PoliticsRe: Photo Of President Jonathan In Borno With A Sword by ANYPEN(m): 11:13pm On Mar 07, 2013
The big question is; where has Mr. president been all these while. i believe he wouldn't have remember his territory reached far Maiduguri has a president if the newly APC governors didn't take the bold step first + the whole place is been flooded with 3000 soldiers so why should he be afraid.

for those of you abusing your parents because of all these dirty politicians including the president, i think it is a big shame on you guys because what i know is that respect is reciprocal. no matter who you are, be it the president of a country, if you don't earn respect, no one will give it to you except fools.
PoliticsRe: Foreign Degree & The Nigerian Mentality by ANYPEN(m): 9:17am On Mar 05, 2013
We all remember GEJ saying these words "i don't give a damn" in an interview sometimes last year. A lot of Nigerians must have digested those words but they are too complex for me to digest so am breaking them down to these ones for easy digestion.

WHEN LEADERS 'DON'T GIVE A DAMN'

Right before our eyes, gas freely flare
while they sit in glass houses making budgets for fuel
right under their noses bridges partly fell
while they allocate money for old private jets

they eat away time like lions feeding on flesh
claiming it is better being slow than to fall for fear
whereas the fret of a fall is being comfortable just standing there...
while the world moves swiftly with the speed of a launched rocket

our streets harbor crimes everyday of the year...
yet their beds grow succulent from the loot of our collective wealth.
their cheeks and bellies firmly keeps up a lofty swell...
pushing suits and 'Agbada' buttons to their very edge

is this what happens when leaders don't "bloody care"?
bloodshed everyday like the world is coming to an end?
build security in every corner of their own marbled fence?
and leave out masses to live here next to hell?

homicide, suicide, genocide reigns everywhere
malaria still kill most on this part of the earth
and toothpick breaks less often than an adult's leg
it is them that see it that can truly tell

rainfall should give daily bread but it takes it instead
sunshine should dry our crops but it saps our daily sweat
oil should make us rich but it make us poor instead
one now wonders if it is a curse to be richly blessed

no work for the arms full of strength
no thought for the brain full of ideas
yet they claim to be running well a government...
the type that tags their own few friends

THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS WHEN LEADERS DON'T GIVE A DAMN.

LiteratureHumanity & Freedom by ANYPEN(op): 3:23pm On Mar 02, 2013
Humanity don't know what freedom means
he displays his mortality in it
like a child don't know what's in leaf
"just a vegetable!" he calls it.

step outside and let's teach some lessons
look into the sky and find a bird flying
soon you'll see its wings disappearing
that is freedom; a privilege to get missing.

great people understand what that means
so they make borders and occupy boundaries,
they ignore theories saying they own all spaces
cause just an illusion is what freedom is

where has the bird flown now?
West, North, East or South?
Living or maybe Dead and out?
you don't know and care it's where about

but if it were to be restricted in your care
to house, feed, water and dress
and to make it not know the skies it's missing
the purpose of life is revealed enough clearly

if all could fly till they disappear
what will be the essence of life even at its best?
so if you say the sky is just the beginning
do not forget to still set a limit

if you're free in displaying immorality in public places
and loot treasury in government offices
if you're free in displaying wealth where sickness ravages
and step on toes because you wear iron heels

you're displaying mortality in freedom
and your wings fast disappearing
soon you're gone and forgotten,
'cause you got caught-up in an illusion.

PoliticsRe: Good Governance Tour Ill-conceived – Fashola by ANYPEN(m): 5:08pm On Feb 27, 2013
i see the good governance tour as duplication of duty. the senate and it's members have the inspection of federal govt. projects around the country as one of their primary duties and it is left for them inform the executive arm and nigerians of the outcome of these projects and be as whip to contractors who wants to mismanage govt. fund. we do not need someone in the name of a minister to go around the country singing the president's praises... it sounds more like a campaign to me.
this once again shows great weakness of the presence government

LiteratureBegining Of Madness! by ANYPEN(op): 11:16am On Feb 22, 2013
Look around you and you'll see people dying of boredom
people that had their future carved decades ago and still have it spotlessly kept in their cupboards
hope is shrinking and anger mounting
if they're aren't speaking, their cheekbones at least spells it.

hardship is pushing people to the edge and making them break from dryness
of all the times that has come and gone,
this is the time the soil is needed the most to grow it's best for his sons
after now, am afraid it will be difficult to really know what people fight for
cause it's a thin line between the poor man and a mad one

noise can drive people crazy, so is the sun
and poverty can drive a 100x faster or even more...
that before you could ask "what's happening here?"
it won't be long to know something big has disappeared.

so when you hear people do what they do
do not wonder any longer
cause all you need to be mad is just a Madness Supporting Habitat (MSH)

don't wanna be useless so i hold-on to my pen
many more don't wanna be and still there's nothing to be held
... and that is the beginning of all MADNESS!

Music/Radio"Love Like A Drama" by ANYPEN(op): 4:05pm On Feb 20, 2013
The well talked about concert ‘Love Like A Movie’ by Dare Art Alade turned out to be ‘Love Like A Drama’ when the American superstar invited spent about 20sec. on stage (why? Probably because she had nothing to say), was unable to sit for the show (why? Obviously, she knew her level is far higher than that of those sitting there) and stayed less than 24hours in the country (why? Maybe she concluded the country is in mess from what she’s been hearing from the press) for whopping amount of half a million dollars (about #75,000,000 if my calculations are correct).

The first question that popped in my head was;
“Has Nigerian music grown to that height where an artist spends half a million dollar to invite a personality for a show? I mean, it use to be co-operate organizations like Nigerian Breweries that could afford this in the past. Then I realized some of these Nigerian artists spend even more to feature their American counterparts in tracks and I thought;
“what a waste of money” because personally, I’ve not found any of these featured American tracks more interesting or special.
OK, let’s assume and agree we’ve gotten to that level.

The second question;
“What was Dare Art Alade thinking?” I mean Kim Kardashian isn’t a musician neither is she a movie star and this is a lady with her integrity in the mud after that sex tape went viral…remember? Alade’s business mind didn’t balance his entertainment mind neither did it balance up with his sense of morality on this one.
Then I thought;
“who will suit Alade’s show if not Kim” I think Will will…Will Smith is a musician, a movie star, a loving family man and a personality with his integrity intact. He would have had more to say, sing and act.
Although the show was reported to be on e of it's kind and has a lot of "WOW!" in it but wasn't because of Kim.

The third question is a general one;
For how long will Africans be subjecting themselves under Europeans and Americans? To break into Hollywood or World music isn’t to pay huge amount of money or go begging, it is to be original in what you do and that directly means being creative with what is around you.
This is a country where people averagely live on less than $2 a day for God’s sake. Musicians like late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Chief Ebenezer Obey, Chief Ayinde Barrister, Lagbaja, Asa etc have their names on world music map not because they pay huge money to feature a foreigner or go begging with huge amount just to have their faces shown on concerts but because they were real and original in what they do.

I hope our thinking gets better even as we hope the country gets better soon. AMEN!

what you'll eat tonight
you can't even predict right
'cause as the night arrive
you may simply change your mind

what you'll wear tomorrow
you already said you'll borrow
but as the sun rise in the sky
surprises behold your eyes

isn't it simply funny
that man who can't predict his next meal
wanna chart his whole life in memory
with a mind that works like wild wind?

the mind is not the right tool
to search in your tomorrow all through
like legs don't need good shoes
to find path ways in a dark room

if you have any other tool
please feel free to put to use
but for now, oh simple one
put your mind at rest and see what comes up next.
