it is only in Nigeria or may be some parts of Africa that people wear suits in the heat of the sun on Okada just because it is Sunday |
nothing! nothing!! nothing!!! |
if Nairaland have not been politicized, then this song should be given a good rating. far better than all these trash we've been hearing lately. |
why is the list of the happiest/developed nations of the world far different from the list of top internet users? does it it mean that using the internet doesn't necessarily translate to development and security of lives and properties? |
I'm sure am not the only ONE mulling over this line of thought but maybe I am the only one who gets more bemused anytime the GOVERNMENT repeat one of their popular lines. We have learned by rote from the government that Agriculture sector remains the only SECTOR that can absorb the MILLIONS of youths presently unemployed and underemployed in the country. This statement from the government has remained ‘POLITICAL’ and not ‘developmental’ because there is no DEVELOPED nation in the world that has agriculture sector as its biggest employment of LABOR. If Nigeria is hoping to JOIN the league of the first 20 developed countries in the world, then it should have a VISION sharper than absorbing a gigantic portion of its population in AGRICULTURE rather, it should be more creative and determined to pay the price of turning the country into an industrialized nation where the most labor will be GAINFULLY absorbed. The invention of EFFICIENT and clear-cut agricultural machinery has literary mean more people on the FARMLAND is simply ‘old school’ and a sign of crudity in the ECONOMY. In the US for example, only 1-2% of the population FEEDS the remaining 98-99% and this goes for all other developed nations where some even have less than 1% on the farm for the REST. In Australia, each Australian farmer produces enough food to feed 600 people, 150 at home and 450 overseas; Japan has less than 1% of its population claiming to be farmers; Denmark has a population of 5.5 million people and produces food for 15 million people. The cost of INDUSTRIALIZATION is ‘huge’ for this government because it will mean that they (politicians) will be letting the economy run itself without them having the sole POWER to influence it and that, our greedy politician do not want; it will also mean EXPATRIATES (professionals) who do not and do not want to understand the language corruption speak will have to be involved in the BUILDING of the economy and this also, our leaders do not want for the same reason (GREED). Our leaders want to keep living like kings when in the real sense they were elected to be servants. In government today, everyone in all tiers, sectors and sub-sector is a politician and it has to be that way for CORRUPTION to thrive. To keep saying agriculture is the way out of UNEMPLOYMENT ravaging the economy of the country, is to keep saying this country will remain POOR in the midst of plenty. What will simply do the job is industrialization, where there can be mass TRAINING and re-training to produce what we consume/use and EXPORT what we produce; to give value and dignity to lives by what we can can do with our hands. What we need from the government is to open up the economy by creating apt and sustaining environment for development to naturally take its course and not policies like the importation PHONES for farmers when we can be trained to manufacture phones for everyone. |
thank you for creating a forum like this and thank you for giving people a forum to express selves in a way because most of the people that come here to rant cannot stand to talk in public yet you give confidence to their voice here. |
may God be with you guys o! for those of you criticizing for being battle ready at the airport, there is one thing Nigerians are known for and it is being different in whatever they do. as long as it is not a crime, i dare you to be different. |
this is horrifying and shows in details what the lack of good governance can cost a nation. |

tpia@:this isn't 'anti pastor rant' like you called it because it isn't only in church that we build beliefs. this is only closing a lot of gaps in people's conscious and subconscious actions that leads to what influences their destinies. a lot of people cannot pin-point why they do what they do because they've let these basic things slip into their subconscious mind but if you can understand why and stand responsible for what you believe, there will be less 'miracle', 'god's confirmation' 'god's evidence' which easily can mislead etc. |
Beliefs are a vital part of human life. Destinies are been changed, directed or re-directed from both big and small beliefs of man through his life time. If beliefs are this vital to human life, one must then be interested on how these beliefs are made. I call them recipe because these two components that make up beliefs come together in a manner that makes them seem indivisible. The components are: 1. Decision Making. We make decisions all the time, both critical which are mostly made consciously and minor that we mostly make unconsciously and once these decisions are made, it automatically or naturally starts attracting justifications like pouring sugar on the floor will attract ants or a beautiful flower blossoming will attract bees. Justification is the second component of the ‘belief recipe’. 