC should not be taken lightly because in the last couple of weeks, Nigerians have seen an upsurge in the desperate tactics by the ruling All Progressives Congress, to grab and retain power by all means including the purchase of PVCs from gullible people.

“The party has weaponized poverty which it intends to use to cow Nigerians into doing its bidding.

“You will recall the trending video in which the Presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was seen and heard urging his campaign team members to grab, snatch, run away with political power by all means. The authenticity of the video has not been denied.

“Nigerians are also aware that it was the same APC candidate, who refused to sign the Peace Accord.

“The APC and its candidate have also voiced their opposition to the use of BVAS which is an innovation by INEC to improve the quality of our electoral process.

“With all of these tale signs of desperation from the outgoing ruling party, need Nigerians to look any further than the APC?

“As we speak, the APC candidate is yet to tell Nigerians what he intends to do if in the unlikely event he wins.

“The only opportunity which he was given outside the shores of this country, in Chatham House London to be precise, he bungled it by revealing to Nigerians that he intends to unleash a government by proxy.

“While we await a thorough investigation to unravel the extent to which APCs desperation has led it into seeking to criminally manipulate our electoral process to subvert the will of Nigerians, we implore our security agencies and President Buhari, to remain faithful to their promise to bequeath a credible, free and fair election come 2023.”

Those who weaponized poverty behind the purchase of PVCs — LP

On its part, the Presidential Campaign Council of the Labour Party tasked security agencies and INEC not to look any further than politicians and political parties, who have over the years, weaponized poverty when looking for masterminds of the purchase of Permanent Voter Cards.

Chief Spokesperson of the LP PCC, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, in a chat with Vanguard said: “We in the Labour Party condemn electoral crime in all its ramifications. I’m certain the politicians being described by INEC are not within our rank or file, that is why we have been taking our plea for votes directly to Nigerians.

“Our candidate has been campaigning and appearing in debates and town hall meetings because he knows the power to put him and his running mate and of course our party in office is in the hands of the people.

“We enjoin Nigerians to beware of politicians, who stole from our common patrimony while in office at one time or another.

“These are the same people who have come to use these same stolen funds to try to buy their PVCs and their votes.

“Nigerian voters should also beware that Section 124 of the Electoral Act 2010 (As amended), makes it a criminal offence for anyone to buy or sell votes. Both offenses carry a punishment of 12 months in jail or a fine of N500,000 or both on conviction.”

INEC must invalidate stolen, bought PVCs — PANDEF

The Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, on its part, urged the electoral commission to put in place a system that would invalidate a stolen or bought Permanent Voters Card, PVCs, on the Election Day and stop crying foul.

PANDEF’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Robinson, said: “Now, it is left for the election management body instead of crying foul and raising alarm to put in place a system to ensure that tricks and manipulations of politicians are not allowed to prevail and that they will put models in place to strengthen the excesses of politicians.

“On the part of citizens, it is important to remind us that our vote is our right and that we will bear the consequences of whether we vote rightly or wrongly.

“Citizens should forget the immediate gains of N10,000 or any amount it is, that politicians will give to them to buy their votes before or during the election and that they should put the interest of the country and the future generation above the immediate thing to ensure that we get it right and that it is the true will of the people that will emerge at the various levels of the elections next year.

“It is left for the electoral management body to put in place necessary security mechanisms and infrastructure to ensure that if somebody boys or takes somebody’s PVC the person who bought it can’t use it.

“To have these infrastructures in place is not rocket science. It’s simply that we are in a technological age. If you have such a system in place, if anyone goes to procure or steal somebody else’s PVC, it is simply that the person can’t use it on Election Day.

“I am not sure that those systems are difficult to find and put in place. It’s rather the sincerity of purpose of the electoral body to be unbiased in all situations.

“We don’t want a situation where this so-called alarm raised by the INEC official is a diversionary measure.”

INEC left openings for manipulation — Ohanaeze

In its reaction, Ohanaeze Ndigbo blamed INEC for any manipulations they are experiencing from politicians, saying that they left openings for such manipulations.

National Publicity Secretary of the apex Igbo socio-cultural body, Dr Alex Ogbonnia said: “They ought to be the regulator. They are supposed to regulate the electoral process but the commission that is supposed to regulate the election is now complaining.

“There should be a mechanism in place to ensure things work accordingly. We are supposed to complain to them but now they are the ones complaining to us.

