Krisuba: Pls bro wat is market maker.
\

A market maker is a bank or brokerage company that stands ready every second of the trading day with a firm ask and bid price. This is good for you, because when you place an order to sell your thousand shares of Disney, the market maker will actually purchase the stock from you, even if he doesn't have a seller lined up. In doing so, they are literally "making a market" for the stock.

Hope this help?
^^ Very possible, if your broker is effective and depending on your set (sell) target/ profit. It also depends on availability of buyers too.

Thank you broda,
I was confused because i saw settled date in my contract note.

stockbull: Nigeria stock exchange market updates.
Unity bank is trading on news and it's blank to technical analysis.it's not a suprise that there's no significant forces behind her move despite the impressive result of half quarter year because institutional investors are buying now characterized with moderate vol and sharp up movement.there's assurance that the stock would be relatively unavailable now and at this price, the stock may shed price soon and bounce up again as the news is still fresh in air. My take is this, since the stock does not trade in dusk like josbrew and champion, institutional investors would soon offload as proved by some immortal trend pattern analysis and with such a stock with bail-out mindset of large group of shareholders.the stock should come back to 0.60 and probably below after some weeks to this time.
Abc is behaving as it's expected,it has just finished a complete wave and it's tempting potential investors into buying.the real support of this stock should be 0.60(50% retracement) but with the fundamental strength of this stock and new laudable initiative in preventing death and injuries in transportation biz,a buy at 0.70 is suggested and the profit will not come soon as the trend should experience serial lows and highs.
Ubacap seems to be responsive to a slight low below 1.30 when the right support should be at 1.20(still considering the strength in the belt hold)or 1.10 in order to secure a net cover but since it takes more caution to buy in the bearish market than in the bullish market,i think it should be let go.#dont forget the nigeria stock market is not bullish yet, take caution and be expecting promising bullish season more than the 2012 season in 2014
The first phase of Stockbull's prediction "The stock may shed price soon" has happened lets wait for the second phase "bounce up again as the news is still fresh. Trend is my friend as am still learning, Happi investing.

frond: It means they are buying the half of the company at 160million. Half of the shares/equities. This should reflect in the market price of the shares. The problem with Nigeria capital markets is that not all the companies have market makers. I think the company in question is one of the companies listed on the stock exchange that have no market marker. The share price would have been adjusted immediately if there was one. In this case I believe the price of shares will gradually rise to reflect the acquisition value through demand and supply of the shares. I don't know how you get your 2 naira, but it has to be 160m divided by half of the amount of outstanding shares. Do the maths yourself. If you get 2 then it is 2. I can only assure you that if you have the shares somebody will be at the stock exchange to buy it before reaching the ceiling. On the contrary, if you want to buy before reaching the acquisition value your order will not be filled. Sorry that is the way it works in naija.

The scenario is similar to When Tiger Brands acquired 70 or 80% of Dangote Flour at 8 naira. The price of the stock quickly moved to that and it took a long time to move to its current price of N9. The only way you third party can benefit on acquisition is either the person or the institution had owned the shares before the announcement or inside trading. Hope this helps.
yes it does.
Thank you

SWG 1: The gurus in the house, pls help me analyse this; if verod management wants to stake 160m dollars (buy50%) in unity bank and the bank is not worth up to that in terms of its recent market cap. Does this mean d major shareholder will have to sell their holdings(90%) or the price of this stock will be forced to N2 to enable them hold back up to 50%. Pls i nid expert advice.
Please Chairman dem answer this one.

Unity just gained 10% today and may ride like jos brewries with the news of new investors. Its better to be in the bus before it takes off than pursuing the bus. T-john:
I don't know what to do with my Unity Bank, the stock is bleeding seriously
I'm losing money daily, will i ever break even at 1naira?
How do i exit?
I bought 31601 units of UBA at 7.12 in 2011, out of fear i sold it at 2.9 in 2012. You can imagine the lost and that was all my savings as a Corper then. I almost lost hope but i learnt something, in December 2012 i bought 650,000 units of Transcorp at 91k and sold it at 1.83 in feb this year. If i had known what i know now, i would have bought more units of UBA at 2.9 because the bank was under value then and sell now.

Here is my advise, Hold on to ur stock and bid for more units at 0.50 to minimize your lost.
Never lose hope cos in this market, u learn most when u lose.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by anyanwu58: 1:43pm On Aug 07, 2013
Elai147: I don't think the banks will alter their forecasts as it will give a negative connotation to investors. Investors are already aware that increased CRR will lead to reduced liquidity and will affect bank's profitability. So there is no need for banks to make it sound like it's a big problem otherwise this can have negative effect on their share prices. Ordinarily investors expects competent banks, especially those that are not too exposed to public sector funds, to try and minimise the effect of increased CRR.

I have substantial amount of bankings stocks (Zenith, FBNH, GTB, Access and ETI) in my portfolio, most of which are for the long term. So if the increased CRR eventually leads to fall in share prices of banking stocks as perceived by investors (perhaps due to reduced profitability), my strategy will be to take advantage of the situation by increasing my holdings and waiting for them to get back to profitability. This is because the increase in CRR will only be temporal. So I don't think there is cause for alarm if you have good banking stocks.
CRR will be temporal.............. like how many months?
Thanks

When is Fidson qualification date for their dividend?
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by anyanwu58: 12:00pm On Aug 01, 2013
RichYoungRuler: Hi Boss,Interim dividend as the name implies is the dividend paid before the final one is declared. it comes between two final dividends(declared after full year results). Some investors use that in their stock picking approach e.g Gtbank usually gives interim dividend, so for IBTC that declared say 70kobo as interim, whatever they declare as final dividend will include what has already been paid, e.g if the final dividend is 50kobo,this brings dividend for the year to 1.20=(70+50). I hope this helps.
Yes it really help.
Will the final dividend also be declared this year?

Elai147: You don't need to open another account. Give your Clearing House Number (CHN) to the new stockbroker and tell them you wish to maintain the same CHN so that they don't open a new one for you. If you do this, you will have two stockbrokers but one CHN. This way, you are able to view and monitor both stockbroking accounts with one CSCS online subscription. You can also move your stocks from your current stockbroker to a new one but this process is not easy and takes some time. Except you do not trust your current broker, I will advise you not to bother transferring your stock. You can have more than one stockbrokers but just make sure you maintain one CHN number so that you can monitor all stockbroking accounts in one go.
Thank you very much broda.