2. Justifications. They are what naturally get attracted to the decisions you’ve must have made and the faster they can come, the faster you build a belief system. One must however know that every decision both right and wrong have their justifications. For example if you consciously or unconsciously make a critical or minor decision to become a prostitute, what naturally follows are reasons why you should or if you decide to buy a particular kind of car for example, what naturally follows is the tendency that you start seeing the car and hear people talk about it everywhere you go. Although these are minor cases, this is how big beliefs are also made. This is what happens with people, they mostly are not conscious when they make decisions and when justifications start rolling in, then, they call it miracles or confirmation while others say it is coincidence and before you know it, a belief system is in its building. People underrate the very important part they play in building their own belief system and concentrate on justifications and this is why people blindly believe. ROLES OF LEADERS IN BUILDING BELIEF SYSTEMS. The only role leaders have in building your belief system is that they serve as source of artificial justifications. After your decision must have been made and after natural justifications must have come in, there are tendencies that you meet a leader figure who flourishes you with more justifications and the more you have these justifications, the faster you build a belief system. So, a pastor for example who knows you must have made a decision before coming into his church, will make sure he gives you as many justifications as possible to build your belief system faster. People follow pastor’s principles and values today even when they are clearly different from what the Bible preach simply because they get more justifications to their decisions from the pastor and not from the pages of the Bible. So, in life one must make sure he/she tries as much as possible to close the gap between conscious and unconscious decisions made. Be sure you’re conscious of most of your decisions because justifications will flood in and you may have little or no choice than just to follow (build a belief system). In a litmus test, it turns red when it’s acid and blue when it’s base; either ways, the paper must get wet. If MASSOB assures the Igbos of security when they come home for X-mass and kidnappers keep threatening citizens of continuous kidnapping; either ways, citizens at home must pay hugely, either for security or for ransom. |
i dont know if anyone has written anything similar to this cause i didnt have time to read through every comment. i think the question is very simple. your conscience is that part of you that came to the world with you. it comes empty as a baby and gradually have it filled with the way to operate as the child grows in an environment. when you have the holy spirit, what it does is influence your conscience that already exist to make decisions according to your belief. what is holy and what is not strictly depends on what you believe and if you believe the bible as a christian, anything or act against the principles in it becomes unholy and your influenced conscience automatically speak against it i.e the holy spirit influenced your conscience to against it. so your conscience becomes holy. |
this is seriously a big societal problem in the making o! ![]() |
401kk: Being a state governor is very different from being a president. Though I'm not trying undermine or downplay his achievements and pedigree, but I honestly believe he will not perform to our expected yardstick if he becomes president. He should endeavour to engage in other meaningful political activities after 2015.no matter how bad he performs, his worst will still be far better than Retardeen's best(est) and that will be just enough to take this country to the next level |
Our minds become incredibly curious with attractive flashes of complicated information in a seemingly small environment. This is the selling strategy and what pushes creativity to its edge in modern technology. Exploration becomes the game and survival in the modern world is strictly measured by it. “Can you keep up with change?” becomes the most important question from an employer. One should naturally think that with the advancement in modern technology which has increased the level of social life and bridged relationships among individuals and groups, self awareness and self esteem should follow the upward trend, but ironically, the opposite has been the case. More than ever before, people have continually mutilate their self esteem and neglect self awareness to ‘feed’ selves with the assumed lives they see or feel others live on the other side of the screen. People more than ever before want to imitate what they assume is life of other people in a separate ‘world’ especially in the entertainment industry and the implication is what we now deal with in form of different kinds of crime and ‘mental disorderliness’. I read like everyone did about the Newton High School merciless case of murder in Connecticut, USA and I had a glimpse on Adam Lanza’s brief history. Although he had reports of psychological problem and was even assigned a psychologist while in school, his unforgiving action of taking the lives of 20 little kids, 6 women including his mother and lastly taking his own life cannot be totally disconnected to the fact that the world is going through a lot of changes which comes with its challenges and which we all have different capacity to handle. When one can’t live the life he sees and cherishes, there are higher tendencies that such person begins to hate self and everything around… when he adores a hero so much to want to instantly be with him/her, there are tendencies to start becoming desperate. I have seen cases where people beg and even threaten to take their own lives if a public figure refuses to tweet back. Ladies have gone to the extent of stripping selves just to get attention on the social network (twitter). These are the different ways people have been learning and managing to handle these changes. Things can get more calamitous if the right words are not spoken to people. And the right words are simply the teachings of self awareness and more importantly, the development of self esteem--- this is the kind of exploration I meant. Centuries ago, it was the exploration of the surface of the earth, then to the core of it and now, it is a total different form of exploration… exploration of the inner self. coined from www.wise-ticket..com