“If indeed there is the electronic model they are trying to use, of course, these things will not be happening.

“There is an opening for people to begin manipulating the 2023 elections. Their body language is indicating that maybe they are going away to what they presented to the public.

“They have not provided the proper mechanism to avoid all these irregularities. That is exactly what they have been doing.”

Politicians creating problems for the electoral system — Afenifere

On its part, Afenifere said it aligned with INEC on its allegation, noting that politicians were creating problems for the electoral system.

In a chat with Vanguard, a member of the National Executive Council, Mogaji Adejumo said: “Basically, INEC has been trying to do the job the way the job ought to be done and for one reason, I think INEC has tried to overcome the initial issues that have plagued our electoral system. One must give them credit for that.

“All the while, the focus has been on the elections and INEC but why would there be an issue if the practitioners (politicians) are principally fixated on ensuring we have successive electoral victories and it will be on a free and fair basis but the practitioners, that is the politicians, are the ones creating problems for the electoral system.

“You can imagine how long it took for the National Assembly to approve electronic transmission of voting; what would have been the ideal thing is to have electronic voting.

“Now that INEC has come out and they have been doing it, to say that the real saboteurs are politicians, Afenifere believes it is time Nigerians, start to query the politicians that are vying for political position.”

INEC must neutralise plans of unscrupulous politicians — MBF

Also, the Middle Belt Forum, MBF, tasked INEC to take steps to invalidate and neutralise the plans by politicians.

MBF’s National President, Dr. Bitrus Pogu said: “INEC knows the exact figures on the voters’ card. We, the ordinary people, do not know what that means; to us, it means you represent a number.

“But its use and functionality are known best by INEC. If some politicians are doing what he said, they are doing, then it means that somebody somewhere has told those politicians the value of those things being harvested which they can use in rigging or in disenfranchised their opponents.

“So, INEC should put in place something that is going to neutralise whatever they are doing; because technology is something that evolves. If politicians are buying off PVCs with a view to extracting numbers, they should get their technicians now to invalidate whatever input that may come from such exercise, and that will save Nigeria.

“We know that some desperate politicians will always want to beat the system no matter how perfect you may think it is, but certainly in spite of all these challenges including this one, the BVAS technology will give us something better that what we had in the past.

“Apart from this, we will also like INEC to raise an alarm like what they are trying to do or what they have done through INEC in Borno and some of the challenged areas where they are falsely trying to create ‘super camps’ as voting areas.

“For example, there is no part of Chibok that you cannot go and conduct the election. No part of Chibok is occupied by insurgents, yet they want to create ‘super camps’. And Chibok is one of those I know that they have selected for that arrangement.

“A super camp is a place where a lot of polling units will be concentrated in one area and people from that area concerned will all concentrate at the voting cluster and vote.

“What that means is that if a politician is not rich enough to transport all his supporters to the cluster, he is automatically disenfranchised.

“This is being done in collusion with INEC and should be stopped.

“So, while they are identifying the issue of purchase of PVCs and harvesting of numbers the issue of what INEC is doing in Borno which I believe is being influenced from outside, should also be stopped.

“Yes we know that there are Local Governments that have been occupied by insurgents, the State Assembly has indicated two, the other Local Government Areas still have their people residing there and can have their elections in their local government areas.

“In Chibok, which I mentioned, every part can be accessed and elections can hold there. We know it is not the same in Danbua because the majority of the villages are deserted but it is not the same thing in Chibok.

“So, for them to come up with that blanket decision, it is just a recipe for rigging and we believe that INEC is involved in this. So, they should look at the situation because it is a recipe for rigging.”

PoliticsNASS Says Constitution Amendments May Fail, Blames States by another1(op): 5:39am On Dec 13, 2022
The National Assembly has said the ongoing review of the 1999 Constitution is bound to fail as the state Houses of Assembly have failed to vote on the amendment bills passed and transmitted to them for concurrence.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, separately appealed to Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State to urge his co-governors to press on legislatures in their respective states to consider the bills.

Lawan and Gbajabiamila made the plea in Abuja on Monday at the second edition of the Distinguished Parliamentarians Lecture Series organised by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies.

The 9th National Assembly had budgeted N4bn for the Constitution review, N1bn for each of the four years of its lifespan.

El-Rufai, in his remarks as chairman on the occasion, urged the National Assembly to enact a series of laws concerning security, education and the economy among others.

The governor listed the seven interventions he wanted from the National Assembly.

He said, “First is state and community policing. I think we are all clear now that the current policing system is broken. It does not work for Nigeria. And Nigeria is the only federation in the world with one centralised police system. I think this National Assembly can enact the state and community policing system that prevents the abuses of the past and takes into account the challenges of the present.

“Secondly, Value Added Tax has become a major source of survival of this country. This year NNPC has not paid a penny to the Federation Account. We have taxes, particularly Value Added Tax. The fact that VAT is not on the Exclusive List, is a major source of concern for the fiscal health of the federation. I think it is something that this National Assembly can do something about in its last six months.”

He also made a case for making 12 years of education free, adding that “This country can never make progress without educating everyone.”

Responding, Lawan and Gbajabiamila told the governor that state Houses of Assembly had yet to pass bills transmitted to them by the National Assembly for concurrence.

The National Assembly on March 29, 2022, transmitted 44 Constitution alteration bills to the 36 state Houses of Assembly for concurrence.

To amend a clause in the Constitution (two-thirds or four-fifth) majority of each of the Senate and the House has to approve the amendment after which it will be transmitted to the state Houses of Assembly, where two-thirds or 24 of the 36 of them have to concur.

Gbajabiamila stated that the success or failure of every significant governance initiative depends on the extent to which the objective is a shared priority of the different arms of government and, in some cases, of the state governments.

He said, “The National Assembly passed a raft of amendments to the constitution and advanced them to the states as required. That process now seems to have stalled in the state Assemblies.

“As it is today, it is doubtful that the current constitutional amendment effort will conclude before the expiration of this legislative term.”

Lawan also said in part, “We have sent the outcome of our Constitution review and we are yet to receive all from the states. So, we should be able to wind up this process by getting responses from the state Houses of Assembly.”

Earlier, El-Rufai said he was not willing to cross from the Executive to the Legislature after his second term as governor. He noted that he does not have the patience to lobby fellow lawmakers in the chambers.

PoliticsOrtom Now Wike’s Errand Boy, Says APC by another1(op): 5:04am On Dec 03, 2022
Opposition parties in Benue State have accused the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, of supporting the political activities of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, at the expense of his (Ortom’s) constitutional responsibilities of providing governance.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Austin Agada, who spoke to our correspondent on the phone on Friday, said Ortom had reduced himself to an “errand boy” to his counterpart in Rivers State in the name of playing politics.

Agada said Ortom had long abandoned the state to pursue his interest which he said had caused a serious setback to the state in the past seven years.

He said, “He (Ortom) had long ago attached himself to Wike; this is responsible for his abysmal performance in the past seven years. He has abandoned governance which is the reason everything is in total decay. He is a disaster to Benue State, he has become an errand boy or may I call him deputy to Wike or an aide to Wike; that is the reason you always see him going around with Wike.

Also the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Joseph Ogli, “I don’t know if it is the tradition of the Peoples Democratic Party to be gallivanting and not sit in their state.

“But I promise you, APGA can not behave like that. Leaving the state and following another governor is not in our character and if by the grace of God, our party wins the forthcoming governorship election, our candidate, Joseph Waya, will not descend to that level but rather will face governance.”

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Herman Hembe, said his priority would be to meet the yearnings of the people if he wins the governorship election in 2023.

Hembe said, “As for me, I am focusing on how to lift my people from underdevelopment. I will focus on the payment of salaries to workers and pensioners and pay more attention to providing employment to the teaming youths.

PoliticsDepots Sell N220/litre, Marketers Project N350/litre Pump Price by another1(op): 5:06am On Nov 30, 2022
The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, could hit N400/litre at most filling stations before the end of this year, going by the continued scarcity of the product, oil marketers stated on Tuesday.

This will represent over 100 per cent increase in the pump price over the period.

Dealers said if the scarcity of petrol failed to abate, its pump price would continue to rise, as they noted that PMS cost was already about N450/litre at the black market in many states.

This came as motorists decried the continued silence of the Federal Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited over the lingering crisis in the downstream oil sector.

The National Public Relations Officer, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chief Ukadike Chinedu, told our correspondent that most IPMAN members, who owned bulk of the filling stations across the country, were now subjected to purchasing PMS at about N220/litre, which was why many outlets currently dispensed at about N250/litre and above.

He said the cost of the commodity had been rising due its unavailability and other concerns in the sector, stressing that consumers should be ready to pay between N350/litre to N400/litre before the end of this year.

“I’ve always discussed with you frankly on the PMS supply situation in Nigeria. A vessel arrived Port Harcourt depot and the information we got is that it is only for major marketers. This might be happening in some other locations too,” Ukadike stated.

He added, “Where is the volume for independent marketers? We are waiting for that of independent marketers. If NNPC does not declare any volume for independent marketers, we will end up buying the product from major marketers.

“By the time we buy from major marketers, they will sell to us at about N220/litre, and you can imagine the rate which we will have to sell to consumers. So where is our quota?

“We need our quota so that we can buy at the same government approved rate. But by selling to only major marketers, they will resell to independent marketers at between N210 to N220/litre, and we don’t have any option than to buy it.”

Ukadike confirmed an earlier exclusive report by The PUNCH that the ex-depot price of petrol had risen to about N185/litre, adding that when major marketers bought at this rate, they would sell above N210/litre to independent marketers.

“So, if care is not taken, we should be talking around N350/litre to N400/litre for the pump price of petrol before this year ends, considering the way things are going now,” the IPMAN official stated.

He added, “Remember I recently told you that the landing cost of petrol in Nigeria is above N400/litre and it should not be less than N450/litre currently. And I stand to be challenged on this; it is not less than N450/litre now.”

On Monday, The PUNCH exclusively reported that the lowest price which NNPC could sell petrol to marketers, assuming there was no subsidy, was N400/litre.

The report also stated that the Federal Government had quietly allowed depot owners to raise the ex-depot price of petrol to about N185/litre, whereas the approved rate used to be N147/litre.

“The subsidised ex-depot rate for petrol from NNPC is about N147/litre, but tell me, which depot is selling at that rate today? I know somebody who said he bought from a depot at N182/litre. And he got it at this rate because he did bulk purchase, he bought about 20 trucks,” a major marketer, who requested not to be named due to lack of authorisation, told our correspondent.

The official added, “And he bought it from one of the major marketing companies. So, when you make a bulk purchase at N182/litre, then you can imagine what those who are buying one or two trucks will have to pay for the product.

“This means that there is hardly any depot you can go to now that you can get products for less than N185/litre. And by the time you buy at N185/litre at the depots, why won’t they sell at N200/litre and above?”

Also speaking on issue, the President, Petroleum Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, told our correspondent on Tuesday that the cost of PMS would continue to appreciate if the current situation persisted.

“I have said in the last seven months that the price of PMS in Nigeria is not sustainable. Initially, it was being dodged by everybody, but you’ve heard the NNPC come out clearly to say that the price that it is being sold is not sustainable,” he stated.

He added, “Now, we are here in the reality of today. So, I think that what we should focus on is availability of products, not to worry much about petroleum price, for we don’t know if the product will even be available.

“Right now in the black market, it is being sold at N400 to N450/litre. I attempted to ask for a five-litre jerry can in Lagos and they were offering it at N2,200, which translates to N450/litre.

On the alleged racketeering by some marketers, Gillis-Harry, said, “You cannot do that for a product that is not even available – a product that you struggle to purchase. The NNPC is under pressure and the currency has its own problem.”

In-country refining is solution

The PETROAN president stated that the only potent solution to the crisis bedeviling PMS supply in Nigeria currently was for the government to hasten in-country refining of crude oil.

“I hope we don’t get to the end of the year like this, otherwise this Yuletide might end up being boring. But I can tell you that the solution to this at the end of the day is local refining capacity improvement,” Gillis-Harry stated.

PoliticsWe Have Enough Food For Nigerians, Agric Minister Boasts by another1(op): 7:56am On Nov 29, 2022
Minister blames rising cost of food on inflation, COVID-19
• FG cautions travellers to U.S., U.K.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar, has blamed the rising cost of food and other items on inflation and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The minister spoke, yesterday, at a media briefing series to highlight the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, otherwise known as ‘Scorecard 2015-2023’.

He said inflation is not limited to Nigeria, describing it as a global trend occasioned by the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Abubakar, the hike in the price of fertilizer and challenges facing producers of raw materials, due to the effect of the pandemic, impacted negatively the cost of food items.

Even as Nigerians groan under the burden of the high cost of food, especially rice, Abubakar tried to allay fears, noting that the country has enough to feed its citizens.

He said: “We have enough food to take care of Nigerians. We are producing food across the country and we will continue to do so to feed Nigerians, in line with our mandate, and expedite the transformation of rural communities.

“The fact that some categories of food are imported by Nigeria is not an indication that we have a food shortage. The high cost of food that we experience in the country is as a result of rising inflation, which is not peculiar to Nigeria, but is due to the COVID-19 pandemic that forced many sectors of economic production to be shut down for many months.

“As it is, today, many parts of the world, including our own country, are yet to fully recover from the negative effects of the pandemic, which has triggered inflation and high food cost across the world.”

The minister announced that to improve food stock in the country, the ministry is currently constructing 10 large-scale integrated rice mills, with 320 metric tons capacity per day, in nine states and in the Federal Capital Territory.

The states are: Jigawa, Kano, Adamawa, Niger, Kaduna, Gombe, Ekiti, Ogun and Bayelsa.

This is, in addition, to support given to farmers towards the production and distribution of breeder, foundation and certified rice seeds.

The minister further informed that the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative, launched in 2016, has increased the number of fertilizer plants from eight to 200 and raised production from 300,000 metric tons to seven million metric tons.

According to him, the ministry has improved the quantity of food, fish and animal production and has increased the capacity of food storage facilities in case of emergency.

He noted that the ministry is constructing two 2,000-metric-ton specialised warehouses for food storage at Federal Government’s silo complexes in Irrua, Edo State and Ilesha in Osun State.

While answering questions on herders’ attack on farmers, the minister said he was not certain herdsmen would intentionally attack farmers, stressing that ranching and grazing remain lasting solutions to the problem.

Earlier, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, cautioned Nigerian citizens travelling to the United States and Europe against the high theft rate of travel documents.

Mohammed said the advisory was prompted by attacks on Nigerians in London and theft of their belongings, including passports and money, and in some cities in Europe and America.

He said: “We have, therefore, decided to advise Nigerians travelling to Europe and the United States to take extra precautions, to avoid being dispossessed of their belongings.”

“This is not your typical travel advisory. Issuing such is the prerogative of our Embassies, High Commissions, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is merely a piece of advice to Nigerians who may be visiting the affected parts of the world.”

WEEKS after the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard-bearer, Senator Bola Tinubu, secured the cooperation of the governors on the composition of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), another cold war is brewing over the establishment of what has been perceived as a parallel body, the Grassroot Independent Campaign Council.

Sunday Tribune investigation revealed that the governors who were enraged over the list of members of the PCC which they said was skewed against their interest were eventually pacified after several trouble-shooting meetings with Tinubu.

The APC presidential candidate also met with the leadership of the APC National Working Committee led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, which also felt shortchanged before a new list was released to accommodate all contending blocs.

A source told Sunday Tribune that Tinubu had since created a new organ called the Grassroot Independent Campaign Council with trusted loyalists as chairmen in state chapters.

Members of the ICC are insulated from the influence of the governors as they are not answerable to them.

The source revealed that members of the ICC with temporary operational office in Maitama, Abuja has since moved to a new office near the Federal Secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory. They were inaugurated penultimate week.

“The governors have been angry since they got wind of the composition of the ICC. Because the new body does not enjoy their buy-in, their inauguration was low key. “Members were invited for a retreat but some of them knew it was actually their inauguration.”

Speaking to Sunday Tribune in a telephone interview, Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council, however, said no governor has expressed reservation over the establishment of the ICC.

He said: “That isn’t true. No governor is complaining; no governor has come out to complain. It is mere rumour. That’s mere invention.”

Minister of Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, (SAN) who is the Director of Public Affairs/ chief spokesperson, Tinubu– Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, also said there is no cold war between Tinubu and the governors over the creation of ICC.

He said, “There is no single governor that is unhappy about this. Politics is a game of numbers. The more we have volunteers, the better for us.”

A party source, however, told Sunday Tribune in confidence that the APC standard-bearer is wary of the half-hearted commitment of certain governors from the North to his aspiration which informed his endorsement of the ICC when it was raised with him.

The source told Sunday Tribune that one of the APC governors in the North-East state “is romancing the Atiku camp and Tinubu has got wind of the moves of the unfriendly governor.”

The source revealed that a former National Security Adviser from North-West has been mobilising support for Atiku Abubakar among governors in the North including those of the APC.

“They are reaching out to the Northern governors, particularly to those from the North-West and the North-East. The message is that Atiku Abubakar is their own and he must not be left in the cold.”
